There are so many micro nations but none have got any major recognition, lets see if Liberland does anything different to get some legitimacy, micronations have been formed for so many years but none got any big recognition or funding or any good  infrastructure or healthy economy.
You can find  here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_micronations a list of micronations but none have claimed any significance in the global presence yet

What if... All those micro nations would adopt Bitcoin as their currency and have Liberland their BUN (Bitcoin United Nations)...

Here is a weird post script to my rant about Google/youtube. My wife was setting up her new unlocked phone over the weekend and I wanted to see how the fast processor rendered video. It was right out of the box and only just connected to wifi at a restaurant. (no cell service).

I went to youtube and when the page loaded it had a list of suggested videos that could only have been compiled for me. Weird videos that I have seen. The first being a Ryan Cleckner video on long range shooting. (The link is below and he is awesome at explaining things).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA2PZBD5Tjg

So what? Well, how the F did it know it was me? The only thing I have been able to come up with is that the camera ran a facial recognition search. This seems to Orwellian to be true, but I have no other theory. Anybody have another guess?

The only way to be sure is to repeat this with another brand new phone in another wifi spot I guess.

Should we destroy this new evil empire? Or just let it be and live with it? Where is new gorbachev who would destroy it? =))
Oh wait, cryptocurrency and decentralization is an answer for this actually. Fuck big brother!

There was no need of 'destroying' bulky black and white Tvs. They became irrelevant. That is what I mean with my comment in the OP at the end.

If Republicans Keep Attacking Hillary, The 2016 “Vagina” Turnout Is Going To Be 100%…

Radio host and MSNBC talking head Stephanie Miller was on Politics Nation with Al Sharpton Monday afternoon when she made an off the cuff, and off the wall, prediction about the 2016 election. Trotting out the tired canard that talking about Hillary’s age or criticizing her in any way is sexist, Miller contends that if Republicans keep attacking her, something unusual will happen.

“What I like as a woman, Rev? Is keep playing this age card and this sexist card, we’re going to have, like, a hundred percent turnout of everyone in the country with a vagina,” says Miller. She then goes on to slam Rubio as the real candidate of yesterday before saying “please take us back to a third Clinton term, please!”

6086  Other / Politics & Society / Why Google Is the New Evil Empire on: April 21, 2015, 06:55:14 PM

Today we have Google (GOOGL). Don’t let the geeky façade, whimsical multicolored logo and “don’t be evil” mantra fool you. Google may very well be the most sinister threat and wicked incarnation of them all.

In an interview with the Atlantic almost five years ago, the search empire’s dark lord himself, Eric Schmidt, said, “Google policy is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.” He said, “I would argue that implanting things in your brain is beyond the creepy line … at least for the moment until the technology gets better.”

Then things got even creepier when Schmidt said, “We don’t need you to type at all because we know where you are. We know where you’ve been. We can more or less guess what you’re thinking about.” Then he paused and asked, “Is that over the line?”

Clearly, this creepy virtual line of Google’s is not just a moving target but a highly subjective one. How do they know when they’ve crossed it? Perhaps the more appropriate question to ask is how many lines does Google have to cross before its executives realize – before we realize – that they’re doing evil?

It’s easy to forget that Google once had a deep partnership with Apple. Then, while Steve Jobs mentored co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and Schmidt sat on Apple’s (AAPL) board of directors, Android magically transformed from a BlackBerry-like (BBRY) phone with a physical keyboard into an iPhone clone.

And all the while – right up until the Federal Trade Commission forced Schmidt off Apple’s board on anticompetitive concerns – he maintained that Android did not compete with iPhone. A year later, Apple’s iPad was immediately followed by Android tablets which I’m sure were not competitors either.

Does that cross the line? Is that evil? Jobs certainly thought so. He was furious over the betrayal, calling Android “a stolen product” and vowing to “go thermonuclear war” on Google in Walter Isaacson’s biography of Apple’s iconic CEO.

Between Google Search, Gmail, Maps, Android, YouTube, Glass, Now, Books, Wallet, Chromecast, Wear, Nest and its alliance with car companies, Google now knows more about you than you do. It knows what you want, where you are, whom you’re with, what you read, what you buy, even what pictures and videos you create and look at.

As Infoworld’s Robert X. Cringely so aptly put it, “Santa works for Google now.”

While much of that is ostensibly “with your permission” and to “improve your search results,” as Schmidt says repeatedly, that’s just part of the story. Permissions are notoriously difficult to find and manage. And when you’re logged into your Google account, rest assured that the omnipresent eyes of Google are upon you.

Remember that nearly all of Google’s massive profits and revenues come from search advertising. That’s what funds the company’s ever-expanding presence in our lives. So when Schmidt or Page talk about improving search results, they really mean improving their ability to target you with contextual ads.

Not to sound paranoid or conspiratorial, but before long, those ads won’t just be limited to computer screens. They’ll be anywhere and everywhere Google can reach you.

And that’s just for starters. The Google Empire is expanding into everything from self-driving cars and virtual reality to broadband fiber and neural networks. It’s even collecting genetic and molecular information from thousands of people to map humans in a way that’s eerily reminiscent of how it maps the world’s streets.

Page says he wants Google to be much, much larger than it is today. In a Wired interview where he talked about the dozens of disparate projects the company has going on – what they call moon shots – he said, “Imagine what we could do if we had a hundred times as many employees. Anything is scalable.”

That would give the company millions of employees and make Google far and away the biggest and most powerful company in history. You would think the U.S. Justice Department or the FTC might have something to say about that. But then, you’d be wrong.

Last month the Wall Street Journal obtained a 160-page report from the trade agency’s bureau of competition that recommended the commission bring an antitrust suit against the search giant. It claimed Google’s actions have done and will continue to do “real harm to consumers and to innovation in the online search and advertising markets.”

And yet, the agency’s commissioners ultimately decided against and closed the investigation. Why? Could it be that Google was the second-largest donor to President Obama’s reelection campaign or that the company’s executives spend so much time at the White House that the administration is thinking of redoing the Green Room in Google’s multicolor scheme?

Don’t be silly. There’s no cronyism in Washington.

Finally, European regulators last week filed an antitrust action claiming Google skews search results in favor of its own shopping network, a practice that Yelp and others have long complained about. The European Commission also added a new investigation to its ongoing efforts, this one over Google’s Android operating system.

Don’t tell me we’re going to need Europe to save us from the evil empire. How ironic can you get?

I am not even from the US and there is nothing centralized in what I said, it was just my opinion as even Obama stated his opinion and it  is a freedom of opinion and as decentralized as it gets , btw right now, whom do you think is more likely to become the president?, If they grant Obama a 3rd term, i like that but it is not going to happen i think.

You are right. Becoming president is not based on merits, but on lies and criminal activities. On that she could be president for life.

Why don’t people behave in more environmentally friendly ways? New research presents one uncomfortable answer: They don’t want to be associated with environmentalists.

That’s the conclusion of troubling new research from Canada, which similarly finds support for feminist goals is hampered by a dislike of feminists.

Participants held strongly negative stereotypes about such activists, and those feelings reduced their willingness “to adopt the behaviors that these activities promoted,” reports a research team led by University of Toronto psychologist Nadia Bashir. This surprisingly cruel caricaturing, the researchers conclude, plays “a key role in creating resistance to social change.”

Writing in the European Journal of Social Psychology, Bashir and her colleagues describe a series of studies documenting this dynamic. They began with three pilot studies, which found people hold stereotyped views of environmentalists and feminists.

In one, the participants—228 Americans recruited via Amazon’s Mechanical Turk—described both varieties of activists in “overwhelmingly negative” terms. The most frequently mentioned traits describing “typical feminists” included “man-hating” and “unhygienic;” for “typical environmentalists,” they included “tree-hugger” and “hippie.”

Another study, featuring 17 male and 45 female undergraduates, confirmed the pervasiveness of those stereotypes.

Not sure about title, i think feminists are a pain in the arse these days, they are kinda redundant.

Well. NOT ALL feminists. The third wave feminists.

The title (of this thread) stays as is, so no one can be accused of pushing a foxnews agenda... Salon.com said it.

88 Times Hillary Clinton Said 'Mmm Hmm' in New Hampshire

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton held a roundtable with furniture employees in New Hampshire Monday, and while they spoke she had to somehow show she was listening.

That meant saying “mmm hmm” a lot. 88 times, by our count.

Interestingly, Clinton, a friend of Wall Street, does not sound particularly different from Matthew McConaughey chest-thumping stock broker in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Out-of-touch Clinton “Surprised” to Learn Small Business Creation Has “Stalled Out”

Hillary Clinton admitted today that she was “surprised” to learn that the people who told her small businesses have struggled in recent years were actually correct. Clinton noted that small business creation has “stalled out,” to her chagrin. “I was very surprised to see that when I began to dig into it,” she said while campaigning in New Hampshire. “Because people were telling me this as I traveled around the country the last two years, but I didn’t know what they were saying and it turns out that we are not producing as many small businesses as we use to.”

WH Won't Deny Accusations That Hillary's State Dept Did Favors for Clinton Foundation Donors

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest did not give a definite answer about whether Hillary Clinton gave special treatment to countries and organizations that donated to the Clinton Foundation during her time as Secretary of State.

An upcoming book called Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich by Peter Schweizer, is an investigation into donations to the Clinton Foundation from foreign governments.

This book has returned attention as to whether Clinton gave special treatment to foreign countries that made donations to the Clinton Foundation.

ABC NewsWhite House correspondent Jon Karl asked Earnest, “Can you assure us that there was absolutely no favorable treatment given to donors of the Clinton Foundation?”

Earnest did not give a definite answer and said there was no ‘tangible’ evidence to indicate Clinton provided special treatment to donors.

“I’m not going to be in a position here where every time someone raises a spurious claim that I’m going to be the one to sit down here and say its not true,” Earnest said.

She got the dogs safely out of the house, just as multiple armed agents rushed inside. Some even barged into the bathroom, where her partner was in the shower. The officer or agent in charge demanded that Cindy sit on the couch, but she wanted to get up and get a cup of coffee.

“I told him this was my house and I could do what I wanted.” Wrong thing to say. “This made the agent in charge furious. He towered over me with his finger in my face and yelled like a drill sergeant that I either do it his way or he would handcuff me.”

They wouldn’t let her speak to a lawyer. She looked outside and saw a person who appeared to be a reporter. Someone had tipped him off.

The John Doe investigations are a form of domestic lawfare, and our constitutional system is ill equipped to handle it. Federal courts rarely intervene in state judicial proceedings, state officials rarely lose their array of official immunities for the consequences of their misconduct, and violations of First Amendment freedoms rarely result in meaningful monetary damages for the victims. …

Yes, Wisconsin, the cradle of the progressive movement and home of the “Wisconsin idea” — the marriage of state governments and state universities to govern through technocratic reform — was giving birth to a new progressive idea, the use of law enforcement as a political instrument, as a weapon to attempt to undo election results, shame opponents, and ruin lives.

Most Americans have never heard of these raids, or of the lengthy criminal investigations of Wisconsin conservatives. For good reason. Bound by comprehensive secrecy orders, conservatives were left to suffer in silence as leaks ruined their reputations, as neighbors, looking through windows and dismayed at the massive police presence, the lights shining down on targets’ homes, wondered, no doubt, What on earth did that family do?

This was the on-the-ground reality of the so-called John Doe investigations, expansive and secret criminal proceedings that directly targeted Wisconsin residents because of their relationship to Scott Walker, their support for Act 10, and their advocacy of conservative reform.

6098  Other / Politics & Society / Norway to Become First Country to Switch Off FM Radio in 2017 on: April 20, 2015, 05:50:03 PM

Steely Dan, the jazz-rockers who scored a hit in 1978 with their single FM (No Static At All), would not be pleased.

In what will likely be the first of a global transition to digital radio, Norway has announced it will switch off its FM band, becoming the first country to do so. Norway will start turning off FM radio on January 11, 2017, and plans to stop transmission of the last FM signal to the country's northernmost regions by Dec. 13 of that year.

The announcement, made by their Ministry of Culture, makes Norway the first country to do away entirely with FM radio. The move is intended to save money and allow a full transition to digital radio, which Norway argues will give listeners "access to more diverse and pluralistic radio content and enjoy better sound quality and new functionality."

In its statement, the Norwegian government said the cost of transmitting national radio channels through the FM network is eight times higher than via the Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system, the standard digital radio technology used across Europe. By shutting off FM, Norway's national radio channels will save more than $25 million a year, according to official figures "releasing funds for investment in radio content," argued minister of culture Thorhild Widvey.

"This is an important day for everyone who loves radio," said Thor Gjermund Eriksen, head of public broadcasting network NRK, in a statement. "The minister's decision allows us to concentrate our resources even more upon what is most important, namely to create high-quality and diverse radio content to our listeners."

The DAB system in Norway already offers 22 national channels, compared to just five on the FM band, and has the capacity for 20 more. A recent survey by TNS Gallup found that 55 percent of Norwegian households have at least one DAB-equipped radio.

Norway has long been a digital radio pioneer. NRK launched the world's first DAB channel on June 1, 1995. Other Scandinavian countries as well as the U.K. are thought to be considering an FM switch-off by 2022. The digital rollout in other European countries has been slower, with old FM radio still proving more popular in several territories.

Will the state still control its power over FM after going digital? I wonder if there was any bitcoin/blockchain applications with FM transmission. Although a digital blockchain radio would seem more plausible.

How hard should they push her to take a stand?

Major environmental groups are prepared to go easy on Clinton over the issue, looking to her overall as a champion on their issues, especially climate change. But the outside-the-Beltway grassroots groups that the pipeline fight has awakened see Keystone as just the first of a series of fossil fuel disputes where they want Clinton to declare her allegiance, including future battles over fracking, Arctic drilling and natural gas exports.

They more adamant activists say the green base is a force that she can’t afford to ignore.

“Activists who are the ones that will turn out for her events and donate money are the ones who will also see the gap of her talking about climate change and yet (if she does) supporting tar sands and fracking,” said Jane Kleeb, founder of the anti-Keystone group Bold Nebraska. She added that Clinton “needs to visit with us and hopefully not listen to some of the DC lobbyists who I just know are saying ‘they will vote for you anyway, what other option do they have?’”

Bill Snape, senior counsel of the Center for Biological Diversity, said his group is not “taking any electoral stands” on Keystone. But it wants Clinton to declare her position, calling the pipeline “a microcosm of other fossil-fuel issues where she might cave.”

“What we are saying is: the public has a right to know where the leading Democratic presidential contender stands on the greatest American fossil fuel flashpoint ever,” he said by email. “Keystone is the pivot: we are moving either toward or away from these types of dirty oil pork barrel projects.”
