641  Economy / Economics / Re: What percentage of people on Earth will own Bitcoin by 2020 on: November 27, 2016, 02:18:29 PM
I said 2-5% and even that is a stretch imho. That's still what, 140-350million people? (Assuming 7billion people wordwide). That's way more than we have now (again, assuming. It's hard to tell how many bitcoins users there really are) so there would have to be a huge influx of people starting to use bitcoins.

If there are 300 Mn people owning bitcoin, each one on an average will have less than 0.1 bitcoin. You can imagine what that will do to the price. That will be a moon shot. I don't think that will happen as soon as 2020.

It could be total crash as Indian batting lineup just lurked at around 150 runs. I don't have idea what to say it is India which is lucky to successfully avoid that collapse or England again remained unlucky for missing that opportunity. India will not repeat that mistake anymore. In coming innings match will bring real twist and interest for sure.

Ashwin has rescued the Indian batting and ensured that they will get a lead. In spite of bowling England out for an under-par score, India are not in a winning position. It will be crucial to see how many runs Ashwin and Jadeja are able to put together tomorrow.
Ashwin is turning out to be a real good all rounder.
643  Economy / Speculation / Re: There is no reason for small price changes, Stop looking! on: November 27, 2016, 04:44:17 AM
Well if you are into day-trading these small changes are what will make you money. Every bit of info is somehow important IMO.

Day trading is a recipe to lose money, if you don't trace the market closely. You might make pennies for a few days, but if a huge move catches you off guard, all your earnings can be wiped out.
644  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC is overheated. I OPENED SHORT postition on: November 26, 2016, 03:41:31 AM
Added some more shorts.

BULL trend IS OVER. Mark my words.

You keep adding more shorts, when Bitcoin looks like it is going to break out.
When do you plan on closing them? Once they bankrupt you?  Smiley
645  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term OIL on: November 26, 2016, 03:38:02 AM
Right now, there is a fierce competition ongoing between Saudi Arabia and Russia for the market share. The Saudis tried to hijack the acquisition of Essar Oil by Rosneft, by offering a better deal. But it was foiled by Rosneft, who sweetened the offer. They don't care about the prices anymore. It is all about the market share now.

They drove the price low enough to make sure that shale oil from America doesn't eat into their market share. Now they are fighting hard for market share with Russia. Good to see a free market at last, after years of price manipulation by the OPEC cartel.

What a great innings so far from Khawaja 138 not out and he looks very good at the crease. He now just needs the tail to stay with him and Australia can easily get a 150+ lead as they already lead by 48 runs. Too bad he ran out Smith as both looked good and were playing easily before that run out. Australia will be hoping to bat as long as they can as they would want South Africa to be batting at night where the ball starts to play tricks on the batsman. Like I mentioned in a previous post Australia would be very hard to beat before the match because they already have some experience playing a day/night test match where as South Africa have so it was going to be tough for them to win and also Australia doesn't want to loose the series 3-0 which will be the first ever time in Australia. So Australia has more to play for in my opinion and they are showing it in this test match.

Australia already have a 50 run lead and they will be looking to score some quick runs here. The best that South Africa can hope for is a draw from here. That also looks difficult, since there is a lot of time left in this match. South Africa will have to play really well in the second innings to save this match.
647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: November 20, 2016, 04:42:22 AM
New Zealand vs Pakistan. I think team Pakistan not have god batsmen as like they lost wickets so quickly they ruined the hard work of bowlers which give them chance to make comeback. But it looking tomorrow New Zealand will win this comfortably.
Pakistani batsmen was playing on dead pitches in UAE now in New Land they are on typical balance pitches so its very big difference for them and they are here without any practice match they have no too many practice matches like England hope they will give some resistance in second match

New Zealand have smashed Pakistan by 8 wickets. It was on expected lines, after Pakistan's collapse in the second innings. A target of 108 was never going to challenge New Zealand. Congratulations to all those who got it right.  Smiley
648  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whos pumping bitcoin now? on: November 20, 2016, 04:38:47 AM
No one is pumping Bitcoin

It is called natural growth and economic situation that is favorable to Bitcoin investments.

I see no sign of a pump right now
yes I agree with you. This is a natural occurrence that happens because of the greater demand for bitcoin. current users of bitcoin is growing rapidly and is also outstanding. an increase that occurred at this time purely because bitcoin is getting better.

When you talk of 20% growth in a couple of months, people suspect it is getting pumped. In this case, I think the negatives associated with the bitfinex hack now are considered non-material. This has resulted in the price recovering.
649  Economy / Economics / Re: What effect did the Trump's (unexpected) victory on BTC? on: November 20, 2016, 04:35:44 AM
The new economical attitude of the new president and  interest rate will affect the number of people who will invest in BTC this year.

Well, for a long time the gold was accepted as the safe heaven during chaotic times. However, the gold is losing its place to BTC.This is mainly the easiness of transfer and keeping.Everything seems positive for BTC in near future however have we missed the big picture? What if there is a problem between USA and China?Well, new American origined pools will appear suddenly, so 'the force awakens'.Will the american pools will satisfy Trump or will he order a new digital currency controlled by USA goverment directly. If he does decide to the so, can USA centered new currency take the place of decentralized BTC?

If Trump's victory is bad for international trade, it is bad for Bitcoin.
Bitcoin's advantages come to the fore when you are dealing with cross currency transactions. Banks take a big bite in terms of mark up on the exchange rate.
650  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Joinmarket - Coinjoin that people will actually use on: November 20, 2016, 04:34:04 AM
When I run wallet-tool.py, it takes an insanely long time to give me the results.
This wasn't the case a week back. Has something changed at blockr.io's end in the past 1 week?
Or is it a problem just with my internet connection?
How does the speed vary with increase in number of addresses in your wallet?

In the case of Core, there is --fast to speed it up, but in the case of blockr.io it may indeed be some kind of connection problem to them. The only other possibility is if you've done a large number of transactions, which will slow it down for sure, but hopefully not "insane"-ly.

I am not using core. I have done a large number of transactions (the address count is in the 1000s - mostly used).
It takes me ~half an hour to get the output. This was not the case last week....

Pakistani batting line again has deceived everyone and has lurked as usually seen anyway New Zealand has already taken full control on the game as it is matter of formalities because can not do anything to save this match. India on the other hand is doing fantastic job against England let's see where this test match takes us.

Pakistan were way too defensive in the second innings. The lead that New Zealand had in the first innings was not insurmountable. Pakistan would hope to put at least 50-60 runs more in the second innings tomorrow, so that their bowlers will have a reasonable total to bowl at. My money is on a quick New Zealand win in this one.
653  Economy / Economics / Re: Bandwagon Effect - Sweden Begins Work on National Digital Currency on: November 19, 2016, 10:59:45 AM
It seems a little foolish to put all your eggs in one basket as the saying goes. Sure it has efficiency and transparency savings but what happens if the power goes out. Cyber warfare also looks increasingly prevalent and financial operations are always going to be a number one target. It would be very foolish to rush into such an idea, even with bitcoins record so far

Most economies today are vulnerable to cyber warfare, even without a national digital currency. Just think of all the problems this could avoid - tax evasion, counterfeiting, etc.
654  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC is overheated. I OPENED SHORT postition on: November 19, 2016, 02:55:45 AM
Closed at 735 and reopened short again now.

You must be making pennies in all these short positions, even if you do get them right occasionally.
One big move upwards will wipe out your entire capital.
655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: November 19, 2016, 02:53:27 AM
India is brilliant today after posting the 455 runs on the board bowlers did hard efforts to take down England so quickly, England has 5 wickets in hand and still have to trail 352 runs, than it will be good for India to increase the pressure and take some wickets in early session than it will be into winning position for this test match.

They didn't have a good first session, where they lost their main batsmen without adding too many runs. They made up for it in the second and third sessions though. India are favourites to win this match now. England are struggling against the variable bounce and spin offered by this pitch.
656  Economy / Economics / Re: Switzerland=Bitcoin Boom on: November 19, 2016, 02:50:41 AM
They are talking about a new type of bank - crypto bank. It could be a fancy name for an entity which is isolated from the current financial system. We will have to wait and see how this evolves.
657  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today's a great day for bitcoin. I love to earn my digital gravy. on: November 17, 2016, 02:56:15 PM
bitcoin price now topping 750...doubt it'll drop any time soon Smiley

But then again...I've wasted so much selling the past few weeks...wouldn't mind a nice big dip to buy in again (and sell all these crappy alts when they rise as a result)

Unless you expect Bitcoin to stay depressed for long periods, you shouldn't be selling your coins. It is easy to make pennies by shorting bitcoin, but you run the risk of missing an upsurge. We seem to be heading towards a bull run.

There are no big upsurges anymore in the Bitcoin world

the price "only" increased around 7% in the last week

the problem is decide between buy again at loss and risk a price drop or do nothing and the price increase again, making your losses bigger

There may not have been any rapid price increases in the recent past, but don't rule out anything.
We have seen what bitcoin is capable of. Even in these relatively stable times, Bitcoin has jumped 4% in one hour.  Smiley

Obviously, the government would allow mining only for the citizens of the country

That seems to immediately raise problems, central control of a currency is not capitalism.    If they only allow certain people to mine it to exclude competition they'll have to put effort, time and money costs into suppressing people trying to make money.   Doesnt seem like a path to success to me.

Central banks all over the world have been controlling the national fiat currencies since the very inception of fiat (the term itself is telling a lot about this). And this control coexisted pretty well along with capitalism in most developed countries for many decades if not centuries. Also, why would the government allow anyone to mine the national cryptocurrency but their citizens exclusively?

For me, it is like being a public employee in Finland and demand payment in American dollars.

Government may not like citizens of other countries mining a national crypto, but is there any fool proof way to prevent it?
We are all equal in the online world.  Smiley

660  Economy / Economics / Re: Currency v Property on: November 17, 2016, 02:40:52 PM
It's a currency. Just because it fluctuates and isn't like any other currency out there doesn't make it any less of a currency. Governments just want to classify it so they can figure out how we should be taxed!

This is true. Governments are looking to classify it in a way that it can be taxed at the maximum levels.
But they are slow to initiate steps on this and courts all over the world are giving rulings on the classification of Bitcoin.
