621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens when the US makes crypto-currency illegal? on: May 27, 2013, 11:21:28 AM

Do you actually have any evidence there are such mysterious objects in this universe as citizens?

Do me a favour and tell what a citizen is factually.

A citizen is an undead cartoon of a human, an enslaved payer of protection money to the state/church mafia, farmed in monogamous pairing families.

This is an opinion. I asked for facts. I wanted him to tell me what a citizen is factually.

BTW, I find your opinion on what a citizen is 99% in concordance with mine  Grin

I thought it was fact. Perhaps if you read it again you might discover why you question the fact of this. I find it quite strange that Zombies have been created by the state. I'm not using it as a derogatory term but as factual.

Calling a Zombie an "undead cartoon of a human" might be a good euphemism, or an incredible accurate description, I'm not sure which.

Hooray, for the awakening, let's trade freely without middlemen. I'd like to meet in Perth to trade BTC for what have you?

that blows my mind! a sentient program can own property!

Wow, that is incredible. Satoshi IS the Cyberchrist. He given to A.I. Property!!!

Having online property that does not require the "protection" of government.

This might slow down Bitcoin, but it wouldn't stop it.

Military grade cryptography changes the rules of the game forever, just as nuclear weapons did, though in a completely peaceful way. It exists, there are open source implementations in the hands of the public, it cannot be uninvented, and it has many legitimate purposes. It leaves society with a stark choice: either we allow it, in which case its tremendous power has far-reaching consequences, both good and bad, or we try to suppress it, in which case we need draconian measures and will likely at most succeed in taking it away from honourable citizens rather than criminals, who will not be deterred. Radical liberty or tyranny. There are of course less dramatic compromises in between, but I think we'll find that the power of cryptography makes these compromises unenforceable.

See: Untraceable Digital Cash, Information Markets, and BlackNet

For me this is a significant post. I'm Impressed to see someone else express this opinion in such a logical manner. Clearly I agree strongly enough to add my support for this position.

Ok, so everyone was late... but it did actually happen. I'm not sure we really got much done but it was at least interest to discuss some topics with people who have a clue.

After a lot of time discussing Altcoins and what is good or bad about them, I went on my own to the Perth Mint and paid $10 for the tour. The obvious Propaganda explains how wonderful the Government of Western Australia is for offering incentives for people to look for gold. How the Government created the gold rush. I tried not to be offended by the tour guide who seemed to marvel at his own significants because he was pouring gold. (Given the money, any 5 year old could do it) I won't detail the rest of the Propaganda, I switched of and enjoyed the highlight, seeing liquid gold poured out.

Someone called out the One Kilogram coin as a fake, I don't know, perhaps it was just awful lighting, but it didn't have the shine you expect from gold... and after he said it... I said, "the emperor has no cloths" and a few people seemed to agree

There was a whole bunch of stuff there that said it was gold, as an amateur I can't really argue with conviction, I can say it didn't look real to me.

Honestly I've picked up more gold and handled more gold at a coin shops.

On the whole it was a disappointing experience, I'd recommend it if you want to go and hear the Government story about how awesome the Government is, and see a bureaucrat pour gold while congratulating himself on how awesome he is.

629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will go Viral on: May 25, 2013, 11:00:51 AM
Right on,

The discovery of what unites our shared consciousness is surely the realm of dreams. Bitcoin? what is that. It means nothing. It cannot save us from the arm of righteousness that denies evil exists. Search alone I must, until others discover the glory of Satoshi. A true saint as long as we never know who he is?
630  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt Gox laughable support answers on: May 25, 2013, 04:34:17 AM
If mount Gox has you Goxxed and wanting to try another exchange. I can't tell you about BTC-e.com support because I've never needed it. I can tell you that it's been Russian reliable for some time

Thanks for all you votes guys... it's very exciting to watch. I think I'm begginning to see a pretty obvious trend here and I have to say... I like it Smiley I will take the advice about gold and silver... I do have some of both... but I'm glad I've got enough BTC to be interested in where this is going Smiley

thanks again everyone for your comments and votes Smiley
632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will go Viral on: May 24, 2013, 10:43:14 AM
Wow some fantastic artwork guys Smiley I don't know if I was the first to coin the term Bitcoiner as I'm sure others will coin the term independantly. Bitcoiner has a nice ring to it and I especially like the art with the German... "I be a Bitcoiner" Smiley... Is that a correct translation?

All of the pics are inspiring... I love you Bitcoiners.

I'd love to see more photo's and creativity like this... also links to any songs that have a Bitcoin theme.

Here's one from ZhouTonged... I don't know the history... but I love the track

Enjoy

I have observed that ribuck is defending the position of sites to give in to the fear of being shut down. While I'm not surprised that some Bitcoiners are still Statists, I hope to see less replies from Statists in the future.

"feel free to operate a truly uncensored site, and see how long it lasts" - this has the tone of someone who wants you try only because he expects you to be crushed by censorship.

I don't need to try... Satoshi is the Cyberchrist and his code will make everyone free Tongue
634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will go Viral on: May 23, 2013, 03:39:48 PM
Quote

Most sites don't censor because they want to; they censor because they will eventually be closed down if they don't. But...

What evidence do you have for this claim that self censorship is done out of fear? Does their submission to the threat of being closed down justify their use of censorship?

I would argue they have chosen a side.
635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin will go Viral on: May 23, 2013, 10:08:10 AM
I've noticed that since the first couple of things that went viral (think "Charlie bit my finger") nothing on the net has really "gone viral" because of censorship.

One of the last video's on YouTube that I remember going really Viral was called "the YouTube Dictatorship by DireBoris... it had millions of views very quickly and he was accused of using bots... yeah right lol... I was one of them.

over the next few months his channel got progressively harder to find in search results despite using his exact name... then 3 months later his account was deleted by YouTube.

This kind of censorship really sux... and YouTube has become such a pathetic add driven machine, it's impossible to really have "viral content"

This is where Bitcoin comes in... is it possible that this will be the first thing to really "Go Viral" in a decade? is it possible that our collective consciousness has actually forgotten what "Viral" looks like because it's been so long?

I'm going to answer this poll by saying "bitcoins will go viral" but I'm going to allow people to change there answers to this poll so that over time we can see if there is eventually a consensus that we have really achieved "Viral" status.

Any comments in support of your answers or related discussion is welcome Smiley
636  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC buying power of Gold!?!? on: May 23, 2013, 06:35:54 AM
Thanks for the chart misterbigg. This looks like a good reason to expect the price of Gold to rise, do you have an opinion about how this will affect the BTC price? Is anyone willing to declare or defend a specific answer to my poll?
637  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC buying power of Gold!?!? on: May 23, 2013, 02:30:11 AM
Yes I would agree in principle. Do you have any suggestion for how to work out a theoretical BTC/Gold Price? Do you expect this to be reflected in the short term if the price of Gold suddenly rises?
638  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC buying power of Gold!?!? on: May 23, 2013, 01:40:48 AM
Thanks for you comments. I'm still not clear how you answered the Poll? You are welcome to argue for a particular answer. I agree that it would be exciting to see the Paper Price of gold a lot higher. This poll is actually much more focused on the BTC price per ouce... I will edit notes at the beggining to reflect that Smiley

Current BTC/ounce of Gold is???  how would you suggest it be worked out? using Fiat Paper Price or using Coinabul or other current cash price sales? Smiley
639  Economy / Speculation / BTC buying power of Gold!?!? on: May 23, 2013, 01:22:11 AM
Welcome All to a Viscera Poll

Please read the question carefully before giving your answer. I will include here some explanations to help you understand the question, if you still find something is unclear, please let me know and I will clarify.

This poll is for Bitcoiners who are paying attention to the price of Gold in BTC as opposed to thinking in terms of fiat (read fake) currencies. Anyone who thinks of themselves as being informed on this subject is encouraged to answer in the Poll. You don't need to be an expert, and although I consider myself informed on gold and BTC, I don't know how to judge technical charts or understand the maths.

Therefore I can only go with my Gut instinct at this time and will tell you that my current answer is "Maybe - Buy Gold" This does not mean "buy gold with BTC", it means I think it's important to own Gold (and silver) but I think it's equally important to be a Bitcoiner.

This answer may be edited if you change your mind. Discussion of this poll could lead to some consensus among Bitcoiners on a BTC price for gold or at least a Buy/Sell order for Gold and that would be very exciting.

If you would like to leave a reason for your answer, argue for a particular answer, or discuss related topics such as silver, your replies will be most interesting.

Thanks for reading Smiley

Edit 25th of May,

It's clear at this stage "yes - don't buy gold is way out in front. currently about 40%

Edit 1

First Clarification (Thanks for you replies and PM's)

Will BTC maintains it's current purchasing price of Gold? (not paper gold, gld etc)

eg.

Coinabul as of the 22/5/2013 (5/22/2013 for Americans)
South African Gold Krugerrand - 1 Troy ounce
฿12.2362

If the Price of Gold where to suddenly shoot up to US$4000 per ounce, would the BTC price remain stable? In other words would the price of BTC suddenly rise to reflect the rise in the price of Gold? I you had a lot of BTC and you thought the answer was no, it would make sense to buy Gold now. If the price of Gold was suddenly $4000 per ounce, BTC would have to have a price of US$327 to buy the same one ounce Kruggerand from Coinabul. Keep in mind I think it's a dam good paper price... I'm just not sure if it's a good BTC price, so far BTC is kicking Gold ass, BTC might be $500 in which case you would only need 8 BTC one ounce of gold.

Keep in mind you can change your answer... so far I'm still in the Maybe camp
