The 92,269,000 who did not participate in the labor force are those in the civilian noninstitutional population who did not have a job and did not actively seek one in the last four weeks. Because they did not seek a job, they did not count as “unemployed.”

So this number doesn't even include unemployed who are actively looking for a job?? But it seems to include all the students 16+... Bit confused what's the purpose of such stats...

I guess if it excludes people who are not seeking jobs, then students will automatically get excluded.

No, the 92,269,000 only includes people who are not looking for a job. So students are automatically included (except for those employed or actively looking for a job).

These stats are very confusing. Some may see them as showing real/hidden unemployment rate, some may interpret them as indicator of wealth (a growing number of people who can afford not to work). Potentially so many different people are included in that number (from criminals, through people taking care of home while their partners provide for whole family, to millionaires) that I don't know whether the increase is good or bad.
6542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some good coins to invest right now for Christmas vacation money? on: September 07, 2014, 07:29:10 PM
Lets see what you people think.

My opinion is:
BTC
LTC

Among other coins, I think hal, neos. What do you think?

Ethereum has everything to grow big, great concept, great devs, a lot of attention, and shitload of money for promotion/development. But by its design (inflation model), it may be very hard to get the ROI.

Why do you think LTC is a good investment? It will be in decline imho. It doesn't fit it's purpose after scrypt ASIC miners. It's cheaper to transfer (tx fees lower than BTC) but DOGE is even cheaper. It also doesn't seem to be actively promoted by devs/community (I can be wrong on this one).

Hello Everyone,

As the title say, I need help in storing bitcoins.

Which are the faucets where I can collect free dogecoins?
Which wallet for dogecoins is better online or offline means desktop version?

If the desktop version is better
Where can I download this wallet?
How to send, receive and store dogecoins in this wallet?

Please help.

Thank You

As Litcoincollector said, faucets are waste of time, but it's a good for a newbies to start, see how this works etc.
The best one is probably

Generally online wallets are not considered the best. You probably want to start with Multidoge desktop wallet, it's a lightweight so you don't need to download the whole blockchain dogechain. Doenload: http://multidoge.org/?dl=win
6544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you seen the new video about bitcoin from cex.io? on: September 07, 2014, 03:02:17 PM
Really nice video. But it's not new, I can swear I've seen it 1-2 months ago, around the time when g.hash owned ~50% of mining power. Remember people on reddit being pissed off that they're further promoting g.hash.

Any update of the survey results (the completed one)?
Have you decided what kind of changes will you be implementing and when? The Blog on your site it's not being updated very often...

6547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't we need an official lightweight wallet? on: September 07, 2014, 08:15:39 AM

Make a big "DOWNLOAD NOW" button that has an officially developed and supported lightweight wallet that looks cool and works smooth. Then, have computer literate people run Bitcoin QTs if they want to support the network and be nodes. The common folk shouldn't be pointed to Bitcoin QT as "the official one" because everyone is downloading "the official one" and few even bother reading about the 3rd party wallets, or they may think "why risk it, lets go with the official". So yeah, we need a lightweight, "average joe" Bitcoin QT wallet.

How is actually the 'common folk' pointed to download the Bitcoin QT? When you google "bitcoin" the first in search results is bitcoin.org, if you go to the wallets page:

https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

You got a multiple choice and a brief description of every wallet, it's all explained. And if you click 'download' (Bitcoin QT), you get this info:

You will need to be patient
Bitcoin Core initial sync can take a long time. You should make sure that you have enough bandwidth and storage for the full block chain size (over 20GB). If you know how to download a torrent file, you can speed up this process by putting bootstrap.dat (a previous copy of the block chain) in the Bitcoin Core data directory before starting the software.
6548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.8 Required Update on: September 07, 2014, 07:31:50 AM

Are the doge devs even discussing capping doge?  They must be - there is no way doge can ever go mainstream when the inflation is worse than the dollar they're running from.

There was an extensive discussion on reddit long time ago. They decided not to. Good decision, if all the coins are mined too soon - who would mine it and support the network? The reward from fees is not sufficient.

DOGE was designed to be functional currency rather than investment. The inflation is necessary and it's got nothing to do with going mainstream. As % value, the inflation will decrease every year, so if DOGE survives the first 2 years, it should be fine.

I am in favour of reducing the final block reward tho.

Dev hasn't been on here in a month...add this alt to the long, long, list of scamcoins.

Why SCAMcoin? He had no premine and he did everything in favour to users that he was able to do...we just don't have traders and investors.
You list it as we "just" don't have traders and investors, but these are the key persons for value  Cry

The fact that dev failed to attract traders/investors doesn't make him a scammer.
But if no longer intend to support it, it would be nice to be clear about it.

Is anyone still mining it?

anything moving anywhere?

Doesn't look like it is...
No activity from the dev, low hashrate, removed from bittrex, low or no trade volume. The only good thing is that the holders won't drop it at such low prices.

This coin has potential, but no effort is taken to promote it.

6551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.8 Required Update on: September 06, 2014, 09:55:05 PM

The reason I knew this is that Bitcoin will go mainstream next year but its transactions are way too expensive and when volume picks up Bitcoin will not be able to handle the transactions size.

LTC and doge [together] solve the tx volume and high tx cost issues for Bitcoin.

I agree that if bitcoin gains more popularity, it'll likely pull the DOGE up. Simply, if someone put some effort to learn about bitcoin, than he/she is very likely to try the other cryptos as well, and DOGE is one of the most popular and easier to get.

Don't really see what's the strenght of LTC nowadays tho. Bitcoin is (was and will be) more popular as both, functional currency or investment. Dogecoin has low tx fees, creates more hype and reaches to a new people. Think LTC will be slowly losing its position.
6552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OCTOBER 1 st 2014 LAST ALTCOINS WILL BE LAUNCHED SUPPORT THIS............... on: September 05, 2014, 11:47:18 PM
No more new altcoins please think in the planet. Think in Global Warming, stop of launch new coins. We have enough,Peoples be smart, peoples all miners, pools, forums, exchanges, foundations, traders, devs, somebody could give a date like to  October 1 st to dont support new coins in history of crypto so if some launch a coin after this date nobody will suport this, of this way scam will be avoid too, and cryptos launched before that date, will be in a race to give better services and raising in value.

Holy shit, you just single-handedly stopped the launch of Ethereum. Or maybe you'll grant them a permission  Grin

Seriously, the problem of shitcoins will resolve itself, I remember a days when we had 5-6 new ones everyday, that seems to slow down, people learned their lesson.

I'm guessing you've lost some BTC in an altcoin(s) 'investment', didn't you?

They do increase it every year. Don't they?

Going to have to double check that but if they do increase it every year then they probably are adjusting peoples wages for the inflation.

Yup, looks like it. All the previous changes were at ~2%. The next one, from Oct 2014 is 3%, so just slightly higher.

On June 30, just before the deadline, Russia signed a law that allows Russian banks to share the tax data of American clients with US tax authorities, but participation isn’t mandatory.

Seems like a smart move. They didn't agree nor disagree, just let the banks to decide.

Although I don't get why didn't they just say 'fuck off' to FATCA. Are they afraid that US may officially forbid they're citizens/companies to keep funds in Russian banks?
6555  Local / Polski / Re: hashprofit.com - czy warto tutaj zainwestoać? on: September 05, 2014, 06:37:20 PM

Driving MW too high is definitely not a way to go.

I agree. Sadly, those who work MW jobs generally do not. These people should be looking for jobs above minimum wage, rather than asking for the minimum wage to be raised. The only way to illustrate the point is to raise MW far too high in a very short time and make people see for themselves what happens.

LOL causing crash in economy, creating huge unemployment just to be able to say "We told you so!" is a bit extreme, and probably it will only have a very short-term educational effect.

They're planning on raising the minimum wage now here in the UK, they're re-calculating for hyperinflation.

They do increase it every year. Don't they?
6557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indonesians Can Now Buy Bitcoin at Over 10,000 Indomaret Stores on: September 05, 2014, 12:49:17 PM
indonesia is a largely islamic country, and there's evidence that ISIS is attracting some people from there to join up with them. how likely is it that ISIS uses indonesia's accessibility to bitcoins in order to help fund their operations?

Not likely at all. As for now they don't seem to have much problems with funding.

http://www.dw.de/who-finances-isis/a-17720149

Every little helps Bitcoin adoption.  But it will have zero effect on the price.

Think it'll have some positive impact, but rather small (in the short-term).
6558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Low-cost Firefox Phones Could Bring Bitcoin to Developing World on: September 05, 2014, 12:37:02 PM
Legit. We need cheap technology that can handle Bitcoin wallets if we expect global adoption. Of course I dont expect Bitcoin QT to run on there, but lightweight wallets should work smoothly I think.
This is 33$ in India, while here in the US you can buy plenty of Androids at your local walmart for 30$

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Virgin-Kyocera-Event-Touchscreen-Phone/24357305

1ghz processor (nothing amazing) but it will get the job done for bitcoin wallets.

The electronics are generally cheaper in US than in other countries. Also, maybe they have to much of those in stock and just trying to get rid off them, hence the price. So the Firefox phone can still be the cheapest smartphone available in India.
6559  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Please raise minimum wage to $15 click here for your support! on: September 05, 2014, 12:28:49 PM
Well, they're doing it in Seattle. If this spurs increased adoption of automated/robotic cashiers, restaurant staff, food preparation systems, etc, that'd be awesome.

It'll be awesome until hoards of unemployed start raiding the houses of employed ones, to get their goods. If the system is to work properly, all the low skilled (majority of population?) must have some opportunities for employment. Driving MW too high is definitely not a way to go.
6560  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoins with elections on: September 05, 2014, 11:14:32 AM
Candidates running for office would still need to gather the identity of the people giving the donations the same way they gather the identity of people giving fiat based donations.

Not required for small donations.

Quote
Under the FEC's opinion, campaign treasurers bear the responsibility for the legality of each donation, and for now virtual-currency donations are limited to $100.

http://bitcoinvox.com/article/905/more-political-candidates-accepting-bitcoin-donations

Which candidates accept BTC for donation?

This one for example:

Quote
Christina Gagnier, is not only a technology lawyer and a business owner but also she is a democrat representing  California’s 35th Congressional District. According to the latest news, she became one more US congressional candidate to accept donations in bitcoins.
