They can't even get the thumbnails to match up with the full-size images taken from the old Infineon YouTube video.  Check it out at https://www.cryptory.com/news/ - click one of the 6 thumbnails and marvel as the displayed image is randomly just wrong.

Such technical expertise!

Also, from the newsletter:

Quote
Traditionally, Bitcoin mining has remained inefficient in the overwhelming majority of cases as there is a lot of duplicated effort, with Bitcoin miners computing the same hashes over and over again. This has meant that even those using pools often experience a great deal of redundancy in the Bitcoin mining process.

lol.

Why would miners compute the same hashes over and over again?

Answer: they wouldn't.

This is some pics from cryprorys headquarter according to their latest news letter.

I wonder why they used screenshots from this youtube video taken at an Infineon production site and uploaded in 2010 (before work on mining ASICs even started) for their news letter rather than taking photos of something up-to-date and relevant?

Here we see the boss of Cryptory trying to locate what is left of his integrity.
6425  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitponzi.io - fair ponzi with automated hourly payments, 150% in 150 hours. on: July 01, 2014, 08:03:09 PM
Wow! You don't see an honest Ponzi very often.

Well done. Smiley

Yes, we've all been given a chance to get extra rich extra fast, and are stupid not to give it a shot.

BTW Dooglus, best wishes to you, I'm not a player nor an investor (yet), I was researching how Bitcoin is used for gambling and I run into Just-Dice thread, just a day after you decided to halt the operation. I am impressed with your work, happy to see you back in the game. Good luck Smiley

There's a difference between running a Ponzi scheme honestly and running a Ponzi scheme that is worth playing.

Most people running Ponzi schemes tell their victims that they are investing the money somewhere that makes amazing returns; they're mining, or daytrading, or in some other way putting your coins to work to make the returns they promise. They're almost always lying. They just use new deposits to fund the returns of older depositors.

OP here isn't lying. He openly says that he's not investing the deposits at all, and is simply running a classic Ponzi.

That's better than what most Ponzi operators do.

I still wouldn't play, or recommend playing. But it's good that OP is being honest about his scheme.

One criticism I would make is that he's not clear about the end game. What happens when it comes to be payout time and he only has 75% of the amount he needs to make a payout?

Does he:

1) shut down, and keep the remaining funds for himself?
2) shut down, and make a final 75% payout?
3) skip this payout, wait for new deposits, then continue business as usual whenever there's enough to make a full hourly payout?
4) something else?

It would be good to have that clearly specified.

In fact it would be good to have the whole thing written up as an Ethereum contract! It could take no fee at all and be clear to everyone that it was as fair as possible. It's the next evolutionary step. We have transparency through the blockchain, we have automatic payments, and next Etherium will give us absolute certainty that OP isn't going to run with the coins, since OP is an Ethereum contract that blindly follows his own rules.
6426  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: ♣♣♣ CoinMintersClub ♣♣♣ ~ 150% profit after 10 days on: July 01, 2014, 07:34:58 PM
Okay...sorry..about CMC...I will tell if this is a SCAM.....OF COURSE ......and I do CARE...BIG TIME
As long as it pays...i can't say it's a scam !!

If Ponzi scams never paid, they would make very little money. They have to start off paying to build up trust so that people will deposit bigger and bigger amounts.

So whether a Ponzi scheme stopped paying already or not doesn't change the fact that it is going to stop paying at some point.

I'm not asking you to say it's a scam. We both know it's a scam, but you don't have to say it if you don't want to.

But please don't say it isn't a scam - that's just wrong, and you might end up tricking stupid people into believing you.
6427  Economy / Gambling / Re: The One and Only Real Money-Making-Formula! 140% Return on Investment. WOW on: July 01, 2014, 07:31:53 PM
why would I stop paying when I profit from 1% transaction fee? Payouts are automatic anyway.

It's funny how you magically appeared online right after my post  Roll Eyes

You would stop paying because you cannot afford to pay 140% returns. From every user deposit, you keep 1% and return 140% to the users. That means you return 141% of every deposit.

Where are you finding the extra 41%? You find it by sucking in new victims. But there's a finite supply of idiots in the world. It's large, I'll give you that, but it's finite. And so at some point you will run out. Then you will have to stop paying.

I don't appear magically. I use a modem like everyone else. And what's funny about us coming online at similar times? I don't understand your point. Am I stalking you or something? How would I do that if I wasn't online already? Do I have multiple forum accounts, one for stalking and one for posting? Just how crazy are you?
6428  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: • CRYPTORY • — MAXIMIZE YOUR EARNING POTENTIAL WITH CRYPTORY! on: July 01, 2014, 07:26:07 PM
Evidence are sometimes fake too.Why can't that be the case here, why aren't we thinking about it.

So obviously Cryptopry is being made to look bad by conspiracyst.

It is possible to fake a chat log, sure. But who would, and why?

Cryptory is being made bad because it claims to offer guaranteed returns from mining 5 years into the future. That is clearly impossible.

Can you not see in the shots i post that I have bitcoins in my account at Cryptory.

They haven't gone away in months and now they will run away suddenly. It is not happening my friend.

I'm not saying they will run away "now", or "suddenly". Just that they cannot keep paying exponentially growing returns from mining like they claim to be able to do. It is a mathematical impossibility.

And screenshots prove nothing. Just like chat logs.

6429  Economy / Gambling / Re: How do you create a dice gambling site? on: July 01, 2014, 07:17:44 PM
What does it mean when a transaction changes? When a transaction changes from 1 confirmation to 2 confirmation? Or does any new transaction count as a transaction change?

According to the comment in the source code:

// notify an external script when a wallet transaction comes in or is updated

It is done in CWallet::AddToWallet() which appears to be called when a transaction is seen on the network as a standalone transaction or in a block. It won't be called for the 2nd or later confirmation of a transaction.

I don't see an obvious way of defending against malleability attacks using this. It's quite possible you'll see a deposit to a customer address from an unconfirmed transaction, and then later see a deposit of the same amount to the same address from a transaction with a different txid that made it into a block, where the two transactions are mutually incompatible since they have the same inputs.

In other words, there's -walletnotify to tell you when a new transaction arrived, but there's nothing to tell you when that transaction was overwritten by a new version of the same transaction.
6430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: July 01, 2014, 06:51:30 PM
Not coincidence dooglus, that's just math.

whichever system you use, you'll ALWAYS expect to lose exactly the house edge over the total amount of money wagered.

True, but this is a neat result:

99.1624% of the time you win 1 unit
0.8376% of the time you lose 127 units (that's about 1 in 120 times that you play)

Betting 127 units to win 1 unit is a 1.007874x payout.
On a site with a 1% edge, you would get a 98.2265625% chance of winning such a bet.

But we have a 99.1624% chance of winning it by using this martingale progression.
That is significantly better.

Looks to me like we've reduced the 1% house edge to an effective edge of 0.0568%!

>>> (0.505^7 * 127 - (1 - 0.505^7))  /  127.0 * 100

Man I make many times more than that from my Bitcoins in Cryptory. And you think I would give up in this to argue with you.

Cryptory is enough for me to keep me going with my costs.

One day Cryptory is going to disappear with your coins. If you aren't withdrawing at least as much as you put in, you're not making anything.

I don't know whether to believe you that you have coins with them.

If you do, that's just dumb.
If you don't, you're just a shill.

Either way that's not a good way to be.
6432  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: • CRYPTORY • — MAXIMIZE YOUR EARNING POTENTIAL WITH CRYPTORY! on: July 01, 2014, 06:36:32 PM
The name of the op here is Bitcoinplus not Bitcoin Referrals. Why should we believe they are same.

It looks to me like a real conversation with somebody offering $1 per post for people to shill for Cryptory. It doesn't matter whether the person in the conversation is the same person promoting the scam here or not. The point is that it is evidence that Cryptory are paying people to pretend to believe that it isn't a scam, which gives the first plausible explanation for the existence of posters like yourself.

I can't see any other reasonable explanation for why you would be promoting them so hard. It's not in an investor's best interest to attract more investment when what you claim to believe you're investing in is a mining farm of some kind. More investment means more dilution for you because of increasing mining difficulty.

If you think this from an outside perspective, suppose you are running a scam, would you leave a big conversation like that with a stranger about your plan.Of course not.

What do you mean by 'leaving' a conversation? They had the conversation. The guy they were talking to logged it and sent it to me. How are they going to get people to promote their scam if they don't talk to them about it? Lucky for potential victims this guy was honest enough to do the right thing and publish the dirty secret rather than playing along and profiting $1 per post while helping to rip off innocent victims.

No one here is making a conspiracy to promote Cryptory.Cryptory itself is the real deal, which is being promoted.

I think the chat log suggests exactly the opposite. It is evidence of conspiracy to promote Cryptory.
6433  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: • CRYPTORY • — MAXIMIZE YOUR EARNING POTENTIAL WITH CRYPTORY! on: July 01, 2014, 06:27:29 PM
Like I said I am not getting paid to post.

Why do you think I would argue with you so much for $8 when I can make that much in 1 hour by doing real life works.

I don't know. Why do you argue in favour of an obvious scam so hard if it's not because they pay you to do it?

If it's a real investment making coins from mining, it isn't in your best interest to advertise them. more investors means more competition for your miner, difficulty goes up, and your returns diminish.

So good question. What is in it for you?
6434  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: ♣♣♣ CoinMintersClub ♣♣♣ on: July 01, 2014, 06:23:19 PM
Zebra raised an interesting point.

It sounds like you don't care whether this is a scam or not, you just want to profit, even if it is at the expense of other victims.

Is that right? Are you happy to make a profit knowing that it can only happen if other people get ripped off by this scam?

I will tell if this is a SCAM.....OF COURSE ......and I do CARE...BIG TIME

We don't need "time" to show if CMC is a scam or not. The promised returns show us already that it is. There's no way to make the returns they are promising so it has to be a scam.

You messed up the quoting.  I didn't say "I will tell if this is a SCAM.....OF COURSE ......and I do CARE...BIG TIME".
6435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Play or Invest : 1% House Edge : Banter++ on: July 01, 2014, 06:14:01 PM
I'm still kinda confused.

I'm not an investor of JD , but it would be great if you could update the OP to an explanation of what has happened or alternatively create a new thread about this.

What do you plan to do now ? Are you going to call it quits or are you going to start up again in some other form?
(I hope you have not already answered this)

I don't have any fixed plans. I have been in a lot of pain, on medication for it, and trying to focus on returning the coins.

Of the 53,000 coins Just-Dice was holding, only 2,500 are left now. That's less than 5%.  Over 95% of the coins we were entrusted with have been returned to their owners in just 8 days.

I do hope to find a way to bring the sites back legally. I'm not prepared to comply with invasive KYC/AML regulations so if it's a choice between snooping on players and shutting down the site, I'll shut down the site.

Hopefully there's an alternative where I can move the site to a more friendly locality which doesn't drive business away with silly regulations.
6436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: July 01, 2014, 06:03:58 PM
It's a very weird casino game where you have a 99% chance of winning.  I guess the win is <1% of the bet?  What game is this?

I think he's considering a single Martingale progression as a "game".

Suppose you have 127 BTC, play a dice game with a 49.5% chance of winning each roll, and double your stake when you win.

You start by betting 1 BTC. If you win, you made 1 BTC profit. If you lose, you double your bet and repeat.
You will bet 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 in turn until you win one. If you win any one of those bets you stop, and have a net profit of 1 BTC.

Your chance of losing all 7 bets is 0.505^7 = 0.8376%

So your chance of winning any one of them (and stopping with a profit) is 99.1624%.

I think that's the 99% he's talking about.

Notice the expected value of the game:

99.1624% of the time you win 1 unit
0.8376% of the time you lose 127 units (that's about 1 in 120 times that you play)
expected profit = 1 * (1 - 0.505^7) - 127 * 0.505^7 = -0.0721

So you expect to lose 0.0721 BTC each time you play (even though you will win 99.1624% of the time).

Intuitively, if you win one unit almost every time you play, but every 120 times or so you lose 127 units, that's not a winning game. If you lost 127 units every 130 times you played on average, that would be a winning game, just about. But losing every 120 times on average is a losing game.

By an amazing coincidence the expected loss per game is exactly 1% of the amount you expect to risk, which is 7.21 BTC per "game":

>>> w = 0.495
>>> l = 1 - w
>>> w * (1 + 3*l + 7*l^2 + 15*l^3 + 31*l^4 + 63*l^5) + 127*l^6
7.21353521

No.If it were a house of cards in danger of collapse it would have happened a long time ago. Cryptory is standing with their proved system.

This is nonsense.

All Ponzi schemes collapse eventually.

Your argument "if it was going to collapse it would have already collapsed" makes no sense at all.

Did you get paid $1 for that post?

I was sent a copy of a Skype conversation between a forum member and someone calling themselves "Bitcoin Referrals" who was offering $1 per forum post to shill for Cryptory.

So if you're wondering why there are so many positive posts over and over again from just a couple of accounts, I guess this is why: they're getting paid $1 per post to try to trick you into losing your life savings to this scam:

Okay we have a bet.Lets see,'if only Cryptory goes bust' and we will do the deal.

Cryptory isn't going bust.

They are making money from all the suckers "investing" with them.

Did you think I was saying Cryptory will lose money? They're the ones *running* the scam, ffs.
