They could just overuse the disturbing the peace statute rather than micromanaging and creating more laws even further. Increasingly totalitarian societies don't like people hanging out in groups to spread the word about things outside of what the sanctioned media is able to spread.

I completely agree. There's laws already that cover this stuff, they just decided to go full retard.

Indeed, but I only found two images and the one I preferred (with a red swastika) wouldn't load.  Sad

maybe licking boobs is good to be banned too   Grin

Don't even kid about that. You take that back!  Angry

That's quite the impressive account you've got there, but it's obviously not actually worth $4504.83. They just want you to feel like it is. Cheesy

Well if everything in my library was bought at non-discounted prices, then it would be. But I got a lot of it in bundles or on sale Grin

Even if you bought everything at full price, it still wouldn't be worth that much. You only would have spent that much. Everything depreciates over time. The older a game gets the more it depreciates in value, until finally it's no longer worth anything at all.

Fear is healthy, just don't let it paralyze you and keep you from doing what you need to do.

Whether it be fight...

Or flight.

Only a true idiot is claims to be fearless.

<Edit> Transcending the fear of injury or death would either take great conviction or (like I already mentioned) mental instability.

Actually you're right. Maybe I should tell it like "how to seem fearless?"  Fear is a natural effect but I don't want anyone understand that fear.

Perhaps, you just lack a particular skill and therefore confidence? Becoming skillful at something will give you confidence and drastically reduce your fear of it. (ie. Fighting, scuba diving, flying, etc.)
647  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst Movies You Have Ever Watched on: March 14, 2015, 01:18:58 PM
One of the worst movies I've ever seen has to be Paycheck. This is unusual, because it is based on a story by my favorite author of all time, Phillip K. Dick. I want to believe that if Ben Affleck wasn't cast in the starring role it would have been a much better film, but there was just too much deplorable acting to ignore.

I think you need to watch more movies if you think that was the worst. Ben Affleck is a mediocre actor but I didn't think he was terrible in this. I like Phillip K Dick's stories, though. Minority Report is my favorite film adaption of his.

All of the underworld films, biggest pile of dog shit ever imo, that and anaconda.

If they are so bad why did you watch all of them?

LOL That's exactly what I was thinking. I've only seen the first two and they were far from bad. I kinda like the atmosphere they had but you can't have disliked them so much if you watched all the others. Isn't there like 4 or five of them total?

Yeah 4 in all, and yes i strongly disliked them. Not my cup of tea at all, of course that day stuck in my mind so I instantly thought of it when the question was posed but I'm sure I could think of tons more crappy films.

Paycheck was awful mediocre, but I really don't like Affleck. Minority Report was decent, but I really like Cruise.

The original Underworld was fine, but they got progressively worse, IMO.

I didn't even watch Anaconda, Pirhanna 3D, or any of those Something-Shark-Something movies. I just naturally assumed they were all crap.

I hope this isn't new to you.

Today's media has nothing to do with "telling the truth"..  Every post is misleading and somehow diverts the truth and the whole story to serve their interest. (Who is "they" you ask?..)

No, nothing new, unfortunately. SSDD.  Sad

This is why it's always a good idea to check out more than one (alternate media as opposed to MSM) news source.

It saddens me how people can greet this 'Brave New World' with such delight.

Well... you either didn't understand my comment or you chose not to understand it. I'm talking about taking responsibility for the 'Brave New World' you helped create along with everyone else, delight has got nothing to do with it.
If you prefer to sleep on a nice comfy bed and have internet instead of sleeping on dirt in some cave, that's perfectly understandable but you should accept the consequences of your choices and not be double-faced about them. If you think you can use control just to get the nice things while leaving out all the lame ones, then my friend you are more naive than the ant you walked on before going to bed.
There is always a way out but it's not a pretty one and it does not involve banding together to 'fight the system'.

I just disagree. I believe that, by using a little common sense and discretion, there's no need to go overboard in either direction. You're taking the position that to have any control you must accept all control, otherwise to limit control you must essentially rid yourself of control entirely. That is like saying, you must "throw the baby out with the bath water", if you don't like dirty bath water. There is a such thing as a line and crossing it. Do you drive your car with either the gas full throttle or the brakes full on? I doubt it. I'm sure you use moderation (based mainly on common sense) when considering what speed to drive according to your whereabouts and driving conditions. Without speed limits and stop signs you wouldn't automatically drive like a maniac either, just because no limits have been externally imposed upon you, unless you're just being foolish or reckless. Let's not support idiocy or fascism by making ridiculous, nonsensical rules for every little thing.

Don't you see the flaw in your reasoning? Common sense according to whom? Who's this perfect being that will give you a perfect definition for 'common sense' or tell you when enough is enough? Common sense has always been and will always be relative, the world as it is now is where 'common sense' leads to. Every leader in the history of mankind have operated according to what common sense is to them.
The 'balance' you describe here is what humans have been seeking since the dawn of man, take a look at the world can't you tell if we're nearly there?
This concept of "no need to go overboard in either direction" only exists in dreams my friend, it's what 'good' people keep telling themselves to take the edge off the pressure from guilt that keeps building day in day out.

Quote
Common sense is a basic ability to perceive, understand, and judge things, which is shared by ("common to") nearly all people, and can be reasonably expected of nearly all people without any need for debate.

Unfortunately, people in positions of authority are all too often influenced by a number of things that may contradict common sense. Money and power being the most common.

What kind of friend would do such a thing?! The US has been planning and preparing for war against Iran for over half a century. Israel can't just come along now and mess up all that hard work! Roll Eyes

Well, not for over half a century; at about that time they were busy getting rid of their democratically elected government and installing a Western friendly dictator in power.

Meddling with other countries is often a precursor to war. (ie. Sanctions against Japan and the aiding of their enemies were the precursors for their attack on Pearl Harbor.) Notwithstanding this regime change, it's been more than few decades since the United States first imposed sanctions against Iran, following the Iranian Revolution of 1979, and expanded them in 1995 to include firms dealing with the Iranian government.

[In 1997, 'The Project for the New American Century' (PNAC) released a "Statement of Principles", which has been called a "secret blueprint for US global domination". In it, they expressed a desire to initiate wars with a list of (Persian Gulf) nations, beginning with Iraq (although the "War on Terror" officially began with Afghanistan) and (I'm fairly certain it included) finally ending with Iran.]

The money and valuables found in this one house alone, would be enough to pay for health insurance for every man woman and child in the USA for 12 years! It is estimated to be approximately 27 more of these houses in Mexico alone. Not to mention the ones in other countries who are enriching themselves in the drug trade. These people have so much money, they make the Arab oil sheiks look like welfare recipients. Their money can buy politicians, cops, judges, whatever they need they just throw down stacks of cash and it is theirs!

Guns, cash, exotic animals and art. -->  http://imgur.com/a/DYU2e

The amount of guns and cash (over $22 billion!) that the authorities found is staggering. All I can say is, "Wow! Just... Wow!"

UPDATE:

It was nowhere near 22 billion dollars; it was 207 million dollars.

Also, those pictures have been around since 2007. This is an old story.

658  Other / Politics & Society / Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yatsenyuk Declares War on Russia... Or did he? on: March 14, 2015, 03:16:39 AM
Well, that is what this article wants you to believe.

http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2015/03/ukraines-prime-minister-yatsenyuk-declares-war-russia.html

Quote
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who on 4 February 2014 was selected for his post by Victoria Nuland of the U.S. State Department, was quoted by Ukrainian media on Thursday March 12th of 2015 as saying that, “Ukraine is in a state of war with a nuclear state, which is the Russian Federation. Hostile countries over the past decade have spent billions of dollars rearming it.”

His quoted statement went on to blame Ukraine’s problems on Russia: “The country [Ukraine] is billions of dollars in debt, having been a corrupt and demoralized nation that has no gas in storage and no dollars to buy it. … [Russia] destroyed 20% of Ukraine’s economy, bombed the mines in the fighting, and produced a million displaced persons, who, as a result are forced to leave their homes.” [NOTE: Those bombs, some of which were firebombs, actually fell from Ukrainian Air Force planes, and were supplemented by Ukrainian Army missiles. The resident forces in the rebel area of the southeast that the Ukrainian Government is fighting against had no air force at all until recently, and very little even now. And, of course, any “rearming” of Russia is being done by Russia, not by “Hostile countries over the past decade.”]

The next day, March 13th, the same Ukrainian ‘news’ source headlined “Militants in the Donbass Are Professional Soldiers Led by the Army of the Russian Federation,” and ‘reported’ that, “Military units of illegal armed groups ‘DNR’ and ‘LC’ are formed on the organizational structure of Russian military units, and the main staff and command positions are appointed by the Russian officers. This was announced during a briefing for foreign journalists on the situation in the Donbas by Deputy Chief of Staff, Colonel Valentin Fedichev of the ATO [Anti Terrorist Operation].” [NOTE: On 29 January 2015, the Chief of Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said that, at least as of that moment in time, there were no Russian troops fighting against the Ukrainian Government’s forces, but only a few individual volunteers from Russia. There are likewise individual volunteers from several countries who are fighting for the Ukrainian Government. In addition, there are military advisors in the war from the U.S. and from Russia.]

On 7 January 2015, Yatsenyuk said in Germany:

“Russian aggression in Ukraine is an attack on world order and order in Europe. All of us still clearly remember the Soviet invasion of Ukraine and Germany. That has to be avoided. And nobody has the right to rewrite the results of the Second World War. And that is exactly what Russia’s President Putin is trying to do.”

[NOTE: There was no “Soviet invasioin of Ukraine and Germany.” Instead, Hitler’s German forces invaded both countries.]

NOTE: How the propaganda statements made by Yatsenyuk (and media) against Russia are in fact false and misleading.

Yet, you may also "note" that the above article is also making false and misleading statements about Yatsenyuk. According to THIS article, http://www.cbsnews.com/news/ukraine-prime-minister-russia-had-no-reason-to-invade/, Yatsenyuk did not in fact declare war against Russia. Instead what he actually said was, "This is not a threat: this is actually the declaration of war to my country". He went on to say, "If President Putin wants to be the president who started the war between two neighboring and friendly countries, between Ukraine and Russia, he has reached this target within a few inches. We are on the brink of disaster".

Regardless of which side you're on, there is definitely a lot of disinformation and deception coming from both (all) sides of this conflict. Undecided

whats really confusing me is that outside people who pretend to be girls ARE girls most of the time.
