661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SMC] SmartCoin Official Thread - Hard Fork Halving Successful + Digishield on: May 06, 2014, 02:26:23 PM
After Successful Hard Fork Halving - 200 000 block to 32 coin per block
I think would be a good idea to make a smart foundation with transparency of costs. Smart money can help for many good causes.
I'm sure there are people who can help in the world, there still are needed people may also attract many new investors looking to invest the coin to support this cause
If the developer has good ideas for the development of the coin let them said it would be a good sign for all who believe in Smart coin
Any new proposals will be benefit the future of coin !
Do not be stupid and let everyone contribute to each smart coin that exists
If you just sit and do nothing - nothing will change , we will continue to mining and nothing will happen just will have a lot of coins and that costs money - mining - current investments in hardware and long time for this

Are you proposing that we collect SmartCoins from people in this thread?  For what purpose would we use them?

my english is very bad
I use google translate  Grin

who has smart coins can help, as well as any other people who want to help for the one good cause
But here we need a huge marketing team

examples:

http://vertcoinmarket.com

and other foundations

I'm wondering, will all coins based on Monocle follow the same N-factor schedule ? Because if you wanted to change this schedule for Vertcoin, you would have to change it for all merged coins isn't it ? Implying that every merged coin would have to hard fork to do that ? That would be a mess.

I think there is no way to confusion

because currently you can only mining VTC or only mining MON - these are two separate coins that can be individually mininig

Very good team with a lot of knowledge
https://vertcoin.org/team.html
Indeed, so what do they have to say to the fact that some manufacturer advertise Adaptive N-factor compatibility ??
Because if it is indeed the case this is a total game changer... :/

see here

I don't know how many times we have to publicly say "VTC will hardfork if necessary to keep ASICs out" - we must have said it a hundred times!

I'll say it again, in case repetition number 101 will help - VTC will hardfork if that every becomes necessary to keep ASICs out. This isn't LTC, we're not going to suddenly decide to give up and capitulate in the face of a need to hardfork, we will do whatever is necessary to keep VTC decentralised and in part that means excluding ASICs by whatever means necessary.

In the autumn when all ASIC script are delivered / there are people who ordered a few of a them - 5, 10 or 20 units/
we will see massive 51% attacks of most of script coins, many of them will be killed and buried without honors

Think about this  Wink

Someone wrote a nice guide on setting up your own p2pool node in a VM (and also, in one of the comments, someone linked to a nice HOWTO on running your own node directly on your windows desktop): http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/24trmj/set_up_your_very_own_p2pool_node_linux_virtual_box/

To reiterate, running your own p2pool node for your private use is the best way to merge mine VTC and MON, with the highest possible payouts and zero fees.

If I do own p2p
Is that equivalent to solo mining  VTC + MON ?

Who are we?
Founder: Bushido
bushido@vertcoin.org
Our founder, Bushido has worked for major companies such as Accenture and Microsoft as a developer, and has returned to education as a masters student at Johns Hopkins. Persuaded that centralization was the bane of existing cryptocurrencies, he set out to create something that would encourage the wide distribution of mining power, increasing the security and safety of the Vertcoin network. Like most creative technical people, his main concern is to see substance and technical innovation behind Vertcoin, and he is always pushing to keep us innovative and keep us thinking about how we can do things better.

Developer: Othe
othe@vertcoin.org
Othe is a smart investor (in BTC since 2009) and was involved in efforts to get the Litecoin proof-of-work changed to try to achieve the initial purpose of Litecoin - ASIC resistance. When the Litecoin team proved reluctant to change things, Othe moved on to VTC and is now a key part of the team. Skilled in Python, Flask, PHP, Django and Drupal, Othe was also closely involved in the p2pool port to VTC. As an import/export guy, Othe also brings a keen business mind to VTC along with his technical skills.

Developer: Bengt
bengt@vertcoin.org
Bengt studies computer science at bachelor's level and has a couple years of programming experience from that and other projects. Lately he's been working a lot with getting our distributed peer-to-peer pool network running smoothly. He's passionate about crypto as a new form of currency and looks forward to the day that Vertcoin gains wide-spread adoption. Writes python and java.

Aleks is actively working with CryptoCurrency startups and brings technical understanding together with plain english and business experience. Dev Team Spokesman and webmaster: Boris

Boris also looks after our official website, and maintains our trusted build system (https://github.com/vertcoin/gitian.sigs.vtc) so that binaries can be validated and publicly verified as clean and trustworthy.

668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MON | Monocle | Merge Mined on VTC Vertcoin - No Premine - Scrypt-N on: May 06, 2014, 12:03:33 AM
WTB 100 MON for 0.05 BTC

I will have to disappoint you, expected price of 100 MON is much more than what you offer (0.05) maybe if you remove one zero - 100 MON for 0.5 BTC

Specifications:

Premine: Zero

Algorithm: Scrypt-N, merge-mineable on the VTC chain

Total circulation: 8.4 million MON

Only 8.4 million MON less than BTC or LTC or VTC  Wink
Except you get MON for "free" while mining for VTC, so there's absolutely no reason to expect MON to approach such a high valuation.

Sure...except now VTC is far from the most profitable Scrypt-N coin to mine (by itself) because people are merge-mining with MON. So it's not exactly "free" and, on top of that, it means that the sustained high difficulty will make it quite difficult to acquire without buying. Clearly, people are banking on MON having value. I only expect the network speed to continue rising as it begins to approach that of VTC as merge-mining VTC+MON is, as we all know, a no-brainer. Due to the rarity, I think it will be interesting to see what happens once this starts trading on exchanges (especially with the consistently reduced block rewards).

the difficulties of VTC and MON will soon equalize, the next step is either difficulties to grow significantly, people are still looking for the right p2p pool

Why is the hashrate displayed in my vertminer miner stats  significantly higher than the one display on the pool website?
who is the pool?
vertsquad..

I'm noticing I'm getting HW errors though. I'll try again in a couple of days once I get more RAM.

vertco.in is a good pool, but RAM is important for VTC - min 4 GB /VTC is ASIC-Resistant/  -  8 GB is Good for the rig with 4 GPU

I mining here - http://p2proxy.net
but my statistic is broken Huh  for 1 rig
 VTC (Paid: 2.55433404 VTC)
MON (Paid: 0.00000000 MON)
Recent payments stand by 2014-05-03 20:10
for second rig it's fine
0.691443460190 VTC (Paid: 1.97487506 VTC)
3.104770762960 MON (Paid: 5.39850627 MON)
I need an answer from the owner of http://p2proxy.net
Thanks

Not sure what the problem you're describing is? Is it that you got a mon payment on one address but it doesn't show up in the statistics?

I get paid from there, but statistics are very important for small miners

also have many rejects from there, in the normal pool I don't have rejects with the same settings

Try to lower -I to 18 or 17

ok,
I've tried before these settings / -I to 18 or 17 / to the normal pool, but my speed falls
675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASICs | Must upgrade wallet due to a bug in OpenSSL on: May 05, 2014, 07:33:33 PM
50% of my hashrate is on Vertcoin+MON and the other 50% is in DRK, mining scrypt with GPUs is a waste now.

I'm in 100% VTC+MON
