6321  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up easily. Newbie to Member in less than 2 months! on: August 03, 2018, 08:53:18 PM

Hello SEO corp, i know you have followed me from the start and i always enjoy your posts and input. I find your words always very honest yet encouraging to newer members so i always have respected you for this reason.

Again you are absolutely right, but there's certainly no malice intended with keeping these s-merits!  Grin, as i also just explained/replied to Coolcryptovator i don't really need to repeat myself as i'm sure you can read it already.

I am going to get onto it ASAP and hopefully encourage others to make an effort. I think once you see that first one you then know its possible and that people are looking at what you write and it encourages good posting behaviour.

Thanks for your kind words, and sorry if I did sound a bit rude. Yes, to give someone his/her very first merit I think works as a clue. I mean: if you give someone a merit for a thread, probably this person is going to understand what is a good contribution, so he/she will be encouraged to keep doing!!! That`s why I find so important to be supported with some good newbies, deserving ones. Of course, this is a personal approximation, really subjective, and each one has a mind and personal preferences.
Anyway, congrats on becoming a member so fast. You deserve it.
6322  Other / Meta / Re: Alternative to merit system on: August 03, 2018, 01:44:39 PM
The Problems with the Merit System

The merit system is flawed in my opinion, not enough people are willing to give out merits because if they do then they lost some of their own merits. Which leads to only a small amount of people managing to increase their rank on the forum, there is no clear guideline on how to earn merits and the supply of merits is unclear. Therefore it doesn't increase meaningful discussion or give recognition to any good content.

I do concur with you about the people conserving their smerits. I think we maybe need to calm down in our standards and see the global user, meaning: if the guy has a pretty decent post history, if you can see that he/she is trying hard, well, this one should be able to earn merits. But let be honest here. Most of the people don`t get the point, they prefer to quote whatever massive thread they found with nonsense lines which help in nothing to the poster or that have been already said many many times in the same thread. I think you need to understand that, quoting in mega threads is not giving you any chance of earning merits, for those threads are not even read, the people use to just take a look at the title and then run into an answer, without reading the full thread, without adding anything.
Just try to avoid these ones, and to engage conversations that are actually being interesting. I guess you are from China, many of us are interested in the Chinesse political-social circumstance so, for instance, you can write about that in the Politics and Society board and see what happens. Besides, think about your own skills, and how can you become an important part of the forum here, what kind of information do you have that, and how to spread this.

Now, regarding the Karma system, it is impossible to implement in here. This is a very competitive place, and given the number of users coming here just to earn something, well, merits are needed to stop the spammers in their ranking path. Notice that being a spammer is just to post garbage, to do infinite reply to megathreads, et al. Just try to understand the forum spirit and you should be able of doing it nice, and, probably, you will get why the merit system actually matters.

Just change a little your mindset, man.

6323  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up easily. Newbie to Member in less than 2 months! on: August 03, 2018, 04:43:54 AM

This is one of the biggest problems of the current merit system in my opinion. People keep on stakimg sMerits instead of spending them, drying out the merits in circulation. I am not sure how to solve this problem other than educate people to keep on spending sMerits (like you did). Noone will benefit if we all keep our sMerits and dont use them.

Totally agree. I find kind of hypocrite the people talking about how difficult is to earn merits and, at the same time, keeping them as a treasure (Gollum "treasure") while they are speaking about how the system should be fairer to newbies.

To the OP. I remember giving you your very first merit. Trust me, it feels nice, so, why don`t you just spare your merits and help others to rank-up? I don`t have any left, for, as soon as they come, as soon as I look for someone to award. If you have Smerits, it is also important for you to distribute them in order to help others to feel the same as you felt while receiving your very first one!! Why are you keeping them and at the same time speaking about merits?? Tss, just a question,  a legit one, I think.
6324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help me about send to multiple addresses by Bitcoin on: August 03, 2018, 01:14:33 AM
Thank for all support. I have tested Electrum. It very good for my jobs. Love all

Good to see nice people helping.
As said, nowadays Electrum wallet is the easy way to do this. Some years ago blockchain.info wallet had this option, but no one knows why on their upgrade they decide to take it out, now they only allow to spend one addy on each transaction.

I write you because I have another option: bitcoin core. This is the most powerful wallet, it not only allows you to send to multiple addys, but to choose the inputs. I know many people in pain just for having a 200GB software in their machines, but if you have to make 500 payments on one transaction each month maybe bitcoin core is a good option because you can make a small script to automatize those payments.
6325  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal from a Member [vphasitha01] on: August 02, 2018, 07:21:20 PM

Thanks for sharing. Yes, in fact, it seems like he plagiarize some parts from the medium article:
ORIGINAL

COPY

Anyway, that`s for the admins to determinate, but, yes, it seems like plagiarizing to me too, for he didn`t include the Medium article in his sources and actually the paragraph is identical.
6326  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal from a Member [vphasitha01] on: August 02, 2018, 07:03:09 PM
<...>
The thread you posted is no longer available, so it is impossible for anyone to determinate if you actually copied/pasted the Medium and the Youtube information.
Honestly, all that you can do is to wait for the admins to see your case.

If there is an archived copy of the thread the OP is talking about, it would be useful to share it.
6327  Other / Meta / Re: The link between quality altcoins and Bitcointalk on: August 02, 2018, 06:36:32 PM
@seoincorporation
I needed to read it 2 times myself, I think the person comes from England because he typically writes like an English citizen. People in Uk speak much better than English US and when it comes to people with a high education it can be difficult to understand them the first time.

In my opinion, the forum shall be neutral and lets the members do their due diligence. if it doesn't you would see people claiming the forum has a double standard, is corrupted, etc...
But it's up to its members to warn others members while discussing, it's something coming naturally. At the same time search engines help for people outside the forum

It's really a doc that worth reading

@ r1s2g3
Sure you can.

Yep, I read it once really slowly and it was... difficult but interesting. I agree it is not our duty to determinate what is or not a scam, but, maybe we should point it out more often, meaning, that the principles in here are based on freedom, even when a lot of projects can actually do harm to some people. Maybe by exposing how a scam works more often, even pinned on the Alt section, we just can establish a statement: "this is actually free, but you need to learn how to be careful".

Glad to see that there are already some academic investigations ongoing.

Also let's not forget, this is a bitcoin forum over everything else... the altcoin section was just created as a containment area for people posting endless alt threads off-topic.

Well, sometimes I think we have come far from this, from being a Bitcoin forum, and this place is now a "Cryptoforum". Whatever, I agree with you. This is not about responsibility, but intelligence: if someone is willing to believe anything and put their money in some stuff with no previous investigation, that`s on them.

6328  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nicaragua Critical State of Alert background by a nicaraguan citizen. on: August 02, 2018, 06:25:14 PM

About the future:
I already saw what happened in venezuela so i think things are going to get worse in every aspect. thats why im getting ready before they do.
I had plans to go to spain next year to study hematology but right now that's impossible because the  office that emitted certification i needed were in the university is destroyed right now. and i haven't been able to study as i suppose.

So do you have your studies certificate? In order to be able to study in Spain, yes, probably you will need a La Haya convalidation, you can ask in the Spanish consulate, if any, in your country.

Besides, I think that due to the actual situation in your country you can actually ask for a sort of refugee status in Spain: https://www.tuabogadodefensor.com/guia-solicitud-asilo/

I`m glad we could help you a bit, man, really.

6329  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to earn a merit on: August 02, 2018, 06:10:59 PM

I think a person who has a good personality  and self respect cannot follow his instructions.

Of course. I used to have the OP on my ignored list, due to his/her behaviour. I believe in second opportunities, but it is sad to see that someone can be led by his own frustration instead of learning and try to see what`s going wrong.

+1 with seoincorporation

Actually ,  It is too hard to do good work and focused in it without any incentive that's why the "OP" got all the idea.
OP saw the Merit that people got for criticizing (may 1 ,2 or 10)  but OP completely overlooked how much merits that constructive people   get.

If OP can give me a single example where somebody gathered 100+ Merit by this strategy ? But some people gathered in excess of 500 Merits by posting good articles and topic.

PS: For Newbies, If this is such a good strategy then OP might be bathing in pool of Merits so you can safely discard it.

Totally agree. You can see some profiles that have already hit the mark and become Full Members in no time. I also know a couple of cases of people earning enough merits to become Hero Members in no time, as @DdmrDdmr, for instance.
I get the frustration, but I think one of the best mindset you can have is just to relax and think about what are you doing wrong. The OP`s mean problem is that he/she has never tried to change his mindset, but to spare this kind of stuff, classism, hate, envy.

OP, you write quite well, but you need some originality. I think you can actually become a good one, you should be able to earn merits, just think about what are you doing wrong and stop hoping to receive a merit for any single post you create.
Sometimes I put a lot of work into a post and receive no merits for that (I don`t care since merits mean nothing to me), and it is just how it works, it depends on circumstance, so relax, man.

Anyway, ignored again.
6330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: MARKET IS RED AGAIN on: August 02, 2018, 03:17:13 PM
May be this year is the worst year for the crypto. market is very uncertain and no one knows the reason All we have is just a "hope" do you really believe that crypto will revive again.. i am losing hope now

To revive again?

Bitcoin isn't dead yet and for a lot of users it still at a great price. Your words only prove how new are you on the business, but let me share my experience with you. When BTC hit $1000 for first time, that was the best year for bitcoin in that moment, but the next year it have a slow drop to $250 and guess what, that was the worst year for bitcoin. Many people buy when it was at $1k then lose hope and sell at $250, and yes, that means the 75% of the invest just gone. But that was like 5 years ago. Now let's take a look about what happens nowadays. BTC hit $20k last year, that was the new best year for bitcoin, and of course this could be the worst year if it keeps going down. But for lot of people the price still good. For me watch bt at $7500 is something that still shocking me. I never think it would be at $20k and for me anything over $1000 is a good price for btc. So don't lose hope, just ride the wave, buy low and sell high. That's how it work if you want to end with profit.

Be sure you read the thread rules very well before doing your quote, ok?
6332  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to earn a merit on: August 02, 2018, 02:14:31 PM
Advice to the Newbies reading this:
This post has been made for a poster that has tried too hard to earn merits, by copy-pasting other`s people great contents, by complaining, by copy-pasting his/her own texts in order to seek for merits, by beginning useless posts, by playing with the rules, et al.

Do not believe that, and of course, do not follow these instructions, for they are breaking the spirit of the forum. You can be critic, and people probably will be, at some point, critic with you. But if you take other`s opinion too personally then you become in a frustrated-poster, as the one creating this useless post.
To spread hate and classism is never going to help you to earn any single merit, on the contrary, you probably end banned at some time.

Now, Merits are something that really concerns you, and I get it. Just read a lot in the forum without the thought of how to learn merits but the honest intention of learning in here, engage conversations only if you have something to add, chill and do not think too much about merits, for if you become obsessed, you will stuck at some point. There are also wonderful initiatives, like the FitToTalk project, dedicated to those with a weak English, and, actually, you can earn merits by joining in there and creating good content, it will be revised in order to improve your English skills, and then you will be able to post it in here. This project, for example, is being run for some high-ranked people in here, volunteers trying for you people to improve your posting quality and be able to rank-up: https://fittotalk.com/english-talk/index.php
So, actually, some people in here is investing personal time in trying to help you guys to rank-up.

Yes, the forum can be sometimes quite hard, for, from time to time, you will receive some bad quotes to your own post. But it happens to everybody in here, Legendary includes, it is not about ranking, it is just about the place you are in: a really big one, with a lot of different minds, and you can always find someone disagreeing you. If you take it too personally, again, you will become, as the OP, a sad frustrated guy. So chill and take the things as they come: just opinions, nothing else.

EDIT: I see you have earned a merit for spreading hate and complains about the forum. Annoying, it shows how actually the forum is in a really bad shape.
6333  Other / Meta / Re: Last edit preview? on: August 02, 2018, 01:57:04 PM
What do you mean preview? You mean log the entire post as it was initially made?

As far as I know, Facebook used to show this message "last time edited 00.00" (I don`t use FB) or something like that, showing the readers that the post was edited and the time of the last edition.
I think the user is asking is such kind of tools can be available in here
6334  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nicaragua Critical State of Alert background by a nicaraguan citizen. on: August 01, 2018, 10:16:53 PM
Well let me tell u the government has fired more than 90 medical doctors because they helped the wound ones and they are bringing cubans doctor to replace them they are gonna give them citizenship( in venezuela they did this to make them able to vote for maduro in the elections) .. if you look in the history its exactly what maduro did in venezuela... its incredible its exactly the same recipe.
Thx god i havent lost my job yet so im still able to work and invest in while i can... i got horrified when i talk to some venezuelan friends and what they told me like 2 years ago its happening here already..
In my hospital already told us they are gonna fired people because of the crisis. but they haven't fired anyone yet.

I think every payment i receive could be the last so thats why im in such a hurry to learn how to earn money with crypto but i haven't found a way to turn the crypto in fiat money around here.

Wow man. I hope we can help you, either on the Ftt project or in here. I don`t know the situation in Nicaragua, is Localbitcoins running in there?
Maybe the best step is to buy some bitcoins before anything worst happen. Anyway, being a doctor I think you might have a brilliant future ahead, and a world to discover. You can work in anyplace!
6335  Other / Meta / Re: The link between quality altcoins and Bitcointalk on: August 01, 2018, 09:03:54 PM

"Our findings imply that the
true nature of the cryptocurrency community is neither too gloomy (purely hype-based with zero
fundamental value) nor too optimistic (with many opportunities to disrupt the financial system). But
rather the community should take a more pragmatic approach toward the ecosystem and emphasize
on an objective vetting mechanism among the large pool of available altcoins and promote the few
innovative currencies that advance the current technology and raise confidence in the ecosystem
as a whole.
"

Love this paragraph, and all the paper, to be honest. The analysis is pretty accurate in its conclusions. The selected part of the paragraph I believe to be one of the most important conclusions in the whole paper. Yes, we have some responsibilities in here with the crypto world. Even when this forum can -and probably must- be a free-place to all altcoins, is a fact that too many of them are nothing but a scam.
Do we have the responsibility, as a community, to detect and even pursue these ones, so the crypto world can have a best-trusted image?
I think so, sometimes. After reading the paper, I`ve come to understand how important the forum actually is as a reflection of the crypto-ecosystem; how really matters, and will matter in the future, the behave we have in here.
It is really difficult to determinate which cryptos actually have or not a future, but, once a scam is detected, I don`t think the forum should allow it to persist in here, in any way.

Thanks for sharing that. I`ve expended the most marvellous hour trying to understand the work behind this paper. Probably, I just come to understand few -my English can be poor- but it has been really illustrative.

PD: I do think that thread should be here in Meta, it opens an interesting discussion about the forum.
6336  Other / Meta / Re: How recognized are you in the bitcointalk world? on: August 01, 2018, 08:44:04 PM
It's amazing how provincial I've become, even on the internet.  Hell, even on a single website!

Yeah, that`s what precisely came to my mind at the first look. I used to spend all my time in the tech discussions boards, and now I´m engaging with the forum and actually caring for it. The people differ a lot from board to board!! It`s like moving from one village to another!!

I do love Vod`s work. Awesome, man, thanks. Also, it is interesting to see how many accounts are "sleeping" right now. As said, probably is due to the bad state of the forum, but I prefer to think that, somehow, they are spreading the "Bitcoin word" just in another side Wink

Thanks, Vod. I`ve come to understand how my social life works in here, and also it looks like a pretty awesome tool for forum investigations too.

How do you give a blow job to a notebook keyboard?

I`ve never been a notebook keyboard, but I guess having saliva any close to it might not be a great idea.

I'm starting to think that nobody wants merits on this board. After all, if they earn some merits, then they won't be able to whinge about not having merits to make their bounty spamming quota.

Me too. That`s sad, but maybe for them is easier to complain in Meta and in here instead or putting themselves to work. I love those writing about how legendary members despise the newbies, I think I`m going to keep this thread closed to me for shut-up purposes.
6338  Other / Archival / Re: Do i need a license if i want to create a crypto gambling site? on: August 01, 2018, 03:58:12 AM
If i wanted to create a crypto gambling site would i need to get a license in the countries where my customers would come from?

as in if i targeted people in the UK would i need a UK license?

or is the crypto space exempt from the licensing as it's not "fiat"

and if a licence is needed would i need one for each country i want my site to be used in or just one in general?

i realize this might be a nooby question but i wanted to ask as i don't know much about the legal side of the gambling scene.

First of all, I don`t think that this thread should be on the Serious Discussion board. To that end, you have the Gambling discussion or the Legal one. Besides, there are already threads related to your question like this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=863492.60
In my experience, you can get the license depending on where you are hosting your casino.
6339  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The junior blog about your Bitcoin and crypto activity today. on: August 01, 2018, 03:44:41 AM
As some of you know, I'm running through the alphabet with sMerit projects, and here is the belated bMerit thread.

It is open for beginners and Juniors, and you should post about you activity today.

I think you mean "your" activity today.
That`s an interesting initiative and I think it can help the people to think in the "here and now" before posting for the day.
Also, a friendly bump.

People, this is, in fact, a challenge. For those who read this post now, you have some hours to create a really good thread or quote before JC awakes in his region. That`s a good opportunity of earning merits, so use your brains!
6340  Other / Meta / Re: Why this marked as "unhadled"? on: July 31, 2018, 07:04:56 PM

CTRL-F his userID in modlog: no(t yet).

Jajajaja I can`t believe I didn`t know that already. Thanks for the information!!! Every day we learn something new!

Also, there was a good suggestion a couple of days ago, about changing the profiles of those banned so their status will appear under their name. It seems like a very useful tool needing to be implemented in order to avoid "resuscitation" of useless posts...
