621  Economy / Economics / Re: What would you do in this situation? Invest or save? on: October 07, 2023, 09:15:38 PM
If you have plans to start a dream business that requires a capital of  $20,000 and you were able to make a savings of $15,000 which obviously isn't enough to start up the business, what would be your decision or advice?

1. Invest the $15,000 into a smaller business hoping that the returns will yield the remaining $15,000 in a short period. Note that this has the potential of failing and wasting the already-saved  $15,000.

2. Keep the $15,000 while doing other work that will yield the remaining money over a long period.

Would love to see your input or a better suggestion apart from the ones I pointed out above.

N/B
This is the typical situation a friend finds himself and we are just brainstorming in what best to do.

In my opinion, its better to start a smaller business, since I see a lot of businesses fail so it doesnt matter in my opinion how much your capital is you could still fail what ever capital you going to use, it is just a matter of how your going to execute it etc. So probably better to start at somehow most small capital like only 1k$ capital try a small business if it is really going to work, for sure it is not something like a big business probably going to be an online product thing only, or just a clothing brand.

What I mean is its not that easy to start a business there are also luck involved, so start at a very small one so that if you fail you could easily recover from it, then if you get lucky that business is going to be be big no matter what if the consumer like your product. So no need to save or invest you could always start at small capital, just do not gamble everything always have something on your investment and saving incase you fail you can easily recover from it.
622  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Halving cycle on: October 07, 2023, 11:58:17 AM
So far it seems like the Halving event does its job as we can see how the market price of Bitcoin skyrockets every time there is a Bitcoin halving event since it is going to affect the supply of Bitcoin. Right now the next Bitcoin halving event is going to happen estimated around 2024 which I think could be one of the catalysts that are going to trigger that Bullrun, as we can see the in Bitcoin halving timeline we can already see how the market price reaction to the Bitcoin halving event, most of the time after or around 1 year after the Bitcoin halving event we are going to see the Bullrun, so in my speculation the Bullrun might happen somewhere around 2024-2025, right now there was really no big movement in the market, but I think we are going to see a good momentum considering its ber months, possibly we are going to reach 40k$ before the end of the year, because there are going to be a hype every time the Bitcoin halving event is near, as far as I remember in the last event there was a small pump before the event then the market is going to realize that it is still not ready to skyrocket so it is going to drop down again.

I mean you have a good point, but I guess it wasn't really that bad to go for early profit as long as it is still a profit even though it wasn't a big amount of profit, profit still profits so it is still good enough, also it wouldn't really matter since you're going to have the opportunity to reinvest your money again in case the market price drop again if the market price starts to skyrocket again arent you going to sell your Bitcoin, I believed that there were just some investors that doesnt really have the plan to sell there Bitcoin which I think is a good move but isn't a waste since your investing in cryptocurrency or Bitcoin in order to make a profit right? probably some are going to save not only for profit, but let's be honest we all invest just to make a good amount of profit, so if we did make a good profit aren't you going to sell your holdings?

personally, I would sell a part of my investment if I think its already a good price to sell and I already make a good amount of profit, but I wouldn't really sell all of my Bitcoin or cryptocurrency since there is always a chance that its going to surpass its past price, where you could lose your opportunity if that happened, also if what happened is the opposite the market price continue to dump, I already make a good profit giving me the opportunity to reinvest that money or maybe use it to invest to a safer investment.
624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is my plan. on: October 06, 2023, 07:17:08 PM
I am still here to gather little knowledge about Bitcoin, I don't need enough knowledge, I can invest while learning Bitcoin, but the thing there is I am shuffling my self, so I will not be tangled while I am accumulating Bitcoin, I have come up with a plan of using the DCA method to accumulate a $50 monthly, my monthly payment from my job is $300, if my expenses will collect up $100 then $50 can be kept in crypto (Bitcoin) and another $100 for emergency funds then the remaining $50 can also be kept for personal things. Now is the best time to buy Bitcoin, I am not in a hurry to start investing Bitcoin, when the time comes for me to invest nothing will stop me to invest in BTC, as Bitcoin is not something I will start today and get rich tomorrow that is why I don't want to rush in to it. I will use electrum Bitcoin wallet to save my coins because I have learned so far that the electrum wallet is a safe wallet for any investors that what to hold Bitcoin for long, so I will be using it to hold my coins when I buy some Bitcoin, I will update when I buy my first BTC.

It was good enough for sure, you did a great job still doing savings and emergency funds, most of the newbies investments just straight up invest everything on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency nowadays not considering how risky this investment is, its always a great thing to still have good enough savings since if you have something like that your not just gonna end up selling your investment if you get an emergency and you quickly needed the money.

Dollar Cost Average is a great strategy to accumulate for sure, 50$ per month was I think a good investment already as long as you are consistent with your investment, or probably if you have extra you could add more if you see the market price is dropping a few percentage then you could lower it down when the price is pumping so that you could somehow get a discount and lower your risk.

Its also better if you will just have other sources of income since you could avoid selling your investment, and lower your risk in case you get fired from your full-time job something like that you have another source of income if that happened you doesnt to use your emergency fund since you still have income.

I'm very shocked to hear, that your monthly expenses are 100$. I mean really in today's world?  Cheesy If it is right, that's amazing from your side. And also, you can save very much in the future if you are going by that method which you have expressed here.

Putting some money for the emergency is a goof thinking by your side, as I have been suffering from this for a long time, when I was trading coins, I was in full profit. But a time came when the bull market had almost ended and the bear market started, so there I wasn't a single money to help my family or to invest a where because I hadn't put some money for a very important emergency. So, your planning for putting some money into the emergency is quite nice. 100$ for an emergency fund would be a good amount nowadays, and that will help you in your bad times.

In my country 100 per month is what I use just for my daily food allowance at work, just to be enough to buy lunch daily, it was kind of cheap I guess considering the inflation and high prices of food, etc.

626  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I heard about Bitcoin and my experience on it on: October 05, 2023, 03:49:52 PM
I heard about Bitcoin from a friend in the year 2013 when I just got admitted to college. I took  little interest in it, but I was unwilling to purchase it with my funds because it was not very popular then and I lacked much business mindset. I even got more discouraged owing to the fact that many ponzi schemes were present and I couldn't differentiate the bad from the good. To be honest, I  saw it as a liability, instead of an asset that it was. I later reluctantly purchased $230 worth of Bitcoin around May 2014 after much persuasion from my friend and seeing that the price was fast rising. The fall of 2015 shook me to my bones and I lost hope again because I lost so much funds. Depressed at the loss I've incurred and without much knowledge on HODLing my coins and the possibility of it experiencing an upward trend, I sold off all my coins, hated anything concerning crypto and swore never to get involved again. The bull run of 2019 -2020 happened under my watch, but I still kept my grudge which had then developed into fear that I will still loose my funds again. I have friends whom gained from the trend and became really wealthy while I was locked up in my pessimistic mindset. As I was introduced to this forum, I was able to see that Bitcoin held much more prospects then I ever thought and would ever believe. My convinctions are now positive and I'll be investing again. I wouldn't want to be left out for the third time. Bitcoin here I come!!!.

I mean it wasn't really a thing back then. Most of the investors that got lucky back there surely had really gambled that time because at that time there was really no proof that Bitcoin or cryptocurrency could be something like an investment that could make you a profit since it is just a new thing most of the people would normally think that it is a big scam, at even this day probably there are still a lot of people that would think that way. Even though you probably do your research about it you wouldn't find a good reason to invest in cryptocurrency at that time because even to this day market price of cryptocurrency and Bitcoin just depends on supply and demand so it is all just speculation meaning the market price is just so volatile and we are not sure if that market is going to start as time passes. So after 10 years, it's not guaranteed that you are going to make a profit or is it still going to exist at the time right?

As long as you know what you are doing and you know that you are only investing a small percentage of your money you can easily invest in Bitcoin with no problem since you could just invest and forget about I, so you could easily wait until Bullrun or something like that.

627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is for everybody but we must accept it before it can be ours. on: October 05, 2023, 02:50:29 PM

Accept bitcoin before it can be yours. Grin
People can decide something for their selfs whether good or bad, first of all we all have rights to do what so ever we want to do as long as it does not harm the next door neighbor but in my country the government has done what will harm the next door neighbor's.
On Bitcointalk I have seen topics that say Bitcoin is not for everyone maybe that thought is based on their own opinions, but I totally diagree with it, if I may ask who will see something good and reject it? No body, even if some people rejected it, it might be because of the laws from the higher authorities like government or military.
Bitcoin is for everybody, but we all have to accept it before it can be ours so I conclude that we must first accept bitcoin before we can have access to it and if you don't accept bitcoin you can't invest on it.

There are different points that are made here, for sure Bitcoin is for everybody as long as you want Bitcoin you can buy or invest in Bitcoin it doesnt really matter what your gender, nationality, etc. you could accept Bitcoin.

On the other hand, the topic of Bitcoin is not for everyone have a different point, because even though bitcoin is a great investment, digital currency, etc., and you could totally buy it or invest in it As I said it is still a very risky investment so you could still lose your money to this kind of investment, considering cryptocurrency or Bitcoin is one of the riskiest investment of your money that you could make, compared to other investment like what I've said before the market price of cryptocurrency is just so volatile, so the market price could easily drop in just a short amount of time or vise versa. So someone that doesnt really have a foundation like for example savings, emergency funds, insurance, or other safe investment, in my opinion, it is better for them to not start on Bitcoin as there first investment because they could lose there money here and without any savings you might not be able to recover at some point.

629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Keep learning newbies, The forum has a lot to offer on: October 04, 2023, 05:38:56 PM
Finally, I've observed that there are so much to learn in the forum, to the extent its sometimes overwhelming. There are so many intellectuals and professionals who display their wealth of knowledge at any concern. Its a good thing that there are people willing to create topics and contribute to meaningful topics created everywhere in the forum. I also observed the more I get engaged in the forum activities, the better I got at knowledge and exposure. I have resolved to learning and continuous learning to expand my knowledge personally and be able to grow to recognition in the forum one day in the nearest future. As fillipone rightly said in one of his posts, when you dedicate time to learning and readily share your knowledge with people in the forum, you grow not only in knowledge, but in the rewards of impacting meaningful knowledge "Merit". I'm now fully dedicated to continuous learning and contributions with a positive expectation of reaping the fruits of my labor pretty soon.
A note to my fellow newbies(I'm definitely leaving that rank soon), keep learning and striving, everything we wish for will materialize.  But first, you've got to learn, learn and learn!!!.

The forum is actually the best cryptocurrency and Bitcoin forum out there and Satoshi Nakamoto is actually the one who created this forum, Personally, I really learned a lot in this forum probably when I was just getting started I was just a student that's the time when I first know about cryptocurrency and I dont really have any idea what it is at that time. But luckily I discovered this forum from a friend where he invited me because he think that cryptocurrency and Bitcoin is just the great thing that is going to be popular in the future, In the long run, I slowly got interested in Bitcoin seeing how the market price of Bitcoin increase and skyrocket from around 400$ to an all-time high, I invested a little amount that time and earn a good enough profit, but there are as well some loses.

The forum is actually the one that makes me realize a lot of things that I can apply today in investing in cryptocurrency and Bitcoin, Honestly you can consider yourself lucky knowing or as a member here in the forum, so make sure to learn here in the forum and dont just wast your opportunity to earn a good amount of profit in the forum, especially in the coming Bullrun where cryptocurrency is already a big time because of the adaptatio.

630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop discouraging people from Bitcoin... on: October 04, 2023, 03:29:56 PM
I have noticed something about some people in this forum...

Why is it that everytime a newbie shows his or her interest in trading Bitcoin, some people will always try to discourage the newbie?  You see them saying things like “Bitcoin trading is not for newbies”

None of us here was born a professional trader, fact is that we all had to start from somewhere. We were all once a newbie, until we started learning and putting in the work.

So when you see a newbie ask for advice on how to start up on their journey in Bitcoin trading, don't try to discourage them, rather give them the advice on how they can start, and also let them be aware of the risks and how to avoid it. If we must grow the community, then we have to learn to encourage everyone to get along, and not try to discourage them.

Bitcoin is for everyone, and no one should be left behind.
Thanks.

Sure Bitcoin is for everyone that's for sure, it doesnt really matter what kind of people or nationality you are you can buy Bitcoin. But at the same time, I kind of understand why members here say that bitcoin trading is not really just something that you could easily start because Bitcoin is probably the riskiest investment that you could make if you compared it to other investments like the stock market, real estate, etc.

So members are just giving some advice to newbies here in the forum, because even though Bitcoin is for everyone you could easily lose money here in cryptocurrency, so I guess it's easy to say that you are going to invest but when you are already investing that is the hard part because most of the time beginners are easily get afraid in the market especially when the market is going down this newbies doesnt have the foundation yet on holding their investment, also if you doesnt have other sources of income you might just end up selling you cryptocurrency if something came up like an emergency because your just depending on cryptocurrency profit, personally that is what happened to me, so when I realize it, I really do my best to have multiple sources of income and it becomes really easy to hold because you have enough and you could just forget about your cryptocurrency when though its pumping or dumping.

631  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Si Satoshi Nakamoto nga ba ito? on: October 03, 2023, 11:59:50 PM
632  Economy / Speculation / Re: Even Seasoned Analysts Can Get it Wrong on: October 03, 2023, 06:55:38 AM
This article: $23,000 Bitcoin (BTC) Prediction Changed by Analyst Benjamin Cowen is a proof that no one knows the future.  Benjamin Cowen is a prominent analyst that states that Bitcoin will be hitting 23k at the end of September.

Quote
Arman Shirinyan
Analyst Benjamin Cowen's bearish prediction for Bitcoin hitting $23,000 in September proved to be off mark

Since his prediction is out of line he admitted that he was wrong in his prediction:

The article also stated that instead of Bitcoin plummeting to $23k, Bitcoin market instead shows a more stable outlook.

This simply shows that even veterans and seasoned analyst with their accumulated market experience cannot predict the future price of Bitcoin.  It is not because of unpredictable Bitcoin market volatility but because they are just human who has no power to see the future.  Imagine if an investor shorts his trade to buy at lower price because he believe on the prediction of Cowen that price will go down to $23k at the end of September, this person could have been in a loss.

So this is a great reminder to us investors to not just believe anything that a person, no matter how popular or knowledgeable they are, stated without doing any researches to verify their statement.  After all it was out money that is on line.

It is a pretty normal thing and it's normal to be wrong at times like this since we all know that we can't really predict the market, even though you are already an expert or just a newbie trader you still can predict the movement of the market for sure, that just means that these successful traders still loses money when they gamble probably in future trades. I mean there was no shame in it since it was all just speculation, surely we they can predict the market accurately then the market probably is just going to collapse since they just going to continue to drain the market.

To be honest, there was no expectation at the market price of Bitcoin this year probably it is just going to be a small pump just because Bitcoin halving was near, I think it also happened last Bitcoin when the Bitcoin halving was near we going to see little few pumps and considering that ber month was a good month for sure. And then the hype is going to slow down as soon as we are getting near to the halving event.

633  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a mentor in my bitcoin journey. on: October 02, 2023, 11:38:30 PM
I have made a bold decision to start my bitcoin journey. But just like every a new born baby needs close care and attention to grow I really don't want to make a mistake in any thing I am doing. I have this question to ask.
''Is it advisable to to have a mentor who I can always go to as a newbie in the crypto space or I should rely all my knowledge on things I read online for my growth.

One thing that I learned from a podcast is you need to find a mentor who could teach you, I mean its probably not going to be a direct mentor but if you're just going to do it by yourself it is going to be difficult and you're going to make a lot of mistakes at first which is pretty normal since we all make mistakes, but there was a way to avoid making mistakes If you're going to find a mentor or probably research about it, ask someone about it first you could probably learn from their mistakes avoiding possible mistakes that you could do in your investment.

I mean it's a good thing that we are in the forum because we have a lot of discussions and I think its already similar to finding a mentor because you also learning and they are teaching you how you going to execute, so your surely gonna need a mentor but it doesnt really need to be a personal one or only one mentor, you could ask here in the forum, which is the answer by a lot of experience member that could easily teach you what their experience is.
634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in bitcoin and forget the investment on: October 02, 2023, 04:59:36 PM
Bitcoin investment, this is the opportunity for someone who wants to invest in bitcoin to invest in bitcoin without looking back, because anyone that invest in bitcoin now will make a profit during bullrun, the price of bitcoin is fluctuating and it does want to up since the price has being to twenty six thousand [26] is over one month or less than one month the price is being unrotational for price, I think that any one that plan to become a billionaire in bitcoin this is the opportunity to invest in bitcoin against next bullrun.

The way I'm looking at next bullrun am thinking that the bullrun will be something that will push bitcoin price  to approach hundreds thousands [100] for the price, but people will not invest now. I split my funds currently to different of coins expecting that if I don't make profit in any of the coins when bullrun comes I will surely make profit in bitcoin because bitcoin price now is no longer going downward or going upwards, but any move the price will make to go up the price will increase, I'm expecting the price of bitcoin to rise in 2025 and 2026 so any investment in bitcoin  should be expected till next two years or three years time. Summary, invest in bitcoin and forget about the investment and hope that you will make profit after some years coming.

I mean for sure it is probably an effective strategy if you're just going to forget about your Bitcoin because probably the market price is just going to increase when it already Bullrun and the easiest way to hold your Bitcoin is just to forget about it so that the price is going to increase over time. But I guess it is just easy to say, if you can actually do that it's going to be a good strategy but it wasn't really easy since when the market drop there are always fear, and most of the investors are getting FUD, and ended up selling their Bitcoin at a wrong market price.

Still the best thing I guess is just to DCA since if you can really buy Bitcoin at big volume since it's going to be expensive, Bitcoin is still a very risky kind of investment even though we said and believed this kind of things that probably it is going to happen or we are going to make a good profit when the Bullrun comes as long as we hold our Bitcoin. It is still not a guaranteed investment because the market price is just determined by a lot of factors and one of it is just supply and demand, and there was really no proof or anything since it's a digital currency it doesnt have any tangible assets like gold. So in the end all of it are just speculation it wasn't guaranteed that it is going to happened, we dont really know if Bullrun is still going to happened.

635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Knowledge vs hodlings on: October 01, 2023, 11:55:20 PM
I mean it would be easy just to get the knowledge first then if you then you already know Bitcoin and know what you're doing already then start investing and start holding your Bitcoin already, for sure you are going to make some mistakes, but you have this forum that could help you in some of your problems, personally, this forum is where I learn most of my knowledge in cryptocurrency space and pretty much all you need is already here.

In my experience, it wasn't really just the knowledge that you need in order to hold, what you need is multiple sources of income, because you can't really HODL if you just depend on one source of income,  meaning you're depending on the profit of cryptocurrency so if you needed that money badly your just gonna end up selling your cryptocurrency at a wrong price or wrong timing.

Both are still needed for sure, knowledge for sure is important and if your not going to use that knowledge and apply that on your holdings it would just be useless in the end so start your cryptocurrency journey if you think you already have the knowledge and apply it.

637  Economy / Economics / Re: Is academic pursues enough to get incomes? on: October 01, 2023, 11:22:11 PM
I really want know if getting more degrees can make life financially better because I come from a country where their are no job and I have seen people that the only thing they can do in life is to read books, getting more degrees attaining all these degrees yet no still go job for them with good pay. Do think people who read in a region with slim job opportunities are doing the right thing?

Most people who go for more degrees believe they can get better job at the end of the day. People that only go for more degrees in a stare with high unemployment rate are they doing right thing by putting all their focus on academic because this is the only thing they can do best.

It might not need to be a degree probably just a vocational course would be enough to learn about income and finances how you going to manage it something like investment how you going to get financial freedom etc. I just think that it is what the educational system doesn't teach us how we are going to manage our finances and how are we going to invest, insurance and everything, it almost seems like we are getting programs after our education so that we would just become an employee, not something like starting a business something like that.

In my personal experience having this kind of knowledge about finances is really a good help since it did change a lot since I changed my mindset when it comes to my finances, I take it very seriously and budget my salary and make sure that I have multiple sources of income in order to make a good saving and positively invest in the future to a passive income or something like a business, i just listens to a lot of podcast about financial and eventually learned a lot about it and apply it to my financial as well.
638  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let fear to lose be motivation to learn on: October 01, 2023, 10:05:08 PM
Since I know cryptocurrency my biggest fear is to lost all my capital or large amounts in trading or investment, because of the fear in me I don't do things that I'm not sure of or things I don't know. My fear to lose have always been a motivation or a reason for me to know things concerning cryptocurrency,  I fear to start trading when I'm of myself that I know nothing to trade , fear to start investment when I know that I don't have a source of income.

My fear have been a motivation to learn,  even If I start trading I may lose but not to lose everything because of the understanding I have. My fear to lose have always made me to take the right decisions and not to make money money my first ultimate in trading and investment but understanding as my first priority.

I know some of my mates who are into  cryptocurrency that phobia to lose but even with the fear to lose they still go ahead to trade. If beginners allows their fear to motivate them to learn first their won't be drastic lose in trading.

I mean for sure not all the time we are making the right decision here somethings we might just get lucky and sometimes we might just be unlucky about it, its just normal to be fear if you dont know what your doing at first if your going to think about it like driving a car, if your just a newbie and you dont know how your going to drive a car for sure at first you are afraid to hit the accelerator and most of the time you just slam the brake because you are afraid but as soon as you progress and learn how to drive that fear disappear because you know how to do it completely.

Its a good thing I guess since we are here in the forum meaning as soon as we just continue our journey here in the forum we are still learning a lot here, there are a lot of things that we need to learn as well as how we are going to protect ourselves against scams and hack since they are developing a lot of new ways, and probably we want to learn new strategy that we like on investing, for sure its going to be easy as soon as we are active here in the forum.
639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and gambling which one has done you more harm on: October 01, 2023, 04:21:36 PM
When we gamble what we are looking after or expecting is money which is [profit] and when buy bitcoin and invest what we are looking after is [profit] and when you so many people they skip bitcoin investment to gamble and some uses very big amount of money to gamble whereas the same amount of money will achieve some fraction in bitcoin investment. So I come with this question to know the thing between this option or words I presented the one that done you more harm, if bitcoin  has done you more harm during the times you invested in bitcoin you can tell the public and if gambling has done you more harm by losing in gambling frequently you can also tell the public.

But for me I think gambling is the one that done people more harm than bitcoins investment, because almost every day people gamble with different platforms but its few of people that invest in a day or weekly, I will like us to discuss these.

I mean, to be honest, they are completely similar since gambling is gambling your money so it probably a fifty-fifty chance or could be lower depending on the game you gambling so most of the time you're probably going to lose money at gambling, there are probably people that is very lucky to win on gambling but there are only a few, and if your planning to gamble you're probably going to lose money as well.

Bitcoin on the other hand is different since it is a kind of investment, I mean for sure they have some similarities since they are both risky for your money, for sure if you do future trades we might call it similar to gambling since you just betting if the market price is going to go up or down right and if you get the wrong guess your going to lose your money. Compared to traditional investing in Bitcoin, you might lose a few or a huge percentage on Bitcoin, and until you sell your Bitcoin you not really going to lose money at some point.

So for sure gambling is going to do more harm to you if you do both gambling and Bitcoin, but still it would depend if you just gamble a small amount of money and just for fun I guess it wouldn't really matter much.
