OK motherfuckers, here is the plan;

Most of us are in the Northern hemisphere, and it's getting colder anyway.  Blow the dust out of all those long obsolete miners and point them at BCH for now, do NOT point them at BTC yet.

It is a small gesture compared to the attack farms to be sure, but for many of us it is all we can realistically do, aside from hodling and running full nodes.

Be ready at forktime and switch all hash to BTC, hey, you got to heat the house anyway right?

I know, drop in the bucket, but it can't hurt.

Quote
The choice between the legacy bitcoin and 2x is a choice between a continuously proven and non-censorable store of value, and a provenly compromised store of value with temporarily lower transaction fees.

that CD opinion piece really nails it

No, I mean the estimated next difficulty drop of -24.87% in seven days. Is this chart off?

People need to accept things are going to go to shit for a couple months while the dust settles over SW2X.   Everyone would be better off just going to beach resort for a couple months and forgetting about the whole thing and let it all blow over.

hey jberher,  if you need a job after all this, drop me a line.

Can't see why I might, but thanks.

After all, even if I wasn't sitting on big bags o' Bitcoin, I have a lucrative career. Of course, I have informed by boss I'll be out the door once I finish two projects. But I get regular inquiries from headhunters, so I think I'm OK even in the unlikely event that crypto does shit the bed.

I imagine so.

Whatever happens, you are a superlative propagandist, and I mean that in the best way.  I truly hope that you believe your line...if not, you should sell that dearly my friend.  Do not give that shit away.

So is the general consensus that everyone's going to dump their s2x coins asap?
To get at my keys I'd have to travel to Antarctica, dig down through 40M of ice, disarm the traps (non trivial undertaking even knowing how they are set up) cut open the welded shut vault and then defrost the Pentium 3 inside.

pffft ... and you call that security?

To get my keys I'd have to travel to Kilimanjaro, hike up to a cave guarded by Chaga clan's finest warriors where the climax of a violent ritual releases the participant into the inner caves and there a map and keys to a secret location on a remote Pacific atoll housing a base for an ultra-deep submarine, guarded by native Melanesian ninjas, from where the submarine is used to dive to the greatest depths achievable in the Mariana trench where the seed phrase etched onto a titanium plaque is only readable by a special microscope.

god      dayum

Imma have to up my game

I don't know about "general consensus"

To get at my keys I'd have to travel to Antarctica, dig down through 40M of ice, disarm the traps (non trivial undertaking even knowing how they are set up) cut open the welded shut vault and then defrost the Pentium 3 inside.

Just too much trouble.

ooooh, my bad, yeah 52,560GB

still, I'm not at all sure what my connectivity provider is going to say about 6GB/hour

and god forbid you get a corrupted sync and have to redownload, takes me like 3 days now

TORQUE!!!

<bro fist> Sorry, was away for awhile tending to some things.  Smiley

Btw this is unrelated to my going dark, but for years I had heard the rumors of certain Legendary users being approached by other anonymous users with offers to sell their accounts to them. And even rumors that some had taken them up on it.

Well... it's now happened to me too. "Name your price", he said. I find it all amusing. Just know that I am a person of integrity and would never do something like that, no matter what the offer was. Anyone who wants to buy your account intends to impersonate you and do bad things with it.  No thanks.

I really don't know why I got so worried.  I fully expect that you are well able to fend for yourself, so I apologize for having any doubts.

The $5 wrench has been looming ever larger in my thoughts as the sums involved become ever more motivating.

I think it may be near time for some of us to reevaluate our personal security arrangements.

Further, you realize that the 8MB 'limit' is merely a setting, right?

yeah, so y'all flip a bit and all of a sudden I'm building an addition on my house to house the 19" racks to store a 1GB block every 10 minutes...hell, that's only 52.56PB a year, what could possibly go wrong?
6480  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 03, 2017, 07:08:01 PM
My take on these different fork coins is as follows: Although 2 MB blocks is not bad, BCH is dysfunctional and since it does not work properly, it's useless.

BTG really has no future, the idea of going back to using GPU:s for mining is a nice idea and full of bitcoin nostalgia. But there is already a bunch of coins that you can mine using your GPU, and BTG has no upside in relation to  those coins.

SW2X on the other hand has both big blocks and Seg Wit, and that is in my opinion better than BTC:s SW1X. However, their attempt to kidnap the bitcoin name with a hardfork with no replay protection and their poor dev team makes the majority of users dislike them. That and the fact that people because of the high BTC price likes status quo will probably make them fail.

Spot on with every point made here, couldn’t have put it any better myself.

except the 2MB typo for BCH, 8, but otherwise spot on
