641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 212: Aldo vs Holloway Info and Prediction Thread on: May 29, 2017, 03:47:43 PM
Mirko Crocop is a legend no doubt about that and when he came to the UFC he could not perform like he used to be in the past, his performance was on a slide when he signed for the UFC and he ended his career in Japan with a championship victory and he announced his retirement, good to see him get to retire on a winning note and that too a heavyweight title,it is time for Anderson Silva to step out of the UFC and have some fun fights and call it quits like Mirko did.

After the Rizen win in Japan by Mirko im sure he retired with a good sensation, he demonstrated he could still kick ass.

He should retire now, im sure he is a multi millionaire, all he needs to do now is open a couple gyms and enjoy the unlimited passive income.

Same goes for Silva, his days in the UFC as a world champion are over.

I have no idea about Aldo vs Holloway, that's one I can't predict.

Im saving some money for the Mayweather vs McGregor fight, that's going to be huge. I don't see how you cant lose if you bet for a Mayweather win. It worked 49 times.

Yep, it's stupid to send your ID selfie to random people on the internet, it will most likely end up in the dark market or something. Also when you need to open a bank account, print the docs and go physically to the bank and deliver them there, never send your ID around neither keep a picture of it on your hard drive.

The only way to buy and sell bitcoins anonymously is by meeting with people in real life, everything else is pretty useless if you want privacy.
643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mircea Popescu opinion on segwit UASF on: May 29, 2017, 12:28:30 PM
So my guess is they think it's a joke. But if they think it's a joke, they'll have to put their mouth where their money is, which means they will have to dump legacy for 148 coins, risking being left on the wrong chain that reorgs and disappears if UASF gains traction. Let's see.

But it also works in the other direction.  This is the fundamental problem also of PoW change propositions.  At a certain point, you need to dump your original bitcoins.  That takes a lot of balls, and you might as well make the wrong move.  So thinking that the big whales are going to dump the original chain for any new chain, is a dangerous bet - especially if they want to rip off one another too in this game.

The smartest move is to keep your double coins, and wait until the dust settles.  But if everybody does that, you get an even value split of the market cap.

The 148 chain can't reorg, so it's not a total wipeout risk scenario. Sure if 148 doesn't pick up traction, you can end up with a coin that crashes hard, but notice how even useless bitcoin unlimited tokens in bitfinex still have a price, so you could dump them for cheap and still get some out of it.

On the other hand legacy can reorg which means you end up with literally 0.

So legacy is under this constant pressure of a potential snowball effect happening on 148.

It takes only like 20% hashrate on 148 and the rest of miners should start getting very nervous.

Notice how if Core allows 148 support, bitfury said they will mine it.
644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: May 28, 2017, 03:34:21 PM
Ok this is pretty much confirmed at this point. The deal has been signed by McGregor, now we are waiting on Mayweather to sign the deal and then it's on, possibly september 2017.

McGregor will get slapped around for 75 million and he'll make more money in a night than the entire UFC rooster ever.

Mayweather will continue living in god mode with pretty much unlimited money unless he's a complete idiot and manages to lose it somehow.

But the small chance of McGregor KO'ing up is still there, which is why the fight will be a success with the most tickets sold ever.
I dont think the fight will take place though. Last I head that Mayweather, even though he started the trash talk but he's not very keen on fighting anymore and I'd say that it's a wise decision. He's got the money, He's got the fame and he's been on the news for a long time now also thanks to this drama. I dont think he has any point to prove right now. He's 40 and retired and living a good life. No point getting back and taking a chance on his legacy(in worst case scenario). In other news, Manny Pacquiao seems to be interested to fight McGregor but it doesnt have the same ring to it that Mayweather vs McGregor has.

Dude check the news. It's pretty much done at this point. Mayweather lost money recently, a big amount in some bad deal, this fight is perfect timing to get his money count back to where it was before that bad deal. He also wants the perfect 50-0 record.

McGregor is up for a big payday, he could retire forever after that fight.

Both sides have an incentive to do it.

647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hardfork - Will we own 2 lots of btc? on: May 27, 2017, 03:56:13 PM
I know this may sound like a lame question but if BITCOIN hardforks does that mean we will all get extra BTC from the forked coin?
For example say I have 1 BTCsitting in my wallet, will  suddenly have 2 BTC, one from each chain?

During a hard fork, if it's not with 100% of community consensus, then yes, there would be two coins, which is hard forks are dangerous if they don't have full consensus.

The UASF soft fork is temporary, sooner or later it will resolve and there will be only one chain.
648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin was just dumped down to $2360 on: May 27, 2017, 02:51:33 PM
Thats why you should never buy on margin. Wonder how many people got wiped out.

if they don't sell they have not lost anything, the same for those that they didn't sell in 2013 and that held their amount until this pump, they didn't lost anything too, it's a matter how much you can hold seriously, there is nothing more to do, but cashign out at the right time and buy back more coins is something few can do

Im not sure if you know how margin sells. If the margin positions crosses a certain treshhold, your position is automatically closed and you lose all of your money. If the position is a short position, you could end up in debt, even tho I think this is not the case in poloniex, not sure how it works in other exchanges.

Margin can make you rich or can make you broke, thats why it's high risk/high reward.
649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the bitcoin hyperwhales thinking about the current situation? on: May 27, 2017, 01:27:28 PM
I doubt if any of them are going to be in a rush to sell now. This is not the Moon stage yet, and they will kick their own ass... if this thing goes to

$10 000 or more. I would never sell huge amounts of bitcoins now, because this is still the "baby" phase of this experiment. Just imagine where

this is going to go once the scaling has been sorted.  Huh { We have not even had 1 killer/viral App yet...  } .... Whales.. please sit on those coins.

Im not talking about the current price situation, but specifically about the UASF situation. There will be UASF coins and legacy coins, so whales have 3 options:

1) Sell Legacy for UASF
2) Sell UASF for Legacy
3) Do nothing

But even on the "do nothing" phase, if they are receiving payments, they will have to choose to get paid in UASF chain or Legacy chain, i doubt they will convince people to pay them on both, even tho it would be ideal.

So eventually the market will go either way.

If hyperwhales dump legacy for UASF we may actually see a successful UASF and miners will be forced to join UASF chain.

651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What are the bitcoin hyperwhales thinking about the current situation? on: May 25, 2017, 01:44:16 PM
As we know, bitcoin is mooning, but the scaling situation is still not solved. The so called "Barry agreement" has already been broken, with Roger Ver, Jihad Wu, and some other people involved disagreeing between them:

This is what happens when you don't bring Core developers to the agreement, corporate idiots don't know the technical details and just make a mess. Then again this could have been what some wanted (just keep delaying it)

Ideally, there should be an agreement with a segwit activation through soft fork and a 2MB hard fork later, developed by Core to avoid any nonsense. Unfortunately, this seems unlikely.

Then there's UASF, which will cause a clusterfuck unless snowball effect kicks in and the legacy chain gets reorg'd. If not then we'll have 2 coins listed in (some) exchanges for X amount of time.

In order for UASF to work, the big whales would need to dump legacy for UASF coins. It would also be needed that big exchanges list it. August 1 is around the corner and there isn't a single big exchange making any statement. If UASF works, then great, but as of right now im very skeptical, and the compromise option remains the best, as long as it's developed by Core, because no one is going to download software that is not Core-approved.

My question is, what are the big bitcoin whales like Mircea Popescu or Bruce Wagner thinking about the current situation? what are they planning to do? If I had billions in bitcoin, I would be paying close attention. I checked Mircea's blog, and he hasn't posted anything bitcoin related for ages, he just posts his usual weird stuff.

If anyone has some info then let us know.

So far, im aware of this 40,000 BTC whale showing UASF support:

652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I'm selling all my alt coins and putting everything into Golos on: May 21, 2017, 03:11:27 PM

But pretty sure Steemit could detect the IP of the user and automatically translate all controls of the layout into whatever language the IP is from (or manually set it if you are using a VPN)

You could argue that there are social media like VK that are huge in Russia only, but this is crypto, maybe people don't want to be bothered with holding an extra token if Steemit can deliver the same service.

Based on that idea, why does VK exist - the biggest social media website in Russia? It has over 400 million users worldwide https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VK_(social_networking_website)

Why didn't Facebook just detect the IP address of Russian users and give them Russian controls?

Golos is gaining traction in Russia because its built for Russians by Russians. Makes a big difference.

[/quote]

Well I guess its all about network effect and it operates different in russia, so if golos manages to gain traction and find a niche within the russian market then it can have success in VK style.

Im staying out tho, i cant take more high risks for the time being, im already holding some bags and dont want to risk more btc.
653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I'm selling all my alt coins and putting everything into Golos on: May 20, 2017, 02:59:06 PM
I just cloned the internet, do you want to cancel your regular internet and join the bananonet?

You can post in russian on STEEM too

https://steemit.com/@blockchained

You could post in any language on Steem or any language on any other social platform. Thats not the point.

Golos is Russian only - e.g. its all Russian, the user controls, interface, focus of stories etc.

Its far more attractive for the 260 million Russian speakers to use Golos vs another English centred social media platforms.

But because its Russian it hasn't had much crypto investment.

Look at all the crypto coins that have market caps of above $20 million and pretty much zero real world use. Most crypto coins aren't even used day to day, the price is pure speculation. Golos has a growing userbase, and its only 4 months old.

Many people who use Golos and Steemit didn't even know what crypto was before they started using the platform. How many crypto currencies can say this? I don't know of any others - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What $10k earns in a year in crypto (Top Performing Coins) on: May 20, 2017, 01:41:56 PM
and what would happen if you actually tried to turn those paper gains into actual bitcoin or dollars? you probably wouldn't get very far.

I came here to post this, so yeah, not much to add.

But on some there would be no problem. PIVX has decent liquidity for example, I think you could dump, but yeah it would be less than that since buy orders would keep getting filled so the price would tank. So you should sell daily in smaller amounts to not crash the price.

Anyway those are some great gains.

POSW can give great gains in the future, im holding some. You never know when those alts are a year from now. You have to take some risks by buying the super cheap coins that have some sort of niche purpose and hope for the pump.
655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did the guy ever sell his house to go all in on LTC? on: May 20, 2017, 01:29:41 PM
An illogical foolish risk though.
I support LTC and wouldn't have done it..
I would not risk my home or other coveted valuables on Altcoins.
Hell i'd never invest real money at all in this crap.
And i made 12,000.00 in total so far roughly (but quit trading)

Hate to remind you all again but i am in a league far higher than you fucking noobs.

I took 0 cents and 0 cents and rubbed it together and made 12 fucking grand.
sooooooooo many fucking trades in a few months ..arb'ing / flipping coins on Exchanges.
My first big milestone was when i got 1 Litecoin.. i was proud !
Back then they were worth around a couple bucks i think.

That my profiteer friends is not comparable with taking money from Mommy and buying shitcoins with FIAT then trading and bragging about leet profits.
Or some rich cunt using 100k to trade and then beatin' off bragging about his leet ROI'z.

I make money out of thin air mother fuckers  Cool

Translation:
Blah blah blah.. something about Litecoin.. you are all noobs and i am awesome so fuck you Wink

Care to share some wisdom for us newbies?

He's just shitposting. No one makes money out of thin air, unless you are the president of the FED.

Anyway, the dude in question was never able to sell his house for LTC. If he did when said so, he would be rich now. Unfortunately he missed the boat. Now LTC is trying to find some sort of bottom. I got out and im waiting for a couple of days of flat graphic before I decide when to jump in again. We'll also need to see how UASF resolves in Bitcoin.
656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Rootstock about to make Ethereum irrelevant? on: May 19, 2017, 01:15:27 PM
The main difference: Ethereum has smart contract now. Bitcoin will have this functionality only when Rootstock, will be enabled in the future.
There was the same positive attitude at the time  SegWit was announced, we expected back then that SegWit activation will be a painless process.
So far we still struggle with SegWit acceptance as this solution is blocked by miners. So do we have any serious statement that Rootstock will be treated different that SegWit is?

Rootstock does not need segwit to function, so that is a non issue.

Also, Ethereum within itself is struggling constantly too. They are going to go through the difficulty bomb, fork to PoS, risk another split, and they already got ETC which sucks (having 2 coins makes the coin feel like a bit of a joke to be honest)

There is no such thing as no struggle, if your project is big enough, you are going to struggle constantly. Both BTC and ETH are big so both struggle.
657  Economy / Speculation / Re: A new milestone 2000$ on: May 19, 2017, 11:39:25 AM
We are getting closer to $2000 price. I guess there would be a mass selling if we ever reach that price. I think most of bitcoiner is also waiting for that before they are going to sell as they are also expecting a mass selling. So they are going to take a profit before it goes down a bit again.

$2000 is a nice, round number, it may trigger some selling, but as you said, there's tons of people dreaming to buy cheaper BTC to get in the boat, so they are going to be buying as soon as a good dip happens, it will be going up quickly after.

Once $2000 is broken, the psychological barrier is also broken for the uptrend, so sky is the limit. Once we double the 2013 peak then 5 figures is the next step.
658  Economy / Economics / Re: Poloniex Withdraw Times!? on: May 19, 2017, 10:58:05 AM
What are the withdraw times everyone's experiencing right now on poloniex? Does it matter what coin it is?

Im interested in knowing this too. Have been the delays fixed yet?

I want to still keep some BTC's in hand, and I know the risk by holding it on poloniex, but in case I need to withdraw, I want to know that the coins are going to go through.

I just dont see any other way to trade but to have some BTC in the exchange. I can't be sending back and ford everytime I feel like doing a trade.
659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: cryptofolio.info - Free coin portfoilio with graphs!!! - Now with 420 coins !!! on: May 18, 2017, 06:30:02 PM
Has anyone seen OP? He has been missing since april 20.

Is there a set of instructions somewhere?  Looks great but not obvious to a newer buy and hold type of guy.

Thanks .. I will donate if I use.

It's really easy... just select the coin you want to add, the amount of coins, a name for your wallet if you want, and click "add".

Now, the problem I see with this is, we have to wait for OP to manually add the coins as people request them. I think he should decentralize the way to enter coins. Just give people the ability to automatically add any coins they want. I want to track coins like POSW that aren't added yet, and im getting tired of waiting, so I may be forced to download blockfolio app for android and somehow run it on my computer with an android emulator. I hate having to use computer resources for that so hopefully OP can give us an update soon or else i'll start thinking this project is abandoned (so no further coins added).
660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Team Published a Roadmap For 2017 on: May 18, 2017, 04:03:31 PM
They should work a bit on the website, it looks a bit lame compared to the bitcoincore.org one, but it's looking good.

As we get more and more lightning network related news we will established higher floors each time.

Remember LTC is ultimately always bullish for as long as BTC has no segwit to get LN to the next level.
