6201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v14.7 (Windows/Linux) on: August 12, 2019, 08:50:24 AM
The problem is amd driver, you can mine a 30mhs in linux with claymore 14.7 and hive os
give us  a screenshot for r9 390 in ETC/ETH with 30M/h

He is actually correct, and I didn't know it either but apparently with the R9 290/390 you can mine at 30MH/s again if you do it with certain drivers, OS, and mining software.

I had a similiar issue where I used to mine 30MH/s with my R9 290 since 2016 and in 2018 it started to slow down to like 20MH/s before I shut it off. I assumed it was some DAG thrashing bug and just unplugged it.

However there is another thread going on in this category of mining where people were able to mine with their Hawaii GPUs again at 30MHs. However you can't do it on Windows. So search the forums if you need instructions on how to do it.

But keep in mind the GPU will use at least 200 Watts of power.
6202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Noob here, Need information for CPU mining on: August 12, 2019, 08:46:41 AM
I'm totally a newbie in mining. Only have read some articles regarding mining.
I'm interested in CPU mining since it's easy as far as I know. However I have zero knowledge on it.

What equipments do I need in CPU mining?
How can I start CPU mining?

CPU mining is the easiest because everybody has a CPU but its also the least profitable way to mine. You won't make any profit what so ever from it.

If you got a desktop, chances are you got a free x16 slot, so go on eBay or Craislist and buy a cheap 2nd hand RX 470 4GB GPU for like $75 and plug it in.

Then go and download CLaymore ETH miner and start mining. You will make like $0.25 per day based on 10 cent power costs. See how you like it.

If you get hooked then you can buy more GPUs, Power supplies, motherboards and have your house filled with them.
6203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Dominance nearing 70% - When The Trend Reverses, Which ALTS To Pick? on: August 11, 2019, 05:13:38 AM
Go to a website like:

https://athcoinindex.com/

Click to list by percentage going from the highest loss to the lowest and pick some which are at 90%+ losses.

Sure some coins might end up going to 0, but if you pick 1 or 2 which eventually become good runners then its a pretty good investment. NANO, QTUM, LSK are some to name a few.

Just buy in very small quantites and don't get greedy.

6204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: most likely why tether is a problem (you shouldnt have to "keep the market cap") on: August 11, 2019, 05:05:50 AM
the biggest problem with tether in my opinion is that people don't actually buy it with fiat (USD). instead what they do is that they either use bitcoin to buy it and then use that to trade altcoins. or they use bitcoin to buy altcoins and as they trade altcoins that market tanks (like the entire 2018) then end up being forced to convert their coins to tether.

this also explains why they kept printing more tether during 2018. and also why it is very bad for altcoin market. the day when tether finally is shut down by  the governments the altcoin market will be devastated.

First of all people buy Tether with USD fiat. The way it works is someone wires money to Bitfinex, and they want to buy alts not on the exchange. They convert the USD to USDT and then they can withdraw those tethers into another exchange like Binanace. When this happens the market cap of tether increases.

And in 2018 during the middle of the year or so the tether market cap actually started to fall. It rose during the first half of the year but by Oct it ended up actually going down because people cashed their Tether's back to Fiat.
6205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if you received Bitcoin from this wallet on: August 11, 2019, 05:00:06 AM
Most hacked coins usually are never moved. Last I checked the ETH DAO hack address he managed to send a small amount to Shapeshift before they started to blacklist his deposits and its been sitting there since 2016 pretty much.

Same with the other hacks. They tried to move small amounts and got nowhere pretty much. As soon as the coins are moved, people get alerted and alarms start to go off.

Like a few months back, some coin or exchange got hacked, people kept monitoring it and it got transfered to Binanace and people alerted the CEO and it got halted there.
6206  Economy / Economics / Re: Worrying Stock Market Drop and Fiat Devaluation on: August 11, 2019, 04:52:25 AM
This has been discussed many times and since BTC was never active thru a global recession (it was actually created as a result of a recession) its hard to tell what will happen.

Yes you are correct that many will be buying Gold and they might also buy Bitcoin to hedge their money but keep in mind that generally in a recession people are risk-off. What risk-off means is that they buy stocks, indicies, which are a safe haven but produce low % rate of returns. So people might buy metals such as Gold and they might buy blue chip stocks instead of penny stocks. Bitcoin is considered a risk-on investment due to its volatility and might turn off most investors.

Especially since it took around a year for it to peak $20K and go down all the way to $3K. Many rather hold stocks thru a recession in that case.
6207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH network hashrate going to the moon!!!! on: August 11, 2019, 04:45:40 AM
I think being 2weeks since July 24th we can conclude that the spike was not random network variance. The 10% spike was most likely new ASICs going online. The 10% gradual increase in the past 10 days was perhaps other algo users switching to ETH as their algos fell to ASIC (which is ironic since ETH is no longer a GPU haven).

Anybody mining ETH right now on GPU either has dirt cheap power or is mining Hopium because the cards like the 1070 and the 1080 are depreciating faster than the value of the ETH they can mine. Even Ryzen 2 CPUs are tanking in price with Ryzen 3 CPUs spanking everything.

Looking at https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate

It doesn't seem like a huge spike. You might be right that its some new ASICs however there is also the possibility that the people who bought GPUs in 2017/2018 are powering their rigs back up again since Bitcoin and Cryptos seems mainstream again.

If those people sold GPUs back in 2018 then most likely there are other people who started to mine right now because they are expecting ETH to go to $1400 again. Many people think this because it looks like BTC might go back to the $20K ATH and they feel that ETH will be no different.
6208  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 66.5%, alts lagging behind on: August 10, 2019, 05:58:25 AM
History is being made. The Bitcoin dominance has crossed the two-third level and now it is being measured at 67.8%. All the altcoins are at record lows, with Ethereum trading at BTC0.0197 and Litecoin trading at BTC0.00837. XRP is down to 2,755 Satoshis. I won't be too surprised if the Bitcoin dominance climbs to 75% or even 80% by the end of this year.

In just four days since I made this post, the Bitcoin dominance increased by another 1.7%, to end up at 69.5%. The altcoins are not just losing their value against Bitcoin. They are losing value against the US Dollar as well. In just one and half months, the price of Ethereum has fallen from $325 per coin to just $210 per coin. During the same period, Litecoin went from $140 to $85 per coin.

It's party time for the Bitcoin holders!!!

My question is how the fuck can an ethereum gas token be worth over $200? Like, who the fuck is buying at that price when it's only use case (scam icos) are no longer a use case?

Its the second largest market cap coin and its actually a great coin however it has issues like most coins. I think the reason why the price is struggling to rally is due to ICOs dumping their coins (if they still have them) and its miners who are dumping their coins to pay for their overpriced 1080TI rigs that they bought in 2018.

One issue with ETH at the moment is due to the devs and they always delay and postpone they work. They have been promising POS since 2016 and still haven't delivered. Same with that ProgPOW switch which they meantioned a few months back, they still haven't provided an update whether they will go live with it or not.

Its problems like this why the price is struggling and the ratio keeps dropping lower and lower and at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if we hit 0.01 ETHBTC within the next few months.
6209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Dominance on CoinMarketCap on: August 10, 2019, 05:53:40 AM
I think the reason why the dominance is increasing so fast is due to over-leveraged people who kept buying and buying alts back in May-June because they were expecting an alt reason rally which hasn't happened yet.

People think that 2019 will be a repeat of 2017 but they need to realise that it doesn't work that way. I think the coins like XRP, LTC, ETH suffer the most due to the high margin available to trade those alts against the BTC ratio. And if you look at a weekly chart, it just keeps going lower and lower and lower and people keep trying to catch a falling knife and end up getting liquidated. Hence the sell-offs keep contuning.

I think the strong alts will bounce back eventually however its hard to tell when that will happen. So right now its best to just buy the alts without leverage and see how it plays out.
6210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH network hashrate going to the moon!!!! on: August 10, 2019, 05:45:42 AM
What happened to progpow?  Not sure why anyone would build / buy and ASIC with the threat of progpow. Or maybe progpow is like pos, never going to happen.

From what I last heard it was delayed. Basically they needed to do some audit to find out if its worth switching to ProgPOW and then they delayed it. Then they needed to get funding for the audit which last I heard they received and haven't heard anything since March-April 2019 really.

I remember that from some dev conference meeting they said that they would most likely switch to the ProgPOW barring any issues and that was pretty much it.

I've been following ETH since 2016 and one thing that is certain is that they always miss deadlines and always postpone everything. So who knows when ProgPOW will actually go live.
6211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New to mining help please on: August 10, 2019, 05:40:54 AM
I think you should get some cheap RX 470 4GB (RX 570 4GB) Gpus from Craiglists/eBay second hand and see if mining is for you. You can get the 1660 Ti but keep in mind that you need to most likely buy that GPU new and its pricey. You can get a cheap RX 470 for like $75 used.

You make like 0.25 per day per GPU based on your power costs. They aren't much because mining right now is not as profitable as it was during 2017 FOMO days. There is just too many miners out there and too much competition. Its generally this way in business.

So get a few of these GPUs and run the rig for a month or so and see if mining is for you. If it is then maybe get the 1660 Ti's and build more rigs.
6212  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🛑 Looking urgently for an operator of our unique dice house game 🛑 on: August 08, 2019, 06:23:04 AM
It would help if you posted more info about your 3rd game which is the provably fair dice game. Like you said before, "another dice game?" There needs to be some unique aspect to this game because many people rather play dice on an old and trusted website rather than a new and up and coming one.

If you posted a demo or some type of images at least so we can see what you are referring to then you might get interest that way. I am assuming you are only paying %'s after the person generates a few referrals and in this case its important for that individual to see if your idea can be sold or not.

Because if its a regular dice game which has a low chance of getting new users then most people won't waste their time promoting it since it won't be worth the effect.

I am not applying for this but I am just posting some ideas because this was posted a few days back with little interest.
6213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: r9 280x eth mining on: August 08, 2019, 05:57:15 AM
Guys anyone knows how to set the DPM on HiveOS for r9 290/390 GPUs? I have overclocked the cards from bios but the OS doesn't pick the highest GPU frequency. I tried with the wolfamdctrl command but it says: Specified core state does not exist. Is it ok to modify again the bios with the same frequency on all states and the same voltage to bypass the bug from the HiveOS? or the card will get damaged?

If the Hawaii is similiar to the Tahiti's then the reason why you aren't getting the highest GPU frequency is because the DPM states need to go from the lowest to highest in frequency. They need to be in order like 300Mhz,500Mhz,800Mhz, 947Mhz, 1000Mhz, 1050Mhz, etc. You can't do something like 300Mhz, 500Mhz, 800Mhz, 1000Mhz, 1050Mhz, 947Mhz, because you will run into issues that way.

What software are you using to modify your BIOS?

I remember with the Hawaii GPUs, I didn't have issues with the clockrates but I had issues with the fan speeds. I could never get them to automatically set but had to manually set the fan speeds because modifying the bios didn't do anything.
6214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Post your mining stats here - GPU/CPU/PSU + Hashrate + Miner + Power Consumption on: August 08, 2019, 05:52:11 AM
Thank you @adaseb @kvorum

I will try with the desktop.
if I buy a desktop will it come with the graphics card? or I need to purchase separately for it?
Can you please tell me about the best configuration for desktop, storage, n memory, importantly the processer?

Most desktops these days don't come with an external GPU because many motherboards and/or CPUs have a built-in onboard GPU. The GPU is usually what you need to purchase unless you are buying some gaming desktop.

The storage and processor is not really important if you are GPU mining. For RAM usually 4GB should be enough.

My advice is buy the cheapest motherboard+cpu combo you can find and buy an old RX 470 4GB GPU and start with that and see how it goes. You can buy Nvidia but they usually hold a premium in price due to demand from gamers.
6215  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: August 08, 2019, 05:48:07 AM
hi. I previously had an account with fortune-jack (2+ years ago) now I wished to login and it said account inactive contact support. I asked to support and it said that my old account can't be revoked so I should create a new one. I asked that would it be considered as multi-accounting? to which the support said that since the account was already dormant and I am creating a new account after my old account was inactive.. it wouldn't be considered as multi-accounting. just writing here for confirmation. please confirm.

Many bitcoin casinos and exchanges do this these days. This is generally usually done with an old inactive account and especially if the account doesn't have a balance on it.

They started doing this because there was many people who got their username's, passwords's, emails, etc leaked from some hacked website like Bitmain a few years back and people re-use the same username/email and password so alot of hackers try and access people's accounts, so to prevent any issues many sites might make an account inactive if there is no activity after a certain time and if there is no balance on it.

Since you asked support and they told you to create a new account then you won't have an issue. I was in a similar situation as yourself and had to make a new account because I lost my 2FA and support looked into it, the account had no balance and told me to just create a new account.
6216  Economy / Gambling / Re: Warnings! A new wave of attacks on renowned casinos. on: August 08, 2019, 05:42:07 AM
I looked into the Primedice.net domain whois and that domain was registered shortly after Primedice.com was registered (about 6 years ago).

Without paying a premium to look-up the whois info, its hard to tell if its the original owner. But I am assuming somebody back in 2013 was simply registering a bunch of domain names just in case a casino site became popular and eventually decided to do some phishing attacks on it.

So I am guessing that more and more of these domain will eventually become available for sale and I don't think Primedice.net is the only one out there.
6217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Binance KYC been hacked? on: August 07, 2019, 11:40:06 PM
I've never actually used Binance before but I always assumed they were one of the only non-KYC exchanges out there. Why do they have over 10,000 KYC documents then?

I assumed the exchange was mostly crypto deposit/withdraw only. Looking at the pairs, they only got crypto fiat counterparts like Tether, PAX, USDC, etc.

So who exactly gets KYC'd on Binanance? Is it only people from the USA? Or are people just randomly being KYC'd due to fishy deposits and mixers?
6218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Post your mining stats here - GPU/CPU/PSU + Hashrate + Miner + Power Consumption on: August 07, 2019, 11:06:11 PM
Hey guys,
where to find that information?
i am using a laptop which is 8gb ram, intel HD graphics 620.
can i use my laptop for mining for education purpose? if yes please give me a link for reference.
if no, tell me what i need to upgrade?

THanks

Even for educational purposes your laptop is not equipped to mine anything. Also mining with a laptop is never a good idea since it has a battery that can explode due to heat from the CPU+GPU. You should never mine with a laptop. If you really want to mine anyways then at least take out the battery and just leave the power cord plugged in.

Your best bet is to build a desktop and go on eBay and buy a cheap RX 470 4GB GPU and you will make like 0.50$ a day with that GPU before power costs. Its not much but a good way to get into the mining world. And later on you can go and build rigs of 6+ GPUs.

But you can't really upgrade the laptop, they aren't designed to be upgraded. Buy a desktop.
6219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 07, 2019, 11:01:44 PM
Switch to Gemini I got worried about my tax liability after I saw these emails were going out and emailed gemeni

Thanks for reaching out. Based on your account history, you did not meet the threshold for number of digital asset sales transactions in 2017 and 2018 and, therefore, Gemini does not have any tax statements available for you. Please note that Gemini will only send Forms 1099-K to customers and the IRS where both of the following conditions are met:

1. The customer's number of bitcoin, ether, Zcash, litecoin, and bitcoin cash sales transactions on the exchange exceeds 200 transactions per year, and
2. The customer's total sales proceeds from all sales transactions exceeds $20,000 per year.

For your reference, the amounts that would be reported on the Form come directly from an account’s transaction history Excel file, which can be accessed by following the three steps below:

Tho makes far more sense , if you are not trading like crazy over 200k trasacations no way coinbase should be farming out your info to the irs.  for the record I just use Gemini to go from crypto to fiat , sometimes I buy Btc through it but I don’t trade there , fees are too high and also to stay unde the radar.

Leave coinbase they are shitheads, btw I move well over 80 90k usd though my gemeni account each of the last two years Lol

200 not 200k.

My advice is use a non kyc exchange for your day to day trades , high volume shit and use another one far less frequently to cash out as needed no more than 2 to 3 transactions a month.  and Dump Coinbase!!

Yes but you should always just pay any taxes earned on income such as mining or capital gains such as trading. They might not send any statements to IRS right now since you are below $20K threshold but all your account history will be permantently there.

So in the future if the IRS sends Gemini an inquiry for any previous tax years even though you are under the $20K threshold they might still send your records. Also another issue is that your bank will see you are getting funds from Gemini and your bank will also have to provide that info to the IRS if they ask how much money was received from crypto exchanges.

The entire thing is a real big headache and its just better to pay the taxes than try and hide income.
6220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Save Investors? on: August 07, 2019, 10:52:40 PM
We have been hearing these "recession incoming" signals since 2010 and it still hasn't happened. There is always some economic that does some type of analysis and claims that there is going to be another 2008 recession and gets retail traders to short the stock indicies and they keep getting margin called because the stock market keeps going up.

Unless there is some massive economic disaster like the housing crisis back in the USA, I don't see a recession starting soon. Sure there are many auto loans which might default however autos are worth much less than houses and unlike houses they generally depreciate every year. Even if there is some massive auto loans crash, it won't affect the entire global financial economy like in 2008.

Don't read too much into these articles. They are just posted to get views and exposure but doesn't have any credibility.
