641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mining ban in Europe on: October 30, 2022, 05:32:56 PM
https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2022/10/18/eu-countries-must-be-ready-to-block-crypto-mining-commission-says/
EU Countries Must Be Ready to Block Crypto Mining, Commission Says
"The European Union's executive arm also wants blockchains to show energy-efficiency labels and to end crypto tax breaks.
Europe represents 10% of global proof-of-work mining"and

Can this affect the price of bitcoin or is this another anti-mining statement?
I don't know why this new sustainability saga is going around the World. Almost every business these days have to showcase their contribution to environment. I don't think this is wrong but to be true most of it is just a sham and actuality is far away from truth. Companies often say false in these statements. Talking about bitcoin the only way it can be energy efficient is if it shifts to mining using only and only renewable energy methods which is very difficult considering most of the mining is still done in developing nations, other way out is to shift to pos which will defeat the very purpose of bitcoin so makes no sense to shift on that as well.
642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 29, 2022, 05:53:42 PM
New Zealand beat Sri Lanka brilliantly. Basically, New Zealand is a much better team than Sri Lanka. I personally like their style of cricket. New Zealand gives Sri Lanka a good target. But the Sri Lankan batsmen were unable to cope with the New Zealand bowling and were defeated.

The Sri Lankan batsmen's confidence was seen at the beginning of their batting and it was clear that they were going to collapse very quickly. Apart from Rajapaksa and Shanaka, none of the batsmen could play big shots. New Zealand is definitely a better team than Sri Lanka on Australian soil. In the last match, Australia's batsmen could not stand in front of New Zealand's bowling. New Zealand won two matches by a huge margin to ease their way to the semi-finals.
You can never believe that Sirlanka won Asia Cup this year ,the way they played today is extremely disappointing and poor. Starting from poor fielding to poor balling and than batting .
They collapsed overall. Newzealand no doubt an exceptional team and brilliant innings by Glenn Phillips.
New Zealand are a beast in this competition if India wins the match against South Africa tomorrow I can easily predict final of NZ vs India. Talking about Sri Lanka, playing on the subcontinent pitches is an entirely different feeling for the players as compared to playing in Australia, the key advantages of your team while playing in subcontinent can become disadvantages while playing in Australia. So change of pitches is Obviously a big factor. Most of Sri Lanka batters have never played in Australia so this type of performance is obvious for them.
643  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think of gold price in long term? on: October 29, 2022, 05:48:44 PM
As fiat currencies dump, some countries are moving towards increasing the amount of gold they have in their reserves. More specifically some of them are dumping US dollar to replace it with gold. For example India recently bought 200 tonne of gold and there is rumors of more conversions happening. China has been doing something similar under the radar. So are others.

However, we haven't seen any significant changes in gold price yet to approve the above news.

I'm wondering what does everyone think about gold price in the long term, specially in coming year or two as the conflicts get worse and more economies crash which would push regular people to invest in gold and more governments to start increasing their gold reserves on larger scale.
I don't think so this is going to happen. Why would countries go to gold instead of dollar standard? I mean if they will remove  US pegging of their currencies in international trade they will maybe create a swap sort of things with respective countries where by your currency can be strengthened. Moreover countries have come from this gold pegging system already earlier they used to keep gold reserves but they eventually got rid from it for good now they won't be going again into that mess for sure.
644  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk Becomes Owner Of Twitter, Immediately Fires CEO And CFO on: October 29, 2022, 05:44:10 PM
Well according to the blog post "Elon Musk has officially become the owner of Twitter after the acquisition closed on Thursday. As reported by Reuters, Twitter’s CEO and CFO, who allegedly provided very little information and provided misinformation, was terminated from the contract and expelled from the head office.
On October 27, billionaire Elon Musk officially became the new owner of social media platform Twitter with a bid of $ 44 billion. The deal was completed after a long time when Elon Musk repeatedly changed his mind about the acquisition and went through a legal battle between the two sides.
Elon immediately fired the company’s executives and chief financial officers, Parag Agrawal and Ned Segal, and other issues. Legal issues and policy director Vijaya Gadde. These are the people Musk alleges they misled him and Twitter investors about the number of fake accounts on the social media platform".

Do you think the Tesla CEO made the right move by firing these top people in the company? There is no denying that Twitter has a lot of shot comings just like every other big platform out and needs some serious overhauling. There are so many complaints about bots and scams and those are the major area Elon intends to tackle. Hopefully, with this new ownership, we are going to see Twitter in a different state.

What are your thoughts?

I think Elon has the power and also a reputation to take instantaneous decisions and that also decisions which are very wierd. I feel that anyone who controls so many businesses really wants to make sure all it's businesses are in right hands. By right hand i mean not only skill wise but someone who matches your mentality as well. So obviously this decision was very right by Elon and he has full rights to do such things.
645  Economy / Economics / Re: Why exactly did Elon want to buy Twitter? on: October 29, 2022, 06:05:26 AM
Seems it’s official. However I am puzzled as to why he bought it in the first place.

For one he overpaid for it because looking at tech stocks like Facebook, it’s value would be probably less than $20 a share compared to the $54.20 he paid for it. So he really must have a big interest in it.

Anyone know why? Is it because they banned Trumps account? Is it because it’s censored too much and he wants it to be more decentralized ?

I think Elon has given a big enough statement citing the reason why he was keen on buying Twitter. Most of it revolves around how Twitter is going to be a medium of exchanging useful thoughts in the future and how an unbiased speech is required on the platform. But I think this decision revolves more around proving himself in front of the world. He has been known to take wild and crazy decisions and I think buying Twitter is one of them. But strange to see firing all the CXOs on day one itself because if there were any differences in approach they could have been settled through conversations but he has chosen the hard way to bring his own guys in to get better control over Twitter.
646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 28, 2022, 06:32:31 PM
There have been a lot of washouts in this world cup unfortunately. England vs Australia today would have been a great match.
Yes, I also think that we would have seen a beautiful game in this match, but due to rain, this match did not happen. However, I made a bet with my friend about this match, because of the match, we had to cancel the bet.
The really exciting matches are not being held due to rain. There is no extra day for these matches, which I think is a failure of ICC. If most of the matches are not held in this way, it is doubtful whether the qualified teams will be able to play the semi finals or finals.
Exactly, world cup has become really biased with these matches being washed out. I mean especially if you see where big teams had their matches with associate nations. Teams would have thought those were brownie points like for South Africa. But now as match was washed out you can afford to lose only one match and even after that NRR might come into play somewhere. And such big matches like Aus vs ENG too could be deciders.  I think icc should have kept some reserve days for these matches.
647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you Consider the Price of Bitcoin to be More Important than its Purpose? on: October 28, 2022, 06:23:06 PM
Obviously the purpose, no doubt in that. I know people have now started using it merely as an investment tool but deep in the core bitcoin is a financial revolution. Moreover price is nothing but a function of demand which is created due to the underlying purpose only. So obviously purpose is much more important and honestly it has fullfilled it to some extent as well. Obviously not till a complete extent but still upto some extent bitcoin has achieved what it was created for.
648  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to DCA when BTC crashing on: October 28, 2022, 06:19:55 PM
Lets be assumed

BTC Crashing 20000$ and 15000$ maximum . From 20000$ how to DCA?
I think at 19k you can put 50% of your remaining capital into the market. And the remaining 50% you should put in the market at around 15k. Market might go even below this point but honestly that would be very temporary and has a very slim chance that would happen. Investing in these two chunks itself would be enough and will give you a dca of around 17k which is good enough in my opinion.
649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I made a mistake shorting BTC at 17k on: October 27, 2022, 09:09:32 PM
I've been holding BTC since 2020. 2 weeks ago when inflation data came out saying core CPI went up a lot i sold my BTC at 18,000$.At first it seemed i made right choice since stocks went almost -3% premarket and i thought we're gonna have final capitulation in both stocks and BTC, that it will go down to 13-15k.

Well when market opened everything just went up, ended like almost +3% at the end of the day. It was the perfect explanation why you shouldn't time the market. I made a huge mistake and i really refuse to buy BTC at now higher price.
It really seems BTC bottomed at 17.5k and stocks(SP 500) at 3480.

Now market is pumping like crazy, its obvious we won't go back to 18k or below.
Good luck to all, i hope you're smarter than me
To be honest, I feel we might see a leg down to 17k if we are really going to a bull market, you see entering a bull market requires toppling a lots of shorts, only when there are a lot of sell orders then can the whales actually bring in their capital, to make it look it's bearish time they have to give up a wick down to 17k area again, I think market will gain some green momentum in coming days but then there will definitely be a big wick down before actual rising starts, because so far things have rather been quite slow only if you see. Secondly talking about CPI data and Bitcoin, I have never ever been able to understood the correlation between the both I am surprised how have you figured it out?
650  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear market likely over? on: October 27, 2022, 09:05:25 PM
Seems the bear market is likely going soonest. Congratulations in advance to those who bought low and those hodling for a long time. There is likely going to be a new all time high to be achieved before this year comes to an end. If you can, fill up your bag but do your own research.

What do you all think about the sudden bounce back and price increase on Bitcoin of lately?
Not at all, it might go for a break for sure as we have been pretty bearish from long term and might see some signs of bullishness now, but this does not means that we will go on to 50k or something in next few months. I remember when one bullish cycle finishes and then a bearish cycle finishes, market accumulates itself, it accumulates itself for too long, for days and weeks and months, same will happen now, you will see many bull traps, many bear traps as well but expect market to remain sideways for sometime, we will topple between 20k and 40k range for quite some time now atleast until the next halving after which we might gain momentum towards a bullish market.
651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Macro factors might Hit BTC to bloody on: October 27, 2022, 07:35:34 PM
As per my understanding.

we only focus on micro factors , but need to consider the macro factors. who knows what direction Global inflation does go , Corona virus new versions , Economic recessions  ,Housing bubbles, World wars.

Before 2025, we can see more fluctuations on Equity , BTC markets with these macro. Dont think always technical will lead to find the bottom of btc or up.
Actually, Technicals always discount the macro indicators when forming various patterns, for example, if you remember the initial fear around Corona Virus made the market so skeptical and vulnerable that the market fell to below 4k but then came back up forming a very long wick down with a small body candle which indicated a very bullish momentum and then despite covid hitting the world badly the whole market became so bullish in the upcoming days. So you don't really need to worry if you only see technicals as rest of things automatically get discounted into that.

Biggest Upset in T20WC - 2022

First of all I would like to humbly say one word for Pakistan team OVER CONFIDENCE . Getting defeated by Zimbabwe is the most humiliating event happened to them after getting their win  snatched  by India.

This is hilarious in my opinion as the important player of the Zimbabwe side named Sikander Raza was not at all productive today. I was accepting Pakistan to win this match but as always they are dependent on the opening pair.

Getting into semifinals is no more easy for Pakistan after what happened today. This defeat should make the Pakistani side understand that all mighty will never help you unless you work on the basic.

What an amazing moment is for the Zimbabwe team. They were an underdog but after this win they have become a contender to win this tournament.
What a match today, Zimbabwe nowhere looked like an associate nation. They played perfect process cricket in all the three aspects. That save of boundary on the first ball of the last over was sufficient to prove this. That 1 run might have made all the difference. Coming to Pakistan, it's not only over confidence it's lack of skill I would say. This doesn't looks like a team which can play in Australia, until when will Pakistan be dependent on Babar and Rizwan? If they don't perform the whole line up isn't capable enough to even take you to a par score. Forget about the pace line up they flaunt so much about. Sheer pace cannot help you take wickets, just because you have good pace and it's Australia you'll not automatically get wickets, you'll have to adjust yourself according to pitches. My stand pretty much remains same from the Asia Cup, this Pakistan team isn't a world class team at all. They showed that in Asia Cup and are showing the same here as well. Just winning 1 or 2 matches here and there can't prove your greatness. They should focus on building real match skills in their players, not just flaunting that how their players can hit 150 sixes everyday in nets.
653  Economy / Economics / Re: The whole tipping culture in western countries is unfair and totally wrong! on: October 16, 2022, 06:38:39 PM
First of all, A few people saying this optional and not mandatory might not know it's mandatory at many places infact some add it into the bill as Service Charge.

Talking about the flawed logic first, you are absolutely right why should one tip someone what they are assigned to do? Also if they are having low pays out of profits of hotels, it's absolutely the hotel's fault who is charging so much from me and not giving enough to it's waiters or staff. They should correct their business model first. Secondly if this is the criteria there a lot of people who are underpaid even in corporates this way to one should tip everyone after completing their task.
654  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Christian and politics on: October 15, 2022, 08:13:56 PM
Is it a good idea for Christians to get involved in politics, because if they are involved in it, they tend to lie, make promises they can't fulfill and sometimes get their hands dirty which is sin.

And ministers of the Gospel, are they suppose to endorse any candidate to their congregants. What's your take?
I won't comment anything on Christianity specifically but almost all the religions advocate the same thing to not to lie. But if you see almost all the religious stories you'll find politics was the backbone of all the dynasties in the mythology. Also churches or any other religious institutions are places where politics is played the most. The people use politics so much to reach to the heights of these institutions. So i don't think it's a sin to practice poltics.
655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another opportunity is coming, a time to hold on: October 15, 2022, 08:04:23 PM
I have been very busy which makes me not to post this very early as it was last week news. Just that it is still very much worth it to post this.

More than 30% of Canadians plan to purchase crypto by 2024, says OSC head

Some people said a period of time will shock people when the price of bitcoin will no more rise using the 4 years cycle. Some even said that bitcoin market is matured already that this bull run trends may not become possible by 2024. But the good news is, you should still believe in bitcoin, it will not disappoint you in the next cycle.

According to Ontario Securities Commission head, the chief executive officer, Grant Vingoe, he said that they know from their research that 30% of Canadians are willing to invest in crypto asset by 2024.

Quote
“We know from our own research (being published later this month) that more than 30 per cent of Canadians plan to buy crypto assets in the next year [...] It is a challenge to bar non-compliant firms from offering services in Canada. With a limited budget and finite Enforcement staff to cover our entire capital markets, there is only so much we can do. But we are making progress.”

I believe if this kind of research is conducted in many other countries, more people will want to invest in crypto by 2024. And what should we expect by that time and 2025? Bull run.
I think the markets no matter how mature they are will always follow a pattern and repeat history it's not because of some myth or something it's just tokenomics and people's perception about that very asset. The time frame might not be the same it might differ this time but eventually bull run will come and yes there are a lot of people who still want to come inside the market and enjoy the crypto ride. So yes market is going to hit the bull run in 2025.
656  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is a creeping beast on: October 15, 2022, 07:58:16 PM
Every now and then we get new monetary policies and as money supply keeps growing too rapidly inflation sets in which inturn reduces the purchasing power of our various fiat currencies. This inflation don't just happen spontaneously it starts with a comfortable price hike everyone can cope up with and continually increase until it becomes noticeable.

It comes in stages the first face might only affect the poor and small scale entrepreneurs, the second phase might be a matter of concern for medium  scale entrepreneurs ,the third stage is when the large scale investors gets affected too and the final stage is when the producers start feeling the impact on the cost of raw material and reduction in production quality and patronage. Before this time there have been slight change in material cost but it might not be too obvious to stair national concern.

The world at this point needs a decentralised currency that can be monitored through a public ledger  that way excessive money printing will be curtailed and going by how challenging keeping up with the rapid inflation has become there is every tendency of having worst GDPs in coming years because if manufacturers and Producers fails to meet up the hight cost of production then they will in due cause turn to low standard products just to keep the demands and stay in production
People do argue that world needs a decentralised currency but honestly how will it solve the purpose? I mean think of a scenario where you need to buy vaccines for your country due to an immediate pandemic, now when you are using fiat it's easy you can just print more money and buy it and can foot the bill later but in case of a decentralised currency you are stuck, your people will keep on dying and you can't print more money you have to accomodate in just what you have.
657  Economy / Economics / Re: JP Morgan CEO, Jamie Dimon, another Charlie Munger? on: October 14, 2022, 07:41:13 PM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5406263.msg60565731#msg60565731
I decided to refer to this old post since it actually relates to the situation at hand.
It's not surprising that people still tend to criticize good things and Bitcoin in particular, and since everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, several hate speeches can be heard of about Bitcoin.
JP Morgan CEO, Jamie Dimon has also come out to give his two cents in his take on BTC. He was heard saying on Twitter " I will never buy BTC".

Speaking at the Institute of International Finance held in Washington yesterday, he tagged the coin as "dirty and "expensive". It's not a surprise as he speaks like a true banker. He also asserts that Bitcoin has no value and was quoted in October last year as calling the coin as worthless.

But ironically, he remains quite bullish on the Blockchain as he is optimistic the technology could reduce some rigorous parts of banking.
And Bitcoin be looking at this stuffed, opinionated folks like; "really?"🙄
https://u.today/jamie-dimon-slams-bitcoin-as-dirty-and-expensive

First of all as I always say bitcoin as an asset is a big challenge to all the merchant banks who create synthetic derivatives in order to gain money from big companies and individuals. In fact these synthetic derivatives were one of the prime reasons of the 2008 crash as well. I feel one shouldn't feel bad with such comments as these people will obviously benefit from any harm which happens to bitcoin. They will curse bitcoin and later their banks will start providing bitcoin in the portfolio of their clients.
658  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does Trading Volume really matter ? on: October 14, 2022, 07:13:44 PM
I've only started noticing the Trading Volume stats on my favourite projects. I am a little intrigued as to what this exactly means, does it really matter much ? Some lesser known projects like Yield Yak have barely $4,000 in Trading Volume, yet the TVL is something like $50 million, whereas a better known project like Raydium has a Trading volume of more than $6 Million, with a TVL of only a little more than triple the TVL of Yield Yak  ( $160 Million TVL )
I'm also surprised that some lesser known gaming projects like Vulcan Forged have a high trading volume , whereas others ( like Axie Infinity ) have a relatively low trading volume.
The way I interpret it right now ( correct me if I'm wrong ) is that trading volume is high when an ecosystem is very active and adoption is growing relative to other projects, so it's a good indicator to buy into that project.
See trading volumes decide how much is the liquidity of your assets if there are very low trading volumes like the projects you are talking about you'll not be able to sell immediately at the market price when you want to you'll have to wait for a long time which can be disastrous in choppy markets. Also less volumes is an indication that people are not that much intrigued in the project so it might not be that good as well.
659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC NOT BACKED BY ECO SYSTEM on: October 13, 2022, 07:16:16 PM
TODAY ONE OF MY FRIENDS ARGUED WITH BTC. BTC IS NOT BACKED BY ANY ASSET OR BUSINESS. SO BTC IS ONLY FOR SPECULATION PURPOSES.

ETH AND OTHER MAJOR ALTS HAVE ASSET BACKING AND REAL USE CASES. FOR EXAMPLE - FOR ETH; SMART CONTRACTS CAN BE USED IN CONTRACTUAL DEALS.
SPECIALLY ALTS HAVE ECO SYSTEM. BTC DOES NOT HAVE.

I STUCK BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW A COUNTER ANSWER TO THIS. PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW TO COUNTER ATTACK THIS.

First of all ETH isn't backed by smart contracts but if offers a way to create smart contract as well, however this does not mean the smart contract has any value. Similarly other alts do provide value but is their price actually a barometer of the utility provided by it? Ofcourse not. Coming to btc it's utility is the easy transferring and storage of value which no other asset outside Crypto world provides this is what is bringing btc's value.
660  Local / India / Re: Cybercell Hold Bank Account for Certain Amount Solution? on: October 13, 2022, 04:34:13 PM
I have done few trades with verified people in localbitcoins. After few weeks my SBI bank Holded an X amount reason Cybercell MHA NOC

As usual sbi staff has no clue.

I have dig up some info from twitter and few law forums and youtube videos lots of accounts or on hold or freeze.

How can i remove the hold? Contacted cybercell via site no response.

Any solutions or precautions or measures to be taken.

Please reply fellow members.

This is problematic, i think best way can be to pursue this legally try having a word with the cyber crime department by directly walking into the department, or maybe you can try to approach the court as well if you can prove that you are facing issues in your daily activities because of all this. Government is surprising first they will want you to keep everything in bank account then they will freeze it with you waiting for your own money. How problematic is it for someone who doesn't keeps handy cash.
