622  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB Bitcoin Miner Price Drops 80% to 0.175 BTC on: August 04, 2013, 07:07:15 PM
The implication is that old stock is being cleared.

I guess it's a matter of waiting for the truth to come out.

Does that mean they are clearing old stock to prepare for a new version of the miner?
Or just get rid of every ASICMiner USB out there?
623  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Rumors on: August 03, 2013, 07:08:52 PM
Yes, this is an very interesting development.

The question is when will the price be lower than 0.35BTC for us whom haven't ordered before?

624  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: USD You Would pay for 1 GH/s Right Now on: August 02, 2013, 08:47:09 PM
Agree...

I did however purchase an Erupter, which gives me around 336 Mhps, which in month and half I should get what I pay for the device. Then afterword's will pure profits.

I don't mine it, being that I have my computer 24/7 online and im getting power direct from the usb.

But I did the math and its the only option is going with ASIC and the cheap ones.

Funny you agree on everything he says.
But in the next sentence you contradict everything he just said by explaining how mining is profitable.
You bought an Erupter and you expect profit in a month and half. How can mining not be profitable then?

625  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed]Avalon Chips - 0.081 BTC (Global+Escrow)-BATCH2 SECURED on: July 29, 2013, 10:24:20 PM
Have you completed your estimates of what your pricing will be for everything?  I would like to add you to my table, you have been in the links for a long time, but I'm not seeing anything in the OP that shows information I would need to add you.  (at least price and speed of miner)

Have you checked his website?  Smiley
626  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: USB Block Erupter Price Drop on: July 28, 2013, 09:06:20 PM
What's up with all these small ass miners?
How come K16 & K64's aren't available to the masses like these little miners?

Anyways do you have any links to the 0.1BTC group buy?  Tongue

While we're (sort of) on the subject -

could an OG PS3 running YellowDog Linux be adapted for mining?

I know the answer is likely Yes, now someone with more Linux experience than me needs to make it happen. And post step-by-step instructions.

Or, even better, Kickstart it!

Unfortunately it won't do much better than a modern CPU. 38 kHash/s mining litecoin. Save your electricity pal!

Well not surprising, the website looked like shit too me.  Tongue
Anyways if you are interested in a K16 you can get one from t13hydra: http://www.alphahpc.com/

I don't know if you can trust him though, but he is a very active member of the community.

Delivery is in September.
629  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike Kxx - Italian Company - Europe Only on: July 23, 2013, 09:05:14 PM
So what's the delivery date on these?

630  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: USD You Would pay for 1 GH/s Right Now on: July 23, 2013, 12:56:52 AM
If you pay 50 bucks for the miner it might take 3 months to gain profit.
But so what? It's still your own hard earned bitcoins right?
631  Economy / Services / Re: Shibaji's Your Man in USA service (small jobs, buying/shipping etc.) on: July 14, 2013, 11:17:42 PM
Curious what your stance is on marking the packages you ship overseas with "Gift"?
I have noticed that Americans on eBay have a pretty hard stance on this. It's all about "criminal offence", blalblah...

If we make a deal in BTC and you send me a package marked as "Gift" the customs officers won't suspect anything right?
Just tell them you are sending something to a friend from Europe.

I don't get what the big deal is, if you buy stuff from China or HK they always mark it as "Gift" but I guess it's a bit more corrupted over there.

You get 0.5 Kh/s mining litecoin on a raspberrypi.

LOL, you guys are crazy.

If mining isn't profitable, how come people still are mining with GPU's?

Investing is always risky, but if you wise up a little and run the numbers there is always a way to make profit.
634  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which company to buy Chips? on: July 05, 2013, 08:14:15 PM
Well if you're going to be comparing group buys to buying direct from the manufacturer, why did you single BFL out? There are BFL group buys as well.

I wasn't aware there was any BFL group buys, if there is then thats great!
I still won't hop on the BFL train.

In my opinion Avalon delivers faster than BFL. There many more open source projects based on Avalon chip design etc..
I just consider Avalon the better alternative of the two.

Would you really buy BFL over Avalon?
635  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which company to buy Chips? on: July 05, 2013, 08:02:47 PM
How does Avalon's no-refund-for-any-reason make them better than BFLs no-refund policy?

Because you don't buy directly from Avalon. You are more protected as a consumer in a group buy thats all I'm saying.
(if you select a sane/trusted member to make the group buy)
636  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which company to buy Chips? on: July 05, 2013, 07:42:25 PM

No you arent covered from avalon's non-delivery.

The escrow group buys typically covers you from.
1. Group operator not placing order with avalon and running away with the funds.
2. Group operator not shipping you the stuff once avalon sends it. For this, the only collateral placed in escrow is the operators identity.. Then you must find your own ways to get your coin back.

Escrow only collects the coins for the buy, and sends it to avalon...

I understand what you are trying to say, but I would consider it as risk free as possible.
You can often read in the group buy threads something along the lines of: "In case of non-delivery, we will work as hard as we can to refund your money".

If you buy something from BFL, you can't be sure you will even be able to request a refund.
637  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which company to buy Chips? on: July 05, 2013, 05:56:48 PM
I would go with a AVALON group buy with escrow option, if I were you.

That way you are covered in case AVALON doesn't deliver.
638  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: USD You Would pay for 1 GH/s Right Now on: July 05, 2013, 05:54:14 PM
The problem isn't the prices, the problem is the availability as I see it.

There is only two ASICs available with instant delivery. And those perform badly compared to what they cost.

But don't beat yourself up, the price of BTC can skyrocket. It can go either way.
It's an investment the way I see it.

But before I make any purchase, I always check if i can get something better for my money.

639  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: USD You Would pay for 1 GH/s Right Now on: July 04, 2013, 12:17:43 PM
#fail

Mining game is over. The people who won were Avalon Batch 1-2. The people who are enjoying some success are those who are receiving BFLs now. The ones who ordered 2012 BFL's and Avalon batch 3 will see some profit. Anyone ordering mining equipment now is throwing money down the toilette.

You want to make money with bitcoin, find a way to be part of the economy of bitcoin. Make, create, sell, service etc. for bitcoin.

The only way a miner getting in the game now will make a return on their investment would be if Bitcoin saw a very solid steady rise in price. That's not happening as you can see anytime soon.

To my understanding the question was, how much would you pay for a miner with 1GH/s with INSTANT delivery.
Of course I wouldn't pay those amounts if delivery is in autumn.
But fact is you would get a small ROI if you got the miner today.

At least according to this list:

640  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: USD You Would pay for 1 GH/s Right Now on: July 03, 2013, 11:06:36 PM
If I would pay 500$ for a 5GH/s, you can guess what I would pay for 1 GH/s.  Tongue
