641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most perspecive/promising SHA256D altcoin? on: April 21, 2014, 08:29:58 AM
Definitely MYR. With it being the first Multi-PoW it is leading the way and uncovering new innovative things. Mine for future profits if it isn't the most profitable right now. Lots of stuff coming Smiley
642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MYR] Myriad - Multi Algo - SHA or Scrypt or Qubit or Skein or Groestl on: April 21, 2014, 08:25:30 AM
This coin already out for 2 months and you guys still talking about mining ? No wonder nobody wants to buy this coin. Its all about mining , the value of the coin doesn't matter, its all about innovation , not price , isn't it ? 1 myr = 1 myr. Extremely low trading volume on exchange after 2 months, good job.

Are you upset people are working on this coin the right way instead of hyping it every day?

Check out Myriadcoin.

Actual innovation for actual progress.

Multi-PoW is a reality and has awesome implications. I can spell them out here if you want.

So, in essence, X11 would maintain the green and orange algos, that exist in myriad today and add the blue algos, that would be new to myriad.

The idea is never lower the complexity and diversity of algos used, because that's what provides for diversity in mining options Smiley
To that end, qubit could remain, as its combination is still simply minable with modern CPUs in a decent hashrate, even though all the algos are in X11 anyway

My point is that myriad would become simpler to the crypto community to understand and thus widely explored and mined.

The wide adoption X11 is getting will make less and less profitable to mine coins that use only one or several of the algos, and to some extend there's the risk of most myriad becoming mined only through SHA and Scrypt, with ASICS on both cases centralizing the hash power

A move to X11 now would simplify things and allow for further development without loosing any algo and keep the number of alternatives manageable (4/5 algos)

Simplify what?  Moving to X11 doesn't do anything.  The point isn't to incorporate every algorithm, but to have functionality and a role for each of the algorithms.  Moving to X11 might mean more algorithms are used, but it does literally nothing to improve the blockchain, attract different miners, or add functionality to the coin.

"The wide adoption X11 is getting will make less and less profitable to mine coins that use only one or several of the algos, and to some extend there's the risk of most myriad becoming mined only through SHA and Scrypt, with ASICS on both cases centralizing the hash power" - I just don't know what to say to this.  Are you just emotionally attached to X11?  It seems you think adding X11 is somehow going to attract miners, because people are going stop mining qubit/groestl/skein as x11 spreads!?!?  If we have those three algorithms, people will mine those three algorithms.  Miners don't care about pressing return on an x11 cgminer instance vs a skein cgminer instance.

Please don't take this as a flame, I just genuinely don't see any reason to do what your saying exception emotional love of X11.

I tend to agree with this statement.
649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Which altcoin should replace Auroracoin in the ALTDEX? on: April 21, 2014, 05:58:37 AM
Myriadcoin.

The first multi-PoW coin. The things people dream about.
650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The KnC ASIC farm would compete for only 1/5 total coins on Myriadcoin. on: April 21, 2014, 05:31:22 AM
2/5. Sha256 and Scrypt. If their Scrypt farm isn't already massive it will be.

However, I'm a fan of what Myriad has done. I like to see some innovation in coins and multi-PoW definitely has some potential.

Well, I'll update when photos get leaked of their Scrypt farm.

Regardless, single blockchain coins feel somewhat....outdated? Because exactly this type of stuff is allowed to happen.

Look 20 years into the future and you might very well see ASICs for all types of algorithms, regardless how resistant. Now take a look at the coins. Is it best to have the ASICs ruling entire blockchains with 1 algo or multiple algos (Myriad)?

In the meantime the at home miners have 3 other algorithms to realistically compete (against each other only!) for 3/5 Myriad's coin supply for a long long time.

652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The KnC ASIC farm would compete for only 1/5 total coins on Myriadcoin. on: April 21, 2014, 04:29:44 AM
Myriad's blockchain can be mined by any of 5 algorithms. Sha256, Scrypt, Skein, Groestl, OR Qubit.
Each algorithm is designed to mine 1/5 of the entire coin supply over time.

Therefore, this would be competing for just 1/5 of the coins in Myriad:

Multi-PoW is the future of mining? I say yes. And Myriadcoin is already here.

Discuss.

Just a nice little FYI for you guys with Androids:

There is a beautiful Mintpal price checker for MYR, so if you are obsessed with the price just download this app Bitcoin Checker by Mobnetic: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobnetic.coinguardian

Go select the Mintpal exchange when you add a new coin in the app then find MYR on the list. If the list does not have MYR you need to click the little exclamation mark with a circle around it next to the market pair option to fetch the new currencies.

I just updated to the 0.8.99.9 windows wallet and now I'm 7 weeks behind and have a Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.  Any help?

Well we hardforked a week ago. I havent seen this warning before. Perhaps sync fully and see how it goes? Your wallet version looks to be correct.

if you watch the patterns it's always same circle jerk group of devs, pools, you can spot it in writing and even design and always same pools .

hopefully people will learn and start supporting fair coins , Vert, Exe, Dark, Logicoin, Aiden, and more(plenty of decent coins around)

Add Myriadcoin to that list. I am still amazed people are overlooking it this much.

It would be nice to have a discussion about Myriad and merged mining. We had one on IRC yesterday and so far concluded that Myriad would be technologically superior at being a merged mining parent and should be utilized as such down the road.

Speaking briefly about ASIC centralization and multiple proof-of-work functions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si-2niFDgtI&feature=youtu.be&t=41m

The Unbeknownst Foreshadowing of Myriadcoin?

Dan: "One dude spins up one batch of ASICs and gets double digit percentages of the network. That's ONE GUY. That's not OK."
...
Panel Member 1: "With an ASIC, best case you're going to see a massive industrialization of mining to the hands of a few small players. It's not going to be an ASIC in every garage."
Dan: "If that happens, Bitcoin fails. ... I had a meeting with some people and it became clear that multiple proof-of-work functions operating as a you know, "basket of currencies" kind of thing is probably the path that is going to happen.... I don't know where this is going to go yet. All I know is that bitcoin has a life or death dependency on mining not centralization. ... Look, this aspect of the system has got to change. I'm not sure what it's going to change into, but either Bitcoin changes or something else happens to leverage the hundreds of millions of machine, Because right now if you have a GPU or a CPU you shouldn't be mining."
Panel Member 1: "That's not true. GPU mining, dollar for dollar, pays in the same band it's paid for the past three years."
Dan: "Only because the ASIC guys aren't fully online."

Qubit p2p pool needs more hash power

http://p2poolcoin.com:5567/static/
I was just going to post the same message, thanks for support. I don't understand why so few people use p2pool.
Anyway, i put some of my rigs back to help the node.

70% of the qubit hash is on the myr.nonce-pool.com, that's not nice to have all this power centralized.

Don't forget everyone can make a p2pool node for qubit with this source code:
https://github.com/linked67/p2pool-myrq

Excellent point to make again. Pool owners won't like it but it's the truth.
Pool owers can build a p2pool node too  Wink

Since i have switch back most of my rigs to qubit p2pool, we have a better "Expected time to block". It was near 10h and it's around 3h now.
With 50 or 100Mh/s more (10 or 20 r9280x), we should be around 1h to find a block.

Is Scrypt the best way to mine this coin with GPU?

Skein, Qubit, and Groestl are also very good. You can see the estimated coins per scrypt mh and calculate it from how many GPUs you are running here: http://myriad.theblockexplorer.com/

The need for Multi-PoWs was discussed 1 year ago at the 2013 Bitcoin Conference - Security Panel.

Skip to 41:00. Dan Kaminsky is the main guy talking about Multi-PoWs.

It's amazing that MyriadCoin is the realization of these talks 1 year ago. Thoughts?
