By that measure Bitcoin is a pyramid scheme too. While civilization seems to be degrading along with the global financial system Bitcoin is just getting started. I think Bitcoin going to really inflate that civilization bubble Type 1 civilization here we come. Smiley

Pyramid Scheme:

hehe if you superimpose the pyramid with its opposite it completes a Star of David whose points point to

Wow.  So unexpected.  You start at the top of the benefactor list for this for certain, Risto.

I have projects hungry for funds, but I like this project of yours, of tipping and fun.  Its like all the good things of Dogecoin but without any of the baggage and using BTC Bitcoin instead.  Love it.

I'd like to have half my award go to Goat, mostly for inspiring the CryptoCrypt.org as the successor forum but for so much more that he has done to promote Bitcoin, and the Bitcoin society.  He doesn't need it, but that's not really the point, is it?

The other half to cypherdoc, also doesn't need it, but such a stalwart supporter of Bitcoin, and I just like his sense of humor.  Always thought I'd do something for him if I got the opportunity, and so I have.  That is 500 mBTC for each of you.  Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do.

very cool project.  might as well get a multiplier effect going:

i'm going to pass my 500 mBTC generously given to me by New Liberty (thank you, i am honored!) to the matching Armory Simulfunding Project.  Alan (etotheipi) emailed me the other day asking for a donation and i think this will be perfect.  Plus, it will jog me to install his new 0.92 version so i can get some experience with multi-sig tx's.  from his website:

"To promote our revolutionary new multi-signature interface with simultaneous funding (aka simulfunding), Armory Technologies, Inc. (ATI) is offering to match up to 20 BTC in donations to a list of organizations & charities that promote Bitcoin, open-source, and digital freedoms.  The new simulfunding interface enables us to create and execute a very simple Bitcoin contract:  "if you donate X bitcoins to this organization, we will donate X bitcoins too."   The Bitcoin net"work enforces this agreement, removing the need for the two parties to trust each other.   The latest release of Armory unlocks this feature of the Bitcoin network and we are using it as an opportunity to donate to organizations that we support."

so am i to understand that online and offline 0.91.2 will work on 12.04.4?
6164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: August 01, 2014, 10:03:30 PM
for someone who claims to understand financial game theory as well as anyone, Rickards fails miserably when he says the Bitcoin "community" can just get together and back Bitcoin with gold. he sees "that" as a good idea.  such failure in the understanding of the game theory behind voluntary open source software participation.  we're all here because the supply is fixed and not backed by gold.  any fork that deviates from that will get ignored and fail miserably.  there's no "getting together".

it was a deeply failed "debate".  both those old dudes didn't want to get into a real debate as they've been on the same wavelength for so long that they didn't want to step on each others toes so they lamely met in the middle of Bitcoin and gold being complementary.  having said that, at least Rickards isn't as openly hostile towards Bitcoin as he's been in the past and we now have Turk openly supporting Bitcoin.  that's progress.

so i tried to install the offline bundle to 12.04 LT 32 bit Ubuntu but it says a python * library was missing.

I suspect you grabbed the latest versino of 12.04 which is 12.04.4.  The website clarifies that the bundles were created before that and should be used with 12.04.3.  It has a download link to get 12.04.3.  I've been meaning to swap out the bundle packages so it will work with .4 but we just forgot to do it for 0.92

yeah that's it.  what should i do?

The Armory download page has a link to 12.04.3.  When you click on one of the offline bundles in the download table, read the text that shows up and you'll see the link.  Create a new VM based on that.

the pain w/ this upgrade just won't stop.  just now am almost done downloading bc to 12.04.4.  as you know, have been having trouble with the torrent so had to resort to p2p.  now i'll have to install 12.04.3 on both systems along with the bc.

i think i'll just wait for everything to be 12.04.4 compatible

Jim Rickards vs. James Turk

Rickards has come a long way but still doesn't understand Bitcoin. Turk is OK, but also misses so much.  They both think gold and Bitcoin are complementary. Wrong :

follow thru on high volume... and it's still early in the day comparatively:

6.  look the hell out.

what was it? "the flight to safety"? "the run on bitcoin"?

i meant look the hell out if you have traditional financial investments.
6172  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: August 01, 2014, 04:00:14 PM
1.  silver trying to hold on -->  leads gold.
2.  hint:  SLW negative.
3.  during the last crisis, both the USD and UST strengthened.  it's likely we won't be so lucky this time and may only get one of those sought as a safe haven.  take your pick which one but the point is it represents degradation if we get only one.

6173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: August 01, 2014, 03:49:48 PM
so today's follow-on from yesterday's bullish engulfing daily candle tells us a few important things:

1.  we've likely had a major reversal in trend from an intermediate term bottom at 555.9
2.  this is the first, and possibly the 2nd time in Bitcoin's history where we might be able to claim that it is a safe haven from traditional financial turmoil, as in Cyprus, and yesterday's -317.06 stock mkt crash.
3.  despite today's gold bounce, the fact that yesterday they were inversely correlated during the stock mkt crash, tells me at least, that this inverse correlation will continue.  i consider gold's bounce today a dead cat bounce.
4.  there's more to come to the downside in traditional mkts-we've likely hit the extended 4yr cycle top in the Dow
5.  for the last 5yr, the primary dealers have laid all their toxic debt off on their sovereigns; the next crisis is likely to happen in sovereign debt.  we came close with Greece and Cyprus.  but now Argentina looks to be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
6.  look the hell out.

Resistance is futile is why.

actually, there was one other reason i gave it up; tvbcof.

that SOB would constantly troll me and my newsletter, out of envy i'd guess, trying to provoke me.  you can tell he's envious b/c of the things he says about how y'all ought to be thanking him for making this or that call.  he'd say all sorts of disrespectful stuff to try and discourage subscribers to my letter.  as a professional with a Bitcoin business, i couldn't fight back.  now that i've discontinued it, the gloves are off any time he comes around here and trolls me for no good reason.  i'll bet he even noticed a pick up in my willingness to retort but doesn't know why. now he does.

just a little history.

Time to rocket up.

I love how Cypher has essentially discontinued his private news letter and has now given a quasi-version of his letter publicly in this thread.

Loving it.  Grin Grin Grin

if you'll remember, i established the newsletter cuz i was getting tired of sharing my ideas only to be heavily trolled here in this thread.  figured i'd just share with the ppl who appreciated me.

did that, was highly successful, trolling here mostly disappeared, i got tired of publishing it, and now i'm right back here still doing it.  Grin

you can see why Apple was forced to reimplement Bitcoin wallets:
