621  Economy / Digital goods / Re: For sale: btcgambling.co.uk and bitinvest.io domains. on: April 24, 2014, 01:01:13 PM
I own both domains, willing to sell them.

Make offers below.

can you tell us when those domains expire? And can you somehow prove that you are owner?

Many members were selling domains that they do not even own Tongue

Are you willing to use an escrow service?

One of the domains expires in 9 months, the other in just under a year (purchased 3 days ago).

I can do other things for proof. But compare the whois for the domains, and the whois for my site (multibet.io) and you will see they are one and the same.

Yes I will use escrow.

624  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: POLL: What to name UK Bitcoin exchange - ReOpened on: April 23, 2014, 11:02:04 PM
Poll reopened at request of business partner

What happened?  He doesn't like mimex?  What would he rather have win: coinserve or bitvega?

Those are good too.

I like Mimex, he doesn't so I agreed to leave the poll open for a few more days to give more people a chance to vote.

My second option would be coinserve, personally. Its a shame btalk doesn't allow polls with 2nd options.

Hello all!

I understand what you are all saying. I know for a fact I am not lying, but I understand if you think I am. I am just looking to watch out for other people, and that is why I posted this. If you do not want to believe, suit yourself.

Personal answer to each of you:

coiner8:

Chose what you want to believe. I know for a fact that I was the only one on that computer, and I did not enter the trade.

I got hit by that before I was able to change it.

Bit_Happy:

Suit yourself!

MrWDunne:

That is not true, but believe what you want.

Rulishix:

I believe this was a server error on there end, but yes, I agree.

Why do you feel that yourself being hacked entitles you to a reimbursement of any sorts?

I don't feel I was hacked. I think this was a server error on there end.

The support gave you session information, including the user agent and the exact data and time that the requests were sent. If this was serverside the requests would not have been sent.

This is insane. Even if you were hacked you shouldn't get any money back. This is ridiculous. This was either you or your friend. My bet is that this was you and you hoped that they would refund you after seeing this on bitcointalk.
629  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinfloor UK on: April 23, 2014, 03:32:04 PM
If you have someone on the inside however... that is a different business.

So which UK bank is your exchange working with, and will your inside person consider assisting other Bitcoin-based businesses?
Not ready to disclose that yet, but it is a major highstreet bank as opposed to one of the smaller private banks.

Possibly, depends very much on the type. From what I heard they will not be taking on any more exchange services however thats not to say no bitcoin businesses.

If you want help you can PM me but I can't guarantee anything.

www.mimex.co.uk it is!
631  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: POLL: What to name UK Bitcoin exchange on: April 22, 2014, 08:19:27 PM
Probably 2/3 hours until the name is decided.

Just a few hours left;)
633  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockexplorer and Blockchain not synced on: April 22, 2014, 02:40:36 PM
Blockchain has been DDoS'd recently. Probably due to the bitcoin.com issues. That is most likely the cause.
634  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: POLL: What to name UK Bitcoin exchange on: April 22, 2014, 02:20:07 PM
We feel good management and not running with funds is more important than the name.

True, but you started this thread specifically to ask what people thought of website names... Don't then criticise them for telling you.

I like mimex, for reasons already stated but with the caveat that "m***x" and "magic" in the acronym reminds me of mtgox, which is an unfavourable association.
The person I quoted was TradeFortress, a notorious scammer. Hence why I didn't react that way to the other person who said the same, I wouldn't speak like that to anyone else.
635  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: POLL: What to name UK Bitcoin exchange on: April 22, 2014, 02:05:23 PM
Mimex. I love the magic internet money phrase.
Me too, it sums up bitcoin very well in a non-technical fashion.
636  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: POLL: What to name UK Bitcoin exchange on: April 22, 2014, 12:20:20 PM

Not just the UK, however we will be playing to the fact that we are a British exchange. The logo for example will reflect this.

cgcex.net and .co.uk have been purchased.

Cool, please use the address in my sig for my fee ... Wink

Re. the branding/targeting I think there is a lot of pent up demand for a UK focused service - the transaction and F/X fees for the current exchanges really eat into funds - however, you probably need to tread a fine line between encouraging UK users and putting off non-UK users.
I think the line is fairly wide considering the only current option is a SEPA transfer which is 3% = £15. So accepting faster payments essentially puts you in the best possible position.

Apologies, perhaps I wasn't clear, I did not mean in terms of what functionality you offer but in how you presented and marketed the exchange.

To take an extreme example, a site that went big on Union Jacks, Churchill and bulldogs would probably not appeal to, for example, continental European users.

I think the focus should be on the relevance of the services/functionality within each jurisdiction.  I suspect one of the biggest challenges for an exchange is volume and to achieve that you need the broadest range of potential users.

But certainly a GBP:crypto exchange supporting faster payments for UK users would be bl**dy brilliant.
The logo will reflect the fact that we are British, but not in such a way that it pushes away anyone else. Its more a joke at our own expense in some ways.

But yes, I somehow feel that faster payments will be a good thing for us.
637  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinfloor UK on: April 22, 2014, 10:32:57 AM
Think i will give this one a miss. Sounds shady at best, an exchange would need to be registered with the FSA.
Its FCA in the UK, but no, they don't.
638  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinfloor UK on: April 22, 2014, 10:31:49 AM
No UK bank wants to deal with Bitcoin.
Many have tried to setup exchanges in the UK and their banks accounts are promptly shut down.

That seems to be the story now. Though some say it is because no one has yet been professional enough about it. I don't know which to believe, myself.

Bitcoin is all about bank-less exchange, it threatens every business model they have, so they are not going to support their own extinction.
Plus some have mobile phone currency payment systems already, I assume Barclays would prefer people use their own Pingit mobile payment system.
Pingit = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFgRm2ijqAM

Its not impossible to get bank accounts. And its not that people are not professional enough, unless you have someone on the inside their compliance teams have been instructed to not touch you with a 12 foot pole. This is not just the case with bitcoin businesses but things like small payday loans companies, remittance services etc.

If you have someone on the inside however... that is a different business.
639  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: POLL: What to name UK Bitcoin exchange on: April 22, 2014, 10:06:44 AM

I think the problem with a lot of those names is they are a bit too "clever" if you see what I mean?

Also I am a Brit but I assume you are not targeting solely the UK market, a non location specific domain would be better, so .com or .net rather than .co.uk

So thinking about what traditional exchanges are called, and assuming that you are aiming for the professional, efficient market place what about something (boring but clear) like "Cryptographic Currency Exchange" or CGCE or CGCEx or similar?
