6481  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: AirGapped Hardware Wallets on: October 08, 2021, 10:54:29 AM
I could never fall victim to this attack because not only does my airgapped device not have any ethernet cables attached to it, but it does not even have an ethernet port in which to connect an ethernet cable.
I don't know what kind of magical computer you are using but 99% of computers today have ethernet ports and you don't need to connect internet cable to be affected by this attack.

6482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshi symbol on: October 08, 2021, 10:38:29 AM
We talked about satoshi symbols many times and I don't think that all people will ever agree about using one standard symbol for that, and I am not a fan of using some japanese symbols that look like some other altcoins.
6483  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: AirGapped Hardware Wallets on: October 06, 2021, 07:32:52 PM
Newly discovered LANtenna Attack for airgapped devices was found recently, creating wireless signals with ethernet cable to steal data secrets from airgapped systems.
Malicious code can be sent from airgapped computers that don't have any internet connection, bluetooth or wi-fi, simply using $1 antenna via ethernet cables.

6484  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What the heck is Blockstream doing now? on: October 06, 2021, 02:26:28 PM
Liquid network was down for more than 20 hours yesterday after activating hard fork, and they reported an issue with block signing related to a recent functionary upgrade.
This was worse than some shitcoin outages we saw before and I don't see any difference here, this is totally centralized solution and nobody should trust storing any coins stored there.
Imagine any network being down for almost a day... this is not looking good at all.
Quote
The root cause was determined to be a failing consistency check for the value of the consensus parameter signblock_witness_limit. In the Liquid production network, this value is hardcoded in Elements and included in the headers of the first DynaFed block.

6485  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Passphrase question on: October 06, 2021, 09:45:59 AM
Do you think it's better for security that passphrases have spaces between words or not?
Space is consider as character in passphrase, but some people may made a mistake and ignore them.

For example in this random six word passphrase:
Code:
penny demand local fellowship railroad happen
or
Code:
pennydemandlocalfellowshiprailroadhappen

This two are obviously totally different passphrases even if they contain exact same six words, and only difference is spaces.
Do you know what option has better entropy and why?
6486  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Machine on: October 05, 2021, 07:47:45 PM
Search for "fanless laptops" Smiley
No I won't, they are heating like crazy even if they have fans, and like I said before I am much more a fan of RaspberryPi devices, that are cheaper, smaller, and they don't produce any noise.
6487  Economy / Reputation / Re: [NEED DT ATTENTION] payjoe93 and his alt cheating in Roobet ART contests! on: October 05, 2021, 02:23:38 PM
As salesman, i know how to make money..
You are a lousy salesman and you stole money from other honest people.

By the way, It's okay if that means cheating.. i'll take the consequences..
Nothing better than when cheater admits he was cheating.

I just dont like his attitude since the logo contest we both participated which I won and he cried
He is pathetic clown, who is never going to participate in any contest in this forum.
6488  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Machine on: October 04, 2021, 06:42:44 PM
Meh, it's not as bad as you may think. I ran a MacBook for years almost exclusively at home on continuous connection to the power supply and its battery is now totally normal for its age (it still lasts for multiple hours). And you can get batteries for older laptops quite cheaply. What I like most about it is that it's like a built-in UPS!
I was speaking from personal experience of netbook battery being destroyed like that and it was working perfectly before that.
UPS is much different thing, but many experts say that if you want to keep your laptop 24/t you should remove your battery and just use only direct power cable connection.
I am freak for silence, so if there is a way to run Bitcoin node without any noise I would always choose that, being that Bitcoin Machine or regular Rpi device.
6489  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Urgent can I restore trezor without their device? on: October 04, 2021, 06:21:23 PM
Did I make a mistake that I used exodus? are all funds are gone? or simply should I use the same 12 private keys on new Trezor device at it will be fine?
All coins will be restored if you use new trezor device and import seed phrase, but if someone found your trezor device he could in theory extract and steal your coins.
That is why you should move your coins once you restore your wallet.
Derivation path can be different for altcoins, so I am not sure if any wallet will work for restoring, it's a shitshow with that.
6490  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Urgent can I restore trezor without their device? on: October 04, 2021, 06:14:59 PM
Urgent can I restore trezor without their device?
i dont have device anymore.
You can restore your wallet if you have seed word backup like you should in safe place.
Simply import seed words to new Trezor device or to any other supporting cold wallet, and I would suggest sending coins to different freshly generate address from new seed words.
You should never again use old seed words!

i need to restore it urgently i have 20k there and the password is 111
i lost my trezor.
Your password is not so important and you can do reset for that, but passphrase is a different story.
Any wallet supporting BIP39 would be ok for restoring.
6491  Economy / Economics / Re: For every $269 in bitcoin, $4,672 of tax payer money is spent on: October 04, 2021, 06:07:05 PM
I checked the history of news on this elsalvador.com website nd it is clear they are writing only anti-bitcoin articles for some time, and this study was made by only ONE University professor Carlos Martínez.
I am not claiming anything but how much would bankers and IMF had to pay to one professor from El Salvador to write something against Bitcoin?  Smiley
He is not taking in account future value of Bitcoin and the fact that government is not selling those Bitcoin now.
6492  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: WalletConnect Linux? on: October 04, 2021, 05:56:56 PM
Due to privacy converns i won't use Metamask.
It makes no sense that you won't use open source metamask wallet but you are willing to use some unknown closed source wallet  called infinity.

One more option you have is using hardware wallets that support WalletConnect (ledger live, safepal, ellipal, coolwallet, dcent...), however, I think that most of them are also closed source.
6493  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pandora papers <== They said Bitcoin was used to avoid taxes! Think again on: October 04, 2021, 04:28:08 PM
If you are still trusting anything your government and politicians are telling you, then I have to say that I am sorry but you have been totally brainwashed and borderline stupid human being.
You don't have to study just this Pandora papers, you can also study history and see that politicians are making rules and regulations only for slave classes and they are always exempted from this.
Pandora papers are only a small drop in ocean of greed and corruption, and I am not sure if Bitcoin or anything else can fix this but at least we don't have to witness non-stop lying and manipulations.
Step one: throw away your stupid TV propaganda machine.
Step two: start using Bitcoin

6495  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [BETA] blindmixer.com - Next-gen mixer | Chaumian Bank | Lightning | Blinded on: October 04, 2021, 10:51:51 AM
Not sure what this is supposed to prove either. Yes, we are a new service. You should treat us with caution as you would do with any other centralized entity. What, you wanted us to own this domain for several years? What exactly would that prove? I'm thoroughly confused.
I was not trying to prove anything, just posted information that you purchased domain recently, and I would hardly call your service new, when it's totally cloned word to word from old dead moneypot wallet website.
For any mixer to be functional it needs to have good liquidity and I am sure your blindmixer (including ex moneypot) never had any liquidity, but you are free to prove me wrong.
I could be only one using the wallet and since there is nobody else sending coins, I would always receive my coins back, in case custodian decides to scam me, than I end up with nothing.

The custodian can also run off with your funds at any point, indeed, as any other centralized mixer can. I think we are making this very clear in the OP, no?
Maybe, but I would argue that risk is much higher using your website that is still in beta, than some proven mixers that exist for years.

(Okay, apart from gangsters... I guess you could call us gangsters given the lack of rep we have Tongue. We fully recognize it's good to be fearful.)
Fearful of what? Surely not about some dead blind project... Roll Eyes
I didn't know what better term to use for custodians than gambling gangster, and that is nothing personal against your service, and I didn't know how better to describe when someone can break the deal whenever he wants.
6496  Economy / Economics / Re: Gavin Andresen prediction for Bitcoin in 2061 on: October 03, 2021, 07:57:20 PM
I don’t think he’s gone to the dark side. I think that many of us early Bitcoiners had a vision for Bitcoin that was suddenly railroaded by unnecessary man-implemented limits that turned Bitcoin from something that could free the world from financial oppression, into a get rich quick scheme to assimilate into the existing system. If satoshi were still alive, I think he would be more aligned with Gavin’s desire for Bitcoin’s future than Blockstream’s.
I didn't know you are one of those Faketoshi supporters like Gavin Andresen, and Satoshi would never be aligned with Gavin's thinking about Bitcoin future, in the same way like he didn't agree with him when he went to talk with government agencies... Satoshi disappeared soon after that.
Handing over stuff to Gavin was probably one of the biggest mistake Satoshi did and I think he realized that quickly.
Maybe I don't like what Blockstream is doing but I don't have to pick sides in this case, and it's totally unrelated with this topic.
6497  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: October 03, 2021, 07:09:42 PM
I prefer to customise it for you and sell you a print or printable file Smiley
Cool project and I think I saw similar thing recently when I wrote about metal seed backups.
I see you written nice Bitcoin Talk, so do you have your own stamping tools and letters or you borrowed it?

What about rust? I know that's usually not a problem with washers I've had laying around forever, but if it holds crucial information, I wouldn't mind oiling them before bolting them together. Especially since this won't be in a normal drawer but probably somewhere well hidden.
They are stainless steel washers, rostfrei, meaning free from rust, but it is possible to develop some rust during long periods of time, under special conditions or if weaker alloy is used.
I think that painting would be a better protection solution than oiling them.
6498  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Btc Withdraw Network and Segwit Question on: October 03, 2021, 05:39:34 PM
Your account is like a troll one. Create multiple topics with same questions and something you can easily to get answers with a few clicks from your side, with your own account.  Roll Eyes

I have to criticize everyone who still continues to feed this jerry0 troll answering his fake questions all the time.
He is probably using some chinese translation tool to copy-paste record amount of posts in short time span, so maybe someone could investigate if all those questions have been asked before in different language somewhere.
6499  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [BETA] blindmixer.com - Next-gen mixer | Chaumian Bank | Lightning | Blinded-Sig on: October 03, 2021, 05:23:25 PM
I really don't see any real advantage of using your wallet compared to centralized exchange, and we can argue that it's much bigger chance of you getting hacked and customers losing money.
Depositing to some centralized service like blindmixer just to save on fees is so stupid and could cost you much more down the line.

blindmixer brings lightning to the average Joe. No longer will you be required to set up your own node, or use a separate wallet for your lightning transactions. blindmixer allows you to pay and generate invoices from the comfort of the same wallet.
This is nothing special to blindmixer, many lightning wallets are custodial and they don't require from users to set up own nodes, but that is much less secure and users have no control over coins.

Quote
Help! I have to trust blindmixer and/ or the custodian operator blindly?
Unfortunately, yes...
https://blindmixer.com/faq

That means that custodian can change dates, make wipes whenever he wants, so it's more like you are keeping coins with some gambling gangster and you need to trust him.
You can even receive your own coins back, that is unacceptable if we are taking about mixer, so this word should be removed from your service, it's just a centralized gambling wallet.

6500  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best Bitcoin ATM to buy for inside your home? on: October 03, 2021, 09:59:43 AM
I would probably go with Lamassu Industries Bitcoin ATM, they have open source software that is big advantage, and you can probably find used and new devices both in Europe and North America.
There are no monthly fees, but you can pay for optional technical support subscription if you want:
