6381  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: January 26, 2022, 05:28:19 PM
One of the requirements to submit a vote is to be a Full Member or have 50 merits. Are you making any distinctions between airdropped and earned merits? I think earned merits should be considered but maybe a lower minimum. I would take a lower-ranked member with 50 earned merits over an active Legendary who hasn't earned any since the merit system got implemented any day of the week.

Grin

6383  Economy / Gambling / Re: NEW Flush.com Crypto Casino - ♠ $BTC ♦ $ETH ♣ $DOGE ♥ $LTC on: January 26, 2022, 02:13:59 PM
I have a question for FlushCasino.
I would like to divert your attention to this quote from Mahdirakib, which is about the minimum withdrawal amounts and fees from your casino:

Currently the min withdrawal amount is 0.00063594 BTC (including the withdrawal fee) in Flush casino. Actual min withdrawal amount is 0.00055594 BTC (excluding 0.00008 BTC withdrawal fee). And the value of 0.00055594 BTC is $20 at current bitcoin price. Basically, their min withdrawal amount is equivalent to $20 in BTC plus the withdrawal fee (0.00008 BTC).
Is that correct what Mahdirakib is saying? Is your minimum withdrawal amount always $20 worth of BTC + the withdrawal fee? I checked the current numbers the way they are shown on the withdrawal page and compared the data with Preev.com, and Mahdirakib's opinion seems to be correct.
When we are on the subject of withdrawal fees, do they change or are they fixed at 0.00008 BTC all the time?

Recommending such channels right off the bat is very likely to push newbies into dabbling into altcoins very early on; even if they still don't have a decent grasp on Bitcoin.
That should of course not happen. Still, I think it's important to learn how altcoins work to appreciate the advantages that Bitcoin offers. One way to understand if A is better than B is to compare them and make your own conclusions. If you read or listen about a project that has a closed-source network with a governing body or board of directors that approve or introduce all changes and features, you will see that it can be done in a different way. If you learn that a coin was pre-mined or that the addresses making the majority of transactions belong to the developers, you will see that that doesn't happen with Bitcoin. If you learn that a network has smart-contract capabilities but you need to convince a small centralized group of owners to make a change because it's in their best interest, you'll understand that Bitcoin's owner never thought that way. Etc., etc.

The CoinBureau dude gives altcoins too much attention but he also has Bitcoin-related content among those hundreds of videos he has created. And I have seen him criticize coins and their teams for lack of transparency, unverifiable claims, and other things.
6385  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How bitcoin has employed more African youths. on: January 26, 2022, 08:39:54 AM
African countries are most times referred to as third world countries because of their under-development and under-civilization caused mainly by bad leadership.
Let me fix this part for you a little bit. African countries are called third-world countries by those exploiting and plundering their natural resources. They have done it for thousands of years and don't plan to stop. The lack of education and corruption also doesn't help your cause unfortunately.

I agree with most of your points besides the trading Bitcoin and crypto part. I don't believe that an uneducated and unexperienced youth should be trading anything. A lot of the youth in any part of the world fit that profile. I wrote a thread on the dangers of trading not that long ago. I think it's fitting to mention it here > What Can Happen If You Want to Trade Cryptocurrencies, but You Don’t Know How?
6386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello I am novice on: January 26, 2022, 08:23:52 AM
Andreas is always a great source for Bitcoin-related videos because he explains technical stuff in a simple way for everyone to understand.

When we are on the subject of suggesting Youtube materials, there are also two channels that I like to suggest to newbies for basics about Bitcoin, but also plenty of info on altcoin projects (if they are into that of course).

If someone were to create threads from articles at a particular site, that is otherwise interesting, I don’t think any rules would be broken.
Me neither but the problem is that those who engage in these kind of activities usually can't create any quality of their own. It's usually just copy-pasted materials with no inputs or feedback from OP whatsoever. The only goal is to place that link in the post and tick that as work done on your list. And then you do that as fast and as much as you can... Thread starters don't even go back to check the comments made about the post, engage in discussion, or answer questions. They don't have time for that and don't want to do it because new links need to be spammed.  Roll Eyes

It's almost the end of January, so I took another look at my marketing email address that I used to bombard crypto websites with my offer to shill their brand and articles. I wanted to see if any other interesting offers were submitted. However, that wasn't the case. Those 7 examples in OP are it.
6390  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: January 25, 2022, 06:49:59 PM
Update:

- Changes have been made to the numbers for Betja, 500 Casino, and Bitsler.
- I am still waiting on confirmation from the WinDice forum representative, and I need to take a second look at Flush casino.

@panjul07
Owl.games looks really nice. I can see that they have been on Bitcointalk for 1 month. I will check back on them soon when it's time to add some new casinos to the table. Thanks for the suggestion.

However, you didn't ask it in Flush casino ANN. Have you skipped them as their ANN thread is inactive since last two weeks?
No, I didn't skip them. I didn't want to spam the same type of questions in multiple gambling threads in quick succession. I will take care of it tomorrow. Wink
6391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I invested $100 for 18 years for my new born nephew on: January 25, 2022, 10:04:51 AM
@Imran232
How much have you told your brother about Bitcoin? The paper you gave him with the seed phrase, does he know not to carry it with him in his wallet or use it in the kitchen as a place to put his cups on? Most people are used to having a custodian (financial institution) care for their money and they don't understand that lost seeds mean lost Bitcoins. I understand that you have kept a copy of the recovery phrase yourself.

Are you planning to gradually increase that $100 initial investment? Think of it this way. You bought at $35k. If Bitcoin goes up 100% (to $70k), your investment is now only worth $200. Who can say it ever will? We hope so, but there are no guarantees. How much will those $200 help the child with college tuition and whatever else you planned it to be used for? You might need to add to the stash from time to time.

Nice initiative btw.

You'll probably need something like $100k to cover his expenses and I am not sure if bitcoin will be able to make a x1000 run. Not impossible though.
Where? I am pretty sure that you and OP are living in totally different geographical regions. Based on the info that his brother makes $90/month working as a security guard, I am pretty sure that costs for a good high school and college education won't be around $100k in his country.
6392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investor Psychology on: January 25, 2022, 09:37:28 AM
That's just the way the brain works. Whenever something drops in value or losses momentum, people will create negative associations with that. It it were good, or as good as they say, it wouldn't be losing value like this. That's the way people think. When you add negative press coverage and constant reminders how Bitcoin has lost 40-50% in recent months on top of that, what we are seeing now is the result of that.

The opposite happens when Bitcoin starts rising sharply. Everyone starts talking about it. That creates increased interest and people start buying again. You will then be bombarded with news and headlines saying that Bitcoin will reach $100k, 200k, and some crypto influencer suggests he will eat his dick on Twitter if it doesn't go up to $1 million a coin. The fear is now gone and it's back to buy whatever you can get your hands on.

Rinse and repeat.

Hi UserU,

Mahdirakib made me aware of something I didn't notice before when it comes to withdrawals from 500 Casino. If the information is correct, your withdrawal amount is always the equivalent of $15.01 in Bitcoin. Can you confirm if that is correct or not?
6394  Economy / Gambling / Re: ♨️🎲 WINDICE.io 🎲 Contests 🏆 TvT 🔰 Progressive Faucet💰 Jackpots 🎁❤ on: January 25, 2022, 09:11:57 AM
Hello windice,

I have a question regarding your minimum withdrawal amounts. According to Windice's payouts tab, the current minimum is 0.00041332 BTC. That's around $15 right now. Do the withdrawal amounts always change to be the equivalent of $15?
6395  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetJA.com | The highest Payout + $10,000 Prize for BET Free on: January 25, 2022, 09:02:48 AM
have you checked their faq section ? it says that US and its territories are not allowed.
Based on that information and screenshot alone, it should be clear that he ought to stay away from Betja because US players aren't allowed. Trying to bypass this restriction by using a VPN can just lead to problems with fund seizure, account suspensions, and being accused of using multiple accounts.

I don't care who wins if I am not even nominated. Kiss
If you want my vote, I do accept bribes in Bitcoin exclusively! PM me for my bribe BTC address.

Kidding aside, Sportsbet has really outdone themselves this year. Even if you aren't a Saints or Arsenal fan, that's a phenomenal award. @icopress thanks for the mention. I have made a note on my to-do list so I don't forget to submit my votes. May the best man, woman, or LoyceV win.

I want to know how the moderator delete spam post from the forum? They did go to that section and delete spam posts of those spam posts that have been deleted if someone reports them to a moderator. I am asking this because I also got a 7 days temporary ban and before that more than 100 of my post deleted by the moderator within 24 hours. So I want to know moderator did visit someone's profile to identify spam posts or they just deleted everything reported by other reputable members?
There are no precise guidelines that moderators follow when it comes to deleting posts. Each sub-board you post in has its own dedicated mods. Since we are talking about the altcoin boards, those are managed by mprep and Welsh. Global Moderators can delete any posts on the forum.

Someone might have reported a few of your posts, noticed a pattern, and decided to post a note that the admins should take a closer look at your entire post history. Or one of the staff members came to the same conclusion after deleting some of your posts and remembering your name.
6398  Other / Meta / Re: What outsiders know or say about Bitcointalk. on: January 24, 2022, 02:37:47 PM
2. It said that the first Bitcoin transaction happened in this forum, which is the popular 10,000 Bitcoin for pizza.
Is this actually the first bitcoin transaction?
No. That's just the first time that Bitcoin was used as a payment method to purchase something of value (two pizzas). It was the first time it was used as money. The first transaction happened in the very first block. Satoshi also sent transactions to Hal Finney before the pizza transaction.

4. In conclusion it agrees that bitcointalk is the oldest forum and that it is still reputable till date.
Quote
Bitcointalk is one of the pioneer crypto communities that launch ICOs and crypto-related projects.
Not the oldest. One of the pioneers, meaning one of the oldest.

Bitcoinwiki
1. It says Theymos is the admin but the domain name is owned by Sirius.
Cřbra and theymos have managed Bitcointalk and Bitcoin.org for a long time. But that's no longer the case. theymos doesn't have anything to do with Bitcoin.org anymore and Cobra has no rights on Bitcointalk. This quote explains it nicely:

Quote
Satoshi created both bitcoin.org and this forum, which was originally at bitcoin.org/smf. Later, the forum got its own domain name, but due to this history, bitcoin.org and bitcointalk.org have traditionally been linked, and for quite some time Cřbra and I have together managed the domain names. However, Cřbra has never had much involvement in bitcointalk.org's operation, and I haven't involved myself in bitcoin.org for a couple of years, so the linkage between the two no longer really made made any sense. Therefore, we decided to separate the domains: I no longer have any access to the bitcoin.org domain name, and Cřbra no longer has any access to the bitcointalk.org domain name. The two sites should be viewed as totally separate, which in practice they have been for years.

There will be no changes whatsoever on bitcointalk.org due to this, and I'd assume that the same will be true of bitcoin.org. The bitcoin.org open-source project has been advancing steadily, and I hope and expect that it will continue to do so thanks to the efforts of its contributors.

Thanks to Cřbra for handling much of bitcointalk.org's domain-name-related work in the past.

6399  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Error in buy BTC in Wyre with Electrum on: January 24, 2022, 02:16:02 PM
A second reason why you can't buy crypto directly on https://pay.sendwyre.com/ is because you have to register an account first and go through KYC.
Ledger's documentation mentions you have to go through identity verification before you can buy with Wyre.
Address and identity verification is also required according to a source posted by Edge.

Begs the question what is the purpose of the https://pay.sendwyre.com/ website in that case?!

Thanks for the honesty Zach.

n0nce has already posted some estimates regarding the battery life of Batch #2, but can you provide some more information about this? Based on your tests, how long will a fully charged battery last for the second generation?

Regarding the plastic vs glass covers. I personally prefer glass. I have cellphone with a glass back cover. It's a big fingerprint magnet, but I don't mind it because it feels and looks more professional.

This might be a stupid question, but why does the FE not have a charger, so if I wanted to, I wouldn't have to use any batteries if I didn't need them?
