Police are individuals with their own thoughts and ideals.
Yet they claim to honor an oath to uphold the constitution Funny how that works Anyone can claim anything.

Lol, really? I heard of people waiting for a week for their coins. Doesn't sound that liquid to me. That's fiat in your bank account -> bitcoins. They need to wait for the money to be transferred from bank to bank.

Bitcoin has died about 30 times...if the media had the ability to kill it, it would have died a long time ago.

That's not how Bitcoin works. You sign your transaction on your computer. Then you send the signed transaction over the network. Anyone can view that signed transaction and they would not have your private key.
Yes, private keys from transactions can not be captured. But there are other cases where a private key is exposed. I also don't mean you can get any private key but many. Having your private key exposed on a network connected computer is vulnerable to anyone. Not just governments or ISPs. I would be more worried about a hacker if my private key is not behind encryption or in cold storage.

With that formula Bitcoin should be a useful currency in about 5000 years.
A currency with a slow gradual rise is not useful? What is your definition of a useful currency? A currency that is useful to me is where people near me accept it for goods and services. And a linear formula would prevent this? No. Your linear formula would prevent it if it were actually the case. Imagine if cell phone production rate had stymied to your rate of production. We would still require a car to move them around and global society would not have facebook in their pocket. If bitcoin does not show growth as a store of value, nobody will value it to store their value. At the linear formula's rate the price would be up about 50% in one year. Double in 2 years. Most conservative investments expect to double in around 20 years.

But the thing is Bitcoin still CAN be controlled by governments. Remember the Chinese government backlash against BTC late last year? All it takes is for a government to ban it outright. Sure, there will still be users on the black market but the mainstream will see it as something illegal and something that is not worth their time. That is how governments can control Bitcoin.
I agree, what with all of the China exchanges going away and no more Bitcoin in China anymore. The proof is in the pudding. That's not proof in the slightest, all they've done is shut down some exchanges, I have yet to see them attempt to stop people from making direct transactions in Bitcoin, for all this talk about getting away from government on this forum you guys sure don't think that way sometimes and are quick to despair when they take the ability to trade for fiat currency. Just so you know, even if they took down all the trading exchanges in the UK that deal in pound I would still be able to trade Bitcoin for gold and sell that off. Ya, I was being sarcastic considering China has the highest volume of all exchanges...China should ban some more to increase the volume even more. okcoin btcchina huobi lakebtc

Why? More like How? I understand how shorting works in theory, but has anybody actually tried to short BTC? I'm having a hard time buying it, much less shorting it. Any actual experiences appreciated. Do the exchanges charge interest while you hold the short for example?
Here are 2 exchanges you can use to short Bitcoin- https://www.bitfinex.com/https://icbit.se/I recommend all bears and Bitcoin haters to short the hell out of bitcoin while the rest of us buy. Remember, Bitcoin is going to 0 ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) so be very aggressive with your shorts. Do they allow naked shorts? I bet not. Meaning you must put up collateral of some sort, and they will give a margin call if the collateral drops below a certain margin? Otherwise the exchanges are fools. You put up bitcoins as collateral. If the price falls below the margin you lose your bitcoins. Bitfinex has been around for several years. I have loaned bitcoins to people shorting, it is one of the few ways to make interest on your bitcoins with very little risk.

It is all the same.
"Leaders" taking power from people to build up their own power so that they have more power to take more power from the people. That is what it all boils down to...over and over throughout history.
What excuses are your leaders giving to gain more power?

I started one today with the exact same code as bitcoin but with one difference, it's called bitcoin2.
It has a network difficulty of 1 and is completely useless.
Where can I buy some of your bitcoin2s? Will you trade BBQ coins for them?
