621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Fix Released to Exchanges on: May 08, 2014, 03:51:28 PM
I agree with Whatzhub that support from small-time merchants will increase the chance of long term value appreciation. Since there is no actual payment processor for AsiaCoin yet, that is an area that need to be explored. I will look into accepting AsiaCoin for my tiny online store. I have seen online stores that offered a fixed exchange rate which I think may not be a bad idea if we have enough merchants to help justify that exchange rate.

Fixed exchange rate is very nice, but it's very difficult to get merchants to accept it, even LTC/BTC can't get fixed exchange rate at most places (hell, even BTC/USD can't). I think it's important to reach to different stores/payment services to get them to agree to accept Asia Coin when it's relisted for trade (i.e. has a demonstrable exchange rate for high volume trades).

Small online stores are good (online software/gaming/gambling/etc websites can be easily persuaded). We should focus on two things, (1) stores that already accept some sort of altcoins (or at least bitcoin), and (2) stores that provide service within Asia as we can market it better.

In the meantime, there are two places which we should focus heavily on, AltOutlet.com and WoodWallets.io.

We also need to put some bounties (hopefully when the foundation is rich Cheesy) for some services that add value to Asia Coin:

  • Android wallet
  • Paper wallet
  • Some graphics (wallpaper, phone wallpaper, Twitter/Facebook cover photos/Inspirational Asia Coin pictures with people/etc)
  • Small merchant bounties

Any other ideas are welcome, as we're now planning for the future. If you can help, even better! Remember guys, Asia Coin is a community now, it will take all of us to make it a huge success.

By the way, I am slowly sharing the new wallets with even more people at this thread (and a few on Twitter). We are still waiting for major exchanges to upgrade their wallets, after that we will announce the public release!
Its never the coin's ease but its marketing and acceptance, and i think those things u mentioned are great ideas. Nice to see u are not worried much on coding while being more concerned about the marketing. I think get Coindesk articles and lets say getting on television showing Asiacoin in China is a great idea.
I am not worried about the coding mainly because I feel that our current dev team headed by micryon is doing fine. I focus on project management and business strategy in my daily work. Moving forward, adoption and marketing are the key angles that I deem most important. My wife sells fashion tape through a blog. I will see if I can get her to support Asia Coin by accepting a fixed exchange rate for AsiaCoin that is higher than the rates currently being traded. I personally feels that AC should stay above 1k satoshis. That said, the market is pretty much limited to Singapore so far but it is a start, I supposed?

In case people are wondering, this is the current status of exchanges regarding our patch:

C-Cex
(installed our wallets, trades are active, deposits/withdrawals are on hold)

Bter.com
Plath.net
Swaphole

(all installed our wallets, trades/deposits/withdrawals are on hold)

Coin-Swap
Cryptsy
Mintpal
Bittrex
CryptoALTeX
Poloniex

(all reviewing source code, trades/deposits/withdrawals are on hold)

maestro appreciate very much work on project here

there is a small detail do not like : graphic style on landing page http://www.thecoin.asia/

1.dark gloomy colour. this would project gloom and uncertainty

2.hard to understand symbolic ( pianist ? guy seen from behind ? subway ? ) Is such pianist and such subway somewhere in Asia?

not looking much further : on x-labs video http://www.xlabstudio.com/video_asiacoin/asiacoin_video(2).webm
there is a lot of screenshoots which look more attractive than current landing page of http://www.thecoin.asia/

someone might find better yet design for landing page but already x-labs style would be much more attractive

good improvement would be also : more links to specific posts on our btalk ( as brilliant Google Trends chart an so on ) few people would go through 50 subpages
Thanks for the suggestions! The current images are actually placeholders from the original theme that will be replaced once we find something better. I actually like that the gloomy background allows the AsiaCoin logo to contrast against it strongly. Like a rising sun against a sea of gloom and negativity. The new images will feature an Asian theme once we decide on the images to use.

Rather than linking to specific posts, it may be better for us to consolidate useful information into the first page of the thread or into the website as new updates.

Google trend comparison of different coins:

We and BlackCoin are leading the race. It is very important that we get the word out about what we are doing, if you have contacts at weblogs covering cryptocurrency, news agencies, Twitter with a lot of followers, etc. Please, help us get the word out, motivate them to publish articles about us. We need it.

Lol, kudos +1 to you for pulling this out. Yeah, I live in Asia and I know some shops that receives Bitcoin as payment just for the sakes of free marketing/PR.

I can imagine how straightforward it would be to just walk out and talk to them to accept Asiacoin where several thousands of visitors come to our official site everyday with more and more people hearing about this coin in the coming months.

This may not be easy but once you overcome the tipping point... it just snowballs.

Looking good guys, keep sending those ACs back in the wallets. The more in wallets, the less in markets meaning more price. And please try to improve on the english.
But the economy only spins when people are transacting with AC. Bring on the merchants?

Atm 99% BTC is held by 1% of the ppl while 0.5% own 99% of all Blackcoins hence their price. The more held will leave less to be bought increasing price and creating further demand which is what yall want. If 160mill of 170mill was held in wallets, you will see a similar boom as in the case of BC, BTC, Cinni.

Merchants will still work.
It sounds like a flawed concept in my opinion. Bitcoin has its current value because people can purchase things with it. Therefore, it has value in the eyes of users and holders. If everyone is holding AC but no one actually uses it to make purchases, AC will not be able to retain its value in the long run. I would say value creation is the most important task at hand so that AsiaCoin is considered more than just a long digital string. Bitcoin and BlackCoin are valuable to people because merchants accept Bitcoin and BlackCoin as a form of payment. BlackCoin has less value since there are not much merchant support at the moment.

i have 500 000 shares accepted  but no coin in my accunt.

Do you know why ?

Thanks a lot ( sorry iam french )

thanks for your job
The AC payouts will start once trading resumes on the exchanges. The multipool can't function unless trading is enabled.

I'm sure this has been asked a 100 times already, but I have a real job and no way to read 43 pages to find it. How do I recover my 100k coins? They are still in the old wallet that has been running nonstop.
I have a real job as well. I didn't read all 40+ pages in one seating. Help yourself and at least read the first page or visit the website, www.thecoin.asia, for the news and FAQ.

Hi ORiN. Nice of you to jouin the convo. I appreciate you being such an ass, and in fact did read. I think what this coin needs in strength, not asshats. By first page you meant the original thread? or this one? or the faq? or the news? In fact man, I asked for a simple bit of help as I do not have the time to read pages and pages to keep up with one coin I believed in. I do believe in it still but asshats like you run folks off. Maestro summed it up, and told me all I needed to know. Thanks for helping asshat.
Sorry if you think I was being an asshat. when I said the first page or the website, I mean the first page this thread or the website. If you did either, you would have enough information as both had summaries that Maestro did. When did asking someone to to help himself become being an asshat?

hi is anyone here willing to buy my asia coin? at 0.00000950 sat?
i have 110924.86503200 ac i bought it @ 0.00001367
Now it seems to me on what little time I have had to catch up on the coin, that no one should use their wallet in the current state. Correct me if I am wrong, but we all should wait for the 2.0 wallet. Unless ORiN sees different....
Glad to see that you did some catching up on your own. We already have too many doubters who won't believe anything we are trying to communicate to them. The exchanges are testing the new wallet and once they verified that all is good to go, the new wallet will be ready for public release. Slow and steady wins the race. We have been through so much over the past few days and it will be a huge pity to fall at the last hurdle. Backup your wallet.dat and hang in there for the new wallet.

"trust me or don't trust me" is not really working. that's what every scammer tells you here in the announcement board.
Lie #4
A real scammer will hide the code, not publish it. They certainly won't post it for public review prior to its release. Take the original dev for example, since he took down the source code and wiped out his website after things went sour last weekend.

Lie #9999
the original dev published the source code with the modifications to hide the premine. he took it offline much later. very few of the asiacoin investors/victims are able to follow the code. you can hide everything in the open source code. you must be stupid or of dishonest intentions to say otherwise after this is exactly what happened in the asiacoin scam.
Why don't you just go concentrate on the RAPECOIN in your signature? You clearly won't believe anything we are have to offer.

Can some1 go through all the codes, just to be on the safe side... I mean we cannot know if the devs are in fact all the same as the original dev.

How can you be sure that new code inspektor is not friend with old code creator if the coin creator is old dev. It could be even old code creator wifes father cats cousin that inspect that new code. O_o
If that is the case, you are better off investing in stocks. You can never be sure with cryptocurrencies.

If this all works out as planned, will there be rush of new coins "based on AsiaCoin"?
I guess that means the work by the new team is appreciated and thought to hold value? Given the short notice we were given to act, I think we are doing rather well for a ragtag team. Kudos for Maestro1 and micryon for leading the effort!

WARNING: DON'T GET PREYED AT BY ASIACOIN BAGHOLDERS

All this "strong community" is looking forward to is to get its scam coin back on the exchanges and dump the coins before it eventually dies.

They'll tell you anything that helps them to get rid of the asiacoin bag they are holding!

Don't fall for their desperate lies! It's the very same scam coin it was 4 days ago.

Use your brain and invest into something that wasn't a scam from the start.

You can stick to your close minded opinion that a community cannot band together to fix a scammed coin. Yes, the original AC dev scammed all of us but can't we band together to make things right and even better? I am sure there will be panic selling when the new wallet comes. It is almost impossible for us to avoid that. While there are people who are going to dump their AC, there are people who are going to buy.

it's a different story to put the train wreck back on the rails and hope it will last for another mile or two and some tourists will buy a ticket because they haven't heard of the crash and think this is how trains are supposed to look like in this part of the world. your blatant greed is despicable and this whole affair is a disgrace for the altcoin scene.
That's probably where you are different in your opinion. You can only accept that we put a 'train wreck' back on the rails but we actually repaired the 'wreck' into a function state. Perhaps you cannot accept the idea that this train wreck is repaired to a usable state. Sure, I am greedy. After all, I am a 13+k AC whale. =D

Start a revolution. Spread the word. Like our page.

This hasn't successfully been done before and it looks like that is exactly whats happening! AC to the moon! AC REVIVAL!!!

fuck ya. a revolution. lets start with burning down this scamcoin and beheading the leaders. then lets riot throughout the subforum.  Grin

u guys can quit pretending ur building a community. its more like bagholders anonymous - a support group for losers.  Grin
If you take the effort and check the current team against the list, you will probably find out how much the supposed bagholders in the new team have. I got 13+k AC and I am a bagholder? LOL!
637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Asiacoin Poll - Let's see how many Asians trade Asiacoin!!! on: May 07, 2014, 12:01:51 AM
Damn... I am ethically Chinese but I am Singaporean. What do I vote for? Actually, there is basically no ethic Singaporean so that can be taken down as an option. Singaporeans are typically Chinese, Malay or Indian with a small group of Eurasian.

Question for DEVs. Are you still on target to release the patch on 7 May??

Yes I believe so. We've done a lot of the work already, consulted experts and now are in the security testing phase.

Sounds good! Looking forward to a new AC wallet.
639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Hard Fork and Voiding Pre-Mine on: May 06, 2014, 06:01:15 AM
I am with both CryptoSteam and micryon for this proposal. We do need more exact timeframes.

"Time" is a bit relative with cryptos.. it goes by blocks Smiley

So right now it's calculated as 50 days * approx 1440 blocks/day = at block 72000, from the start of the coin.  (so roughly 30 days from now).  Current block is at 26000ish

Anyways patch is right here: https://github.com/micryon/AsiaCoinFix/commit/0e921409e104e95175646e764045fdb526170ba5

Btw holy crap that's a much nicer website guys: http://thecoin.asia/   very '14 web chic style.. Smiley
Thanks for the compliment! Glad that you like what Whatzhub and I put together. Whatzhub did most of the hard work though.

Sounds good with the plan for change of PoS %. I am definitely agreeable. We just need to decide on the actual numbers to go into the code.
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Hard Fork and Voiding Pre-Mine on: May 06, 2014, 05:45:09 AM
Huh.. well it looks like the original dev didn't really think ahead past 10 years... The original code burned Tx Fees AND ends subsidy in 10 years..

So this was destined to need a fork in 10 years, regardless...

Okay so here's my proposal.

It will be 100% for the next month.  After that it will go to 70% for the remainder of the year.  After that it will be 2% ad infinitum (at least the same length as blackcoin/ppcoin)

I second this notion.
I am with both CryptoSteam and micryon for this proposal. We do need more exact timeframes.
