I've purchased two COOLER MASTER V1000 RSA00-AFBAG1-US 1000W PSUs to replace the stock 850w Enermax units in av5 & av6. While av5 has been behaving fine, av6 is intermittently shutting down and getting higher than expected hw errors. The stock PSUs cannot handle 4 overclocked modules long term. When the new PSUs arrive I'll move the 850s to av3 & av9 as these two are struggling to get enough power to clock higher with their 700w PSUs.

Total paid is 2.77163805.

Cheers.

Edit: Tracking information indicates these should be delivered tomorrow(8/28).

to be fair, you need to start the asic timeline from september.

...and don't forget to add a notation for when they received their official FCC approval. In two weeks was is it?

Maybe it was a strategic placement to stop the shareprice from falling?
I mean its not important to friedcat what a share is priced

What?Huh What the fuck are you talking about?!

Why should he? The shares were only to create the company. He owns a lot of it but only to own the companies earnings this way. He cant sell them without crashing the price. If friedcat would sell this would be a very bad sign. So in my opinion he never thought of his shares value since the only thing matters for him are the company itself and the part of the earnings he gets.
So why should he care now about the shareprice? He only would because of his shareholders. But the shareprice does change nothing for the company. It will still mine, it will still create the same earnings. So the shareprice is something he only would care because of his shareholders.
And the connections that exist between the shareprice of normal stock exchange securities and the companies profit are not existing here.

+1. Nice observation and post.

Looks like ASICMiner is getting revved back up. Definitely a welcome sight:

Hi redbeans2012. This is not a competition against any one particular mining company, this is a struggle to obtain and hold a small piece of the global bitcoin network in the face of rapidly rising difficulty. It's my contention that overpaying for hashes and/or locking in a fixed hashrate at a relatively high price for a lengthy term is a net net loser. Why do you suppose Alydian offers contracts with such a lengthy term in an environment as fluid as this? Pay as you go for 1 - 3 months even at .38/Gh would likely be a great deal, but that's not the deal offered.

Troll = someone you disagree with? Someone that doesn't share your favorable opinion of this particular investment? Are you suggesting that I'm not authorized to ask questions or offer my opinion unless I've purchased shares?

Your questions have been explained, if you still unsatisfied, try ask the same question to basic mining, and if you can came with some numbers better than this, I am willing to hear.

bASIC-Mining is not engaging in pre-order madness for precisely the reasons I've stated above. Hashes have been added by making select purchases in the secondary market until lead times and unrealistic price tags drop. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, I'm just discussing the topic at hand because I find it interesting.

Cheers.

Let me put it another way. .38BTC*$112.56(bitstamp) = $42.7728/Gh/s for September delivery. This is equivalent to a knc Jupiter(400Gh/s) priced at $17109.12 available next week. Does that sound like a good deal? No? Even without the marginal cost of electricity it will not be paying for itself...let alone make a profit for investors. The term of the contract is entirely too long and is a deal breaker in this uncertain environment.

lol, but even if you are willing to pay $17,109.12, you wont have a 400GH Jupiter available next week.

Let's go and pay $7,000 for 400GH jupiter now, and wait for it to mine in November?
Does this sound like a good deal?

Nope...and that's why I haven't ordered any.

Quote
Difficulty doubles every month, and you want to pay $7000 now to just mine 1/4 of the coins you can mine today in November?

Who leaps out...of the rabbit? Perhaps if we build a large wooden badgah...

What do you mean by "and you want to pay $7000 now to just mine 1/4 of the coins you can mine today in November?" Who's "you" in this instance? Do you recall back when I said "Just because pre-ordering gear months in advance has proven to be a poor decision..."

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=271475.msg3005648#msg3005648

Quote
Can you do the math now? The $7,000 you paid will only worth 100GH/s today, so you need $28,000 to be on par with 400GH/s today, if you take into consideration of the difficulty increase and discount the price back to today.

Another instance of stray "yous".

Quote
$17,109 vs. $28,000, which one is a good deal?

Umm...neither?

Why was there a shareholder vote for the last time you wished to invest in stocks but none this time?

Hi FloatesMcgoates. The motion to which you refer was worded in an open ended way and passed by a solid majority(72.8%). The motion itself refers specifically to AM-PT and as such did not grant me the authority to purchase LC. Though frankly we're talking about 16.54125BTC, 1.91% of our reserve capital, or .129% of bASIC-MINING's value.

I apologize for upsetting you guys, but I know from experience that a solid number of shareholders get antsy when we're not deploying idle capital and this is, IMO, a relatively safe and effective use of a small portion of our funds. I'm just trying to strike a balance here while we await the coming flurry of hardware deliveries and hopefully shorter lead times as well as more reasonable prices.

Cheers.

Hi stslimited. While I understand your perspective, this capital is not doing anything for us at this time and will provide us with a small boost to our daily dividends with very little associated risk while the available hardware options become more clear.

Cheers.

**Announcement**

I've taken a small position in ASICMiner-PT(25) & Labcoin(5000). These positions can be confirmed via bASIC-Mining's public portfolio located here:

https://btct.co/portfolio/f8A1

At what cost basis?  Will you continue to purchase additional shares?  I am totally fine with this, but I hold BASIC primarily to diversify my holdings:  do you anticipate further additional purchases?

Hi Rebelution. I understand, and I'm not generally a huge fan of this kind of thing as I'd rather be purchasing more mining hardware. However, the landscape is changing too fast ATM to commit to anything we cannot readily undo. I would consider adding more AM-PT on weakness if the latest uptick doesn't hold, but I don't want to get into a position that will be difficult to liquidate quickly if/when a hardware purchase makes sense.

Cheers.

Prices paid were 3.097725 & 0.00330825 including fees. We're slightly ahead on one and slightly behind on the other. Though with the speed at which these things change hands I'm not too worried. With all the speculators and short term traders we should probably be investing in the exchange itself.

Cheers.

im not talking anything substantial - you arent the risky type of guy.. thats why I like you bud.

but a 2 or 3 % investment from the coins on hand could turn into something large..

lol

Thanks! Would it surprise you to learn that I enjoy a good hand of no limit Texas Holdem? Smiley

personally I would think to put a small amount into the new IPO's. it wont hurt saying you are a shareholder when they release the tin.

Hi TMAN. Which IPOs do you suggest? LC & ACTM I presume? Any others? Any investments in these would be very small.

Cheers.
657  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: August 25, 2013, 04:58:58 PM
Hi JimiQ84. This is just a short term spike after an extended downtrend. The real reason to buy into AM is IMO management's proven ability to deliver results. New sales of USB miners will result in boosted dividends.
658  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANN] Hosted-Mining (revenue shares) / BTCT.co on: August 25, 2013, 04:37:18 PM
IMHO from now on this is the only option left to small/medium grade miners. Only few will afford mining with their own ASICs. We can only have a piece of the pie like this. Or mine with gpus + free electricity alt coins...

There is so much more truth to this than anyone realizes... we should think about this.

"If we discount the price of $19/GH from KnC delivering end of October back to 8/29/2013, it will be @19*2*2=$76/GH. i.e. 0.69btc/GH.
If we discount the price of $7.8/GH from BFL delivering end of December back to 8/29/2013, it will be @7.8*2*2*2*2=$124.8/GH. i.e. 1.13btc/GH.

In either case, you also have lost the mining revenue that could have been generated during the wait time."

Just because pre-ordering gear months in advance has proven to be a poor decision does not mean that pre-paying for one year of hashes is a good decision. We don't know where difficulty is going to be several months from now, but we can be fairly certain it will be higher, probably much higher, and that the cost/Gh/s will likely be much lower. The very company that you're negotiating a contract with plans to roll out 1Ph/s contracts in October. What do you think that will do to the value of your locked in contract?
659  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: August 25, 2013, 04:24:03 PM
I'd be interested to hear if creativex has reconsidered using a fraction of the reinvestment fund as part of a hedging/investment portfolio.

I'd consider re-opening a position in AM-PT shares at these levels with a portion of our fund. There are no other investments that have both the liquidity and track record. Also, as before, I like the unique situation with AM-PT which requires us to trust only one more person...friedcat.

Thoughts? Concerns?

Diversification never hurts. I agree with that assessment in general.

What was bASIC @ IPO?

Hi BitCoiner2012. bASIC's IPO price was .33, though that price was pre 10:1 split.
