6301  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency companies still can’t open bank accounts on: August 15, 2019, 02:49:20 PM
Here in India, earlier the local exchanges could open bank accounts. But then Raghuram Rajan (the then governor of Reserve Bank of India) prohibited banks from dealing with crypto-exchanges and all such bank accounts were closed down. Even now, none of the cryptocurrency related ventures could open a bank account in India. And even worse, there are no local exchanges remaining in operation.
6302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lomachenko-Campbell Unification Fight on: August 15, 2019, 02:45:13 PM
1.04 in favor of Lomachenko? Seriously? I don't know if anyone would make a bet if the odds are so unattractive. Even if Lomachenko wins, the players who made the bet in his favor may receive negative returns, after deducting the taxes, and withdrawal/deposit fees. And betting in favor of Campbell is out of question here, as he has virtually zero chance of a win.

It's really useless to bet on such odds. The risk is not worth the profit. And you can't be 100% sure about winner.
Though after beating Crolla, Campbell would be a piece of cake for Lomachenko. Fairlay is providing about 1.05 odds while the highest from everywhere is smarkets which is providing 1.08 for Lomachenko.

Even 1.08 is too low for me. I won't consider making a bet unless the odds are higher than 1.10. There is nothing like a "guaranteed win". Campbell has a very small chance of making an upset, irrespective of how crazy that sounds. And for me, if I am taking such a risk, then I should get at least 10% returns on my win. For now, I will just skip this fight.

Also, I don't understand why they keep giving Pant so many chances currently while KL Rahul needs to be given more chances. They need better selectors clearly.
India want Pant to be the perfect replacement of Dhoni who could keep the stumps as well as have the strong hitting power like Dhoni. Maybe that's why he is been given so many chances to proof himself.
He is leagues away from Dhoni at the moment. MSD likes to take it deep and goes for the big shots towards the end while Pant plays loose shots at the beginning itself and ends up getting out quickly like in the recent match.

He needs to improve his batting skills and be more consistent if he wishes to still be a part of the team. I like Pant, but he continues to disappoint everyone in recent times.

Pant was given enough opportunities recently, but he failed. Now it may be time for the Indian selectors to give someone else a chance. MSD needs to be replaced sometime soon, as he is already 38 years old. At the most, he has another 1-2 years left with him. The selectors need to act quickly and needs to find a replacement before he retires.
6305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Every time I sell Bitcoin pumps... Has BTC been good or bad for You??? on: August 15, 2019, 12:15:48 PM
You need to understand that Bitcoin is a very volatile asset. The only way of dealing with a volatile asset is to make your own targets. You need to set a target level at which you are going to sell a specific percentage of your coins. You can set another stop loss target as well. If you strictly follow this plan, then the chances are that you may avoid any large losses.
6306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pacquiao Vs Mayweather 2 on: August 15, 2019, 12:07:01 PM
Pacman's age isn't a problem, but with his successful career I believed that health is most important instead of fame. If I would be like Pacquiao with legendary fighting history, the option for retirement is very important. Although he's capable and powerful enough as a boxer, I don't think doing rematch with Floyd was just a concern of pride and not an issue of money. Manny Pacquiao was already financially stable, and this is not a very significant aspect.

Manny wants to avenge his loss against Floyd, and that is understandable. But the issue is that Floyd doesn't need to fight again. He has already earned more than a billion USD from his fights and he is out to enjoy his retirement. From what I have heard, he is not even training anymore. If Floyd want to return to the ring, then it may take many months for him to get back to shape.

^ IMO even T-20 is a very long format for Olympics.

If everyone wants to include cricket in the Olympics, then format needs to be short. Let's say wrap up one game within 3-5 hours max. In that case, T-6 and T-10 can do magic. Let 20-30 teams compete in the Olympics, after the qualification round and strictly no preference to any Test-playing nation.

Make a 4-5 small group, let the 4-5 games start simultaneously on the same day, With this whole circus could finish with in 15 20 days top after that ICC can follow their bilateral stuff for revenue generation.

Fun Fact : In 1900 England and France were up against each other for Olympic gold ( Cricket) England Won the Gold. Only 2 teams participated Cheesy

A T20 match lasts around 3 hours and 15 minutes (including the break in between the innings). T10 may take around 1 hour 45 minutes. IMO, 32 teams can be split to 8 groups, with each team playing 3 matches during the group stage. 8 teams qualify for the quarter-finals, 4 to the Semi-finals and two to the finals. The matches can be completed in just 7 days. If you want to include rest-days, then it may take 10 days.

BTW, only 28 nations participated in the 1900 Olympics. India and Pakistan didn't had a cricket team then.
6308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: August 15, 2019, 11:56:18 AM
The second Ashes test is underway and looks like England is struggling. Jason Roy out even before opening the scoreboard to Hazlewood (who was controversially picked ahead of Mitchell Starc). Looks like this is going to be another low scoring test match, similar to the first test, and there may be a chance of getting a result despite the rain.

The 2nd test also started bad for the England and Aussie again dominating from the start  as they did in the first test match. While i am writing this post, Burns catch was missed else it would have been 3 down for the England.
Denly and Burns have to make at least a hundred run partnership to be able to strengthen  their position in the match.

The dropped catch may prove to be the turning point in the match. At this level, you don't have the luxury of dropping catches and that too of top order batsmen. And see what happened after that. Burns and Denly have set up a solid partnership and together they have rescued England from another top order batting collapse.

I took part in a logo design contest for NEO and got the equivalent of £50 for my design, even if i didn't win.

A few years back, it used to be easy to earn cryptocurrency from such contests. But now too many users are applying for the limited number of slots, and as a result both the payouts and the quality has gone down. Even outside the cryptocurrency domain, payments for various freelancing tasks have gone down considerably.
6310  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-08-06] Venezuela Bitcoin Trading Hits New Highs Amid US Embargo on: August 15, 2019, 10:54:08 AM
Ryan Taylor (the CEO of Dashpay) once claimed that Dash was the most popular cryptocurrency in Venezuela and Bitcoin is far behind it in terms of popularity and acceptability. Now it looks like BTC has overtaken Dash. Anyway, it is good to see that the cryptocurrency market in Venezuela is consolidating behind BTC, rather than getting fragmented to large number of alts.
6311  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-08-01]"Bitcoin Creator" Calls Opponents Fraudsters. Ethereum Is Among Proj on: August 15, 2019, 10:47:41 AM
Nope. I wouldn't call him as an idiot. He created his own currency and named it "Bitcoin Satoshi Version" in order to create doubt in the mind of cryptocurrency users. He made well planned moved with his BSV coin and in the end he made profits worth hundreds of millions of USD. Idiots are the ones who had the misfortune of falling in to the trap set by CSW.

He accumulated a lot of BSV, at dirt cheap rates by provoking the crypto community (by filing lawsuits against his critics). A lot of the exchanges started delisting BSV, and the panicked users sold those coins at whatever rates they could get. Craig Wright accumulated a huge amount of BSV at very cheap rates. A few weeks later, he filed a patent claiming ownership to Bitcoin, and the BSV prices zoomed up by 150% or more. He sold a part of his stash and made many hundreds of millions of $$$ in profit.

He is one of the most intelligent players in the cryptocurrency market I have ever seen. He planned each of his steps in a meticulous manner and implemented them without any flaw.

He was an intelligent scammer who managed to make money by scamming cryptocurrency users. I sold my BSV coins (that I received after the forking) when the Blockchain.com guys threatened to delist it. Most of the Blockchain.com users were forced to sell the coins, as they had no other option. There is a chance that Craig Wright colluded with the owners of Blockchain.com to crash the BSV prices, so that he could accumulate the coins.
6312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banning bitcoins is against the law on: August 15, 2019, 10:43:33 AM
This is very funny. Law is something that is created and modified by the "lawmakers" (i.e the members of parliament). They can interpret in whatever way they like. Some of the laws in India are self-contradictory. For example, the constitution guarantees equality to all the citizens. But still the government has introduced affirmative action in educational institutions (up to 75% in some cases) and jobs, based on the caste and ethnicity.
6313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Adoption In Your Country on: August 15, 2019, 10:40:22 AM
I do not know exactly how many people have adopted Bitcoin in my country. In Indonesia we have a fairly large crypto Exchanger namely Indodax. In the Indodax website there are already around 1.7 million people who register. You can check here https://indodax.com/en . This number is quite large increase from year to year.

I remember when registering for Indodax, which used to be called VIPbitcoin in 2014, there were only about hundreds of users. Now Indodax users in our country have reached 1.7 million, which indicates the enthusiasm of Indonesian citizens.

That is the information for just one exchange. In total there may be 5 to 10 million Bitcoin users in Indonesia, including those who are not registered to the exchanges. All around the world, the Bitcoin user base has expanded during 2018-19. Here in India, there are an estimated 10 to 20 million users despite the extremely hostile stance by the government.
6314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 76% of dark market using Bitcoin on: August 15, 2019, 10:37:05 AM
I am not very surprised. First of all, it is not that easy to get Monero (XMR). You need to purchase XMR from the exchanges and nowadays almost all of them have KYC as a mandatory requirement. And they are keeping a close watch on anyone who withdraws XMR from these exchanges. For many of the users, opting for a Bitcoin mixer is a more anonymous route.
6315  Economy / Economics / Re: Who is the richest person? on: August 14, 2019, 06:10:27 PM
OP has given a clear statement on the richest people as well the hidden identities who are truly rich but not known to the world similar to that of Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates. The world has changed, earlier there was humanity around, further as the importance of money grew high the humanity too started depending on money. This is a cyclic process and once again we'll experience true richness from the heart soon as people are getting towards their passion in large scale than following money.

You are right. Bezos and Gates earned their wealth in a legal way, and therefore we have an idea about their net worth. But there are criminal organizations and mafias out there, whose annual turn over is in tens of billions of USD. For example, the annual turnover for 'Ndrangheta was estimated at €44 billion in 2007. The same for the Mexican cartels may be even higher.
6316  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: August 14, 2019, 06:00:13 PM
This statement might be of any value 10 years ago where we used to say that real cricket is the test cricket. These days this is not the case and there are many T20 players emerging players which are good in T20 and ODI but could not play the slowest format of the cricket i.e Test cricket. Also test cricket is very limited these days and only few matches are played in test match format.

I don't agree with the last part of your post. It is not right to say that only a few matches are played in the test format. If you take the case of all the major teams (India, Australia, South Africa, England.etc), the total number of days spent on playing test cricket in any given year is more than the total number of days spent on playing either T20 or ODI.
6317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pacquiao Vs Mayweather 2 on: August 14, 2019, 05:40:51 PM
As far as I know, Pacquiao's term ended and he's not a senator anymore.

You can check the 12 senators of the Philippines right now, he is not one of them. Last year, he is one of the senators but not now. I don't know what will his plans right now, all I know is that he is resting right now planning for another fight or maybe a rematch since there are a lot of talks about him fighting again Mayweather or maybe another boxer. As a Filipino, I would just support him unless that is a bad idea, but not the rematch though.

IMO, he should not pursue both the options at the same time. We have seen what happened to Vitali Klitschko when he did something similar. In the end his boxing career suffered and in politics he remains insignificant till now. Pacquiao should not enter politics unless he retires from boxing. It can do more harm to his political career, if he gives less attention to his political duties in the early phase.
6318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: August 14, 2019, 05:35:42 PM
The whole day washed away. Even the toss did not happen. So if they can start the match tomorrow then this will be a 4 day Test match. May be we will be looking forward to a draw Test. Good for Australia but not for England. Australia already have 1 - 0 lead of the series.

There were three international matches today. Two test matches and one ODI. The test match between England and Australia got washed out, while the one between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was disrupted by rain after a good start. And as per the latest information, the ODI match between India and West Indies may also get washed away.

Final score: Rain-3, Cricket-0.
6319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: August 14, 2019, 05:32:27 PM
No mention about Gayle playing his last ODI match but mostly people were cheering him for playing his 300th ODI.

BTW, BCCI wants to include cricket in LA Olympics now by 2028. I feel it's a great opportunity if they recognize Cricket also and was wondering what took them so long to include this sport.
BCCI is the only think stops cricket to be added from olympics,it was the internal politics between ICC and BCCI after the introduction of IPL league.

BCCI was always opposed to the inclusion of cricket in the Olympics and against the globalization of the game. But it was Dave Richardson of South Africa who decided to keep cricket out of Olympics in 2015. The big three (BCCI, CA/ACB and ECB) supported his decision. This decision was reversed with the election of Shashank Manohar as the chairman of the International Cricket Council on November 2015.
6320  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-08-02] Bitcoin.com to Launch an Exchange on: August 14, 2019, 05:17:59 PM
This throws up a few uncomfortable questions. Bitcoin.com is controlled by Roger Ver, who was involved in unethical behavior earlier. This website had tried to project BCH as the "real" Bitcoin to the new users, and many of them actually purchased BCH after falling to this trap. They have lost their reputation even before the opening of the exchange.
