Yifu did this before with batch 3. One group buy organizer had ordered 50 Avalons, but then when they were delayed and the refund option was offered, he asked for the refund. He got no response, inquired repeatedly and then weeks later all 50 units shipped. When they arrived he just had to make the best of it. This feels like what is happening to us -- Yifu processed some refunds for chips, but when they received more chips they just said, "Eh, ship them and let the customers deal with it."

That's what I'm thinking -- just removing the case seems like a big improvement!

Which is more irresponsible: breaking open your Jalapeno and (probably?) messing up the warranty, or letting it run hot as hell, the way it was born?
I have a handful of upgraded Jalapenos running ~7GH/s. I cracked one open because the heatsink had come loose during shipping (I guess) and the fan was hitting it, and I never reattached the side panels after I (mostly) fixed it. The A/C blows on it and all the metal, including the heatsink, is pleasingly cool to the touch. But I probably effed up the warranty, right?
I have 4 other Jalapenos, also enjoying the fresh breeze of the A/C, but they've never been opened. They look stylish enough, but they get so darn warm. Almost hot to the touch, right in front of the A/C. And now that I've seen the insides, how the heck does the cooling make any sense at all? An intake vent low on one side, an exhaust vent high on the opposite side, but in between is just a fan blowing... down on the heatsink? Even though the exhaust is above it, and the intake is below the fan? With a metal plate directly above the fan's intake? I just can't make sense of it.
Don't I have a responsibility, in the name of helping stuff work, to free these little monkeys from their crazy, stifling cages? Can anyone explain to me how they're cooling/ventilation is supposed to work?

Indeed, the seed restoration worked in the latest version ( 1.8 ) but of course I've lost all the customizations/notes of the original wallet We probably need to make more regression tests between versions so upgrades don't break existing client data. Thanks for the help. I recommend you to backup your electrum.dat file before updating if you have set important labels and have imported keys. You can also use the plugin to keep your labels in the cloud, so you'll never lose it. Which plugin is this? I've just gone through this same problem: after months of use, Electrum stops opening, but it can be recreated from the seed if I move the electrum.dat file; so the problem seems to be related to the electrum.dat file. But upon recreation, I've lost all my notes, which is really a bummer since that certainly helped me keep track of what was what. a) Is there a way to get these notes back? and b) for next time, what is this manner of backing up the notes which you refer to?

Arklan, I have really appreciated everything you've done. I'm a fan. But FedEx ground is a trap... USPS priority mail got me my erupters in 2 days last time, but FedEx still has my shipment in Texas after... I dunno, 3-5 days? And I definitely do not live in Texas. I'm just pointing this out for future reference. I'm glad other folks have been getting theirs!
...ugh. i may have given you the wrong tracking info or... well, i'll investigate.check your PM. should be delivered tomorrow. You're right! Tracking info updated while I was posting my last message! I really didn't mean to complain, it was just an observation. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

I have a 3-module batch 2 Avalon, and I have just acquired a batch 3 module to add to it. I've connected it and, after changing the miner count to 32, it seems to be running fine. I have not yet started overclocking it. Questions: 1) Has anyone else added a batch 3 module to a batch 2 machine? If so, have you encountered any issues? 2) Should I change any settings other than the miner count in order to best recognize / utilize the new 4th module? 3) Will the stock batch 2 750W power supply be enough to overclock all 4 modules? 4) The screw holes don't match up and the IDE cord I had wasn't long enough, so right now I have it running outside the case. Does this matter? If I do get it jammed in the case, it looks like it will be closer to the adjacent module than the other modules are to each other; is this worth worrying about, heat-wise? I have an air conditioner blowing right on the Avalon. Thanks in advance for any advice / ideas!
