626  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin debit card on: May 23, 2016, 04:34:06 PM
Going over this thread I have not seen one person complain about not being able to load your card with your own bitcoins, so yes it's new and it is happening all of a sudden because you guys are having issues, when you didn't have any issues everything ran without any problems

there is a hundred pages. It's not new, but improved a lot recently, hence, no complaints in the last days and weeks.

GBP and EUR are back up and running, hope to resolve the issue with USD today, too..

I loaded my card yesterday and it is still pending. And it's an eur card, not usd/gbp. I wrote to your support but got no answer. Please resolve this. my email: benjawest@mail.com.

have raised it with support team, you should get a reply shortly

if you read a bit more carefully (only a few posts above) rather than fire ungrounded accusations, the issue with card loads is caused by delay with account settlements from the bank's side. It's the 1st day after weekend and we expect the card load to be back to normal later today.

Why is there bank problems happening all of a sudden? a sign of bigger issues to come?

they are not happening all of a sudden; it used to be a more frequent issue in the past and has been actually improving lately due to lots of work we do in that area.
Cannot publicly strip the whole business model to the bone here, definitely not until you have signed an NDA and have a good reason to ask for such deep confidential detail - you couldn't ask that from ANY company.
Just please, don't make assumptions and don't cause and spread ungrounded rumours for no good real reason. Conspiracy theories are a feature of underdeveloped societies, not tech-savvy forums like this one.

Why are you guys not letting users load there cards? you guys are slowly scamming and people aren't stupid around here

3-day hold is not really an issue, just an overinflated reaction from a few members, it only applies to the BTC bought via our platform.

Issue with card loads is an intermittent one, caused by the bank delaying account settlements

You are full of shit, I am trying to also load my card and I can't
So when can we load our cards again?

what exactly do expect in reply to the 2nd sentence after sending the first one?
631  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin debit card on: May 23, 2016, 12:21:28 PM
I can't load my card. Is E-coin experiencing some difficulties?

there is a temporary issue with loading USD and GBP cards at the moment. Both expected to be back to normal tomorrow

So many problems, first 3 day hold on bitcoins bought now issues with loading cards, what is next?

1. Hello E-coin staff, can you tell me when it would be possible to remove the 3 business days hold of the bitcoins once I purchase them from your system?

2. Also, can the card load time be lowered from 4 days (that's how much it took me and other I read of here) to like 2 days or less?

1. We are working on possible alternative solutions, yet, for the time being cannot say exactly when this will change.

2. Not quite sure what you mean. Was your card not loaded instantly? If not, then there is an issue - please, PM your e-mail address so that we have support check your case

I was referring to loading the Virtual Card via PayPal. It took 4 days until the money was deposited in it. Can this timeframe be lowered to 1 or 2 days?

our cards can be loaded via PayPal, but as you know, it is not done via our service, you do that directly via PayPal. As far as we know, it can take up to 5 working days, and the question about the timeframe should be directed to PayPal themselves - we don't have any control over such transactions.

Loading the card with BTC on our platform is instant.

How long is the shipment for Plastic Card standard delivery takes to Indonesia?

it depends on where in Indonesia you are located - for instance, Jakarta would certainly be quicker than a small town on a more remote island.
Cards are shipped via Royal Mail, but after a certain point, it mostly depends on local post, so hard to tell. As officially stated by the issuing bank, it's 2 to 8 weeks, from experience, Indonesia takes 3 to 5 weeks in most cases.

Please, keep in mind that with standard delivery there is no tracking possibility, so, it is not possible to see where the shipment is and find it in case it is delayed or lost. If you don't have real confidence in the local postal service, it may be worth going for expedited delivery, which goes via DHL and comes with tracking number and delivery guarantee

I'm in the city near to Jakarta, 3 to 5 weeks seems acceptable. If I want to track my card, can I change it now for the expedit delivery? Or I can only do that for another card order?

if you have already placed the order and received confirmation from us, it is no longer possible to change the delivery method, since the card has most probably already been shipped.
Give it some time, hopefully it should reach you soon

Put some warning temporary on your website. You can remove it anytime later if you change the term. Why is it so difficult? Unless there's a really shady things are going on. I wouldn't have complained if you had put some warning on your website.

gosha@e-coin, uniquark has a valid point on that. This is where most of the noise seems to stem from. And please dont tell me again about the blog and emails. I have created a new account these days and i havent see anything. I speedy browsed the blog and didnt find anything yet. I guess there must be something there but it seems like we cant see it in the official page for a reason.

agree with you, and point taken, but that is THE only more or less valid point he has got.
The rest is numerous ungrounded accusations in the public forum (not to mention offensive PMs) causing massive commotion - all that without actually losing or even any hint or probability of losing any money with E-Coin (clearly misusing the term "scam"), refusing to discuss the actual problem or share his registered e-mail for us to investigate it. All those "customer concerns" without even being a customer at the time of most of the posts - one particular individual probably trying to make a name for himself by wasting other people's time and deliberately doing damage to E-Coin/Wirex for no good reason.

There is a FAQ section in the blog: https://blog.wirexapp.com/faq-3-day-bitcoins/

Why not provide users with some eta for when things are fixed?
Right now it's just talking on the forum while these problems are here for weeks... Start with transparency first before those thousands of customers will be decimated...

things related to buy bitcoin function (this notorious 3-day hold for transfer is related to it) is not such an easy fix to be able to advertise a clear eta for.

No other service offers buying bitcoin with bank cards for a reason. We were arguably the first company to resolve most issues around it and offer such service, yet, it comes with some limitations.
Really can't see why this is creating so much noise and tension - a brand new and until now unheard of service is evolving and improving. Maybe too much is being offered and by default taken for granted...

#1 – E-Coin / Wirex  https://www.e-coin.io/  https://wirexapp.com/
This is a 2-way bitcoin card (just annouced and tested), which means you can keep both bitcoins and fiat (USD, EUR, GBP) in your account, and switch between them as you wish. Plastic card for $ 17 and Virtual for $3. Has both Visa and MasterCard.
They offer unnamed cards, and no documents are required if you load it up to $2500.  Verified users have no load limits. Both verified and unverified have no daily spend limits, regarding to number of purchases and their values.
Has below average fees, although not always the lowest. 1% when converting BTC to fiat, $2,50 when using the ATM.  They ship to 130+ countries, the highest number announced so far. No annuity.
They’re the only service with 24/7 support, and they’re very fast. It really counts when you are abroad and need help with some issue (see below my experience with Xapo).
The Wirex app is a big plus. I was a beta tester and it is pretty slick. Works like a charm for being in beta.
Wirex looks great but not sure about the 1% on BTC->fiat. I have just tried that and the rate was $430/BTC compared to $442 on Bitstamp which is 2.8% fee hidden in the exchange rate.

Wirex/E-Coin rate cannot be the same as Bitstamp by default - it is a different service, with different costs and business model. A pure exchange (like Bitstamp or others) works on huge volumes and gives you a certain functionality. Wirex/E-Coin offers instant load to your card with no lengthy registration process, no dealings with bank transfers etc. It's a bit like Costco vs your local grocery store, can't really compare the two purely on cost, it wouldn't be adequate.

That said, you get exactly the amount you see on your screen before confirming the transaction on your card, so, there is nothing hidden there - what you see is what you get.
637  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 2016 Bitcoin Debit Card Reviews on: May 22, 2016, 08:07:13 PM

E-Coin/Wirex did come out of nothing. In just 3/4 months and 1 signature campaign they got a lot of clients. I don't think they expected it nor could handle it which means they overused their own limits and now the customers are bleeding too....

E-Coin started shipping cards in beta in January 2015 and full speed in March-April 2015.

Indeed, in the last several months there has been a considerable growth of customer base, number of cards and transactions, hence, yes, we are working through some growth issues. Yet, trying to minimize the impact on customers and will keep working hard to improve further
638  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Be careful! E-Coin may be turning to a scam on: May 22, 2016, 08:02:22 PM
Is this confirmed? I've been using my debit card from e-coin for a while now, about 3-4 months I suppose, and there seems to be not much of a problem.

I use the card behind Paypal, and of course, I only load it when I need to pay for something.

if you look at all the hype and noise a bit more carefully, can see that it was all created by one member here, who has not lost any money, just overreacted to a couple of issues which had been 100% resolved.

So, when making any conclusions and decisions, please, base those on facts and your own experience, rather than such hype and noise.

If you have any issues or problems with the service, please, PM and we will make sure to have support address them (if any)
639  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin debit card on: May 22, 2016, 07:57:38 PM
I have stopped using e-coin, they seem to be operating pretty shady now

Really a lot complains on this service. I was thinking of getting a plastic card but now, after reading all this, I think I ll pass, for now.

You seem to be a serious and reputable member.

The decision is certainly yours, but we would urge you to concentrate on the facts and numbers and give it a try to see for yourself, rather than pay much attention to some of the random "noise" posted here.

We are not denying the fact of some growth issues recently - are fully aware of the problems and are working on them, it just takes time. However, all the accusations of "scam" and other strong statements posted by some have no real grounds whatsoever - no one has actually really lost any money, any issues are addressed and resolved (we are working on bringing the reaction time back to the standard), and the service works well for thousands of people 98 times out of 100.
