6461  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for everywhere not already covered on: September 18, 2015, 04:09:18 PM
I've already got a couple of sticks. They're working great with Minera and an RPi

But now I'm thinking about building a standalone bitcoin lottery box as a christmas gift.

I think I could do this with one sick, a USB Y splitter (for overclocking if interesting), a bare RPi board, a USB powered case fan, a 4 port powered USB 2 hub, and a plastic case to house it all.

Since the Pi has a couple of USB ports, I could use one of them for a WiFi dongle instead of Ethernet. That way the box could be put anywhere in the house that has power. Of course it would still need an Ethernet jack for initial configuration.

The USB 2 hub would have to be decent enough to power the Pi, stick, fan, (and maybe a WiFi dongle) 24/7 inside an enclosure without falling over.

The challenge would be to get the entire package compact enough, be well ventilated, and look nice. A clear case would be cool because you could see the components. But that means everything has to be neat and tidy inside (not my strong suit). Maybe a black case with an LED illuminated case fan so that you can see that it's on.

I'm still mulling this over. If anyone has suggestions, let me know.

Thank you sidehack I got my production unit to play with.  It is a beautiful little stick, and has worked great so far.   I am running a RPI with raspbian and it is working well on it.

The only thing I would warn before jumping into hub with RPI is reading compatibility.  In theory all usb 2 should work.  But I found this not to be the case and it was a pain to get one working.   I had to do a few mod's before I finally got it working.  If you get one that has been tested already and order that hub your life will be much easier.
6462  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Project Assistance] Have Access To Free Electricity, but... on: September 18, 2015, 04:04:48 PM
You can do this but you won't be able to keep any of the Bitcoins or Fiat money, its belongs to the University actually.

Read your Terms and Conditions or seek an advisor.

It was the director of the Department who approved this idea, why I figured it was legit.
Cool But still, get it in writing that any income from it belongs to you and not the University. Better safe than sorry Wink

I think this is important.   Does the university pay for the projects?  Or are you footing the bill on the miner?

Get permission first before sinking money into a miner.   And if you have a good advisor it can make a huge difference.  I have had good and bad one's and you would be surprised how much of a difference an advisor on your side can make.

Hello

what is the best site to earn free bitcoin fast and get rich if possible

we need your suggestions for the paying sites only

i suggest you "bitcointalk.org"
you can learn many science and technology about bitcoin, and you can earn at same time with sign campaig Wink

Specifically full member rank.  Below you will not gain a ton.  But once you hit full member it changes on pay a lot.

Make sure you take time to practice good posts with good content in early phase such as newbie, and certainly through member.  Then you stand a better chance at getting in a good campaign.
6464  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do you believe with bitcoin on: September 18, 2015, 03:56:35 PM
Bitcoin has all the property one can have full faith within it. I strongly believe on bitcoin. On a decentralized digital money system who will issue the coins. So, it's automatically generated. It's simple point to show the fairness of bitcoin. We all can believe bitcoin.

I think asking this question here is not a fair place for anwser.  It's like going to an apple release and ask if they like apple products... your results will be skewed from being at a pro apple place.

In this case the most popular bitcoin forum.. . will chances are believe more then just a random sample of people.  For example go to my grandparents they will not believe currently.   I think age partially effects it aswell.

But you need to find a more even place to ask this.
6465  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: earn bitcoins quickly on: September 18, 2015, 03:53:07 PM
Yes scam people on the forum by offering a Bitcoin too money transfer service or learn to crack private keys  Cheesy

Is it possible to crack private keys ??
I think it is impossible or it might take ages to  be cracked
I saw a video on youtube that said it takes millions of year with the highest available computer now to do this

Depends on password.  Most it is pretty much impossible.  But if someone sends the person help saying lets say they know most of the password, and tells the part they know it goes down a lot.

So if they give the person cracking it lets say the first 8 out of 12 characters to the password chances are much greater then someone brute forcing the 12 chars.   But most will be much longer.

6467  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining Profitable? on: September 18, 2015, 03:44:02 PM
Assuming you don't have a current rig to set up, is it still possible to make money mining?  I am thinking not because of electricity cost/etc.  But I just wanted to come ask the question that has been asked numerous time since the start,

Can you actual profit by purchasing rigs and mining?

There is so many varibles not a one size fits all anwser.  For example electricity is very important.  What is your electricity?  Does your country have a vat/import tax? If so how much?

You really have to do your own ROI math as just to many varibles for it to be as I call one size fit's all.
6468  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Preparing small S7 setup - Grandpa's basement on: September 18, 2015, 03:42:27 PM
Have you gained anything from mining since 2013? Or is it only for fun?

The biggest danger there is the ROI time, just pray for S8's to not show up before you ROI.

I don't think praying will help.  I think a S7+ or S8 will show up before most ROI.   I doubt they wait for all these S7's to roi  before next model.

But I could be wrong.
6469  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP Bitcoin installation problems on s5 on: September 18, 2015, 03:40:48 PM
https://electrum.org/#android this is the link and the s5 is a Samsung Android. I don't want to mine yet don't know enough about it. So I'm not using linux

When you say S5 we all assume the miner on this forum.  I really would not suggest running your wallet on your phone besides a little bit of spending money.

Look  into cold wallets they will do you much more good over time.
6470  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 18, 2015, 03:38:17 PM
Based on what I saw, I'd estimate Bitmain was replaceing S5's with S7s for 2 months at most, and possibly with S5+ for a month or two before that (and then likely sold those S5+ as "new" units once they got the S7 into production).

I don't believe for a microsecond that the S7 has been in production for 6+ months.

When you say what you saw what are you referring to?  Did you get to see a plant? Just hashing online?   What specifically?
6471  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 18, 2015, 03:37:14 PM
Confucius says: Man that needs loan to buy bitcoin miners, has hole in pocket

Very wise

I would agree.  I only invest my own money in mining.   I can't imagine taking a loan for a miner.

So much is unknown just like difficulty.  I can't guarantee I will ROI so how can I risk others money on that same investment.  I do it out of a hobby I love, and a hope of ROI.

Confucius says: Man that uses his own money to buy bitcoin miners, has overdraft bank account.

Confucius is wrong.  Confucius should only spend some of his money on a hobby not all Smiley
6472  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: September 18, 2015, 03:35:03 PM
Got my production unit today in the mail.  Thanks sidehack and novak!

Below is setup I will be working on today.   It has the original test black unit, reviewer gold unit, and finnaly the great looking green production unit.

Have been playing with them basically it was plug and play.   I had the hub sorted out before I received my unit so that helped out.

I am running a RPI 1  B with Raspbian and normal cgminer 4.9.2 set up for Icarus.  It detected it and has ran for around a day now.  So the test stick, reviewer stick, and production stick are all working in this.
6473  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Hands On] Bitmain AntMiner S5+ - Notlist3d on: September 18, 2015, 03:31:37 PM
I received today a parcel from China .

Inside were two blades from  S5 +

View the last image. One of the radiator is already off.

Of course, they did not send me a new FAN to replace the damaged fan...
Shitmain Chinese warranty in all its glory.

I decided not to buy any more S7.

I have already sent back to China 3 x S5+ hashing boards.
Shipping  costs total over 120 euro.

S7 has the same miserable Design as  S5+.
And it is really a poor thermo adhesive clue , which they used for S5+.  You also can not put a new and better clue themselves.
You can not just remove  the old glue.

If something happens to one of the S7 blades, you have to send back to China at the own  expense  over half a kilo radiators.

I'm disappointed with the heatsink falling off.  I was hoping they would treat them like gold with RMA and get you perfect boards.

Was one heatsink all that fell off? Or did others seem loose?
6474  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread sept 17th. to sept 30th Picks are closed. on: September 18, 2015, 03:28:43 PM
I really hope the "(+2.90%) for now" is close to get back to the 2 percent norm would be nice.  I'm still not sure though I think there are still a lot of S7's to be made.  Hashnest specifically I think would be a batch itself.
6475  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread sept 4th. to sept 17th Picks are open. on: September 18, 2015, 03:27:12 PM
+4.01% to +4.25% please or closest if thats taken.
Congrats man.

Defintally congratz.  I did not see it being less then 5 but I am happy I was wrong.
6476  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: First attempt at mining: Raspberry Pi + 1 Antminer U2 on: September 17, 2015, 07:23:35 PM
Hello guys, i'll update soon! It passed more than a year and the miner has continued working almost endlessly, maybe someone is interested in the results and statistics!

Thanks for sharing, looking forward to following your progress. Can you share how much you paid in total and how long it took you to setup?

I had already the raspberry around so i didn't have to buy it, anyways i paid 30$ for it more than two years ago. The USB miner costed 13$ so in total i spent 43$ for this set up! It took a really little time to st up, i just installed Minepeon which is perfect for mining with the Pi, and then started mining. It took less than an hour Smiley

Someone can suggest me how can i find out how much i spent in energy with my Pi so i can create useful statistics?

I would think a kill-a-watt would show it.  But it might be so low it will have problems.  Not sure have not used it on RPI.

RPI's are pretty amazing I have been using one to control Avalon 4.1's it works great on controlling it.   And started using one lately for sidehacks stick's it works great.  I have become a fan of RPI.
6477  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: for newbies signature campaign 2015 on: September 17, 2015, 07:20:18 PM
Is there a new signature campaign for newbies  ?

They have really not changed much for a while.  It is a few that focus on newbies and they have done it for quite a while.  I think they are here to stay as it does not pay out much really.

It is better then faucet money in most cases.  Just be careful to not to spam trying to make more.
6478  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: September 17, 2015, 07:06:25 PM
i wanted to ask how to get my account on this forum in better member status and best ways increase activity points?

Ranking here is by account maturity. As long as you post 1 post every activity period you are entitled to get the maximum 14 activity period for that period and so on. For more details refer here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

Also something important to put some new think spamming is going to get them to gain activity quicker.  This is not true as the 14 per activity period.

Yeah many think that by posting so much here can rank up their account fast like in the other forum. Actually earlier my newbie friend are rushing to gained some post here but the problem is they are busy in their department that he can't faced posting here. I told him that it is ok since his activity will still at maximum available for that period and I explained all the details. Unfortunately he still not get how the activity goes here lol. Is it that hard to understand how the activity goes here? lol.

Tell him really only 1 post a day and he will rank up.    Might be a good idea to do 2 on one day to keep ahead.  But it really does not take hardly any posts.

With newbies on posts it really is a time to learn.  And with only one post a day they will have more then enough time to learn a lot.  But a lot will join a sig campaign on newbie level and worry about making lots of posts.  Quality is better than quantity.

6480  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: September 17, 2015, 06:12:10 PM
Many ways to earn 1 BTC for a year here. become full member and join available signature campaign, if you are active enough

if you're a full member and going to join a signature campaign with at least 0.0005 btc per post and with max post limit of 100 per week then you can earn 0.05btc / week which is equal to 0.2 btc / month then you can earn 1 btc in just 5 months! not bad as your extra income Grin

This is why I suggest newbie account's not to worry about signature campaigns till member or reallly full member.  At full member the pay goes up drastically.

During newbie phase you will not make a ton for doing a campaign.   Just much more worth it down the line.
