Nothing, and this is reported in all the threads about merit.

With all the censorship that is arriving on the later platforms, I think it might be worth skipping a level, and moving to newer sites like Steemit.

but I seldom use mine because i don't have a wifi or internet connection.
Have you tried tethering. I use it when the WiFi is spotty or non-existent.

I gave you merit in the hope that it would raise the blood pressure of the OP. Is that a valid reason to award merit? Well the post did have merit as well of course.

This thread is a classic example of why there should be restrictions. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3152896.0Although it probably wouldn't work in Meta, as one of the functions of this board is to help members recover lost or blocked accounts. Maybe we should just ban any thread that has the word 'merit' in its title or first post. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I've put you on ignore for starting yet another tedious and repetitive thread.
Just live with the merit system as it is, and stop polluting the boards. You will never get ny merit from me for starting yet another useless thread.

I look at some of the sigs if I think that the poster actually believes in the comment. Most signatures seem to be promoting products that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole, so I tend to ignore them all. This is probably unfair to the few decent promotions that may be advertised. I think it is time for the decent sponsors to make an effort to get the rubbish programmes banned. That would make an enormous difference to their credibility.

This is very Incorrect. Its the reason i asked because i have over 124 posts and 24 hrs online and still a junior Member.
In the ranking you have showed then i would have been a full member which i doubt i will be accorded without being a member first.
Hopefully my status change soon so i can do better bounties worth something significant
Based on that post, I hope you never rank up. We don't want people here who just want to rip off the forum, and pollute the threads with their bounty scamming posts. It's lazy people like you who will get the bounty campaigns banned from the forum, and good riddance too.

This is something that I've suggested on several occasions. In fact I suggested that very new members should be restricted in posting in some threads as well.

The only proper advice I can give you on crypto "investing" is: do not bet what you cannot afford to lose.
Crypto markets are SUPER HIGH volatile and HIGHLY MANIPULATED. The less the market is liquid the more it can be manipulated, and whales always wins.
This is the most important advice in this thread, and it is especially true in the light of the comment by pooya87. We are in a bear market at the moment, this means that most prices re going down. The timing of your entry is extremely important, also your ability to hold your coins in expectation of a recovery.

As far as I know, you should have enough merit to give to others. Your merit will decrease as much as you give to others. It works as 2 is to 1. It means, if you have 2 extra merits, you can give 1 merit to other. There are a lot of information included in the thread for merit. Search for it.
You are mixing up sMerit with merit. LTU_btc gave a more accurate description. You can't give away any of your Merit.

I've started this thread on the beginner's board, as I've seen several posts by new members saying how difficult they were finding it to contribute from a smartphone. This made me realise why some of the new members posts were of such low quality. I use a smartphone to read some of the threads, but I don't try to post anything via the phone, as I find it too difficult.
If you want to be a long term contributor in the Bitcoin Talk forum, I think it is worth investing in something with a larger screen and a keybord. It doesn't have to be much, I started using a basic Chromebook when I was travelling around, and free WiFi might be cheaper than a data plan on a mobile. If you haven't got access to WiFi, then tethering via your phone seems work well, but then you have to watch the data usage. Even cheaper would be an old netbook or notebook. The quality of your posting affects your ranking and your reputation here, and I find it almost impossible to contribute to the forum with just a smartphone.

Any suggestions? I have been lurking these forums forever.
I will suggest you to check STEEM and steemit platform. Steem is one of the things that I am looking at. It looks interesting, and it's one of the platforms that rewards content producers. I suggested in Meta that we have a Steemit sub-board, as I think it would sit well alongside Bitcoin talk. I think you need to be a video or audio producer, or a photographer to make the most of it though, but I'm new to the platform.

Today was my first day on the Crypto Market.
maybe it is just me but i say if you are new to all this, then it is not such a good idea to jump in like this and invest in 6 different altcoins instead of starting small and slow. if i were you i would have started with one, tries watching the market itself more instead of reading bitcointalk or elsewhere, gazed at the charts for hours,... and eventually bought my first coin and started my trading journey. additionally we are currently in a bear market where prices are all falling, that also makes things that much harder for you. It's always difficult to decide how to start playing in a speculative market. In the past, I used to make phantom bets first to see how I would get on, I always seemed to win, but when I tried with real money, it never seemed to be quite the same. If you've got a spare $1,000 that you can afford to lose, then a spread of five or six bets can be a good experiment. Hopefully, your winners will be greater than the losers. Also you may like to look at other ways to acquire coins other than just buying them. I don't mean spamming this board to pick up air drops, but collecting the more reputable coins. You can do this by obtaining rewards for content creation, or from coins picked up as a result of chain forks.

All of life is a contest, and this forum is no exception. However, there is a great spirit of cooperation and help here. In my opinion, we don't need article contests, but we do need posters who can contribute to the sensible threads, Discussions about the experiences of new members, and those new to crypto can be just as valuable and interesting as those of more experienced members.
We can learn a lot from other peoples mistakes, and their ideas.

As for the titles, it drives me NUTS when I see a thread title in Bitcoin Discussion like "Bitcoin". That's it, nothing else that would lead you to think that the thread is going to be anything other than a shitposter creating a shitpost-magnet thread for his alt accounts. I've even reported a few of these for just that reason, but to no avail. Thread titles should kind of be specific, that's my opinion, but these morons just don't care. Nor do they have vocabulary enough to come up with anything interesting or creative.
Actually I find that quite handy. You know that the thread is going to be a load of tosh, so I don't bother to open it.

I keep seeing 'Orwellian' cropping up in various political posts, and I did a search on YouTube for posts in the last month. This is what it reported About 737 filtered results So is this the new buzz word for the EU and various other regimes?

To clean scam gang, anyway presently I don't have time for moderating. Yep, I am not an alt of QS or Lauda. I may be ranking in billions, but what is Lauda's Tax number?
42 Where can I view with this number, website name etc. I own 42s.net if you can think of a good use for that name. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Are we starting a fork for this thread?

I tried an experiment on the beginners board. My merit give away thread was self-moderated, and I closed it when I had finished my thread scanning. It slipped to page 3 because no new posts were added to it. Just as an experiment, I found another post to award with a merit, and I reopened the thread. I posted a comment with a link to the awarded post, and closed the thread. This shows that is is possible to manage a thread/topic, and to avoid the thread becoming a spam fest. This is the thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3136930.0

The reason you don't see humor and wit on BCT *ahem* is that it will go unappreciated and mostly unnoticed by 95% of the foreign non-English speaking users here, so most people don't bother trying to be funny or witty. It's sad that this forum is like that but it's the reality of things.
Most of my posts containing English humour tend to be deleted by one of the mods. We English are an oppressed minority these days. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)
