6262  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there something you can do if someone scams you? on: November 11, 2019, 01:14:34 PM
I remember last year someone is in the same situation as you are now when he engaged in some kind of transactions using bitcoin and got scammed. his case was he bought a car online using bitcoin at a cheap price and got scammed after that, he came to this forum asking for support. he taught that this forum is the customer support for the bitcoin user. by reading your post, now I believe that those fake offers get some victims sometimes and are always dramatic when you read their victim's post. that's why we really need to post an awareness about this happening to warn them on not to engage in some strange transactions using cryptocurrencies.

Was it on Bitcointalk? I've seen cars sold in the Marketplace before.

Wow, they sure progressed fast. Congrats to them!
6264  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2!! on: November 11, 2019, 06:29:03 AM
Actually captcha these days is nearly full proof. Bots can't select street lights or click on buses in the captcha photos. The captcha of 2005 was easy to defeat which was just a simple 4-6 letter captcha but these days it's full proof.

I wish that was true but unfortunately, Google have shot their own reCaptcha to pieces by pioneering picture recognition technology. There are still a lot 3rd world captcha solving farms using humans but the more sophisticated bots can solve them automatically.
Captcha is only an obstacle to small scale amateur abusers.

Are you guys using reCAPTCHA v3? If so, how does it fare comparing to v2?
6265  Other / Meta / Re: Adding a ‘Use a brand new username’ sign on Bitcointalk sign-up page. on: November 11, 2019, 05:51:41 AM

FACEBOOK is at the top of that list. And they won’t think twice about giving out user’s privacy details.
Btw, I think users need to know that there’re a few things to consider before signing up with a username since you can’t change it.

Yeah, we somewhat "agree" to take it up the ass by registering so they can do whatever they want with our content. It boils down to the company's ethics (and staffs) in the end.

But leaks do happen from time to time so we've to be ready for that.

6266  Other / Meta / Re: Adding a ‘Use a brand new username’ sign on Bitcointalk sign-up page. on: November 11, 2019, 03:37:24 AM
IMHO, I don't find this necessary for a few reasons:
1) Identity. Pretty much explains it if you don't fancy remembering different login combos.
2) There are websites linking usernames to IDs so that's half of the hacking challenge gone.
3) You can't do much with usernames, but not with emails or passwords which are rich in information.

But like what hd mentioned above, I agree you shouldn't use your real name.
6267  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fake Coinbase Giveaway, Stay Away on: November 11, 2019, 03:10:16 AM
Very sad that there are 2 victims already.
These probably are the people that never look into it first and never verify if the giveaway is legit from coinbase or any company which their name has been used by these scammers. I hope that there will be no longer other victims to be added sending bitcoin on that scammers address.

Sometimes the scammers will fake "deposits" to fool unsuspecting victims. I checked the address (which sent the BTC) and judging by the transaction volumes, it might belong to the scammers themselves.
6268  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2!! on: November 11, 2019, 02:43:53 AM

This is what person not very familiar with faucets will say. All faucets have captcha, but they are struggling to fight with bots. These abusers are smarter than many of you may think. I don't know how exactly they are doing this dirty job, but captcha isn't always a problem. Faucet owners (including Freebitco.in) must add much more security features and it still can't protect faucet 100%

Sadly they had to shut down freedogecoin because of this.

Bump!
6270  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I covert BTC to another to get lower withdrawal fees? on: November 10, 2019, 04:46:54 PM

So he need to pay trading fee for converting BTC to X coin then need to spend X amount for withdrawal then he need to move that coin to another exchange where that X coin is being traded with withdrawal fee is much lesser than $6,even if he finds he need to pay trading fee again for converting that X coin into BTC then the low withdrawal fee.If we sum up all these value with $6 then there won't be much difference I guess. Cheesy

Agreed. I'd understand if it was December 2017 as the fees were at double digits but now 6 bucks is pretty reasonable if you want it quick. Rather than place sell order, wait, cashout then back to buy order. Time is money :p
6271  Other / Meta / Re: "Report to moderator" wording on: November 10, 2019, 02:53:45 PM
Imagine a member holds a grudge against a mod/ staff and reports the post. You can see where this goes.

Thats why they are Staff and Mods , and i guess that was happend a lot of times for sure!
Its not an easy job or handling things when you doing that and you have to be always neutral , no matter what a member writes or post .
They have to follow there rules too they get from theymos .
Also all reports can be watched from all so everybody knows what for reports are coming in and all .
The only diffrent thing is that Global Moderators can Ban and Unban users and they can handle all Boards.
Should be no problem with that.

If they follow, good enough. But like us humans, there might be some that go rogue because there's nothing stopping one from simply harvesting.

Hope you get what I'm saying.
6272  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Yannik.biz - 10 000 satoshi welcome bonus - since 2015 on: November 10, 2019, 02:20:36 PM
Nice achievement. I also noticed an IOTA faucet has been added recently?
6273  Economy / Gambling / Re: wanshaizi.com on: November 10, 2019, 01:10:33 PM
For some reason, this bloke bugs me out. I'd prefer if you edit him out and maintain the Lambo (if that's one).

6274  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I covert BTC to another to get lower withdrawal fees? on: November 10, 2019, 01:07:56 PM
It doesn't make sense,he want to convert his bitcoin into altcoin but wanted to store the converted coin for long term,is there any altcoin is better than bitcoin for long term?

If he want to save that 6$,he might lose few hundred dollars in year.

He just wants to get the BTC elsewhere without paying the hefty BTC fees.

Pretty sure OP would convert them back to BTC afterwards.
6275  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do you like your sig campaign payments. USD vs. BTC on: November 10, 2019, 01:00:16 PM
its surprising that most people here still choose btc just by basing on the poll . i thought everyone is complaining about the volatility of btc ? i even saw some complaints that people protest to be paid in a usd rate rather than btc during the continous decline happened  . for me i would also prefer to be payed by a usd rates but as long as the manager or the campaign owner wont cheap us . the volatility thing of btc makes me only stress mostly when it declines just before the time of payments .

We're on Bitcointalk, of course the results are biased! Cool

Well, the volatility is pretty much paper loss. Even if it hits rock bottom, nothing will happen as long as we don't sell it.

On the otherhand, upward spikes keep us hyped too.
6276  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: {Warning}: Fake Trezor pops up in Google on: November 10, 2019, 12:58:02 PM
docs.google.com as a Trezor website?

Wut
6277  Other / Meta / Re: How did you chosen ₿itcointalk username at the beginning of registrations? on: November 10, 2019, 12:47:30 PM

I've been using this name for a long time, its kinda unique. Although some users mistakenly pronounce it as CANNIBALISM LoL.

I'm interested on knowing the reasons of theymos, yahoo62278, yogg, suchmoon, Vod, and Ognasty.

Sometimes your name really spells like one when I glance at it! Cheesy

And I missed those onerous glorious MMO days. Grinding used to be a chore but chatting with other players was fun.
6278  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I earn $1 worth of bitcoin everyday? Please help! on: November 10, 2019, 11:47:49 AM

Don't get cocky with me, must I slap you? What the hell are you doing to help?? Nothing.

Obviously, the tasks must be rated. WTF dude??? Obviously, if they rejected you get no cash. What the hell planet are you from? All work gets rated no matter where you work and ya you don't get paid if its not done right.
They let you know how long each rating takes beforehand anyway.

You got some serious issues, dude. In no way my post was being cocky. I was only adding that each task must be rated, assuming the OP thought completion would mean instant credit, like watching videos or such.

If you still got a beef with me, I offer my deepest sympathies.
6279  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ 777Coin Signature Campaign ★☆★ (Member-Hero Accepted) (New) on: November 10, 2019, 11:40:39 AM

sometimes laziness brings us to this situation lol.

why not check the spreadsheet from time to time to find your name if listed?but  if you're not there then surely you are denied .

it wasnt a hard job to check the sheet, and besides a true Forum members that wanted to help community will make a post even not participating a campaign.

another thing @Hhampuz is one of the fairest and understanding manager in this forum so if you dont see your name in the list meaning that you don't deserve to be in his particular campaign and Move On.

Just to add, Hhampuz would only quote you if you're accepted. He mentioned that when I sent him a PM.
