6461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pacquiao Vs Mayweather 2 on: July 23, 2019, 02:18:41 PM
I don't think that this will happen. Thurman was saying that he could get 1 million PPV buys for his fight versus Pacquiao. But in the end they got only around 400,000. The total revenue was somewhere in the region of $60 million and this is not going to make Floyd change his mind. He got $300 million for his last fight, if I am not wrong.
6462  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin seems to drop faster than rises on: July 23, 2019, 02:05:55 PM
It seems to me that while BTC clearly goes up over time, the drops seem much more steep eg x 2 or 3 than the rises almost always.

Why is this?

It seems the one predictable thing about BTC.

What you had posted makes no sense at all. If it was true, then Bitcoin could have gone down heavily instead of rising from $3,200 per coin to $10,000 per coin during the last 3 months. Also, one thing I would like to point out. During the current bull rally, the spikes were always very sharp and short-lived, and the drops were moderate and lengthier in duration.
6463  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 66.5%, alts lagging behind on: July 23, 2019, 01:51:55 PM
What's the conclusion? better buy a little bit of btc than full bags of alts.

A lot of the noobs still think that Bitcoin is more "expensive" when compared to the alts. That's is like illogical thinking. The users are only thinking about the price per coin, while ideally they should be looking at the market cap. For example, the proponents of ETH argue that the price of their coin is just $220 and that of BTC is $10,000 and therefore ETH is much cheaper than BTC. But they conveniently hide the fact that the total supply of ETH is many times higher than that of Bitcoin.
6464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 22, 2019, 05:22:32 PM
I wonder how much these fighters make in the fight? Is it already published online?
Manny is guaranteed to receive $10 million plus the revenue of the PPV while Thurman will receive $2.5 million, that's what i read on the news. As for Thurman, they say that is the biggest paycheck he would receive in his career.

That sounds minuscule when compared to the $300 million that Floyd Mayweather received for his last fight. And I am not sure whether the figure quoted above is corrected or not. In addition to the fixed purse, Pacquiao may get an additional cut from the PPV revenue and gate collections. Fox hasn't released the figures, but I expect somewhere around 400K PPV buys. At $74.99 per buy, it works out to $30 million just from the PPV.
6465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 22, 2019, 05:07:28 PM
^^^^ Their biggest upset victory was against West Indies in 1996, during the world cup. And back then, West Indies was one of the powerhouses. Steve Tikolo and Maurice Odumbe formed the backbone of the Kenyan team then. Thomas Odoyo played in that match as a 17-year old. After the retirement of Tikolo and Odumbe, the responsibility fell on his shoulders. Had he hailed from some test nation, then Thomas Odoyo would have become a cricketing legend.

6466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: July 21, 2019, 05:47:55 AM
Although I feel bad about the Zimbabwe cricketers, I support the decision by the ICC. Zimbabwe no longer deserves the test status and $50 million per year funding by the ICC (Afghanistan and Ireland receives only a fraction of that amount). The basic problem with Zimbabwe is not politics. The real problem is the lack of interest in cricket from the native black population. The white population has gone down from 250,000 to 30,000 in two decades and they can no longer rely on this rapidly shrinking pool for player selection. It's sad, but Zimbabwe is going the same route as Kenya. Rather than wasting the funds on Zimbabwe, the ICC should use it in countries where cricket is popular (Nepal, Papua New Guinea.etc).
6467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 21, 2019, 05:40:20 AM
The first of 10 T20 World Cup qualifiers start tomorrow with Singapore v Qatar, these matches may not mean much to most people on here however its good to see how these countries are coming along as most are new to playing cricket. Nepal looks to be the best team in this tournament and should qualify for the T20 World Cup. Not sure how the other countries go as I haven't seen them play much, Qatar I believe are an okay team.

This is not the first T20WC 2020 qualifier. Out of the 5 regions, 3 have completed the regional qualifying tournaments. The Asian qualifier will start from tomorrow, and a total of 5 teams are taking part. The last is the American qualifier, scheduled for August.

I am not very excited about this format. They have given only one slot for Asia (only the winner of the regional qualifier will participate in the global qualifying tournament), while they gave two slots each to Africa and Americas. Asia has some very strong teams like Nepal and Malaysia, and this is very unfair to them. On the other hand, weak teams such as the USA and Bermuda are being given cakewalks, so that they can qualify for the global qualifier.

Only 4 teams are taking part in the American qualifier (Canada, USA, Bermuda, Caymans) and two will go to the global qualifying tournament. It is very unfair to give these teams an advantage when compared to Nepal/Malaysia/Singapore.

Thurman was knocked down in Round 1 so Pacman has a chance to win via split decision even Thurman is a defending champion. Congratulation for those who bet for Manny Pacquiao with a lot of BTC. I win too but it's a small amount of BTC only.  Cheesy

That was the turning point. The first round went 10-8 to Pacquiao, and after that it became really difficult for Thurman to catch up. We expected Thurman to win a majority of the rounds from 8-12 (which he did), but that was not enough to neutralize the advantage Pacquiao gained during the initial rounds. Frankly, no one expected Thurman to get knocked down during the first round. I think he was a bit overconfident (which was evident from all the trash-talk). And when someone does trash talk and loses the fight, it doesn't look good. Thurman's career is pushed back by a few years after this defeat.

For those who missed the fight, here are the highlights (first round known down at 4:20): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ilvczAb5CI

OK... Official Results!!!!

Manny Pacquiao beat Keith Thurman on split decision!!!!!

Scores by juror: Pacquiao/Thurman

Glenn Feldman 113/114
Dave Moretti 115/112
Tim Cheatham 115/112

The next fight for Pacquiao is against Amir Khan (Nov 8, 2019 - Saudi Arabia). After that I think it can be Pacquiao vs Mayweather 2 or Pacquiao vs Canelo.
6470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 21, 2019, 05:00:08 AM
Fight is over!!!!!

According to CBS Sports, Thurman wins 114-113

As per The Guardian, Pacquiao wins 115-112

It is up to the judges and I think Thurman has the "American advantage".

It can't be a draw, because Pacquiao had one 10-8 round.
6471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 21, 2019, 04:53:03 AM
Pacquiao wins Round 10. The only way Thurman can win is if he is able to KO Pacquiao. Now it is 99.99% confirmed that Pacquiao is going to win. But you never know, how these American judges score it in the end.

Thurman wins Round 11. Scores as of now:

CBS Sports: 104-104
The Guardian: 105-103 (in favor of Pacquiao)
6472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 21, 2019, 04:43:56 AM
According to the CBS Sports, Pacquiao at 67, Thurman at 65. As per The Guardian, Pacquiao at 68, Thurman at 64.

It looks to me that Pacquiao is having a comfortable lead, as per all the sources.

The official scores will be available only after the end of the 12th round.

Edit: After Round 9, CBS Sports have them tied 85-85. Pacquiao leading 86-84 as per the Guardian.

Edit 2: Thurman is badly hurt.
6473  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-18] IDEX set to begin transition period for KYC and AML compliance on: July 20, 2019, 06:47:04 AM
Sad to see the FBI targeting the decentralized exchanges. They should have left them alone, as they don't do any fiat to crypto or crypto to fiat trading. They are used only for crypto-to-crypto trading. But then, challenging the FBI is not an option, as we have seen what happened to BTC-e after they did so. Anyway, lets hope that there will be a change in the regulations.
6474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Stop Blaming Bounty Hunter! on: July 20, 2019, 06:33:48 AM
I saw many tokens listed in the market and the price are dumping even the bounty tokens are lock.
This is not to blame on hunters it is the early buyers who get double coins.
If the project team is very confident on their project they should not send tokens to participants.
they should replace it to BTC or ETH.

You should stop repeating this again and again. During the past 2-3 years, hundreds, if not thousands of users have requested at least a part of the bounty to be paid in either BTC or ETH. But the project promoters don't feel any need to do this, because there are huge numbers of bounty hunters available who are willing to work for slave like conditions.
6475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why would you sell an altcoin right at the very bottom on: July 20, 2019, 06:23:59 AM
From what I have seen during the last three years, in case the exchange rate for an altcoin goes down by 80% or more, then the chances are that it will never recover and within the next two-three months the trading will cease and the coin will die out. So even if the coin is down by quite a bit, it is always better to book the losses and make the exit.
6476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 20, 2019, 06:16:42 AM
Yeah Thurman is not an easy opponent. Only if Manny has no speed then he will be defeated but with the current situation, Manny has it power and speed so betting on Manny even with this small odds is worth it than betting on Thurman.

I have a feeling that so many people here are over-estimating the chances of Manny Pacquiao. At the best, I would give equal chances to Pacquiao and Thurman. But current odds, like 1.5 for Pacquiao and 2.5 for Thurman looks very difficult to digest for someone like me. I agree that Pacquiao is a legend and commands huge fan following. But Thurman is in very good form recently and during the past few years he has beaten a few big names. And another factor is that the fight is happening in the US and Thurman hails from there.
6477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 20, 2019, 06:03:48 AM
With his latest fight, Manny Pacquiao's retirement still not in sight it former controversial foe, Mayweather, is not ibterested anymore in another fight. In his new fight, Thurman is capable to knock like what he said in a recent press interview so Pacquiao should not take him lightly. Pacquiao might also using this fight to promote his own coin to be listed ina new exchange.

I don't think that Manny vs Mayweather 2 will ever get realized. Floyd is retired for all practical purposes and he does not have the interest in coming out of retirement to fight anyone. Even in case he comes out of his retirement, it will be for a new opponent. He is no longer looking for another fight with Pacquiao, as evident from his statements.
6478  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where do you think Bitcoin will be by the end of 2019? on: July 20, 2019, 04:57:37 AM
Hi Bitcointalk!

Curious to know your predictions on pricing, new projects, news and whatever else may be significant to Bitcoin by the end of the year.

 Smiley

Here are my predictions, for the situation by the end of this year (2019).

2. The transaction fee may increase to somewhere around $10 on average (BTC0.00025 per transaction).
3. Bitcoin dominance may increase to somewhere around 75%
4. BCH will rise to no.4 position displacing LTC
5. Tether will be among the top 5 coins by market cap
6479  Economy / Economics / Re: If the government supports bitcoin instead of the existing currency. on: July 20, 2019, 04:50:28 AM
Some of the governments are tolerating the existence of Bitcoin now, but that shouldn't be taken as a sign that in future Bitcoin is going to be legal everywhere. Right now the number of users is a few tens of millions (I am counting only the active users) and just 1% of the coins are being used for illegal transactions. But the government response will change if the user-base expands.
6480  Economy / Economics / Re: Will BTC defeated in 2019? on: July 20, 2019, 04:40:50 AM
At the start of this year, Bitcoin was waging a lone battle for dominance, against the 10,000+ different altcoins and tokens. It was weakened by forks such as BCH, BTG and BSV. Even after all this, the altcoins were unable to defeat Bitcoin. The dominance has increased from around 50% to 66% as of now. The market share of the alts, meanwhile has gone down from 45% to 29%.
