If you're not familiar with moola, check it out at www.moola.com. I want to see a similar site, but using bitcoins instead of $$$. Someone make it.  EDIT: The basis of the Moola site is that it gives out a free penny if you have a zero dollar balance. The same premise should apply to a bitcoin site as well - give the player a free bitcent (or probably less, given how much more a bitcent is worth than a USD), then let them play against other people to try and move up the ladder. Pay for the free BTC by showing the players ads (either video ads, or just general ads on the site). I also particularly enjoy the gold rush game, so something like it would be a requirement.  |

90c is absolutely fine. If Sapphire or ATI thought 90c was unsafe, they would have designed their software to throttle the card sooner. As it is, it only starts throttling clockspeed when it hits 91c. I would feel comfortable up to 100c before I started worrying, as I'm sure Sapphire/ATI also builds in a little "safe zone" as well. Everyone gets so dang paranoid about GPU temps.  |

You should really consider why you would need a full keyboard, in what scenarios are people going to need to type in rediculous bitcoin addresses?
And why not make those very few people use a small usb keyboard instead of increasing the cost of hundreds of units?
In what scenarios would you NOT need to type in an address? QR codes are the only one I can think of, and not everyone is going to have one of those handy... How about I just add a button to the QR scanner interface that uploads it to my server for some OCR, and sends back the address. As long as you can get a clear picture, you would probably only have to change one or two characters at most (hell, my 5 year old scanner has some good OCR in its free software suite, it can defiantly convert a bitcoin address). Might be worth a shot. I still like the idea of a keyboard, but it looks like I'm outvoted. |

IMHO, people would (should?) not type in bitcoin addresses. They would either load them from a camera or from bluetooth. The device would be better, simpler and cheaper with only a number pad and a few more buttons for navigation and control. You're making the assumption that both persons involved in a transaction would have a BitClip. What happens when I want to pay someone for an item on CL, we meet in a public place, I show up with my BitClip, and he shows up with his address printed out, and I have no way to pay him because he doesn't have bluetooth or a way to generate a QR code? |

Even with the price move back over 8 I show hash rate at 12.668 Thash/s and only 6740 BTC/day, 930 block remaining making the next difficulty change in 7 days or is my math way off?
Sounds about right. Either way, this is excellent news for me. It means that mining *should* remain profitable for me for quite some time, as other people seem to have higher variable costs than I do. Especially in the winter, but even in the summer with A/C, as long as the price is over $7, I'm still making money. |

So, like I said before, the scales are matched up on purpose. If the total computing power starts to drop below the red line for a significant period of time, you can expect difficulty to be reduced accordingly.
No, you can never see the difficulty line go down, it just goes up. There's no way to make it "easier" to generate coins, in an ultimate scenario, if we have one single miner, he would be for sure getting his 50 coins... but would take ages before his block gets created. It doesn't rely on "a need for X coins to be generated per day". I don't think you understand how difficulty works. If it takes more than 2 weeks to generate 2016 blocks, then the difficulty WILL decrease. It's programmed into the client/node to do so. We just haven't actually had that happen yet, so that's why you see no reduction in the "red line". |

Also, there concepts. Not the final word. I would also think that just a numpad would be bad. I might see about getting a base58 keypad made or other. I was thinking we could put a camera in the back that was perma-focused at about 5 inches for scanning qr-codes (maybe even upload images for some sort of OCR? Probably not, but its an idea. I actually based the design off a blockified blackberry, reduced to a numpad and with a d-pad instead of a trackpad. I've personally seen some people type pretty fast and accurate with a numpad though, i've even seen computer keyboards that were just a numpad.
Don't have a custom base58 keyboard made. Non-standard components will just make it more expensive. Find an existing qwerty keyboard in the size you want, and figure out how to integrate it into the device. A camera is an excellent idea, and I would say it's almost necessary. Can you imagine waiting in line at a retailer while you wait for the person in front of you to painstakingly input all 34 characters of a bitcoin address, only for the checksum to not match and they have to do it all over again? I would become rather agitated. I wouldn't set the focus at a permanent 5" though. Some QR codes will be much bigger than could be scanned from just 5" away (example: Meze Grill). The camera would need to have an autofocus mechanism. I would not buy or be interested in a device with just a numpad for input. I absolutely abhor phones that are that way, even though I became pretty quick at entering in that method myself. It's just plain obnoxious to type on one - enough to the point where I won't even consider purchasing a device that only has that method of data entry. You try to find a decent qwerty keypad that wouldn't cost more then a few cents less then a custom of the same size. (when ordering in bulk). Now that i actually put thought into it, a qwerty keypad would be best. Im not 100% sure we can find a cheap camera that would work in a device that has autofoucs. Maybe a good old manual focus ring? Eh, I'm no good at finding the parts. Good luck with the hunt though. Manual focus wouldn't hurt for a first run of a product. I understand the need to find things cheaply. |

I'm going to go ahead and suggest that the crossover potentially signals a market bottom, just because we've been in a steady downtrend for two months and this is the first time that something has changed.
The difficulty and hash rate are on different scales in that graph. There is no "crossover". But the scales are matched to where difficulty = estimated difficulty at X MH/s. Nope, that's not what the other than red (difficulty) line means, the other 3 lines means "Computer power allocated" and that graph shows that many miners are leaving, nothing else. (ultimately that may mean also that less coins will be generated, blocks will take longer to generate and therefore transactions will be slower to confirm) Sorry, but you're wrong. At the current difficulty rate (1888786), it would take about 13,520 GH/s to generate 7,200 bitcoins/day (which is the target). Guess where that red difficulty line lines up on the GH/s scale to the left?  As you can see on the chart, I have extended the red line to hit the scale on the left, for easily visualizing the scenario. I have also added tickmarks and counters for every 10 pixels on the graph. Each segment of 5,000 GH/s is 92 pixels tall. The line hits at pixel #66. 66/92 = 71.74% of the way up from 10,000 GH/s to 15,000 GH/s. 71.74% of 5,000 GH/s = 3,587 GH/s. 10,000 + 3,587 = 13,587 GH/s. While that doesn't match exactly with my figure of 13,520 GH/s, one can only be so accurate with pixel math. So, like I said before, the scales are matched up on purpose. If the total computing power starts to drop below the red line for a significant period of time, you can expect difficulty to be reduced accordingly. |

A user of the bitcoinfeedback.com site brought up a good point to me... it is difficult, in most cases, to determine the general range or value of each transaction done with BTC on the site. For instance, if someone has 10 positive feedback, how can I know that they didn't just do 10 0.1 BTC transactions, and now they're trying to rip me off when I buy a laptop from them?
The solution, of course, would be to implement a field for inputting the value of the transaction in BTC. So if two people trade 40 BTC for a laptop, they leave each other feedback, and both write 40 BTC for the value.
Problem is, many people might feel that listing the specific amounts is a bit intrusive from a privacy aspect.
The solution then, is implementing ranges of values of BTC for each transaction. For instance, have a drop-down menu with the following options listed:
0 - 1 BTC
1 - 10 BTC
10 - 100 BTC
100 - 1000 BTC
1000+ BTC
Another option might be attempting to anonymize the BTC value from the rest of the feedback entry. Perhaps a sum and average of the BTC for all of the positively-rated transactions made vs a sum and average of the BTC for all of the negatively-rated transactions made. Problem is, a person would have to have at least 2 positive and 2 negative entries in order to show these averages, or it wouldn't be anonymous.
Thoughts? Any better suggestions? I think the range idea is the best personally, but it is obviously a difficult problem that has many potential solutions.
