641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less than 24 hours to Bitcoin halving and my Birthday! on: April 18, 2024, 02:05:47 PM
Well, actually, halving countdown shows that halving is more than 24 hours away. The op's link indeed doesn't work, and Nicehash link, provided by Poker Player, says that halving is in 1 day and 23 hours. Another website says it's 1 day and 16 hours away, so the estimates vary. If it's op's first halving, it can be pretty exciting. As for me, it's my third one, I believe, so it's just the end of a cycle and a start of a new one. It won't have any direct impact on the price, nothing magical will happen around April 20. Perhaps we should actually think of making halving a Bitcoin holiday, sort of like people celebrate the New Year, but for now, that's not the case.
From all the sources of when Bitcoin halving will start in this thread ,what all of them have in common is that it'll begin before the next 48 hours, and we're all looking forward to it, this will be my first experience and I'm quite excited to see how it'll affect price.

I wish the OP a happy birthday, whether it coincides with the start of halving or not, at least it's happening when the halving is set to start.
642  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin’s bull run coming to an end? on: April 18, 2024, 12:22:25 PM
I don't think that Bitcoin bull run is coming to an end because from research price dips happens before halving, so I guess that this is what is playing out now, plus this negative impact of Iran, israeli conflict news that's also affecting the price negatively. This is an opportunity for investors to take this dip opening to accumulate more, no need to wait till it dips lower because that might not happen, if you're on DCA method, just continue with it and focus on the long term gains, when price will start to rapidly increase in the bull run that has not yet started.
643  Economy / Speculation / Re: Satoshi forces the price of bitcoin to continue to rise over time on: April 18, 2024, 11:05:03 AM
Satoshi Nakamoto, created Bitcoin and disappeared from the scene, I don't think that he has any manipulative influence about what the Bitcoin price will be at anytime, therefore there's no way he could force the price to continue increasing after every halving. The driving force behind Bitcoin price increase after every halving is the forces of supply and demand, and also adoption, if the awareness and adoption of Bitcoin is not increasing and the asset is not in high demand, then there's nothing that halving can do about it. Bitcoin price is increasing geometrically and in high demand because everyday more people are seeing it as a reputable crypto and a store of value.
644  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anxiety in trading (heart disease) on: April 18, 2024, 09:38:29 AM
Trading is like gambling, although it's more organized because a trader has to learn trading skills, unlike casinos and bets that're more of guess works, nevertheless, despite the knowledge of fundamental and technical analysis, they can still lose. So trading is work that you enter and you don't know the outcome, whether you're going to profit or lose your hard earned money. I believe that this takes out a lot from traders anything they want to enter the market, anxiety and worries can develop into high BP which can lead to other more serious heart related illnesses. Trading is hard and traders should use money that they can afford to loose, also they need another source of income.
645  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jill Biden is a Skanky WHORE on: April 18, 2024, 08:43:48 AM
Yes, you read that correctly.
Jill Biden is a Skanky, ugly-ass, filthy WHORE.

We already know that Joe Biden is a cowardly traitor, and now we find out he is married to a Whore.
Does he have no shame with his Bitch Ass?
I wish you'd have given us some insights into your claims, perhaps a link that trows more light to your opinion, because as much as you don't like Joe Biden, there are others that thinks differently about him. Anyway this is an election year in the US, and it's obvious that you're supporting Donald Trump, who is clearly your brave candidate to succeed Biden, whom you consider a coward, the election day will determine if majority of Americans holds your view about Joe Biden, or not.
646  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do not forget your Bitcointalk account password!!! on: April 18, 2024, 08:13:22 AM

So tell me if you have had such experience of not being able to login to your Bitcointalk forum account due to password issues, and how did you feel about it. Let's discuss.
Securing passwords is one of the most important aspects of the crypto space, because as far as I know there's no central office that can help you to recover it, so the security of your gaining accesses is in your hands. The importance of securing your wallets seed phrase, bitcointalk passwords and email passwords can not be overemphasized, because if you lose them, that can be a permanent lose.

My personal experience was when my smart phone that I used to access the forum was stolen, I remember my forum account password but i didn't remember the password of the email that I specially created for this forum. Anyways when got the Bitcointalk Link to access the forum, I was very relieved when I was given an option to us my other email address, I accepted and could log in through chrome.
647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Introduction to Crypto Airdrops on: April 18, 2024, 07:02:07 AM
This is a good website for anyone to farm airdrops. I visited your website and found a lot of interesting airdrops in the pipeline. They way they have been listed is impressive and is interesting as I did saw the free ones. Thanks for sharing it in the forum as it was becoming a hassle to track all airdrops.
This is indeed a noble project that can reduce the hassle of tracking airdrops, which is normally a huge task to perform, I'm happy about it, just like every member that has applauded the OP. I hope that he keeps it up, because it's a job to be researching airdrops that'll be worth it, especially for those that he won't get any rewards for his efforts, and I also hope that he keeps the reputation going.

649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Opinion: Embracing Bitcoin Satoshis for Everyday Transactions on: April 17, 2024, 02:01:51 PM
The fact is that Bitcoin cannot replace fiat currencies, it can only serve  as an alternative to them, because fiat currencies are one of the trademarks of countries so Bitcoin cannot serve as a global currency. As some members have noted in this thread, the use of Satoshi, in Bitcoin transactions has always been there, you can only buy luxury items with one Bitcoin or more, most people that use Bitcoin for payments and investments are in sats. From my research, there are some factors that will discourage the use of Bitcoin for transaction payments, high transaction fees for low cost items, low adoption, risks of scams in transactions, bans in some countries and many businesses don't accept it. Perhaps when the adoption of Bitcoin increases when almost everybody will have a wallet address, then the usage will increase.
650  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial Advice for a young millionaire on: April 17, 2024, 01:00:21 PM
The boy is the only child of the widower and does not seem to be interested in the same line of business and even when he does, he requires more maturity to be able to manage the business such as graduating from the college, etc.

I would advise him to be careful with who he trusts. Because nothing attracts more bad people than a huge lump of money.

Many will try to take it off of his hands but he should remember that even at a young age he can learn how to be better at handling his finances. No matter how immature he is right now he needs to step up and start making appropriate choices.
The biggest challenge he'll face is making the right decision and getting advice from others, a wrong decision can pull him down from grace to grass and the wrong advice can crumble the business. It'll be more difficult for him to make good business decisions if he wasn't close to his late father, business wise when he was alive, what he can do is gather business advice from different sources, dissect them and make his decision from the list. Being knowledgeable about the advantages of Bitcoin investment, all advice him to diversify and invest some of his funds into Bitcoin, for long term profit.
651  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell? on: April 17, 2024, 12:28:33 PM
This is the problem people have. They will not not want to buy when the price is low but later want to buy when the price is high. The safest coin to buy right now is bitcoin. If you buy it, it is better not to be checking your wallet balance in dollars. Just leave the coin and be expecting bitcoin to get to $100000. Because the price is falling, some people will panic and sell just like what happened yesterday. Do not do that. Do not sell if you buy even now.
Okay, relatable.
So it's buy and hold then.
Definitely buy and hodle, we're just entering bull run so it's still very premature to be talking about selling, because price will definitely surge and every Bitcoin holder will get massive ROI in the peak of the bull run. This Bitcoin price dip that we're experiencing now is a very good opportunity to continue buying, the lower it goes the better for holders that wants to accumulate, because after the halving, gradually price will start to be steadily increasing, don't join those that'll panic and sale in this dip
652  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Governments projecting war and having lives of the innocents at stake on: April 17, 2024, 11:44:08 AM
I read yesterday where Israeli civilians were protesting in a riot that their prime minister Benjamin Natenyahu, should resign from office, because he has failed to secure the release of their citizens who are still held hostage by Hamas, they believe that he's going ahead in the war without any regards for the lives of the hostages. Some of these world leaders who engage their countries in wars might not have the interests of their citizens before planing a war, because them and their immediate families will be flown to safety if the war hits up, then the rest of their citizens will be the ones to suffer. Although I must confess that sometimes wars can become inevitable if another country trespasses into their territories, a country will be compelled to respond to such threats, which will my earn war.
653  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Educative help needed on: April 17, 2024, 11:00:22 AM

654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin halving, historical price surges to follow? on: April 17, 2024, 10:10:14 AM
What’s really crazy is that we saw bitcoin reach a new ath even before the actual halving take place which from what I know has never happened before.

So if bitcoin is reaching new records then who is to say what can happen post halving? We are definitely in for a good time Grin we just need to acquire as much bitcoin possible and never let fud get into our way of holding.
This bull run is definitely going to be a massive one, because between the last halving and now, Bitcoin adoption has increased and the ETF has also added more investors and awareness to it, although the OP $500k price prediction is an exaggeration, I however think that we'll see an ATH of around $200k in the peak of the season. The price dip that we're experiencing now should be a blessing in disguise for those that are buying for the bull run, because the more that price dips, the greater their ROI when price starts to surge after halving.
655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Israel vs Iran - Will this limit the coming bull run? on: April 16, 2024, 04:04:07 PM
Personally I don’t think so.

Firstly, I don’t think the attack of iran to israel primarily caused the drop in bitcoin. Though I do see how a lot of people can think that way. Unless we see a full blown war break out I don’t think the bitcoin price will be heavily affected.
Bitcoin price has started to dip before the Iranian attack on Israel, although the news might have dippened the price, but the point is that the attack didn't start it. If the conflict leads to a full blown war, which I don't wish, I think that it will affect Bitcoin price negatively in this bull run, whereby we can experience more dip, but just like other global news will affect it, it'll be temporary, price will correct itself and the bull trend will continue.
656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will increasing banking restrictions lead to a rise in P2P transactions? on: April 16, 2024, 02:44:23 PM

Most of people will choose convenience than privacy and if it is not mandatory, no other choices available, they will choose things that can bring convenience, not privacy. I don't expect banking restrictions will increase P2P transactions too much.
It is a fact that people will rather go for convenient transactions on centralized exchanges where they'll have to provide KYC, instead of p2p transactions where their privacy is kept from centralized authorities like their governments. So bank restrictions will only make the exchanges services to become more sought after and they'll become richer because they minimize crypto transaction scams, which is on the increase. I personally don't mind doing p2p transactions, but you'll only feel comfortable when it's with a trusted person, it's very risky to do p2p transactions with a person that is not familiar with you, because if you send your Bitcoin, then the person doesn't send fiat into your bank account, there's really no way of tracking the owner of the wallet address.
657  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: E no resemble local board. on: April 16, 2024, 12:51:30 PM
Personally I reason say writing in pidgin English, for make dis our local board to de very unique and wen oda nationals visit di board, dem go get di flow say truly na dis style of English de popular for naija, infact you go surprise say more people go de visit our board to de feel our flows. Wen I join dis forum new, I experience different debates for dis board about weda to de make posts for normal English or pidgin English, in the end na to use either of dem na im carry di day, and since den every member de use di one wey im de take flow pass.

I for prefer say make more posts dey de for pidgin English, but reverse na di case as e show for di OP, more posts de appear for normal English, so we need to accept am like dat. Aldo instead of say make person wey no sabi write for pidgin English to de goof for I'm post, e de better say make im post for normal English, because some of our people no sabi how to write fluent pidgin English.
658  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I sent BTC to the wrong wallet address on: April 16, 2024, 11:21:34 AM
-snip- this is my first time of seeing anything like it, and I'll like to learn about it. I'll be very grateful if you can share a link on how to learn and understand these technical calculations, thanks.
Sure thing.
About the "checksum" specifically, read this article: learnmeabitcoin.com/technical/keys/checksum/

For other technical guides, click that site's technical link on the left side and you'll see a comprehensive list of inner workings of Bitcoin.
But if there's something that is too much for your current knowledge, you can always cross-refer it to the Beginners counterpart of the topic, use search or the links on the left side.
Thanks for the swift response, I've browsed through the site, and grasped a few things from the first glance, but it's not enough, I really need to dedicate more time to actually learn how to apply the technicalities of checksum.

Bitcoin knowledge definitely goes beyond buy hodl and sale, there's so much more technicalities and terminologies that are involved, thanks for adding this feather to my cap.
659  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I found the meme coins SEC they review projects before it will get posted on: April 16, 2024, 09:58:26 AM
Meme coins and SEC in the same sentence?
Do you even have any idea what SEC is?

I just checked the telegram group, and it's just a bunch of folks shilling their shitcoins. Nothing specially. Some of them don't even have any locked liquidity. 98% possible rug pulls and they call them safe?
Hell no, I will stick to my personal analysis tools and gut rather than rely on a stranger telling me what is safe and what is not.
It's ok for this group to give their rating of memecoins, but the important thing is for every investor not to accept their meme ratings as 100% correct, let them carry out further research before investing their hard earned money, because if the project turns out to be a shitcoin, I doubt that you're going to sue the group for misleading information. As you noted, they might be individuals who are shilling projects that they're involved in, hoping to give it ratings in their group and attract investors to them, not a bad strategy, this is why I believe that every body needs to learn how to carry out their own research on any crypto that they're interested in.
660  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I sent BTC to the wrong wallet address on: April 16, 2024, 07:52:24 AM

Some technical explanations:
  • Address 1L1UduuGPZ8ttGe59F2w9tTEumQFhtxiuT, base58 decoded, separated the last 4Bytes checksum: 00d08175a8f7d52324279706dae9d132e17a1bfce8  8c7b316e
  • The first 4-Bytes of the SHA256x2 hash of the above's left part should be equal to the right part (checksum): 8c7b316e.
  • So let's get: SHA256[SHA256(00d08175a8f7d52324279706dae9d132e17a1bfce8)]: 8c7b316c28e25f67a1b027243d1b9558c15a7efb10e8e283c2ce9e12f89f794a
  • The first 4-Bytes of the above are: 8c7b316c which isn't equal to 8c7b316e.
  • With that, the address is invalid.

It's been proven beyond reasonable doubt by experienced forum members like you that the OP is a scammer, who obviously didn't know that we have extremely knowledgeable crypto geniuses who can detect a scam from milles. I wouldn't dwell on the OP bursted plans but on these technical explanations that you have outlined, this is my first time of seeing anything like it, and I'll like to learn about it. I'll be very grateful if you can share a link on how to learn and understand these technical calculations, thanks.
