This, there are hundreds topics like this. I will give u extra advice, u can gamble and double fast or loose it all.

Gambling is not a way to earn money, except for in certain games with a skill basis and a presence of skill. Either purchasing coins using money earned, or earning BTC for work are far better ways of obtaining BTC. One such example is codementor.io, which allows one to mentor and assist others with programming, and be paid for sessions (with weekly payouts in BTC or a choice of other methods of payment). The fees are pretty steep however.

There is not a game that the "house" is not given a edge guaranteeing over time more BTC will be lost to them then paid out for wins.    I personally don't see gambling as a investment, it's more in the hobby area.   Even with the best of skill games... you lose over time.

I highly suggest if you do gamble with your bitcoin set limit's.  Say you will only spend X amount per week, you can even set up a BTC address just for it.   Just find a way to keep it where you don't lose it all thinking the next hand/roll is going to be a winner.
662  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Investing bitcoins on: June 04, 2016, 05:52:49 PM
If you're planning to invest bitcoin now i suggest to hold it and add some bitcoin if you can and wait the halving and after that invest all you want because you will earn a lof of money if you hold it and wait after bitcoin halving.

With having coming I think holding BTC is a good idea.   We have seen a few surges in price over last month, that really have made a decent amount of gained value per bitcoin.  So you can possibly get some decent returns in a relatively short period of time just holding.

There will be some not happy with this and want faster (also it is not guarenteed).  But I think the ones holding likely will do pretty well moving closer and closer to having.
663  Other / Meta / Re: [BTC] Symbol in the title of the threads on: June 04, 2016, 05:48:53 PM
Yes, it would be nice, and it will shorten your title more than just typing "Bitcoin".

My biggest worry would be crap title's using  BTC multiple times in it. In marketplace it could become the new * that people use to try to make thread stick out.  Granted it's a small amount that would likely use it for this.  But it could get annoying.

Hi Guys,

I was looking to start up bit coin mining but I was wanting to know from the experts which company to go with so far I have seen "asic" and "ant miner". Any suggestions ?.

It is actually Bitmain on the company.  Antminer is the miners that they make they are marked with S(something here to show which model).   So for example the new one is going to be the S9.

For most looking to mine after having getting a S9 is going to be a serious option to look at- https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=0002016052907243375530DcJIoK0654 .  They just have a great efficiency.  Only people this does not effect is small number that have "free" electricity.

New S7-LN running

Saving space with pic

Thanks for sharing interesting to see this out in the wild.  I would love to see more pictures of this miner.   Think you can get the front/back/sides with a camera and post in thread?  Either way thanks again for sharing.
666  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: June 04, 2016, 05:36:19 PM
Uumm.. I think I have a blown PSU from running the AntMiner overnight. Will it effect preformance of it, or is it just plain dead Sad

That depends one why the PSU died. If it died from the load being too great, your miner might be fine. If it died from lightning or something like that, it is probably dead.

With being S3 likely is a ATX I'm going to guess on PSU.   Do you know how long ago/where you bought PSU?  Some have warranty's for a while so that might be a option.

Or you can be like me where you have had them so long they are out of the warranty periods.

Yes Today so far is a slow Day and we are going more negative, my spreadsheet also showing Period to Date at -4.57%. And I thought that my -3% was a bit ambitious... However as we know the hash Rate can turn on a Sixpence Dime.

Rich

Nice to keep hearing the negative numbers.  Sadly we lost a tad bit of value gained yesterday on coinbase.  It was hitting around 580 but dropped to around 567 right now.  So drop could have been much worse.  But I really would love to see a 600 something number before having.  Which I think is realistic and not to far off.

Still negative on bitwisdom to:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    199,312,067,531
Estimated Next Difficulty:    197,020,559,256 (-1.15%)
Adjust time:    After 525 Blocks, About 3.8 days
Hashrate(?):    1,365,716,695 GH/s
668  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Back into Bitcoin! Access to FREE electric. How should i continue!? on: June 04, 2016, 05:29:34 PM

I'm going to guess do you live in US?  If so guessing most of your circuits are not (look at like stove or washer/dryer in many US homes to see 220/240).   It's something if you had it I think you would know.

If you have a picture of fuse in breaker we might be able to say more (be careful if you take picture as it can be dangerous).

Yes, Living in US, but my rigs will not be placed in my apartment but rather at my workplace. I am a system admin for a school. The school does not have 1 big server room rather is has these smaller rooms/closets scattered throughout the school so im not entirely sure how I would find out what the schools is categorized under. My office is right next to the "main" server room and could probably snap some pics on monday (off for weekend).

DO NOT risk your job to plug in gear.  If you have a good computer job at a school you will lose it for bringing in miners and using the schools electricity.   Read the things you signed but most/almost all are going to have a policy about unauthorized device.   I can't imagine risking a sys admin job at a school over a few miners.

Honestly look at ways to mine at your apartment, or hosting.  A few miners is not worth your job.
669  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What happens to mining as the block reward halves? on: June 04, 2016, 05:26:15 PM
The equipment in terms of power consumption per GH is 2.5 times better than last gen. So I guess in terms of mining, the price and difficulty would have to subtract up to that to make it not profitable. The price seems to be going up, so I think mining even at a lower scale will still be ok.

Long term it still comes down to electricity price I think.   Unless we happen to have huge jumps with BTC keep coming with having coming.  And difficulty remains the same as far as added miners (which will not happen due to next gen miners being plugged in).

I would agree the new gear allows decent electricity price to mine for much longer.  But electricity will still remain a big factor I think.
670  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is my Computer is profitable in mini??ng on: June 04, 2016, 07:00:41 AM
No, it is not very profitable mining btc with pc but maybe you can mine a new altcoin

There is not really some "new altcoin" that makes it worth it.  Sadly most new altcoins are total crap and pump/dump.  There will be miners who mine them and hope to cash in by being early..... but it honestly is a lot of luck.

Instead of new altcoin honestly only chance with specs above is Ether.   But we don't know card to know if it works good with it.  But OP's only chance I think I see is mining Ether and holding it.
671  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: June 04, 2016, 06:58:00 AM
by investing a lot of money we can collect and get bitcoin. if you have no money mean your local currency. then you have to join a signature
campaign only then you can get a good amount of bitcoin,

You must be specific in investing your money, it's either you will invest for trading or just invest it and hold it until the price of bitcoin really increases and flying it's way to the moon. And that's the most popular way of collecting, the signature campaign.

if talking about the current investment , he definitely leads to hold until halving. and holding it is the best and safest way of investing for now.
The thing is you cannot hold bitcoins if you don't have the money to buy it or a source that would give you bitcoins, for me, I do not intent to spend of my money to buy bitcoins but I just save my online bitcoins earnings and store it in my wallet. I will just cash out later when the price becomes stable.

The problem with this is what is "price becomes stable" price?  I mean we were in 430 for a while... and was stable but I did not sell.    There is no one that can predict what price will be in a month or say a year.  So it's speculation really on stable.

I think most of us hold and hope bitcoin continues to rise and grow.  If it succeeds it should keep growing in value and not "become stable" where say bitcoin is worth X dollars forever.  But I am also long term holder so could have a different view.
672  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn Bitcoins fast and free?? on: June 04, 2016, 06:51:08 AM
Well earning Bitcoin Is not easy. You should work hard in order to have a large amount of bitcoin. I suggest, you can gamble if you want to earn fast. But it depends on your luck and skill. Or invest in HYIP site but be smart.

Don't invest in hyip, that is not suggested if you are going to try it. Better try trading instead of investing your money in hyip's it will just get
your money and going to promise to have high returns.
But in the long run it will be turned into scam.

I don't like HYIP.... it's basically a  form of ponzi scheme.  So I view this as not a good way to earn.   The ones who paid in first might manage profit if enough come after, but at one poing people start to loose (in most I would think).

Also investing in one is not free so not really for this thread.  And fast.... hard to say and you might lose money so never get that return.
673  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread May 24 to June 6? picks are closed!!.... prize = 0.10 btc on: June 04, 2016, 06:45:00 AM
Picks are closed.

And at close bitwisdom still negative which is nice to see.  It is a small negative though but if it is close to this in the end hard to argue:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    199,312,067,531
Estimated Next Difficulty:    198,355,883,467 (-0.48%)
Adjust time:    After 577 Blocks, About 4.1 days
Hashrate(?):    1,366,326,527 GH/s

Coinbase is hitting 580 as I type this post.  So still very positive on price surging upwards. I am surprised it's holding so well honestly but I am happy it is.
674  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Back into Bitcoin! Access to FREE electric. How should i continue!? on: June 04, 2016, 06:42:11 AM

S4's are getting dated at this point as far as efficiency.   How much free electricity do you have and is sound a issue?  Those two things are kinda important.

I personally would go S5 if you can find a deal, or wait till having and I think you will get some bargin S7's.  So honestly waiting till having might be a good idea to snag some S7's unless you find a deal on a older miner.

Sound & Heat are no issue...and "how much" free electricity... I dont know honestly but these would be placed directly into an already fully functional server room with an AC Unit and proper ventilation (it stays ~65 degrees in their). Not a HUGE room, id honestly even call it "walk-in-closet" sized. I dont want to do anything crazy (yet) and honestly was looking at the S5 but then I realized I had to buy power supplies if i got them and didnt really want this to start off taking up some space and figured the S4s in a clean AIO unit would work better for me (right now). Plus the deal i got on 2 of them was good so i just went for it.

...

There is a good amount of difference though on efficiency.   Buying a nice PSU that you can use multiple generations honestly is not a bad thing.   Do you know if you have 220/240?

If you do I honestly would wait till having, and get a S7 if I had free electricity.  I could be wrong if BTC continues to surge, but I think at having with S9 out S7 is going to drop in price a decent amount. And it is a HECK of a lot more efficient the S4.

S4 is not a bad machine I loved them at the time, but they  are getting dated at this point.

Honestly not sure if its 120 or 240, how could i find out? And if everything goes as planned then i will be getting more rigs of more updated gear. And i agree with what your saying about the PSUs, i even wouldnt mind building a GPU rig also for Ether.

Any fearless forecast about the delay payments?

Well it's usual but for the past weeks it only tooks 2-3 days delay.

Thanks!

I think I see a transaction went out on 6/4 just not showing up on bot.  Also looked in CoinsBank and was already there!  So appear all is well another successful payment.  Thanks Marco!

To save some users time I saw two above doing a enrollment post.  Its currently closed look at first page, so no reason to do it and post. (which I understand is not anwser you want):

Ok, cos in my world an accessory is an optional extra.  You mean a radiator is a necessity.
No not free electric. If i ca get 0.8w/gh I am happy @800Gh/s.  Bitcoin is on the up again.
I will be wanting a full refund from paypay.  It was sold as not working, (unable to test) OK but it was advertised as an S5.

I only buy broken stuff and fix it up.  I got kit for replacing components on PCBs and loads of test gear, scopes, sig gennies, decade boxes, desolder, solderstation, gas pencil, small irons (8w, 35w, 55w), big irons (100w, 400w, 600w) stock surface mount fin pitch components, bla, bla, etc etc...  I get board and its more fun than jigsaws

But when talking about water system it obviously is necessary as that's what you get your cooling from.  But I can see your point.   I can see your wanting to do this project so instead of telling you my speculation in cost vs what it is worth, I will wish you the best of luck.
677  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin core stuck on '33 weeks behind'. Is there a way around this? on: June 04, 2016, 01:14:57 AM
Hi,
My computer shut down the other day because a fan died, and it got too hot. I wasn't able to let the application (Bitcoin Core v0.12.0 (64-bit)) put itself away. The computer is fine now, but when I started  the bitcoin core tells me that something was corrupt, and that it was 'reindexing blocks on disk'. It went through a number of years quickly yesterday, but it seems to be stuck on the '33 weeks behind'.
Is there anyway around this? It shows my btc as 'pending' but it's not available. The application accepts my password ok, but says I don't have the money available.

Somebody said I could 'dump my private keys' into Electum, and have access to the btc that way. He said to google it. Is there a post that talks about this, is this a good way and is there anything better?

I just got a android phone, and I'm still figuring it out, but is that another way to go?

Thanks in advance!

If you can get private key like that somebody said it does allow you to import your BTC address into another wallet.  Be VERY careful with the private key or key's as it allows access to the BTC address.  With Electrum you can use a lightweight wallet like it.  This means you don't have to download entire blockchain, and should allow you access very quickly.

Not sure how android phone fits in here.   Are you wanting wallet for PC or for a android phone?
678  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: June 04, 2016, 01:05:49 AM
Yer, i will contact ebay but it all takes time.  21 days have to pass before i get a refund.  Plus he will have to pay for postage cos i will not part with more money...Meantime i will get it hashing for me. $$$  Cheesy

Will not buy anything at all, just cobble it with old junk.  Alley freezer rad and plant irigation pump. it only has to run for a month!

The PSU is a Dell 750w NT50P-S1 for a server, they are good PSUs i have them running my S3+ and my underclocked S1s
So... 750w PSU with 4 leads.  each lead has 15A / 12v 6pinPci-e.

I plan to connect two power leads (30A) to blade #1.
another pair power leads (30A) to blade two.
if it works it should pull around 500w with two blades

Then i underclock to 200Mhz @ 0.720v with two blades hashing and check power at the wall
Then power down and reconnect the PSU.
I then plan to connect one power lead to blade #1 (15A),
2nd power lead to blade #2 (15A),
3rd to blade #3 (15A),
4th to blade #4 (15A),

Should hash at about 800Gh/s @ 650w  ??

@notlist3d  you said in your post  "It's hard to tell from description on what radiator actually does in terms of cooling.   It likely is highest costing accessory."

Is the rad an "accessory"?  I can run without it if it is only an accessory!

It is quite a big rad from a freezer.  It will take 4 off 120mm fans and has 12mm hose barbs. It holds about 1200ml.

I do not mean it as accessory you can run without.  At the beginning you bought the miner from Bitmain, and a acessory pack of such for water cooling from syscooling.  Eventually I think you could get all from bitmain (been a while so could be wrong).

These "acessory's" are NEEDED to run with watercooling its just a lot more complicated then one fan  with say the S3 brother of the C1.   Things such as radiator, fans, tubing, Barbs, Liquid, Pump.  But if you have all that and no extra money spent I can see why you want to get it running.

With all the watercooling parts, and miner even underclocked will not be as efficient as a S5.  And make sure all hashing blades work, as seller does not seem to be honest.   I think you honestly are better off returning it via paypal... but that is my opinion.  Are you running on free electricity?
679  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Back into Bitcoin! Access to FREE electric. How should i continue!? on: June 03, 2016, 11:31:44 PM
