6121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency: Opportunities And Scams on: December 14, 2017, 08:29:07 AM
why not take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to get as much profit as possible? if this worry bubble phenomenon and so on, then must have plan b. there are many ways to get it, there are many ways to stay safe. Keep the spirit.
All he is saying is: " Is the world of cryptocurrency filled with Scammers or not?"

OP: look at every different kind of economy, there will always be scammers around. The difference is, there are no governing bodies around bitcoin or any cryptocurrency today. If they would "enforce" Bitcoin's markets, mining farms or trades, there will be less scammers, but this will surely cause some implications.
6122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it smart to put your bitcoin into daily interest websites? on: December 13, 2017, 09:12:55 AM
I found this website a couple days: https://freebit-snip-
I was wondering if it was smart to put it into this daily interest thing that they have? I'm not sure, but so far it doesn't look like a scam.
If you're just starting or just have a lot of time, yes.
You can play with a couple of satoshis you gain there in the lottery for a fraction of chances of winning.
Win-win, you don't need to deposit to join their lottery.

Not to mention buy I'll say it anyway, there must be a couple of accounts there that won the lottery but are inactive or was left by the user (inactive account with referrals are still getting tickets from their recruits), that's what giving the site more balances to operate. ~Smart-ass.

-edit: removed quoted referral link-
6123  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Transfer money from paper wallet to wallet and back to paper wallet and stay... on: December 13, 2017, 03:54:33 AM
Have you tried running a full node? You can make your own paper wallet there as the receiver.
And how much "anonimousity" do you need that you're not trusting the top alternative clients around?
6124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ☠☠☠ Will High Transaction Fees Be The Downfall Of Bitcoin? ☠☠☠ on: December 13, 2017, 03:32:43 AM
Voted for Yes, it's inevitable to fail as a currency with the current fees.
These transaction acceleration services are giving me an impression that is is being used as a workaround for them (miners) to choose transactions leaving the mimimum fee transactions unconfirmed for days.
6125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Burned 18 AWG Wire And 8-Pin VGA GPU Power Connectors on: December 12, 2017, 01:10:45 PM
It's clearly a low quality converter!
Believe me, I have a good eye on catching knockoffs.

The Plastic used for the 4pin - Molex has too many sharp-edges and untrimmed excess plastic around the sides.
The 8-pin PCI-E Power too, it's too sharp, I can literaly cut my skin with that.
I highly doubt the material used for the wires.

But you were right about using a bigger PSU.
If the rig is dedicated for mining, make sure the total power required by the whole system (at stress) is at 40-80% of your PSU's.
6126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Americans Are Taking Out Mortgages to Buy Bitcoin on: December 12, 2017, 07:50:36 AM
After those news in the internet lately, more will likely to follow.
These guys should stop their business increasing the hype, instead they should provide a warning and general idea of "smart investments" while providing the best assets of bitcoin/digital currencies. At least a link to the forum is good enough. People doesn't have the same point of views, knowledge and intelligence, most of the unwary will be the victims of these "news".
Coins/Coinbase did a good job sending emails to their users since they are the most "hype-susceptible".

You think just Americans? Some people here in PH are "investing" by selling their items in order to hoard a lot of BTC.
6127  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchain Unconfirmed transaction since 08 december on: December 12, 2017, 07:18:31 AM
Your fee is too low that is why your transaction is slow to get confirm don't worry i submitted your transaction to antpool and wait for few hours to your transaction to get confirm
So next time  use the default fee so that your transaction will confirm fast

You can make your account here for free to use their free accelerator https://www.antpool.com/user/prioritiseTransaction.htm?m=savePrioritiseTx
and submit your transaction if ever you need it again in the future.

Also check the updated default fee chart here http://bitcoinfees.earn.com/
And always use the higher than default fee if you wanted your transaction to confirm fast..

We're talking about 4 days delayed transaction here, I usually pay 10sat/b for my "slow transactions" and it always getting confirmed within 2days without even using those "accelerators".
He payed 50sat/b for his.
You should go to Marketplace->Services and find some threads that offers free Transaction Acceleration Service. Post your Transaction Add there. Just make sure you won't say "I will give a Tip" if you're not really going to.
6128  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Does wallet.dat ever expose private keys? on: December 12, 2017, 03:59:53 AM
While the wallet.dat can't be cracked itself, there are some silly methods to get your wallet password if you are an unwary Windows user.
In Windows there are more security risk to look after, example:
->The hacker might already included a KeyLogger before stealing the wallet.dat.
->Some are producing "activators" which are available all over the net (these activate paid versions if windows). There are other Computer Technicians that blindly using these to "format" PC's they are servicing, making the whole operating system compromised.

But the wallet.dat doesn't expose your pvtkeys since these are encrypted with you password. Bruteforcing works but requires more computing power (supercomputer) the longer the password.
6129  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Quantum Computer vs Bitcoin on: December 12, 2017, 03:27:08 AM
I heard that Quantum Computer can destroy bitcoin.
Is it possible?

<sarcasm>
Yes.

The word "quantum" is a synonym for "magic".  A quantum computer is a magic computer that can do anything you want it to do as fast as you want it to do it.

</sarcasm>

There is no reason to think that a quantum computer will destroy bitcoin.  Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Your sarcasm was straight to the point
Scientists nowadays are:
"Hey this should be researched, I need a lot of funds"

We're going back to "Earth as the center of the solar system" in the field of "Quantum" physics because of these kind of researchers.

OP: Looking at the current development in Qcomputing, Quantum computers will not be a threat to Bitcoin. There are more threaths than that to look after.
6130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Free Earning Bitcoin Site & Bitcoin Minning Site on: December 09, 2017, 06:39:29 AM
There's no such thing as "free bitcoin", you're saying it like "where can I get Free Dollars?"

The right Board to look for those services is: Services->MicroEarnings where you can find Low-paying Faucets or "Scammy" Mining Pools.
It's up to you to find out which are the legit ones. (you can cram the comments in every thread)

Off-topic Advice:
Since you're a newbie, learn to Close threads you started (like this) if you got the answer to your question to discourage necroposting or signature spamming.
(There is a "Close thread" below the page, it's too small to notice for newbies)
6131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Electroneum a SCAM??? on: December 09, 2017, 05:58:30 AM
.....
Any explanation of how mobile mining is supposed to work?
Pool mining, but will be considered as micro-earnings.
They mostly target regular or casual smartphone users who want to experience "cryptomining".
there are too many possibilities. But the Team, I think, aren't good enough.

Not that I care a lot, I only solo mine ETN at the first and second day then never continued because of this "short delay".
I'm going dump all my coins right after the launch their mobile wallet.

Edit: 12-18-17
I kept some of my coins, the re-launch feels like a "decent company" now.
6132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: big companies could choose BTG or BCH or BCD for payment instead of BTC? on: December 09, 2017, 05:36:18 AM
...
Do you think big companies could choose another one for payment unit instead of BTC?
BTC is still the best choice, maturity and popularity wise.
When you think about it, the whose system can be "layered" as the main wallets (Core or 3rd-party) as 1st layer. Next would be the addresses in it. It will depend on how the majority will adopt to it.

High BTC with high value without any uses will crash if it stays like this. Just Supply and Demand in the pseudo-markets?
This is not Gold which you can craft, fueling the demand.
This is not Diamond that is scarce, even against low demand.
This is a "currency" people.

They should take the right action for the best result.
6133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining fee high on: December 09, 2017, 04:26:59 AM
Hi,

Can someone explain to me why people keep saying bitcoin fees are low? I transferred some bitcoin to my ledger and it cost like $14 and change that seems like the same amount a bank would charge right? So I don't quite understand how their fees or mining fees are low.
Are you using a third-party service like coinbase or coins? These services usually take a percentage from your every transactions as a fee.

If you're using a "semi" 3rd party client like Electrum, you can choose how less you want to pay, in return, the more time you're willing to wait for the confirmation.
6134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO]FAST INVEST - Real FinTech Business, More Than 8500 Customers, 50 Team on: December 08, 2017, 06:09:30 AM
Look at the Ethereum's transaction (right now), it's filled with "Kitties".
And we all know that it is slowing the system.

I think this is affecting the ICO in some degree.
Some people loses their eagerness to join when seeing a slow increase in the progress.

Just sharing my insight.
6135  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: I just had this idea. on: December 08, 2017, 04:09:31 AM
What about a new company where you can sign up and have like a certain bitcoin address associated with your profile. then people could just add you to their chatting app with your QR code like snapchat. you could add anyone in the world and all you would need was their QR code! and you could transfer money from the two accounts....so like you could easily send someone btc in this chatting app
Coins already doing that except the service is limited to some countries only. And it's undirectly integrated with facebook which contains the profile of the users. It also requires you to verify that you're the real person associated with your account for legal purposes.
That way, it's easily acceptable by the government.
6136  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at $15,000 ATH now. Where do we go from here? POLL. on: December 07, 2017, 02:16:30 PM
Did you really mean February 1st, 2019?
There are a lot of things that will happen before that date.
Is it 2018?

Anyways, I voted for "have no clue". The trades are as quick as one step indicating that there are too much traders in the markets and most of them must be regular users who just taking every available supply to hold.
It's so unpredictable unless you know what those whales are up to.
6137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin go $15000 before 2018?! on: December 07, 2017, 02:02:47 PM
The thing that we can't accurately speculate what's happening to the price gives me chills.
Today, BTC has exceeded the # 15000 mark! It's incredible but that's what's going on! I like having BTC and Altcoin
It grew from 14k-15.7k (at the moment) in just one day!
Astonishing and scary at the same time. It looks like a bubble.
6138  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Crypto prices in real-time web site on: December 07, 2017, 05:23:04 AM
I don't think 2 minutes is considered "real-time".
We like it as lightweight as it is which is preferred by users. Adding a repeated pattern as background makes the Page neat but will not make the site heavy.
And as a rush upgrade to the "User-friendly" UI, change the Fonts, and add favicom to the page. (I doesn't take more than 5minutes to do).
6139  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Trojan in Electrum 3.0.0 wallet? on: December 07, 2017, 05:03:03 AM
Guys, I saw a post regarding electrum having two websites.
These two:
if you downloaded your wallet from the fake one,  it might be the cause of this.
I'm not accusing the other domain or anything.

Can anyone shed some light please. <edit> Thanks for the info, pooya87.
6140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Government put an hand to interfere the Cryptocurrency and tax us? on: December 07, 2017, 04:36:13 AM
To hell with the government, to hell with the bank, do not believe them. Bitcoin is our way to fight them, do not be afraid of what happens later, bitcoin will be a very valuable asset.
I'm afraid it's not going to happen with that kind of thinking.
How is this going to be a valuable asset if this stays the way this was forever?

There are too many ways to regulate this like:
  • The Government will act as the main wallet holder, the addresses will be issued to the holders (users/consumers/merchants) with licences at the same time.
At this point, us at the moment will either register their wallets for licences or stay under the radar.
Its our choice... at the moment in that point.
  • The Government makes their own Digital Currency as an alternative to fiat as the future of banking system. Making Bitcoin still active but with lower number of users.
Either way, they will make an action to whatever that will benefit their county.
