I am looking to buy 0.5 BTC today.

I am willing to pay Bitstamp +5% to get this done now.

I will take a BTC-e code as well.

Shoot a payment method to me and I will tell you whether I can do it or not.

I can do this within the next hour. Moneygram would be better. Any idea what the fees are?

I am in the minority here, but I DO NOT want a refund. I want to wait this out and see what happens.

But I would like to be updated as to what is going on without having to dig through pages and pages of refund requests.

thomas, DZ or bobsag...can we get an updated OP? Just something letting people know what is going on. And it would be great if I could look there weekly for updates concerning our progress.

Good idea?

^ +1.

Also LOL at OP.
646  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Besides Cash - is any payment method truely safe for BTC sellers? on: January 23, 2014, 01:17:34 PM
OKPay is safe. Not very convenient.
Western Union and Moneygram are safe and usually pretty convenient, but can be expensive and jerk you around at times.
Of course cash, like you mentioned. If someone deposits cash into your bank account that is a safe method.
Selling bitcoin for other cryptos is safe if you trust the trade partner and/or use a good escrow.

All of the above are tried and true methods for selling coin.

Moneypak cards have been good for me personally. Cash purchased MP cards are pretty much cash. Now credit and debit purchased MP's should only be accepted from trusted buyers. Although I have read a few reversal stories online (not more than 3 or 4), I have personally never had an issue accepting an MP as payment for bitcoins. That is not to say it can never happen to me, but overall the method has proven to be one of the best overall combinations of convenience, safety and value. MP's cost $5 or less and can be found all over.

Hope that helps a little bit.

654  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Selling on localbitcoins.com on: December 13, 2013, 03:56:48 AM
They don't ask for any id however be very careful trading on localbitcoins. I've done a number of trades there and the number one type of fraud is stolen bank funds. So the lesson here is to wait at least 7 days after the bank deposit before releasing escrow.

This is of course only if you trade with someone who accepts bank transfer.

Good luck,

Explain please.

657  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBook.biz - Bitcoin sportsbook - Best odds - Instant Withdrawals on: December 08, 2013, 08:43:15 PM
Update: BitBook is back functioning normally. Our odds updater is once again working.

Once again, we would like to apologize for this outage. We pride ourselves on delivering the best bitcoin sports betting experience, and today we fell short on that. All businesses have an interest in avoiding errors and strengthening their brand, but we feel a particular responsibility because we are not only working to improve our own reputation, but also to generally represent bitcoin services as reliable and trustworthy. We've invested an enormous amount of effort into having the best operations - quick settling, withdrawing, and great odds - but we know that it doesn't mean much if you can't get your bets in when you want to.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding with this. This is the first outage of this sort that we have had in the history of our operations, and we will be working hard to prevent any more such occurrences.

Thank you for making a statement and apologizing. That is usually all you can really ask from any business that experiences technical isues.

BUT....

This issue cost some people money. On the flip side, it probably saved people some money as well. In all fairness I would have lost my under bet in the IND @ CIN game. But had I been able to place wagers on other games it looks as if I would have had a winning day. (Games not over quite yet)

Regardless of outcomes of games I feel like bitbook should do more than just simply apologize. Of course there is no way you can compensate everyone who tried placing bets this morning. There is probably no way of tracking it. But you could at least do something for the users who posted in this thread when the problem occurred. After all, those are the only users you can actually confirm tried placing bets this morning.

Anything to show appreciation...it doesn't have to be much, but more than an "I'm sorry."

Just my thoughts. Not sure if they matter to you or not.
658  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBook.biz - Bitcoin sportsbook - Best odds - Instant Withdrawals on: December 08, 2013, 07:15:27 PM
Hey guys, once again we are really sorry about this outage. We are also very frustrated and we are working very hard to get things back up and running ASAP.

Just to be clear though, this is just a temporary technical issue, not a deeper problem with the book. As always, all accepted bets will be honored. All user balances and account histories are 100% safe and secure.

There is an issue with our odds updater that occurred at the worst possible time. We are working very hard to get things back in time for the late games.

Do you have any plans to accommodate those who were unable to bet NFL this morning?
659  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBook.biz - Bitcoin sportsbook - Best odds - Instant Withdrawals on: December 08, 2013, 07:10:16 PM
Agreed. I'm not one to ask for a handout, but I've long been in favor of a vip rewards system of some sort.

All of the fiat sports book have them and they're making more than enough money.

I've wagered somewhere around $100k and haven't had any perks. If I was still at betdsi I'd have received another macbook and some other free stuff.

The first bitcoin sportsbook to do it will have my businesse for sure, and I would assume most everyone else's.

Absolutely.

Though I am nowhere near your bankroll, I am a winning NCAA Football capper and I bet nearly every week. Rewards would be nice since there is competition amongst BTC sportsbooks now, we can talk our business elsewhere. I chose bitbook because their minimums are lower than btcsportsbet and with the rise in BTC value I thought it made money-management sense. I never had any issues with btcsportsbet though I must say.
660  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBook.biz - Bitcoin sportsbook - Best odds - Instant Withdrawals on: December 08, 2013, 06:37:40 PM
Well as much as I would like to see them honor bets I don't really see how they would do so. I mean, some of us were able to post our bets here before all games started but not all who were affected were also posting on BitBook's bitcointalk thread while they placed bets. Plus, I intended to place bets on more than one game, but after I got the first error message I quit trying. To be honest I wanted to play the unders in all of these bad weather games.

While honoring bets may not be feasible I would at least like them to do something. Maybe some free bet vouchers or some BTC credited to our accounts or something.

I actually left btcsportsbet to try bitbook and up til now my experience was good. This is unacceptable for Sunday.
