6581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How superior btc is to credit cards on: September 02, 2014, 09:07:17 AM
No charge-back risk and small tx fees are huge advantage from the seller's point of view. But they should share the benefits with the buyers by offering discounts for bitcoin payments. They still would pay less fees (comparing to cc payments) and buyers are happy to save some money. Everybody wins.
6582  Economy / Economics / Re: Death of Bitcoins made by Apple? on: September 02, 2014, 08:27:04 AM

If you have a credit card then you do not need decentralisation, same with controlling your funds because the credit card company is actually lending you money. You can generally use a credit card anywhere in the world. If you pay in bitcoin then you will need to trust the merchant you are buying from as you cannot reverse the transaction.

The main selling point that bitcoin has above credit cards is the cost of accepting/processing credit cards. Since the cost is lower when paying in bitcoin, merchants are likely to pass along these savings to the consumer.

I don't think you understand the importance of BTC being decentralised and trust less. Long story short, if you trust banks/credit card companies/financial institutions more than you trust yourself, then yes, the main benefit for you would be low tx fees.

I've heard some rumors the other day that you're considering adding DOGE, is that true?
Also, why not merging both BTC and LTC sites, so you can just switch between them?

dumb question to ask, but how does one become legendary? or the sr member posts to legendary activity

Quote
Activity: the Legendary membergroup has no universal activity requirement.
You are guaranteed to become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity,
but the exact point in this range at which you become Legendary is random per user.
Gets 5 gold coins under his name of which the last is half dark blue.

Except Dooglus, is there any other legendary in DiceBitcoin campaign ?

I don't think Dooglus is in this campaign anymore. He said he would left in the other signature thread.

And you can check the rank of the enrolled users on first post. No legendary, so far

Correct. He changed his signature to this:

Quote
The lack of an ad for dicebitco.in in my signature shouldn't be seen as a sign that they can't be trusted; I have no idea if they can be trusted, though they've always been good to me. I removed their ad from my signature simply because I felt constrained by it.
6585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Dominica Bitcoin Drop be a Success? on: September 01, 2014, 09:46:15 PM
I agree. As said above air drops like this are generally not very successful and the people who receive the coins generally just sell them if they do anything with them at all.

Which air drops are you referring to?
I'm only aware of Aurora (other 'nation coins' were mostly scams). But this one would much different than the AUR one, for many reasons, main one being bitcoin is already established with big infrastructure, and success of bitcoin doesn't at all depend on success of the drop.
6586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Dominica Bitcoin Drop be a Success? on: September 01, 2014, 09:31:04 PM
The drop seems to me like a waste of money. That money would be better spent in a grassroots effort to educate the people about Bitcoin first by actually having some places where it could be used. Show people what it is first and make them want to know more. Starting with an air drop like this doesn't really feel like it's going to have much impact.

I do see your point, but note that the drop will come together with some educational/explanatory campaign (I hope). And it's very hard to get people interested in bitcoin if they completely don't know what it is, don't have any of it, don't know how to get it, they simply may not be interested in educating themselves. It's best to give them some small (but not to small) amount and they're more likely to seek education/information even on their own.
6587  Economy / Economics / Re: Death of Bitcoins made by Apple? on: September 01, 2014, 09:22:57 PM

Good way to reduce identity fraud and at the same time making iphone a pos.

If the fee is low enough, it will negate all the benefits btc has,

Please explain how will this negate decentralisation, trust-less, transparency, full control of your funds, ability to send anywhere in the world.
6588  Economy / Economics / Re: Death of Bitcoins made by Apple? on: September 01, 2014, 02:53:27 PM
There's already a thread about it:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=764394.0

Apple is going to release a mobile payment system, secured with touch ID, and with VISA and American Express.
In other words, it will make the transaction much faster and much more secure.
And that my friends, is a threat to bitcoin

edit: source: http://www.cnet.com/news/apple-amex-teaming-on-iphone-6-payments-system-report-says/

No real threat to bitcoin imho
6589  Economy / Speculation / Re: You'd better sell when APPLE competes with bitcoin.. on: September 01, 2014, 11:29:04 AM

And that my friends, is a threat to bitcoin paypal

FTFY

Not a threat to bitcoin. If anything, it can only slow down the adoption. If people are satisfied with their fiat payment systems, they're less likely to be looking for alternative. But bitcoin wins in a long term with its key features: decentralisation and trust-less.
6590  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is there a microchip implant in your future? on: August 31, 2014, 10:50:41 PM
I definitely expect to see such chips in action in future. But it's likely to be a voluntary process rather than government-forced.
The reason the gov wouldn't want to enforce that on everyone is they'd have to chip themselves and their families. Also if everyone is chipped, the common crime rates would likely to fall (detecting crime would be extremely fast and easy in most of cases), so the gov would struggle to justify high expenses on police force/ other 'security' agencies, meaning less power and less control over the people.
6591  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why are elections only every 4 years? on: August 31, 2014, 10:28:34 PM

There would be a major risk of delaying any not popular but necessary decisions. It would be constant popularity contest with the goal of pleasing the voters right here, right now. It'd be close to impossible to implement any long-term plan.

It could only work, when the majority of voters is well educated (meaning they got a good grasp of political/economical knowledge etc).

I start synchronized them and LTC (151weeks) was done in, i dont know 2-3hours?

DOGECOIN start on 34weeks , after 10 hours i am on 27weeks about 110k block generated>

why dogecoin is synchronizing so slow?

larger blocks size (more transactions) maybe?
6594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people price things in fiat but want BTC - choose one or the other on: August 31, 2014, 08:43:13 AM
I've seen loads of topics of people trying to sell things and saying I want x amount of dollars worth of BTC. Surely if someone is so keen on the idea of Bitcoin fiat shouldn't even be mentioned.

They should be prepared in certain instances to take a fiat loss for their beliefs.

What about the other way around? What if the T-shirt business applied your logic when bitcoin was $10 worth, if they fixed the price of single t-shirt+delivery at BTC2 ($20 at that time) how many do you think they'd be selling now?

If you're running a business, you have to adjust the price to BTC/USD rates to make sure all the expenses are covered (payable mostly in fiat).

If you're individual (ebay-like) seller, who doesn't sell for a living (just getting rid of unwanted goods) - you can fix the price in BTC, take the loss if price goes down, but if the BTC price goes up, you still have to be prepared to lower that fixed price (to remain competitive).
6595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Dominica Bitcoin Drop be a Success? on: August 30, 2014, 10:00:24 PM
Last week news got out that Dominica will be the first nation in the world to use Bitcoin as an official currency...

They're not going to replace their current currency with bitcoin. A group of organisations is just planning a massive, nationwide drop to popularise bitcoin.

Whatever the outcome, it's a great idea imho

But, what will happen to the public opinion if this is a failure? Any comments?

How can this possibly fail? You mean no one will claim the BTC, or everyone will try to sell it for fiat straight away?

Jak ktos zna lepsze (wieksze) zrodlo polskich firm akceptujacych BTC to prosze o linka
6598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 70000 Caribbean Island Residents to Receive Bitcoin in 2015 on: August 29, 2014, 10:42:14 PM
Fantastic project. But in order for it to work it must be preceded by large-scale educational campaign, otherwise all the BTC will be claimed only by students and people already familiar with it, but that's not the point.
