621  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Used laptop, wallet synced almost immediately? on: June 20, 2013, 08:58:26 PM
I bought a used Asus on Amazon.com.  I reformatted the hard drive.  I then installed the Bitcoin QT wallet.  It synced with the network almost immediately.   What does this mean?  Thanks?

How fast? When I downloaded the entire block chain it was 8GB. If you were on a 100Mbit connection that would still take about 8 minutes.
Fresh install of Windows 7, then Bitcoin-Qt  It did take minutes to sync.  My other computers took a couple days.  I acquired Bitcoin-Qt from bitcoin.com.  But I guess my question is this.  If the original owner of the laptop had Bitcoin-Qt on it, then wiped the hard drive, would Bitcoin-Qt somehow still know this computer when it's reinstalled?  Probably a dumb question, which is why I'm asking it in the noob section.

623  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Block Erupter USB owners won't make ROI??? on: June 20, 2013, 03:48:17 PM
Mine PPC with them.  Yeah, it could take 3 years for ROI if BTC stays ~100.  When blocks go to 12.5, BTC could and should spike, and we'll get our ROI by then I'm sure. ihmo.

Anyone look at the gold/silver price today?   Thank you Ben Bernanke.

I'm using noob-friendly Bitminter on a Mac -- one USB as an experiment -- and getting 0.0087 BTC / 24h.

Thats about dead on.  Will take years for ROI. But oh well.

We will have a large Technical announcement coming next week. Where we will give even more accurate Power figures and GH/s.

It will be a significant announcement which I hope will make all of our customers happy. and no before you ask I wont reveal any details before that newsletter goes out Smiley

again please don't buy a 1200W power supply you simply will not need one that powerful or expensive.

Sam
Thanks bro, didn't see that thread.  Tried to search.  And yes, I'm optimistic.  I'm going to win the knc lottery, don't you know?
627  Bitcoin / Hardware / Kncminer power supplies on: June 20, 2013, 03:17:30 AM
I read on their website that the Saturn and Jupiter units require an external power supply.  Does anyone know of a specific product that will do the job?  Please post links.  Also, are there any other accessories we may need?  Thanks!

634  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Best BTC Pool for ASIC USB STICK MINING ? on: June 18, 2013, 01:57:08 PM
I'm using btcmp, I get about 0.011 BTC per usb per 24 hours.  I tried deepbit and got about 0.004 per usb, ugh!  Only tried that for one day.  Of course deepbit is a smaller pool...I think.  Btcmp updates your balance very often and you can take a payment twice a day.

So I had the same question.  What pool are people using, and how many BTC are you getting per 24 hrs per USB?
635  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3700 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: June 18, 2013, 07:16:48 AM
It looks like Deepbit has been changing difficulties between the last difficulty and the current one.
I ran a little 24 hr test.  With 6 Block Erupters, I got 0.065 BTC with btcmp.  With deepbit, I got 0.025.
636  Economy / Economics / Re: Peter Schiff on Bitcoin on: June 17, 2013, 10:40:15 PM
Gold dropped in '08 because the dollar didn't drop. People still had faith in the dollar.   But that sentiment is slowly changing.  I notice customers at work, through conversation, we look for the rare silver dimes/quarters.  Then again this libro girl I'm kinda dating has no clue.  She gets mad when I try to explain it all to her.

Anyway I live how we're all preaching to the choir here.
637  Economy / Economics / Re: Peter Schiff on Bitcoin on: June 17, 2013, 12:25:00 PM
I have to agree with Xavier here on this.  Gold is not an investment.  It's a hedge against inflation.  And so is bitcoin imho.  Gold is a store of wealth.  When the tempest comes to pass, everybody and their mother is going to try to buy gold at the same time.  And its going to Skyrocket.  Similar to Bitcoin and Cyprus.  Only the real fat lady has yet to sing her song.

Or you can get left behind while we make history.
639  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3700 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: June 16, 2013, 02:06:41 PM
I've been mining with 2Gh/s for 9 hours and my BTC balance has not changed.  Can someone please enlighten me?

A block hasn't been found in the last 9 hours by Deepbit? Maybe?
so based upon that, is it a good assumption that deepbit is dead?

Why would that be a good assumption?

There are several medium sized pools that go over 9 or even 24 hours between rounds at this difficulty.  If you don't like that then you can switch to Deepbits PPS which has a 10% fee but you won't have to wait till a block gets solved to get your revenue.
I switched to another pool when I posted that.  This am, I found an extra 0.01 BTC in my deepbit profile.  Do you think deepbit has the lowest fees?  I'm using btcmp right now.  The rewards pop up instantly so I guess it's more gratifying.  What do you think?  I've tried to look at the pool comparison wiki, but I get confused.  Thanks!
