I bought some pick3 tickets and the pot did not increase, it has been a few hours.
6442  Economy / Marketplace / Re: WANTED: 100+ BTC, for Pecunix GAU on: September 04, 2010, 10:55:46 PM
I might be interested, when I looked at Pecunix before my main disappointment was difficulty getting value in. I'll check them out again and let you know in a day or two.

Ah. Yeah. It's quite possible. Any guidlines regarding this image? Where from it came and could be it used in open source project?

I grabbed it out of a thread on twoplustwo.com, let me see if I can find anything out.

The cards are very similar or maybe the exact cards as one of poker stars' options. I think they were put in the thread so people could mod their FTP layouts. They seem to simple to copyright to me anyway, but I wouldn't really know.
6444  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: to be sold --> 55 BTC @ 0.05 USD/BTC for LR on: September 02, 2010, 07:38:12 PM
Mtgox does not deal in LR ,so in a hurry to earn from market swings I  converted 55 BTC to 3.28 $ paypal .Can't withdraw such small amount to paypal .I am struck ,should I withdraw my bitcoin from mtgox ,please suggest what do ,I urgently need Liberty reserve balance .

You just can't do it that small through MtGox because I think I can send a gift that small. I'm going to be out all day, so I might not be your best bet, but I'd be willing to buy them for PayPal.

These would make it much easier.

6446  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Poker Room on: September 02, 2010, 10:33:17 AM
I guess the dimmer color might be good enough actually.

I noticed that when I use the check boxes the buttons still flash for a sec.
6447  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Poker Room on: September 02, 2010, 09:25:29 AM
I saw myself bet .04 that I didn't think I bet, and then was raised to .04 very quickly (simultaneously? not sure). I think it displayed my opponent's raise in front of both of us.

There should be a clear "sitting out" notice on a player who is now sitting out. Is it changing color for that right now?
6448  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Biddingpond on: September 02, 2010, 03:37:45 AM
List items starting at the absolute lowest you are wiling to sell them for. This will get people attached to your stuff and bid it up higher than otherwise.

For selling BTC I would use MtGox, you'll get PayPal right from his instead of a stranger. For buying BTC you'll have to wait at MtGox so I'd say BitcoinMarket.
6449  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: to be sold --> 55 BTC @ 0.05 USD/BTC for LR on: September 01, 2010, 11:32:26 PM
thanx but I got 3.28$ paypal on MTgox .
How did you manage to receive usd funds at Mt. Gox from selling LR?

He was trying to sell BTC to get LR. He decided to just sell them for PayPal instead.
6450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blogger: Is It Better To Buy Or Generate Bitcoins? on: September 01, 2010, 11:15:04 AM
The article is all about the cost of the hardware, neglecting the more significant cost: electricity.

Once you're above baseline power of 11 kWh/day (as any geek is), Southern California utilities get about $0.13/kwh marginal, with taxes, distribution, etc.

This is a calculation that depends highly on who you are and where you live.  I live in an area that recently had a 10%+ residental electric rate hike, to about 8 cents per KWH.  This is only slightly more expensive per btu than using natural gas with a 90% efficient gas heater versus a 100% efficent electric heater.  So the price difference for me to run any computer full tilt during the heating season, which is most certainly longer than Southern California, is about half a penny per kilowatt or less.  I don't even know anyone who bothers to shut down their computers from September to May to save money.  There's also someting to be said for the soothing white noise of a (good condition) cpu fan as the beast in the corner crunching numbers keeps your bedroom a couple degrees warmer so that you can turn the house thermostat down to 69 degrees at night.  I can't prove it, but I would bet that I actually save energy doing this, because otherwise my wife would insist on turning up the heat.

That's interesting. If you have no screen on then all of the energy spent is converted to heat right? So if you are heating the place anyway it is costless?

Heh, so bitcoins will be a cold climate manufactured good, lol.

6452  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Store - buy bitcoins with LR or Pecunix on: September 01, 2010, 09:41:48 AM
Damn, that was fast. Eh, did they contact you or did you remove it preemptively after reading terms or something?

BCS had contacted support on an unrelated issue -- Google Base was having trouble "claiming" our store's URL -- and while handling that support issue, Google says they noticed a policy violation, and disabled BCS's Google Checkout account.

Oh.

If you really wanted to sell via google checkout could you sell the passwords to MyBitcoin accounts that were loaded up or similar?
6453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Announcing: BitLaundry -- decorrelated payment service on: September 01, 2010, 09:19:02 AM
I was just thinking that this was something I could do!

How necessary is it though? What happens when you send yourself coins? Do they end up in a different address or not? I have two machines so I think I can do it for myself that way no matter what.
6454  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Store - buy bitcoins with LR or Pecunix on: September 01, 2010, 09:13:39 AM
Hey, sponsored link at the top of google, very nice.
6455  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Poker Room on: September 01, 2010, 09:08:28 AM
My preference would be keeping things anonymous. Since it's going to start slow, a message about when peak time is would be good.

Security is very important. Both actually being secure and finding a way to convince people that it's true. Honestly I'll play lowish stakes without worrying, but I wouldn't recommend it or play higher until there was a third party review or something. Security should be an ongoing process, too, of course. As it grows hacking it will be more and more lucrative. And the nature of bitcoin is such that once a hack is successful there is no fixing it.

I'm thinking about domain names now, I'll let you know if I think of anything decent.
6456  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Store - buy bitcoins with LR or Pecunix on: September 01, 2010, 08:38:42 AM

Google Checkout support has been removed.  Apparently they don't like digital currency.

6457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blogger: Is It Better To Buy Or Generate Bitcoins? on: September 01, 2010, 02:17:39 AM

i'm wondering anyway, why the market didn't change at all the last 2 diff.steps, watched and waited a bit, but this is it for me, i'm done generating coins.   Grin
sad thing is, that i have to wait about a month to get coins from MtGox too, but i'll at least get some more than 50btc at once, we'll need some other payment-options there quick.

nice article!

I don't know if this is the case here, but markets do anticipate things, I can't say that the difficulty increases were really surprising in any way. Profitable speculators also tend to even prices out over time. If you actually figure out how to "buy low, sell high" you are providing the service of evening out prices over time, or in the case of arbitrage, evening prices out indifferent locations.

Seems like BS to me, $50 annual fee and a transfer fee, and they aren't committed to those fees, they say they'll change them without telling you.
