Have any of you thought about maybe in the future teaming up with one of the mesh networking projects? eg. https://www.reddit.com/r/darknetplan/comments/2wvta0/we_have_teamed_up_to_bring_you_the_first_consumer/Something like this, and kobo would seem to be a good match - mesh networking and wallet as part of one (android) appliance? I appreciate there are more immediate concerns, just wanted to air the idea. Haven't read through the whole thread yet, apologies if it's been mentioned before. Anyway, promising project!

PD. By the way if someone has compromised my wallet and made a transaction using darksend anonymized funds will I be able to see it through blockexplorer?
If you have DS denominated funds they are going to be distributed amongst dozens or hundreds of different addresses. So if you had that 70DRK in your wallet then hit Start Mixing, they aren't going to be in the original address any more. You said that you could see on the blockchain that the funds hadn't moved though...

No sorry, perhaps I havenīt explained it very well
I was installing Drakeīs Darkcoin balance app, adding my MNs and my home wallet and when I have finally added my home wallet my balance was less than expected, exactly 70 DRK less, I have checked blockexplorer to know what can be happened but there is no trace of transactions since 10/02/2015 so I assume my funds are gone.
What I donīt know is how can it be possible? Has been my wallet compromised? I have a very strong passphrase but the reality is the funds are gone atm. When I get home I will check the wallet but in the meantime I have to wait nearly 3 hours and Iīm a bit anxious because I donīt understand what is happening.
Regards.
If the DRK is still shown at the correct address in the block explorer, they are by definition NOT gone. Sounds like this 3rd party app you're using is either broken or you've made some mistake with it.

By the way, I need to upgrade some of my wallets to 61000, is it -upgradewallet, or -walletupgrade?
It's -upgradewallet. CLI options are all under Help > command-line options if you're using the QT client.

Hello, Iīm having problems with my home wallet, seems some funds have dissapeared suddenly, I canīt connect directly to wallet because I am at work and Iīm a bit anxious because it.
The blockexplorer doesnīt reflect any recent transaction but the funds are gone.
Anyone knows what can be happened?
Regards.
Your coins live on the distributed blockchain. Your wallet is just the gateway. If they are on the blockchain they're 'still there.' Maybe your wallet.dat file has become corrupted? Load a backup, or import your privkey(s) into a fresh wallet. You do have backups and hard copies of your privkey(s), right? Or maybe your local copy of the blockchain is borked. Relaunch it with -rescan. If you 'can't connect directly to your wallet' how do you know what it's showing anyway?

Is Etherium going to blow us away by allowing perfect anonymous crypto's to be hosted on their blockchain at the drop of a few lines of code ?
Is DRK going to be consigned to the anals of experimental history by Etherium ?
Could you perhaps elaborate on this one? Since currencies can now be created at the drop of a hat using Etherium's high level language, I'm wondering if it renders much of the "Bitcoin 1.0" developments redundant or not. i.e. brings together the best of both worlds in altcoins and sidechains. For example it's been suggested that an anonymous currency could be simply created in Etherium by the following technique: Full thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/2b7gpd/will_the_underlying_currency_ether_have_anonymity/I'd like to thrash this out before we get drowned in fud over it when Etherium launches in a few weeks / months time. Sure, you can write what you want in a high level language, after you or someone else has written the other fifteen layers of toolchain between that and the metal. Disney will have to release a working Magic Wand before anything actually useful will be running on ethereum.

LMFAO, 40k coins up for grabs at .0001, that's what 2% of the outstanding?
If mr. Spread shows up or someone runs with the project there will be a lot of sorry people. Hey, whatever you need to do to justify holding your bags. You essentially have a ship with no captain. In all likelihood some serious misfortune has befallen the Spread developer and you're here to gloat about it? After shitting on r-ando's charity work today too? You're just a little bundle of joy, aren't you? I didn't shit on rando's charity work, I shitted on his bullshit statistics. Learn to read. 'Shat,' not, 'shitted.' Learn to write.

Is there a mining pool for this coin or going to be mineable ?
No, it's Proof of Stake, not Proof of Work. You earn reward by staking your balance - having your wallet online and serving the network basically.

omg i just lost about 75 drk instantx sucks when sending to shapeshift i feel horrible fml
i sent at the start of the 10 minutes using instantx and then they didnt recieve it and i didnt see it on the block explorer still waiting and now when they recieve them i dont kno what will happen
what do i do now please tell me. did i lose 75 drk? that is alot of money
In theory if an IX fails it should still proceed as a normal tx. If that hasn't happened maybe try restarting your wallet with -zapwallettxes and see if that magically restores them.

I've thought that providing an API to make it dirt simple for 3rd parties to utilise the currency network would be a good idea. Allow Angry Birds / Snapchat / fad-app-de-jour users to tip / spend / buy stuff from within their mobile app without the app developer having to write all their own code for this. This might prove very popular with app devs if they could tune their own cut... They could use a SPR plugin and have it display the currency in sats (and call it AngryBirdPoop of SnapCredit or whatever they want), since nobody wants to tip someone 0.00000001 of anything, it sounds mean. And I've posted previously about using Masternodes as an anonymous content delivery/comms system. Or a distributed VPN.

Heh, amazing what $75 million or whatever it was of VC funding will do to someone. Also, someone please explain to me how a 'side chain' is functionally different from an 'alt coin.' You need an altcoin at the other end to transact between. I suppose you could create Bitcoin 1, Bitcoin 2 and crossover between the two. That way you don't have to work with or create an altcoin My point was that a side chain is basically another coin. That, in this case, will presumeably exist to do some stuff that Bitcoin... can't.

Has no bearing on SPR. The dev is MIA and community members are trying to pick up where he left off, although I have doubts this will end well--tweak some variables here, and there, run it on testnet, push it to main, something breaks, oh-shit-what-do-we-do sort of scenario). With the pool argument gone, SPR is in bad shape, evident by the price action.
I agree. The likelihood of the people that have stepped forward pulling off a workable multi-individuals-but-no-leader team approach to taking SPR forward is minimal. Still, kudos for those people that believe they can do it for stepping forward to have a go. Sissies! You know what would ensure that no pools could exist to short-circuit blockchain security? Shifting to pure Proof of Service with n-of-m Masternodes baking each new block onto the chain. Eco friendly too.

Still thinking this through.
Sure, but thanks for expanding, I get it now. fwiw, I model an altcoin as a population of communicating, limited-functionality equipotent avatars, each controlled by a set of elemental instructions mapped to a UI (GUI/RPC). Your description reminds me that it's not a completely homogeneous population, some may arbitrarily offer additional public-facing functionality (more prosaically, services) in exchange for a small fee paid to the avatar instructor. Examples of this additional functionality currently include coin mixing, confirmation reduction, currency exchange. One obvious next step is to consider how these services might be usefully characterised. The core issues quickly resolve into effecting a strong modular implementation of the service, designing the additional instructions and augmenting the UI for instructing the avatar with a meta-representation of the state/status of the different services that can usefully inform the user's instructions to the avatar. Cheers Graham After nearly a year of neurocorrosion reading bitcointalk, I feel suddenly clean again.

Hey, let our resident talent bring a basic MN implementation to mainnet first before we get all voodoo.
|
|
|
-Go incommunicado for a week while testnet is ridiculously close to going to mainnet... Check-watch SPR price drop to multi-month lows as shaky hands sell... Check-buy 15 BTC-worth of cheap SPR... Check-reemerge, say you've tweaked the Spreadcoin miner so pools can't mine it and say mn's are coming to mainnet........ -watch SPR price rocket to new highs within a matter of days as SPR's dynamic mn system causes crypto-enthusiasts to foam at the mouth in a frenzy of SPR-buying... It's all too obvious now, Mr. Spread. Let's assume for a minute that you are right. What you are describing is very unprofessional and irresponsible behavior. You are saying that Mr. Spread intentionally went missing so his investors would panic, dump their coins at very low prices, so he could buy them knowing that he would soon release a new version and he could profit from this insider information. That is actually criminal and it does not sound like Mr. Spread at all. That's nice. Tell him all that when he reemerges and SPR is rocketing. My thoughts were more of the 'Darkcoin IX has just gone live on mainnnet so we probably wont hear from Mr Spread for a few days as he settles down to analyse the code and see if there's anything he can incorporate and streamline for Spread's implementation.' A week is pushing it though and I think it's more likely he's met with some RL calamity. There's no way he's done a deliberate runner. His code was fantastic, it just worked, exactly as intended, no fuss. Basic MN implementation with IX was probably just one short round of testing away from mainnet. If Mr Spread returns the price will hit 0.001 in very short order, not that I care overmuch, and what SPR I have owes me nothing so I'll hang on to it on the offchance. I think some of the currently-testing design decisions (variable MN collateral pricing) are outright and utterly stupid - would anyone want a limited number of mining slots where only the miners with the most hash qualified to mine and anyone with less was kicked off and denied the chance to participate? - but Spread has great potential.

-snip-
I think I agree. Judging from his writing style - and I am no expert, this is just a guess - I would bet he's Russian.
I was actually thinking Ukraine, but now you mention Russia.... Same language. Mr Spread's writing has all the tells of a native Russian speaker. If he's in Ukraine I can only hope he's OK. And if he isn't we all have yet another reason to hate US foreign policy.
