I put my remaining 3 S3's on a clearance sale. They are in working condition. $24.99 + $4.99 shipping if they are sold today. We are moving and really don't want to move them to the new location. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WBNKTXC

I'm hunting for a bit of help in a sea of threads and videos...being very very new to mining btw... I recently installed a solar solution that gives essentially free power for my other hobbys. So I found a few antmain S3/s3+ on auction for very little $(20.00 each) and 1000w psu' for 10.00. Ok so I got them and all 6 ants are working great with zero x's and 35/38c on average. They run better with very low diff (-256). All are set to basic feq I think (218 and 225).. But each one has a different firmware and version of cgminer. Being only a iOS user, I remote in to make pool changes. Can these units be upgraded remote? (Miner to web address) Should I bother? The versions of cgminer are 3.10/.12. I'm new to mining but with 2.4 th to tinker with? Why not.. Any suggestions??

If the firmware works just leave it. If you want to upgrade the firmware is on the Bitmain website.

If the S3 is mining BTC okay, leave the firmware as is. You do not want to brick it while upgrading the firmware by accidental power loss or anything unexpected

There is also Kano update: You may need desktop web browser to upgrade firmware - not sure if it can be done from iOS.

I want to first thank everyone for the feedback. Since this is a bit new to me (did gpu mining a few yrs back) my big (noob) question now is how. Can I point the s3 to a \\ someplace and have it fetch the firmware? I can download it but I'm a bit fuzzy on exactly how to get it on the s3. Ftp to IP address ? Sorry but I really don't want to brick them. Is their a terminal app I need to use? Ughh or just let it be? A few I can't change feq on (218) oh..and yes the boxes can get out to any site....but..which one if I can do that...

1. Download the FW to your PC from BMT's website https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201407180243004432lBQW28O06332. Upload the FW to your S3 via the web interface as per the instructions from BMT's website https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720140718024245299h9E48AeN0649

1. Download the FW to your PC from BMT's website https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201407180243004432lBQW28O0633
2. Upload the FW to your S3 via the web interface as per the instructions from BMT's website https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720140718024245299h9E48AeN0649Except don't do that, you want to use Kano's update, instructions are on his site: Login to your ant, with ssh or putty, using the same root username and password you use on the luci web interface If your password is blank, then use the "System/Administration" tab in the web interface to set a password, since you cannot login with a blank password
The basic update instructions: run the following commands: cd / wget http://kano.is/AntS3/cgminer-ants3-4.9.2-94e04f6-3.tgz tar -xvzf cgminer-ants3-4.9.2-94e04f6-3.tgz rm cgminer-ants3-4.9.2-94e04f6-3.tgz
If you've not done a Kano AntS3 update before, or you've factory reset your AntS3 also type the command: cgset
Finally in all cases: sync reboot If you have any trouble rebooting, power it off, wait 10 seconds then on again
After rebooting, you can, of course, use the web interface to your AntS3 to change settings Check it to make sure all the settings are OK - especially the Advanced Settings - and save the settings
Finished :) https://bitbucket.org/TheKano/cgminer-binaries/src/f5884bfece7a8dfd48550cb172272212459be51c/AntS3/?at=master

Except don't do that, you want to use Kano's update, instructions are on his site:
I guess I should have paid more attention to Traveller's actual question. However, as kano's update is not a complete FW, it is perfectly fine to ensure that all your devices are on the latest FW prior to applying kano's update. So... 1. Download the FW to your PC from BMT's website https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201407180243004432lBQW28O06332. Upload the FW to your S3 via the web interface as per the instructions from BMT's website https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720140718024245299h9E48AeN06493. Apply kano's update as Mikestang instructed

Hi guys,
what is the sweet spot in terms of frequency/Watts for the S3+ ?
I need to put 4xS5 and 4xS3+ on a 16A line and they're using slightly over 17A at default freq(S5:350, S3+:250) so I need to underclock them a bit...
(reposting here as I posted originally in the S3 (not S3+) thread.

Uumm.. I think I have a blown PSU from running the AntMiner overnight. Will it effect preformance of it, or is it just plain dead That depends one why the PSU died. If it died from the load being too great, your miner might be fine. If it died from lightning or something like that, it is probably dead.

Do you know how long ago/where you bought PSU? Some have warranty's for a while so that might be a option. Or you can be like me where you have had them so long they are out of the warranty periods.

So I recently got an S3, thinking it would be easy to get it running.
Now, my problem is that I'm living at a university, and only have access to uni internet. This means I can't access the router settings. I can access the antminers config page with my laptop, but that's about it.
I don't want to brick the antminer, so I though I'd ask to make sure. Is there a safe way to share my internet connection from my Ubuntu laptop to the antminer? I've got an ethernet cable to link the two.

You could do some sort of connection sharing, but would be a shame to run a laptop the entire time. (Assuming they don't block port's or something needed to access pools). Are you allowed to have routers? If your allowed to have routers likely are able to turn off wireless, copy PC's mac address that works, and plug it into univeristy ethernet. But that assumes you have a Ethernet port in your dorm.
