I would be happy to alleviate peoples concerns Smiley

Quote
I would very much like to volunteer to serve as an escrow if the community would allow me.

After the recent spike in IPO scams it would be nice to have a 3rd party trusted by the community to intermediate between all these new IPO coins.
I myself am wanting to invest in HeavyCoin but am reluctant because of the fear that the devs may be corrupt and run away with the funds Sad

I've had my profile on here for a while and I have a little bit of trust reputation already from some little trades for newly launched coins. Nothing amazing but at least it's something. I've been trying to get my trust rating up to make trades in the forums for coins that aren't on exchanges but there are so many scammers around that no one is ever willing to go first and this would be a great way (for me) to overcome that Smiley

Also if the developers want early access to any of the funds for promotional reasons then they can let the thread in their respective forum know in advance and justify themselves for transparency.
The dev's can still be emailed the tx numbers and view them at their leisure.

This could be a good thing for the devs because they could potentially raise more IPO investment because people will be less afraid and more trusting and it could also be a great thing for the community to know that the devs cant go rogue and run off with the coins.

I'm happy to provide any information on myself for security and reassurance and I'm also happy to take no commission since I've never done this before and have no real reputation just yet. But who knows, one day I might be known as the escrow guy or the devs could pay bountys to successful escrows Cheesy

here is a bitcoin facebook page I've had for a while:
https://www.facebook.com/bitcoinbillboard

the twitter feed that goes with it:
https://twitter.com/BitBillboard

and a guide to poolmining bitcoin I wrote in early 2013:
https://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F2409-cpu-pool-mining-using-digitalocean-vps-instructions%2F

and if you google 'derrend bitcoin' you will find references to me contributing in forums from stackoverflow to reddit and many places in between.

You can also find my gpg public key by searching for my username on the MIT public key server for anyone who may be interested:
http://pgp.mit.edu/

If the community isn't keen then that's fine but I'm very much up to the task and hope perhaps that my offer might be at least considered.
All feedback appreciated
Thanks Smiley

I'm dead serious about this fellas, a quick and easy contact in the forums who is open about his identity and volunteers to act as an intermediary would be a valuable resource to the community I would say.

Well I have put myself forward and am willing be be of service to anyone who needs it. I'll leave it as a standing offer to the community. Thanks.

I created a wallet address and made the label public to everyone can see it's for 3rdcoin.
Also if the developers want early access to any of the funds for promotional reasons then they can let the thread know in advance and justify themselves for transparency.
The dev's can still be emailed the tx numbers and view them at their leisure.

This is the address I have created: 1ARWmSdcbb5to79SYCeFAPgebo8NK54izK
If the devs are happy with this and if the community agrees then they can put the address in the announcement post.

650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / How to PoS mine using headless 'mintcoind'? on: February 28, 2014, 03:21:00 AM
I've been googling and even looking at peercoin equivalent examples bt i cannot find anywhere how to turn on PoS mining without involving the qt-client. please can someone let the community know how to turn on pos mining using the headless server and an unencrypted wallet. (I would like to leave the wallet unencrypted because it is easier for my current circumstances).
Any help would e greatly appreciated. Thanks Smiley
651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *14 Exchanges on: February 27, 2014, 03:34:55 PM
Is it possible to mint coins using the daemon rather than the qt wallet and if so, how? all the examples i've seen so far only deal with the wallet app. Thanks
652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Buttercoin: OpenSource P2P Exchange on: February 27, 2014, 07:07:23 AM
The problem with buttercoin as i understand it is that you must pay a percentage to the buttercoin developers so it's actually more like a subscription if im understanding it correctly?

This coin was left for dead by the original developer just one month after launch.
A new thread containing an updated version of the code can be found here.

i want to get involved but that 20btc deposit on the first day of the announcement into the IPO bitcoin wallet makes me suspicious that you just bought your own ipo or something to that effect, seems strange that someone should invest such a large amount of money in such a short space of time. Excuse my suspicious mind :p
656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] InsanityCoin - coin for investors and traders on: February 20, 2014, 05:21:32 AM
Please don't think I'm an idiot, I just was someone to spell it out for me for clarification purposes but - Every time a transaction occurs, every time a balance is sent from 1 wallet to another 10% of the balance is lost and this is always the case. Is that correct?
Thanks :p

Oh yes that'sa very common error. It means wait for the Web wallet. Ha kidding, looks like you need to reindex though.
I did already reindex to no avail unfortunately Sad
659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: February 18, 2014, 09:55:26 AM
Please can someone help, I keep getting stuck with the following error after following the build instructions on counterpartyd-build.readthedocs.org
Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/home/$USER/counterpartyd_build/dist/counterpartyd/lib/util.py", line 424, in last_block
    last_block = cursor.fetchall()[0]
IndexError: list index out of range

During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/home/$USER/counterpartyd_build/dist/counterpartyd/counterpartyd.py", line 489, in <module>
    util.versions_check(db)
  File "/home/$USER/counterpartyd_build/dist/counterpartyd/lib/util.py", line 289, in versions_check
    block_index = last_block(db)['block_index']
  File "/home/$USER/counterpartyd_build/dist/counterpartyd/lib/util.py", line 426, in last_block
    raise exceptions.DatabaseError('No blocks found.')
lib.exceptions.DatabaseError: No blocks found.

I have included my config files for bitcoind and counterpartyd respectively:
Code:
#bitcoind.conf
rpcuser=<bitcoind_username_Alice>
rpcpassword=<bitcoind_password_Alice>
server=1
daemon=1
testnet=1
Code:
#counterpartyd.conf
[Default]
bitcoind-rpc-connect=localhost
bitcoind-rpc-port=18332
bitcoind-rpc-user=<bitcoind_username_Alice>
bitcoind-rpc-password=<bitcoind_password_Alice>
rpc-host=localhost
rpc-user=<counterparty_username_Bob>
rpc-password=<counterparty_password_Bob>

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Smiley

Anyone else having problems with BWisdom right now?

It doesn't seem to be updating anything for me...

This site works and it's got more features:
https://www.tradingview.com

$50 drop in value and every bitcoinwisdom user just missed it. no telling how many potential premium members just walked away and how many actual ones deserve at least a partial refund.

The charts are amazing and i love them but i'm so furious right now, this is the worst possible time.
