621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Elysiem as anticipation of poloniex add ... on: February 08, 2017, 07:02:03 PM
Are we discussion this coin? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1777414.0;all You know what is cool about this project? The name.
Because if someone is delusional enough to believe that this coin will be embraced by any government he deserve to be robbed.
Also there are some disturbing news you can find in the ANN thread, just read last page of it.
622  Economy / Speculation / Re: $500,000 per Bitcoin, baby. The math behind it. on: February 08, 2017, 06:39:10 PM
Actually I am glad that someone necroed this thread from the oblivion. I am not entirely sure if math behind the numbers in these calculations is correct
But it is a great reminder for people of what bitcoin could become when people will trust it instead of crying and believe in every FUD they hear.
Another thing is slow progress of adoption, after 2013 there were many predictions (Tim Draper and others) which presented us great future.
I am not saying that this future won't come, but at this point it seems that be further along the way everyone expected it to be - $10.000 in 2018 seems highly unlikely.
623  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017/02/08] Breaking: Bitcoin Exchanges Held to ‘Closed-Door’ Meeting China’s on: February 08, 2017, 06:24:31 PM
It's nothing new as it was announced that inspections/meet ups would continue. That's why I don't understand the over exaggerated dump that happened at the time news articles were hitting the net. It might also have been an attempt to trigger stop loss orders to create a flash dip. If that was the case, then it has not entirely worked out as they planned. At least it gave people a nice discount on their coins if they bought the dip.

It is always the same. Every negative news, even the most minor one will be exaggerated to the point of causing major FUD.
Situation wouldn't be be that strange if we see price collapse to below $800 level as a result.
I heard yesterday that Huobi denied some withdrawals for its users - I wonder if that has something to do with this.
624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Creators voice? on: February 08, 2017, 06:05:18 PM
Just give it a rest guys. Until someone will come out of the shadows with definitive proof that he is indeed Satoshi it would be better to not stir the drama.

So far only Craig Wright said that he is the creator of bitcoin, every other person suspected, denied it, or was misjudged.

I have a feeling that we don't need Satoshi at this point, we have some many self appointed bitcoin experts, they would eat him alive if he showed up now.
625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Do Altcoin Dev's Deserve Money ? on: February 08, 2017, 12:17:16 AM
ICOs are the future. They break down financial barrier of entry. We will see mass rapid innovation because of them!
The problem is: they are not regulated by anything, you can start your own ICO and if you have enough charisma, you can bullshit your way thorough.
It is true that they give chance to project which in other way couldn't exists, but the question is: do we need all these projects?
Some of them are designed to lure people by promising them impossible features or are a straightforward scams - like PRISM.
626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Qtum]UTXO based POS Smart Contract Platform | Crowdsale March 2017 on: February 07, 2017, 11:51:33 PM
I think it's better to cancel this rule: At least one post in this ANN thread every round. Forced post is not a quality post. This topic has filled the same type of message. Better to let them write here only those who are really interested in your project or want to ask something. For example, I have learned everything that I needed and now just waiting for the ico. Already a lot of people interested in you. After the start of the ico in this topic will be a lot of people.

shangerlaa, I will answer very briefly. It seems to me that I can earn on this. Therefore, I will participate in the ico.
Well, I think that one compulsory post in Qtum's ANN thread has two main purposes:

1. It serves as free bump to this thread, making it visible and on top at all times.
2. People who are not that interested in Qtum, may go visit this thread and find something here which will peak their interest.

627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Decentralized Fund on: February 07, 2017, 11:41:57 PM
All these Newbie account popping up and creating one fund or the other looking for people to give them money to invest for them.

I will like you to answer this question

What experience do you have to manage investor's fund
How would you proof you can be trusted since you are a Newbie here
Don't be biased and judge him because of his rank. I've met many bitcointalk newbies who were brilliant and intelligent individuals with great ideas.
Would it be more reassuring that he had a hero account? Definitely not for me. Just read what he is talking about and judge that information by yourself.

The only things that matter:

- What this project is all about, what is the innovation here?
- Do we see competent, experienced people working on it?
- What is the purpose of the fund, what it will bring for us, possible investors?
- Do we have clear and honest relation with the community?
628  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin trap more new user in coming years on: February 07, 2017, 11:28:49 PM
As I had encountered that day by day more people are joining bitcoin inspite of its sky rocketing price and day by day more and more government and other agencies are coming against bitcoin so will bitcoin stay alive and will it be able to invite new user in the network?
You said it as bitcoin was some kind of Ponzi scheme where old users need to invite new blood because network will collapse otherwise.
Bitcoin is not a trap for anyone, it is a choice, if you think it won't be good investing in BTC, then just buy and support it.
People are suddenly waking up when price is over $1000, saying  "but it is too much for me to buy" but it is only a beginning.
With limited number of coins, deflation will hit us, making our coins much more valuable.
629  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Six other times the US has banned immigrants on: February 07, 2017, 11:19:16 PM
I don't want to point fingers at anyone. But for you all who will defeat human rights and freedom of travelling. Go visit these banned Muslim countries first.
If you will feel 100% safe, if you will be embraced by tolerance and understanding of your culture by natives of these countries, then go back to US and throw stones at Trump.
Currently FBI is undergoing an investigation of over 1000 cases of planned terrorists attacks linked to Muslims immigrants. I think this ban is an answer to that problem.
630  Other / Meta / Re: Digital Goods -> Invites & Accounts on: February 07, 2017, 11:04:22 PM
Yes.

Might be a good idea to include product keys there aswell (thinking especially about MSDN keys and stuff).
Definitely a yes. What Lutpin said is a good suggestion too.

It would be nice to have subsections like: Invites & Accounts and Product Keys (for games and other software distributed digitally).
That categorization would take care of roughly 80% content we can find in Digital Goods section today.
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you remember the very first time you sent a Bitcoin transaction? on: February 07, 2017, 10:47:59 PM
I don't remember my first transaction sent. I do remember my first transaction received, however. Someone, I do't know who, sent me small tip of 0.0001.
It was in 2013/14 but certainly not during bitcoin high price period, so BTC back then wasn't that valuable. Still remember fondly this random act of kindness.
People rarely send any tips through Bitcoin network anymore. Fees are killing BTC tipping business.
632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts for Bitcoin in 2017? on: February 07, 2017, 10:43:04 PM
Some of my thought for 2017:

1. For everyone staying that bitcoin can't compete with traditional payment processors - with proper fee there is no delay on payment.
So unless bitcoin will always be mined with speed 10 minutes per block money transfers won't be any faster. Deal with it.

2. Bitcoin was designed to be safe haven and asset/currency, it will free us from next economic crisis.
It has its own micro world, the worse fiat is doing, the better BTC will be. We will see that in the future.

3. Yuan has lost about 14% against dollar in last 4 years. Do you think where Chinese citizens scared by further devaluation will flock? Bitcoin is the cure.
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you support Spoetnik if he had an ICO? on: February 06, 2017, 08:24:16 PM
I've seen far worse and more crazy people behind coin creation business, Spoetnik compared to them seems not that bad.
To be honest, I found his posts mildly amusing sometimes, at least he is dedicated to his cause, which is pointing out BS of altcoin creation scene.
But IIRC, Spoetnik said many times that he hates altcoins so he would never create one.
634  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-02-05] As Bitcoin ETF Nears, Analysts Warn of Trading Frenzy on: February 06, 2017, 07:59:55 PM
It has been known for a long time that SEC final extension period will end in March. Why do we have this news resurfacing just now?
Some news portals needed a cover story? I don't mid, as long as bitcoin's price will go higher as a result.
But at the same time it is highly unlikely that SEC will approve ETF in 2017. I heard some opinions which suggests that SEC finds bitcoin uncertain and problematic asset.
635  Economy / Speculation / Re: Oh god, BTC might rise 25-50% this month! on: February 06, 2017, 07:49:28 PM
$2000 within a month.......

I'll have me some of that.
Don't get your hopes high just yet. It is more likely that SEC won't approve the Winklevoss ETF in 2017.
They don't need to give us a serious reason, they could just say it is risky business and markets is not ready for it.
IMO probability that will see positive SEC's reaction this time is less than 30%
636  Economy / Exchanges / Re: From Neteller/skrill to BTC on: February 06, 2017, 07:37:36 PM
have you tried CoinCorner? They recently added support for Skrill/Neteller. It is a mobile bitcoin wallet with the ability to buy and sell bitcoins.
You can also send and receive Bitcoins like with every standard bitcoin wallet. I haven't tested it yet so I can't tell you more that you can read on their website.
But it seems that this service has good opinion and is trusted: https://www.coincorner.com
637  Economy / Speculation / Re: Oh god, BTC might rise 25-50% this month! on: February 06, 2017, 07:07:14 PM
I've been waiting for Winlevoss' ETF for years. I hope this project won't be delayed anymore, it has been put on hold too many times already.
This is the biggest news in bitcoin history since MtGox collapse, potential effect on price after ETF approval will be huge.
I expect that price might soar to $2000 with ease, and then when people realize that bitcoin is used by regulated financial institution, even higher.

638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If today was your last day, would you gamble everything? on: February 06, 2017, 06:58:00 PM
Definitely not. I gamble for my personal benefit and gain. When I would know that my life will end today,
I would rather gave all my money and valuable possession to others, my family and friends.
Gambling it away despite the fact that I won't be able to use money anymore seem totally stupid.
I am not that delusional nor addicted to waste my last day on gambling session.
639  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Goldentea.com | Scam or legit cause cannot understand on: February 06, 2017, 06:46:55 PM
In Goldentea case we can withdraw without deposits, but up to 1 RUB daily I think (something low like that). To be able to withdraw higher amounts it's necessary to deposit money or make a referral deposit money. That is why there are lots of people trying to lure others to these sites, so they don't need to waste their money while others do it. And this site already reseted the progress of all users (scammed), but came back days after saying it was a hacker attack... Everyone started from zero again.
Good to know that something like this happened. As usual if you wan't to use this service as money making tool then better look elsewhere.
I wouldn't trust site which was either hacked and failed to keep important user's data intact or blamed their possible scamming on hackers.
640  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin value is returned to 1000$ again on: February 05, 2017, 12:03:16 PM
I think that PBOC intervention which destroyed margin trading in China created more stable market. Maybe $1000 is our new floor and become solid resistance level?
Serious bullish trend formed, with this kind of support $1000 is not the end of the road, we may see $1100 soon.
