I'm currently mining on http://www.hashharder.com/fresh/ Maybe the pool calcuates my worker's hashrate with an error? It seems to be almost 2 times from what my miner shows. Anyway, what would in your opinion be the optimal settings for r290? I'm currently running

Code:
sgminer --kernel fresh -o stratum+tcp://www.hashharder.com:9668 -u addy -p x -w 256 -I 15 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --temp-cutoff 85 --lookup-gap 2

and getting about 4 Mh/s

Unless you find a USB miner for BTC in a ridiculously low price, I don't think you'll manage to make profit out of it. Maybe hybrid or scrypt miners still have a chance but I don't feel like this is going to last long either.

Use https://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/difficulty and https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty to calcuate this for yourself. Also keep in mind that the difficulty is not stable! Bitcoin's one tends to be on the rise constantly as new minimg machines come in all the time.
6503  Other / Off-topic / Re: How often do you change a new phone? on: August 02, 2014, 03:38:33 AM
My latest one got washed in the laundry by mistake. It's currently dumped in crystal cat litter haha. I read online that cat litter made out of silica (διοξείδιο του πυριτίου) could effectively absorb the moisture that was traped in my screen. It seems to be working so far. So yeah, I only change phones every time my older one dies. I'm currently using my previous device that I thankfully didn't get rid off.

Wow, I got a PM in an instant! Please provide me with an address so I can pay you! Smiley

The code was also working great. Cheesy

Are there more codes? I'd love to claim one for such a price.
6506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many addresses do you think the average bitcoin user has? on: August 02, 2014, 03:11:58 AM
Through all the wallets I've used, I've surely created more than 200 addresses. Many of them I didn't even use. But I'd never like people to associate at how much I get paid and from by simply looking at a public address through the blockchain. And there would not be a problem if eveyone would do the same. Practically, there can be 2^160 adresses. Wonder how big this number is? Let's say there are 6b humans in this earth. If we divide the max possible number of addresses to this number, each human could have 243583610000000000000000000000000000000. Also recreating the same address would be nearly impossible.

I got my payment as well! Thanks PRC! Smiley Also left some positive trust, well deserved. Thanks for being punctual and honest.
6508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pool advertising is no longer allowed on: July 31, 2014, 08:49:42 PM
Seeing flound1129 coming to post here stating that he finds this new rule ridiculous I'm starting to think that it might be the most controversial rule addition bitcointalk ever had. I'm not sure if this was a univeral decision, but I can't see a way that all members of the staff would agree to this. In fact, I personally had never seen a single person complaining about updates posted by pools. They were a really small chunk of what is beeing marked as spam. And in fact, pools are a public service. Operators rely on a (usually never more than 2%) fee to maintain them. Many of them are putting out incredible efforts and deliver amazing results for the miners. It's going to be the first time I'm coming out as a rule, but I agree with flound1129. This decision not only is ridiculous, but bans the kind of posts that were some of the most usefull among the spam. Who is going to get harmed by a single update if it's in the right section? Even if it's advertising, updates about pools adding coins are really useful if you're a miner. I'm sure most of us will know what I'm talking about. If you've ever mined you know why you need to be there as early as possible. Throw your hash to a pool before the big guns arrive. etc. etc.

This new rule is bad because not only it's going to make a mine's life harder, but it's also going to favor the older and bigger pools. This way making distributed mining for smaller coins harder. Oh and please, tell me how much spam is this rule saving us from? I understand this rule sounds somewhat reasonable, but some of those updates were actually usefull! I'm saying that there's no reason for this rule to exist, I know you'll disagree. But beeing so strict about this is not giving more to this community rather than what it takes away from it.

Things seem a little bit phishy, I'm not sure on what to make out of those two possitive comments since they're comming from newly created accounts. I still see the price moving up however. Intresting to see how the market will react to this in the upcoming days.

What's going on? Did monacoin get pumped?

6511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pool advertising is no longer allowed on: July 31, 2014, 01:01:26 PM
BadBear, you should clarify this a bit more. Pool advertising is permited entirely exept only a single post and that't the end? Of pool opperators can still advertise through signatures for example?
6512  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoin-trader.biz on: July 31, 2014, 08:05:31 AM

Hey, this seems fun. All you need is a trusted escrow. If you do not find anyone else with higher reputation, I can do it for free.

A trusted escrow to hold accounts and collect deposits for 120 days? Nah...
6513  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 31, 2014, 03:30:43 AM
Well, if the end of the month downtrend thing is true, I'd be intresting to see if the market stops being bearish wen the new month comes in.
6514  Other / Off-topic / I sent an email to this vet clinic in Gambia on: July 30, 2014, 12:53:24 PM
So there is a vet clinic in Gambia that works with stray animals. I randomly stumbled upon their youtube channel one day. They've done some amazing rescues and instantly earned my respect. I went to their website http://www.vetclinicgambia.com/ to see that they're accepting donations. Sadly they only accept paypal as a payment option and I don't use paypal. I sent them an email suggesting that they should use Bitcoin as a payment option so I can donate to them more easily, maybe you should do too. Smiley
6515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] - Which exchange should leonArdo support next? on: July 30, 2014, 07:37:34 AM
I just took a look at your showcase video for the first time. I can say that this looks quite interesting. Seeing that you're looking to add a new exchange to your platform I'd like to ask the following.

If you end up adding an exchange that focuses on altcoin trading, which currency pairs will users be able to trade through leonArdo?
6516  Economy / Gambling / Re: [dicenow.com] btc/ltc casino - 10,000 rolls per click - play/invest - multi edge on: July 30, 2014, 07:07:44 AM
Why is there nobody playing? Site works fine for me.

I have tried the site a few times. It looks a lot like when you buy a new laptop, before you format the hard drive and install an operating system on it. I guess it's a lot like Windows 8. It looks weird, bright colours, crashes a lot, runs slow, doesn't really work.

It would be good if there was an option to turn off all the weird graphic effects that don't work and just play dice.

You can choose the "simple" option from top. For me it makes the website run faster.
6517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] What anonymous coin will succed? on: July 30, 2014, 05:16:29 AM
Crypt had a 10% fall yesterday and it seems like it's still on a downtrend. Also please correnct me if I'm wrong I don't see the coin using any unique innovations on it's anonimity features. Besides it's innovative wallet the techniques used for transaction anonymization are nothing ground breaking. To me, not something to make it too special.

As someone who is looking for some small investment options I'd love to see a comeback from dicenow. It's been a while since we heard from the developers Right?

found a very interesting video, not really related to cryptocurrency, but to darkness. And we darkcoin people love darkness....

What Is The Speed of Dark?

Very interesting!

Nyctophobia - Optophobia

Damn, I can understand what those words mean even without giving me the but still, even hearing them kind of creeps me out.
6520  Economy / Speculation / Re: At what price are you going to cash out your BTC stash on: July 30, 2014, 01:31:06 AM
Well, we might even be dead tomorrow. But for me, I don't think it's going to be the price to make me cash out. Maybe personal occasions or issues.
