641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you beleive in the concept of "Luck"? on: February 07, 2024, 10:45:36 PM
  • Do you believe in Luck? If so, how do you describe your perception of this concept?
  • How lucky do you think you are from 1 to 10?
  • Does your sense of luck in regular life correlate with your luck in gambling?
  • Do you believe that some special things or actions can increase your luck?

And do not hesitate to share any other thoughts about it. Let's discuss!
I believe so much in luck, some religious dogmas call it grace, while some other persons will describe a carrier of luck as being fortunate. But in whatever name they call it for you to enjoy it happening to you you also have a role to play to trigger it's effect on your life.

It is believed that whatever thing you believe in will always work out for you in the end, so yea, I think there's ought to be a correlation between our sense of luck in our regular life with what we get from our gambling. The only twist there is that the greed we often times harbour as gamblers most times affect what could have been a lucky win for us in some of our bets.

Just live your life normal, if you're lucky then you're lucky nothing changes or add to that.
642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 07, 2024, 09:49:31 AM
Have you ever sold a property to play gamble and afterwards finds it difficult to replace that same property again?
The story of a prodigal gambler!

Well, I can't remember selling any valuable property of mine to use the money for gamble and if in the future I should see myself doing that for any reason then it will be that I have started gravitating towards gambling addiction and will without hesitation retrace my footsteps against doing that for the purpose of gambling.

I could sell a property to support my business or to invest in shares or asset like bitcoin because these are things we are guaranteed of making progress in it and not for gambling that the hedge to make profit is in the hands of the house whereas I the gambler is highly dependent on luck to make a win for a profit to be made. Let's be guided in certain decision we are about to take please.
643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: February 07, 2024, 09:05:16 AM
Nigeria vs South Africa
Ivory Coast vs Congo

I predict it’ll be a Nigeria vs Ivory Coast final. I think that’s what neutrals want to see, t’d be a really entertaining final.
This AFCON is one of the most interesting AFCON competition with thrilling events and astounding eliminations of teams fans never thought would exit the competition at the stages they did.

The bafana bafana boys of South Africa are not an easy team to beat as they didn't find their way to this stage of the semifinals by a streaks of luck but team hard work and determination. If the Super Eagles of Nigeria fail to beat the South Africa team within the 90 minutes of the match allowing South Africa to force them into extra time leading to penalty kicks then I fear for the chance of Nigeria qualifying to the finals because the South Africa goalkeeper is one of the best if not the best penalty kick saver in this competition. And I think that's how the South Africa side will want this game to lead to but I hope Nigeria finds all means to avoid it.

As for Ivory coast vs Congo; I am giving it to the Congo not out of neutrality but favouritism towards them. Best of luck.
644  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: February 07, 2024, 08:31:00 AM
Who's in?!?!?
Am in only that my pot-belly won't let me all in  Grin  but walking for a hundred steps each morning isn't bad either.

something I admire about the challenge is that it's promotes a healthy well being in the context of health is wealth in the journey to financial freedom, more like saying BTC is health.

In my perspective of this trending challenge it is just to keep the momentum alive about the speculations of bitcoin price possibly hitting a $100k+ anytime this year or by 2025. I am optimistic that this is possible as the signs are getting more stronger than ever before we got to this stage.

645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling mistake repeated by the gamblers on: February 06, 2024, 09:45:50 PM
Op any gambler can fall for this as it's not just newbie gamblers that are susceptible to greed and overconfidence in gambling. What really causes over confidence among gamblers is their haven been on a lucky winning streaks for a lengthy time and when the losing steps in after so many wins they fail to accept that things have changed and they have to quit for a rest away from continuing with the bets. They get too confident that they can come back to winning ways immediately again. And most times this overconfidence is fueled by some atom of greed too.
646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 06, 2024, 09:13:54 AM
There are some humans that are not bothered or concerned about others order than themselves with what interest or amuses them. A warning advise has being given not to attend to a crowded place not just for his own but for the sake of other people but he chooses the so-called fun and entertainment he claims to derive over the health of other people when there is an alternative for him to gamble online.

It is for concerns as this that I am very careful with the type of places I go for my on land gambling. I make sure to observe the quality and character of people that do make use of that very bet shop/house and the ventilation rate. While we gamble we should make sure to priotize our wellbeing based on where we go to carry out our gambling activity.

A word of advise, as a gambler and you know you are not feeling well, for the sake of you and others be humane enough to stay home and get sufficient medication for yourself, for when you're well gambling can still go on. Health is wealth.

...and the buy and sell prices are both 0...

Yes, same here, it'll get sorted..

I have the same issue. Yesterday I wanted to buy some FUN tokens but it shows all zeros. It is the same today, I hope they will solve it soon...

Dang, after some long time of crazy luck gambling, I finally lose quite a bit on the wagering. Happened during the Bonanza period just before the weekend too lol

No complaints, lesson to be learnt as usual, you always go big and then it bites you back, but I have a lot of hope for the GTs, 3k+ tickets and counting, it's never been this high before and just 60+ days to go Smiley

That's the thing with wagering, it's always crazy gambling with a lot of ups & downs, taking huge risks in short period of time, and chances for busting the bankroll (or big part of it) is always in the air. One of the reasons I don't participate in daily/weekly wagering wars anymore, the same lesson was learned too many times.

Well, 3k GT's is a lot of tickets! It's time for that awesome prize to come into the hands of someone from this forum. I am cheering for you!
Cheering for him indeed mate. I just for once envy his hope and determination not to back down yet and for what is worth it he's wagering within his affordable means even as he keeps trying his luck and that's why he finds the ups and down of it all as lesson learnt unlike some gamblers who will want to go out of their way in greed wagering an amount they can't afford to lose.

Sending some good luck!

649  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The cause of inflation on: February 06, 2024, 05:06:14 AM
The cause of the inflation is nothing but as a result of printing money that is naira is losing value constantly everyday. The economy has never been bad like this, we are facing the consequences of wrong economy doings.
Hey man, don't basically attribute the drastic fall in the value of the Naira to the printing of money by past administration, there has been the printing of more money over and over again by each administration the comes into power yet the Naira has never fell this down in value to the dollar.

In 2006/7 the Umaru Musa Yaradua/Goodluck Jonathan's administration printed more money into the economy (that was how we got the polymer notes we're using today and others) but never did the Naira fell so badly in rate to the dollar because the administrators as at that time had a working economic plan that was put in place as a government and it all was yielding results on the economy of the country that every citizen felt the positive impact of it in the process of foodstuffs, petrol price, and at that time dollar was around one hundred and something naira.

But right from the end of 2015, starting from 2016 the government that has set in to power has been government's that's without economic blueprints plan to show for, it has rather been an issue of many failed promises, trial and error policies, spontaneous decision making culture that has shown little or no positive impact on the economy. It's all been a rate race movement since then, as we are basically a consuming nation than a productive economy which is why the country currency will keep falling down in value against the currency of those other producing countries of the world. So it's not basically about printing of the Naira that has caused the fall in value this badly.
650  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 05, 2024, 02:49:56 PM
As a new investor I can say that if you want to hold bitcoins, you should hold bitcoin in DCA method.

As a new investor I don't think it requires much knowledge.
(Though the saying goes that knowledge is king)
But once you go to the market, you can learn all kinds of things by yourself.
In any field you want to get into for you to thrive as a newbie you have to brush yourself with as much knowledge as possible about such field before diving all in, especially in the basics of such field which bitcoin investment is not an exception. Before start you have to be knowledgeable about things like  the investment strategy of your interest, risk management, market sentiments/psychology and with an investment plan (mainly a long term duration holding plan).

It is best to learn (equip yourself) before going into the market, instead of hoping to learning everything or the most important things about the market while in the market.

DCA is a good strategy for holding Bitcoin.DCA means buying and holding a fixed amount of bitcoins every week or every month. You invest 1/3 of your income over a period of time. You cannot hold on to your entire income or invest too much at once. At any one of your perils you feel like withdrawing this full amount.Which will go against your dream of holding bitcoin.
Yes, you're correct DCA is a good investment strategy for mostly to the benefit of low income earners who can't afford to big bitcoin in large quantity within a short time if they can maximize it under a well constructed plan in relation to their weekly or monthly income flow by devoting a certain percentage they are comfortable with  for DCAing.

There is an expression that it likely pretty close to being true, and that is that the best time to enter bitcoin was yesterday, and the second best time to enter bitcoin is today.
i kind of like the mentality that the statement "the best time to enter bitcoin was yesterday and the second best time to enter bitcoin is today" brings to every bitcoin holder that procrastinate ever buying Bitcoin or the person that is asking on the right time to buy the DIP. The best time to buy is never tomorrow regardless of the speculation on how low the price of bitcoin might drop in the future, if you can't buy it now, their is no certainty that you will be able to buy it tomorrow.
Some of us today that are enjoying the benefits of bitcoin today never bought it the day before yesterday but because of the knowledge we later grew about bitcoin that got us to cease from further procrastinating and started investing in BTC without minding or considering  the current price of that very time and today profits has been made from that decision of yesterday.

For it is same opportunity today as it were for those of us that bought and started investing from yesterday, and if they can stop from procrastinating further and start investing today not waiting for price to fall dipper before taking action to invest they will have themself to thank for taking action today.

What I think that makes some persons to continually procrastinate in their decision to invest in bitcoin is due to the lack of the right knowledge because just looking at the historical events of bitcoin price right from day one till date you can see from it that we're still in the right position to come into the market to invest. You can have the knowledge but if it's not the right knowledge you can't know how and when to make the right decisions. it's as simple as that.
651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pay off DEBT by do Gambling? think again before you loss more on: February 05, 2024, 09:04:56 AM
His mistake is panic gambling. A gambler is not supposed to rush into staking money, without having a backup. Spending all his funds at a go is not proper, he's meant to reconsider his chances of winning. I've read of men who did spend their last card and were able to double it through gambling. But it's not same for everybody. Since we all have unique strategies of gambling, it wouldn't be nice to hope on gambling to solve our financial trouble. The gambler may end up causing himself more harm than good, as his results could be unsuccessful. That doesn't mean the guy in the picture wasn't responsible at some point, he only faced a real-life challenge which landed him into a bigger trouble. So, even if one is a responsible gambler, he could find himself in a state of mind where he wouldn't be able to control his choices and decisions anymore. Thereby leading him to a very hard life condition.
It's a very simple logic that gamble is not a reliable means to fall on to in resolving our immediate financial responsibility at hand, more often we have learned about the stories of people that got their problem compounded by using part of the money they had because it was not sufficient in solving or meeting the challenge they are facing but only to lose it all going back to zero default.

Sometimes these decisions are not motivated by addiction but mainly by the zeal for instant money making means of which gambling is fashioned to have such an outlook but in the end it's usually the opposite results that is being experienced by the victims. Maybe under such condition if only the individual could sit down to analyze the weight of the consequence that may befall him if he loses the part of the money he has in possession in solving his problem to losing it all, just maybe they will think of considering another better alternative than to gamble with the insufficient amount they have already.
652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Management on: February 05, 2024, 08:29:22 AM
You use an $$ amount to place a bet and luckily make an $$ amount of win and if you feel like continuing to gambling even after that win which for some gamblers like me will prefer going home calling it a day. But for you who insist on continuing to gamble, why not take out an $$ amount from the profit made from the win and go ahead with another bet but peradventure you lose it, taking a bow with both the capital and the other remaining $$ profit with you and walk away.

By so doing you are not leaving as a loser but with your capital and some profits not minding how little the profit might be it's more honorable and better than to leave as a loser which ultimately you won't be running out of funds anymore.
653  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Operation Rescue Naira on: February 05, 2024, 07:47:18 AM
Let me come in through the front door on this with an explicit question assuming am talking to the minister of finance: How does this move reduce the daily increasing cost of livelihood like rice, beans, yam, transportation, garri, fuel, etc?

Do the FGN want to tell me that there are no Americans who have foreign accounts in euro currency living in the US? Why hasn't the government of the US come up to say it's due to holdings in foreign currency accounts that has been the reason for a dwindling effect on the value of the dollar to the euro. Rather their government is always hitting the ground running making sure all sectors are absolutely functioning optimally.

In essence what am saying is that no amount of pushing the blames on the citizens will bring to fruition the value of the Naira because from where I stand this move by the Nigeria government in forcefully converting domiciliary accounts to Naira immediately the currency is credit into the account is an act of coercion and intimidation on the citizens who are even in the face of hardship in the country are still finding means to legitimate sources of income to build their finance yet the government has bend on making life a living hell for them through irrational unproductive policies.

It is for this attitude about centralized authority that we are encouraged to move to a fully decentralized financial system of holding our finance and BTC is the alternative solution to it. Maybe this is an opportunity for you out there to talk to someone about holding his money investing it in bitcoin to save himself and the value of his money from this pro inflationary action of the FGN concerning their domiciliary accounts.

As for the solution to Nigeria's Naira devaluation problem it is found in the revamping of the agricultural sectors robustly nationwide, renovation of our refineries to fully functioning, and the restructuring of Nigeria.
654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a generous gamblers on: February 04, 2024, 05:43:34 PM
One of his friends asked him why he kept betting instead of saving so he would have something when he needed it.

His answer was straightforward, I am betting so when I win I can share half of my winnings with my friends and relatives who need money like you.
I think he's smart enough to see gambling as a way to multiply his pension pay that wouldn't have been sufficient to go round if he's to be generous directly with it. However, it is pertinent to say this, it may not work out favourably to every person.

How about you? Are you generous and if so, why are you generous?
Just like you said, he is a pensioner with already grown up children which means those his children have reach the age of taking care of their responsibility and challenges otherwise he won't be using such money to such a generous extension to outsiders even though it was gotten from a gambling win.

Am a generous person by nature but in being generous there a thin line of rationality that should guide your generosity. Don't go being generous with money you need to pay house rent or water bill when it's already due, that will be foolish and unrecommended to me.
655  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Trading BTC on: February 04, 2024, 05:18:01 PM
Abeg make we try dey careful with who we dey trade BTC with, dey careful with who you dey sell am to especially when the person dey transfer money come your account, most especially the binance p2p just pray say the person no dey pay you with stolen naira (money laundering). EFCC No go gree for you oh. You go explain tire.. Na so last December my friend fall victim. Na one of the downside of lifting this crypto ban by Nigerian government.
This is mainly some of the downsides am avoiding that makes me not to do p2p trading with any trader who is asking to pay with a different name from the name he registered with on the exchange platform. Immediately I see that in your conditions of making payment third party name is involved as the payer I will immediately ignore and move to the next serious trader in the queue.

We know the kind country we come from and how certain things wey even clearly they right for police eyes them go still want run man black just to get money from the matter. Prevention to me is better than cure, so instead of me to come the do plenty explanations make I dey proactive with avoiding stories that touch.
656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: February 04, 2024, 05:01:29 PM
A situation where the stake for the bet he won was $1k, the next statement you hear is how wish I knew I would have staked with $5k. The question is, the $5k is it an amount of money that you can be comfortable losing or it's just out of greed that you are not contented with the win amount the $1k gave you.
It is only greed that will make someone to play game with $1k and after wining he started thinking is why he didn't play with $5k. The truth is that when people win they think why they didn't play with a higher amount but when dey loose they become excited and happy because they didn't play the game according to how they wanted , otherwise they could have loss. But I sudjest wether you win big or small there is a need to always maintain playing gamble with what you can afford to lose.
Greed is an enemy to any profit seeker in any line of business and not just in gambling alone do gamblers experience greed emanating in their gambling decisions which is logical to say that any gambler that has been able to control or conquer his greed and feel contented with every amount of win he makes from his bet such a dude has invariably conquered his losing streaks rate. Luck to repeat a win instantly after another win has just been gotten is very hard to happen to a gambler but as greed sets in the mind of the gambler all reality to be considered that he can lose it all get submerged by that greed not until all is lost.
657  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: February 04, 2024, 04:59:54 AM

So as much as the days progresses and the managers of the altcointalk perceives the increased in traffic they have recently started receiving as those ban services have now found their way to altcoinstalk thereby attracting bitcointalk members who before now had no interest there teleporting their accounts there now. With this it shouldn't be a thing of surprise if we start observing certain little changes in the teleport process as the days go by and their traffic keeps growing from different angles.

The admin of Altcoinstalk, based on their rules, does not want any drama or anything of the sort. Therefore, I wonder if those members who caused a lot of drama here will be interested in transitioning over there. They might find themselves being constrained and restricted. It's a different platform for them, not their usual playground.
Can you please come out plainly with what you really referring to as the drama's because from what I have seen about those members teleporting over to the altcoinstalk forum these are members that have made respectful name and repute here in bitcointalk and am sure the admin of  altcointalk will be more than glad to have such members in their community to improve discussions.

Maybe I don't know, but I guess the drama you could be referring about is that of the banters and small exchange of talks between contradictory members that may have issues and decides to iron it out mostly in the reputation board, then mate you might be missing on the real deal because it's some of those kind of dramas that makes the forum colourful and lively.

Or except you are talking about something else I don't know. Huh
658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you invest on this kind of offer? on: February 03, 2024, 12:08:58 PM
Wait! Did I understand the op very well. Like he wants me or us to risk our own funds for his gambling activity while he safe keep his own coins in a safe air gap wallet or timelock, and on top of thia bullshit I won't get an interest added to my fund am giving out to him inform of a loan just because he promised to pay back even if he gets to lose it as he gambles with it. Wow! Roll Eyes And you refer to this as an offer? Hell no, I won't consider it any day.

No matter how you want to explain this it's no different from borrowing money to gamble which is something I abhor with all sincerity you are going to be making a debt-roll and not a bankroll because gambling risk  has nothing to do with professional skill if you're not so lucky in getting a win.
659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: February 03, 2024, 11:46:46 AM

 Source: https://www.premierleague.com/matchweek/12291/blog
It's a good news for Manchester City fans as Erling Haaland is fit, ready and fully back to the team, and according to coach Gardiola it is not just Haaland but also Akanji  and everyone in the City's team is fit for the games ahead. On Monday Manchester City will be meeting Brentford in their home and with the confident level of Gardiola about his boys I can only start to imagine what the scores will be like against Brentford who are an average team to City with a very low percentage in terms of finding a win in their favour come next week Monday 05/02/2024.

On the other hand Liverpool a strong opposition to Manchester City in the race for the EPL title this season who happens to be at the top of the table currently are facing a bad time with some of their best player suffering some minor injuries that may make them miss a number of one or more games especially their next game against Arsenal this weekend Nunez and Sallah are rumored to be absent due to injuries.  What does this make for their main opposition Manchester City should Liverpool lose to Arsenal in their next game and drop points owing to the absence of their key players to injury.
This is really going to be a tough match between Arsenal and Liverpool as they take on reach other in a clash that will define the edge to the tittle race.Liverpool are ahead of Arsenal now,and even if they should lose to Arsenal, they will still be leading the gunners, but one thing is that it might hamper their moral moving forward,as their moral will be dwindled by the lose.In the other hand,Arsenal really need this win against Liverpool to keep them alive in the tittle race should incase Liverpool and Mancity fumbles.
If Liverpool should be able to defend Arsenal to a draw,or they should be able to win Arsenal, then I can give them the tittle for this season.
Based on how you have analysed about Liverpool should they be able to win Arsenal this weekend then they could have better chance of winning the EPL title. I think I should remind you that the EPL season has 38 matches to be played by each team, and almost all the teams including Arsenal and Liverpool had played 22 games already whereas Manchester City has played just 21 games which mean they have 1 outstanding match (outstanding 3 points).

Liverpool are currently with 51 points while their major rival Manchester City who are in second position on the table are with 46 points so invariably with City's outstanding match Liverpool are just 2 points ahead of Manchester City (and not actually 5 points) which is not much of a points distance that someone should settle on to confidently handover the EPL title to Liverpool when about 16 games are yet to be played.

Knowing fully the capacity and ability of Manchester City under Pep Gardiola to  been capable of overtaking their opponents in the league with any slight opportunity that may arise to their advantage, for now I won't agree that Liverpool will be winning the EPL title this season because for me the title race is still open for any of the current top four teams (Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham)  currently on the table as the points margin are not significantly much. Let just keep watch with an open mind for now as there are still more games to be played till the month of May.
660  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The 4W every newbie should know, so as to navigate your way easily on: February 03, 2024, 08:16:39 AM
My country people good morning inside this morning, I know say most of us already know this tins but newbie dy sign up for this our naija local board on a daily basis, so I just have to update them how dem fit do things in the crypto industry without troubles.

The 4W of Bitcoin is;
*What
*Why
*When
*Where

* what : In the crypto space, what do you buy? What do you invest in? The only coin to buy and invest in is Bitcoin.

* Why: why you should have a source of income, it's very important that you have a source of income, so that when issue like feeding and rent is at your neck you would not go and temper with your Bitcoin holdings.

* When: when to buy; there is no better time of buying Bitcoin than now, see, we are still in it early days, and the best way to buy is through the DCA method, where you buy it bit by bit, monthly, weekly or daily.

*where:where should it be kept? It's best that we keep it in a self custodian wallet, where the safety of your coin will be in your hands, and the secret phase stored offline.
I agree with you that the bitcoin is one only reliable coin to invest in come rain come shine with all the market intricacies you will be rest assured that with each fall in price there will be a lifting up with time and that's why I tell many people newbie particularly to always make their investment plan in bitcoin a long term plan of about 2-4 years upwards because those that usually get disappointed are those investors that jump in with a very short time plan in mind to take profit which obviously that's not how bitcoin works unlike those rug pull fast pump and dump altcoins out there in the crypto market.

Having a reliable and steady income flow no matter how little the amount is very important to the success of a long term plan of any bitcoin investor. Which is why nobody should joke with whatever means they are using to get income either monthly or weekly as the case may be. I have seen a post in this forum with the poster inquiring if he/she should quit his job because he/she has started investing in bitcoin and had made some profits. That's wrong a thing to do. Like how do you keep increasing your portfolio if you don't have another source of income and how do you manage your responsibility in a long bear market period when you're not making profits. So it's important to have a means of income even as we invest in bitcoin.

Definitely there is no better time to buy bitcoin than now, and even as we invest we should endeavor to invest wisely and with a strategy. And what's most challenging in the ownership of bitcoin is the storage aspect, if you store your bitcoin in the wrong places you can end up losing it all either to scam or collapse in the case of CEX, that's why it's appropriate we store our coins in reputable non-custodial wallets. One of many wallet I usually recommend to newbies is the electrum wallet due to how simplified it is to use as per newbie friendly features that are easy to grasp.

What is Electrum?
