641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My view on Bitcoin on: November 12, 2020, 04:42:57 PM
It is sad that people nowadays only associate bitcoin with "investment asset", "store of value", and "profit". There is not even a word about "blockchain", "decentralization", or "censorship resistance". Is this where the future of bitcoin is heading to? I hope not.

Unfortunately that's the truth and I believe bitcoin will be regarded as an investment asset more than anything else until the price swings stabilize. A person does not have many reasons to use BTC for mundane spending when he believes in the future of Bitcoin. He will spend his cash and keep the Bitcoin.

I think financial services platforms who offer people the ability to pay with US Dollars collateralized by their crypto assets will have a tremendous market growth exactly for the reason I exposed above. It is logical for people to desire the unlock of their value held in Bitcoin while still benefitting from price appreciation.
642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a world power? on: November 09, 2020, 08:59:11 PM
Big governments are less unlikely to make such bold moves because that would create waves in the whole world. Also regulations are still not in place for Bitcoin in many countries.
I expect the under-developed countries to make big leaps. They are not that attached to making payments through the banks. That's exactly why see much volume of txs in countries like Nigeria.
643  Other / Archival / Re: 1 Hour = 1 New Bitcoin-ATM on: November 09, 2020, 07:58:08 PM
At least in my country, the Bitcoin ATM fees are quite high. That's why I have never used them. Losing 5-10% of my money is too much for my taste. Much better to use an exchange which takes basis points off the transactions.
644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Suggest the best strategy on: November 09, 2020, 07:08:43 PM
Personally I would choose betting using a progression strategy. The adrenaline shot you get when you're playing martingale and you're almost out of your bankroll AND.. you actually win is priceless. haha
Seriously now, I would only bet with money I would otherwise give on beer or any other activity that would entertain me. Using smaller bets will require more time and betting with bigger amounts will hit your harder financially.

In our world today a Bitcoiner  is a great investor and has good savings without no limit.

Although I like your enthusiasm, a "Bitcoiner" aka a bitcoin investor is not necessarily a good investor. My definition for a good investor is someone who has a track record of good investments over a long-enough period of time. In any case, remember that past results are not a guarantee of future results.

Bitcoin isn’t just safe to keep your funds but it keeps you in charge of your funds.

I'd say that keeping funds in BTC is as safe as their owner knowledge about best practices in security.

Overlooking these observations, Bitcoin is indeed a unique asset that has refreshed our world and gave us a hope for a more transparent future.
646  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Software That Copy Trades on: November 09, 2020, 05:15:28 PM
If you want to create a platform with a copy-trading feature like eToro I think you're better off employing an in-house developer(s). If you don't have the money to hire someone, you don't have a place in the brokerage industry.

Personally I am not aware of any whitelabel software that enables you to copy other traders by linking their accounts, but if you are simply looking to copy other people's trades eToro might be the perfect space for you. Smiley
647  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin reach $20K soon? on: November 09, 2020, 05:04:50 PM
The stock market has already launched probably because Biden has been elected. I'm expecting the bitcoin market to follow. I'm sure that a lot of stock market profits are pouring into Bitcoin and vice-versa. But as Bitcoin is mostly viewed as a long-term wealth appreciation asset the equation is probably in its favor.

Furthermore, once Bitcoin passes the $20k milestone it will enter into price discovery mode so there are big chances we'll see a giant movement.
648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did anyone try to "gamble" with ponzi scheme crypto scam services? on: November 09, 2020, 09:35:08 AM
I don't agree with participating in ponzi schemes even if you know that it is a gamble. A lot of the participants might not know it so they put in more they can afford to lose. This is an ethical problem for me, but it is just how I feel. Maybe I care too much, Idk...

Also by participating in these schemes you encourage their growth.
649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambled against Biden - funniest instance on: November 08, 2020, 08:11:08 PM
A president needs to be with his head on Earth. He can't lose it just because he made a bet with a significant amount. When playing with people's future there is no place for hard feelings, especially when personal matters (like a bet!) are in the game. I don't think any president would say something offensive to Trump.
650  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest threats to the price of Bitcoin. on: November 08, 2020, 07:42:34 PM
I see a lot of people talking about waiting for the dip in the forums because the surge in price slowed down for a bit. These are exactly the circumstances when someone is going to FOMO if the price doesn't dip to the desired price level and instead crushes resistance after resistance. My advice as an average joe and NOT a financial advisor is to slowly scale in your funds so even if the price does not get to your entry target level you will still be satisfied that you partially filled the position. Wink
651  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Spot Trading vs Margin Trading - Which is the best Strategy? on: November 08, 2020, 07:15:53 PM
I don't just think, but I highly recommend that traders who don't have at least a few months of active trading in the markets do not use leverage trading aka margin trading.  It can be a career destroyer if you use it early, trust me. Or... at least you should document yourself and make minimum 100-200 trades on a demo account. There is no best strategy, it's about the risk you want to take and what kind of instruments you're trading.

If you are trading forex and especially on lower timeframes you have to use leverage to optimize your account, but keep it at a very low amount. Remember that even professional traders almost never go past 3-4x leverage.
652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should i Invest more??? on: November 08, 2020, 06:19:48 PM
Here's what I would do if I were you. I would like at my finances. If the profit I've made is more than 1 year savings I would do withdraw it and never look back.
If 50 ETH represents "gambling" money because you're making a heck lot more from your other occupations (job or business) then I would take the profits and the initial capital and put it into bitcoin. This is not financial advice. I just think that 99% of altcoins are crap - you should get in and get out as soon as you can. Bitcoin is the king (much less riskier than this coins without liquidity or institutional interest).

I've only heard about CurioInvest and that's because I've seen their thread in the forums. So I can't really give an educated opinion about the fundamentals of these coins.
653  Economy / Speculation / Re: Paypal accepted the Crypto but it will reduce the BTC marketcaps on: November 08, 2020, 06:03:03 PM
I don't understand what do you mean about fake bitcoins. If you are referring to the fact that they will not sell real Bitcoins, you are wrong. PayPal is a big company that is probably undergoing regular audits.
They haven't said anything about creating synthetic products backed by Bitcoin (and even in that case they would have to demonstrate their Bitcoin holdings).
654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What made yoi think of investing in bitcoin at the current market? on: November 08, 2020, 12:19:07 PM
Is there any reason we can think of why people love to invest in bitcoin while market price is high?

While for many people the current Bitcoin price is relatively high, for other it might be a low price. Therefore they buy every dip they catch. Wink

If Bitcoin is really a proof-of-value asset aka a better version of Gold, its price should be in the upper $100,000s. In order to have liquidity at that levels we need massive institutional support. The good news is we see companies and funds constantly accumulating. I'm confident that slowly we'll get there.

If I would live in hyperinflationary countries like Venezuela I would be mega happy to put all my savings into Bitcoin if I wouldn't have access to precious metals ETFs in which case I would create a portfolio. Smiley
655  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We want to create a payment gateway with cryptocurrencies. Can you help us? on: November 08, 2020, 10:06:28 AM
First of all you might want to think again about the name. In my opinion it is not really expressive for your offering. You said you want to build a DEX and offer crypto payments processing solutions for businesses. I don't know what the Wolf has to do with it. Maybe you can tell a little story about that?

I don't really use cryptocurrencies for shopping unless there is an emergency. They are just too volatile and I for now they serve a better purpose if you just hodl them.

I'm more like a Bitcoin maximalist. I don't believe in the majority of altcoins out there. Ethereum is useful because of the tokens feature.

  • What would you like to be able to do with cryptocurrencies? (Buy products, Exchange, Send to other wallet, ...)

For now there is nothing I would like to do with cryptocurrencies that I can't do now through the already existing services on the market. In the future, when the market will be much more stable and liquid, everybody would like to make fast payments using them at both online or offline stores.
656  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is Bitcoin dumping right now? on: November 08, 2020, 09:13:32 AM
I think it is a human inherent trait to be curious, to find exactly why something is happening. My answer to you is that the markets are always imprevisible, you can't possibly know all the market forces. There are buyers, there are sellers, and there are people staying one the fence observing the environment. Think logically, how could someone know that the dump was caused by the election results or inversely if the surge in price was caused by the PayPal news.

What we do know is that whenever there is a dump, bears have more power than the bulls. Conversely whenever there is a pump, bulls are charging ahead as the demand is higher than the supply.
657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I accept Bitcoin for payments on my online store? on: November 07, 2020, 08:47:45 PM
If you are looking to keep Bitcoins for a long time or want to exchange them by yourself without paying processing fees I suggest you look into direct Bitcoin payment solutions. I'm not sure about the solutions existent in the market, but you should find something that is not too complicated for customers. Otherwise you can integrate a third-party bitcoin payments processor. They will like charge like 1% from every transaction but they save you from the hassle of exchanging BTC to fiat so you can pay your business expenses.

Personally I wouldn't use Bitcoin for payments unless I am in an emergency situation. They are just too scarce and valuable IMO Smiley
658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTO Coin Technical Analysis 120 % profit on: November 07, 2020, 06:35:38 PM
Here's why I agree with your trade setup:
- It is a good trade in terms of risk-reward ratio

Here's why I don't agree

- The volume is not impressive at all.
- A support/resistance tested more than 3-4 times is likely to fail
- Altcoins got beaten up recently so opportunites are likely to exis for other altcoins as well.
- Subjective: this is a longer term trade (aka a few months)
659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Loan to buy Bitcoin? on: November 07, 2020, 05:18:32 PM
I'm buying ~500$ in Bitcoin every month with part of my salary. I have a stable job and my company is doing good. I'm wondering if it worth to take 20.000$ to buy 2 BTC now and pay the 500$ as loan installment instead of buying sats every month. I believe in the potential of Bitcoin to reach 50k in a couple years, but it wouldn't be possible to buy near half of BTC at the 500$ rate, so this would be something like an "advance". Hypothetically (but still possible in some probability), if BTC collapses and never recover from 8k, I would still be paying this loan for about 3 years but wouldn't starve or something like that, it would just sux for a while, since I still have another source of income. I know it's not the place to ask I will do whatever I think it's best, but if you were in my position, would you do it?

You say that "you will be paying this loan for about 3 years". Will you be paying it by lowering your lifestyle or you will just use to extra money you would have invested anyway?
I think you need to sleep on it for a few days, $20k is not a low amount and the fact that you can pay it only 3 years sounds a lot to me. Bitcoin is still a wild west with this violent swings. Don't forget that we're in a pandemic and things are worsening. Are you confident that you can keep your job if the COVID crisis persists for another 1 year?

I don't know how your portfolio is spread out aka what other investments you have and your overall financial status, but I wouldn't borrow this much. Maybe think about getting only a half or a quarter of that sum.
660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do not trade Alts with BTC these days, You will just lose on: November 07, 2020, 05:03:31 PM
Don't listen to this advice or the one that follows. You can still make money trading alts by profiting from the bounces, betting on reversals or if you are more experienced and courageous you can try your hand at shorting them. Professional traders can make money no matter which way the market goes. You just need a solid strategy and stick to it.
