something a bit strange. Yesterday, I minted one block and the whole balance was in "stake". Today, I minted two blocks (of about half the reward of yesterday) and only half of the coin are on stake. Is this a normal behaviour ?
Maybe there was some halving?

t's annoying to see how all currencies are discharged below their value, it may definitely kill the currency, i have 109k of faircoins, i don't sell at this price!
Well indeed but this is not a best time for all of the coins ... We must wait until things get clear and cryptocoins will have a bright light above to get in power! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Bitcoin price will go up +50% and all altcoins will ++ .

Higher difficulty -> higher each BTC cost of production -> higher BTC/USD price. Therefore if the difficulty will continue rising, the price will catch up almost certainly!
Higher price of bitcoins -> more profitable to mine -> more mining -> higher difficulty. That's how this works. I remember when BTC price hits the record in 2013 ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) wow so many new miners come in few weeks ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) So many new Bitcoin users

I think Bitcoin was enough. There was Litecoin ... there was few others ... and then too many ... Really ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) But altcoins are in my opinion good thing - maybe one day someone will develop "better" coin. Just too many ... too many ... and most of them are a waste of devs and our time.

For the first time since I bought my first bitcoins at about $5/ea, I don't own any. With the IRS decision, its obvious [immediate] effects and the slight dip in the price of silver, I headed over to Amagi and spent it all on junk silver (90%). It feels weird to "be out of the game" as far as owning bitcoins goes. Did I make the right decision? Has the ship sailed? Or does anybody think now is the perfect time to hop back on it?
This IRS decision sux a lot ... I am pretty sure decision is going to be changed in near future. You will be back in the game sooner then you expected. I wish you quick come back and all best!

My question is simply. Is bitcoin community ready for a global trade ban of bitcoin? Are we ready to keep bitcoin running if one day all the countries decide to ban completely bitcoin? I am new in this and i love the idea of bitcoin and what it brings. But imo for what i have see until now i think if this happen then bitcoin will collapse. In my opinion the weak point in bitcoin community is everyone that he want to get rich in one day with the digital currency and to trade their bitcoins to fiat money. All of them will run away if we have a global bitcoin ban. To prevent this we need a bitcoin fiat price crash and the next step to be the real meaning of btc revolution and imo this is to be 1btc=1btc. Sorry for my bad english but i want to write my thoughts ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) But what you mean by "ban"? They will tell us "do not use bitcoin"? ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.reactiongifs.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2013%2F05%2Flol.gif&t=663&c=BVmZ-eKLqxuk8w) Bitcoin is impossible to be stopped! They can ban "accepting Bitcoin" ... so? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I would love Bitcoin even more then! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Cyperpunk money! Away from govs eyes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HL-N9oOjcsThey cannot stop us ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Too late.

First, thank you for those of you who have provided a ton of information in this forum to noobs like myself. I appreciate it.
I am new to BitCoin, I believe in it as the technology and economics of it are sound (limited quantity, decentralized, etc). I also recently purchased about 10 BitCoins at $600.
From what I gather the price is going to fluctuate and be volatile for obvious reasons. More so than other commodities as the supply of bitcoin is fixed and the price is fully dependent on demand.
Now my question:
In the foreseeable future. What are the factors/predictions to drive these forum predicted prices like $10000 or drop to sub-$100?
From what I gather things like the below are correct. What are your thoughts or opinions? or am i missing something obvious?
My guess is something like technology that increase the usability of bitcoin which will allow for rapid adoption. Or a large company like Google or Bank announcing support. (though if that was the case why did Stripe adoption not drive the price up? or did it with this past temporary bump?)
As for drop, If the major holders of bitcoin sell a lot (though this seems odd as with the quanities they hold it would be hard to find buyers for that many without massively dropping the price) and in that matter I still see minor holders keeping what they have.
-- I wanted to add clarification to my question, I am not asking for speculation. I am asking what examples can you provide which would affect the price. Outside of the few thoughts I had.
So you want just theory speaks? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Most of discussions about the price tomorrow are speculations. Nobody cannot say what will happen. Sure it, there is always going to be a price drop when: 1. Some country "ban" some sectors for bitcoin 2. Some big exchange hacked 3. Dumping and price will get ++ value when more people will join Bitcoin - yes. This is a law of a market. More want to buy, less want to sell? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Price up up and away ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Parallel to the news from China, several hardware companies have obviously ceased to sell their equiopment for Bitcoins. Funny enough, I can't reach the site of Lketc anymore. Bitmain's ants are labeled as available, however, it is not possible to order them anymore. Other companies which sell miners on Alibaba all the sudden have stopped to accept payments in Bitcoins. So probably, KnC, Bitmine and other non-chinese producers will become more important again...?
Well if this will happen perhaps you are right, but there will be new who will come to the game. So do not worry. There is always an answer for problems. We just need some time. 2013 and 2014 crazy for Bitcoin ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I hope in the second half of the year things will settle and new improvements (new hardware, new prices etc) will be done.
