Mongolia was playing their first ever international match. What do you expect from them? The issue is that stronger teams play against these associate teams only in competitions such as Asian Games. Therefore I am also not in favor of taking away this opportunity. JSRAW has a valid point here. Each and every nation should take part in the qualifier tournament. The BCCI wants teams to get direct entry based on the T20I ranking. But then, the ICC ranking is heavily biased in favor of the full members and I am not in favor of using it as a means of qualification.

Then there must be some pre-qualifying round where teams like Mongolia were not capable of playing are segregated out. This is the only way we can see a competitive qualifying round. But for that we need strong cricketing countries which is not possible atleast in next coming 10 years. Thanks to cricket promoting policies of icc.
Whether like it or not cricket is what BCCI want and dictate to icc. Never expect icc will take any decision that will offend BCCI.

Bangladesh vs New Zealand
The toss is very important in this match so both teams will want to bat first after winning the toss.
In my point of view if New Zealand will take first turn and will go above 300 runs so it will be little bit difficult for the Bangladesh team. Because Bangladesh were unable to win the match against England and England scored 364 runs and Bangladesh team got out all of the team at 277 runs. In the previous two matches bowled well and I hope today will also bowl well. So let's see who will win, I think New Zealand will win today match. Smiley

Just before the world cup there is 3 ODI match series between NZ and Bangladesh. The series was easily won by NZ 2-0. Bangladesh has lost its game against England while they got victory against Afghanistan. Odds may be in favour of NZ but you cant rule out victory chances for Bangladesh. Bangladesh can win the game if there bowlers and batsmen both work together.

Well.. if the Olympic Council of Asia ask Indian cricket team to take part in the qualifiers, then in all probability the BCCI will just refuse to send a team to the Asian Games. But what I didn't liked is the fact that Pakistan and other full members were given walkover for the quarterfinals as well. During women's competition, 3 out of the 4 quarter-final matches were washed out, and they just gave direct entry to the full member nations to semi-finals. So it is not like these teams got direct entry to the QF stage. They actually got direct entry to the SF stage (apart from Sri Lanka, who had to defeat Thailand to enter the semis).

If you see cricket teams of Asia then only India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have good teams. Rest of Asian teams are still not at level of these 4 countries. For instance see performance of Mongolia team in Asian games, they were barely able to play cricket. Its wont be fair that these 4 teams play with such teams. Cricket is not like football where you have too many strong teams competing against each other. Its just a game of 7 or 8 countries.

They won their first match against a relatively weak team (Sri Lanka). They won against Australia after that, but it was mainly due to their opponents playing poor cricket. Their total (311/7) was not that big, but then Australian top order collapsed to 70/6 as a result of some accurate bowling by Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada. And then it was the turn of Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi to mop up the proceedings. Hopefully they will be able to maintain this form through the remainder of the tournament.

Two games and both lost. This time Aussies are not looking lethal as they are in every world cup. The way SA were batting it looks like they will score over 350 runs but Aussie bowlers did a good job to restrict them to 311. Its the batting of Aussies that disappointed them in yesterday match. To me its very clear that Aussies wont make it to semis. May be they are not interested in this world cup because they have won so many titles in the past.
665  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: October 12, 2023, 05:11:13 PM

Bitcoin is called a risky asset because of its volatile nature and that is why, one needs to invest with only the amount that he can afford to lose, so that if bitcoin price goes below his entry point, he can just ignore the price and keep on hodli. That is why it is advisable not to borrow money to invest in bitcoin so that you don't end up selling when it isn't your will, to avoid loss.
We saw Bitcoin price was stable at 30k USD few weeks back and then there is a dip triggered due to some news. Bitcoin in that DIP went down from 30k to 25k and that's the time where your nerves as a HODLER are tested. Its easy to say to HODL but not many can see there investment going down. That DIP is now over and Bitcoin price is moving up towards 30k again. If you have bought Bitcoin when it was down then surely you are getting some profit at the moment. Accumulating more when Bitcoin is down is more beneficial then when its up.

For sure, it seems that the dip from $30k to $25k is over.. but not easy to say with certainty.. since we are currently in the middle of the range.. so no one can really say for sure that the dip is over.. and that $25k support might not be broken to the downside.

It is hard to bet either way, even though sometimes people act as if they know, and then they tell you "I told you so," after the fact... but I doubt that they really know with any level of confidence that maybe at best might get into the 60% to 70% arena before all the events end up playing out.

Sure, from time to time, there are some price set ups that make it seem more likely of one price direction or another in the short-term, but I doubt that we are currently in one of those kinds of a set up.

As we were discussing this, Bitcoin once again started going down. Right now the price is at 26.6k on CMC and we cant say with certainty that where price will go from this. 25k support may be tested once again.
People give too many predictions at times and if anyone of those went true they say "I told you so". The fact is we have seen so many predictions about Bitcoin and majority were false.
In current scenario it is easy to predict that price may restrict in 25 to 30k range because thats how bitcoin is behaving for last few months. But there is no way we can predict the long term price of Bitcoin.

Almost every pitch is good for batting. This is really bad for the bowlers and increase the pressure upon the bowlers whereas the batsmen enjoy. However these pitches in favour of batting makes us more interested in watching the Matches. If these matches were low scoring surely there'll be lack of interest watching the Matches. Every match played till date in the World Cup 2023 is good scoring. In today's match I expect a score of atleast 350 runs. As of now New Zealand have reached 185/3. Rachin Ravindra who scored a century in the match against England scored 51 and lost his wicket to Van der Merwe.

90 more bowls to be bowled and NZ at the end of 34 overs have scored 192 runs. With 7 wickets in hand the stage is all set for 350 runs target. Not much hope for Netherlands in this game as NZ looking to finish big. Bas de Leede, the hero of last game was not able to pick any wicket so far. Netherlands need more cricket before they can play against test playing sides.

New Zealand lost their first wicket. Devon Conway returned to the dressing room with 32 off 40 balls.
Will Young failed to collect any runs in the first match. But he is batting responsibly in today's match. He is unbeaten after collecting 40 runs off 48 balls. Ravindra collects 6 runs. New Zealand scored 87 runs in 16 overs. Now their run rate is below 6. The pitch is batting friendly. If the team does not lose wickets quickly, then they can give a big target. But I don't think New Zealand can give more than 400 target. The highest score on this pitch was 350, probably the 350 Australia scored. I think New Zealand can give a target of 360-380 if they bat very well. But that is less likely.

NZ got a good start today and Netherlands bowlers are not getting wickets as they were getting in game against Pakistan. If NZ keep moving like that then they will surely finish giving target of over 300 runs. Odds are already in favour of NZ and they are in full control of the match right now. Netherlands bowlers must work hard to get wikcets to restrict NZ.
669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: October 09, 2023, 07:18:52 AM

The sixth match of the World Cup will be played today at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. New Zealand are the favorite to win today. They have already defeated England in their opening match.

Betting Odds

Newzealand - 1.069
Netherlands - 9.35

I am certain that we all know which team will win today.

Netherlands performance against Pakistan was good. They bowled Pakistan out in 49 overs and run chase was also fine till Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede were on crease.
Todays scenario is different as NZ unlike Pakistan are not unpredictable rather they are very much consistent in there performance. See the first match of NZ and one can easily get idea how well prepared they are for this WC.

LOL.. one defeat against strongest team in the tournament and all of a sudden Australia's chances are down? I don't agree with this assessment. Australia still remains as one of the favorites to lift the trophy and historically they have performed really well in ICC tournaments. Their next match is against South Africa at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, and I am sure that they will bounce back strongly. Almost everyone in the Australian squad have the experience of participating in the IPL. So they are very familiar with the weather and ground conditions. And this is going to help them as the tournament progresses.

Australia have the capability to bounce back in the tournament. Even yesterday they got 3 quick wickets and were right on top but its King Kohli and KL who shattered there desires of winning the game. You expect your bowlers to win a game for you if you have scored 199 batting first.
Today there is only one fixture - Netherlands vs New Zealand. Not much chances for Netherlands today as New Zealand are in good from as evident from there first match agonist England.
672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 08, 2023, 12:26:21 PM
Australia defiantly not in a good position at the moment. They have lost 9 wickets and score is just 194 runs. One over still to go and there is a possibility that Aussies may not be able to play there full 50 overs quota.
This gives a clear picture of how strong Indian bowling lineup is. Even Australians were not able to face them. This match will clearly give boost to India bowling for rest of the tournament.
673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 08, 2023, 09:58:45 AM

The Australian team is at the top of the match right now. After losing an initial early wicket of Mitchell Marsh, both David Warner and Steven Smith are slowly taking to a point where Australia could play freely and launch a match winning total. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin aren't able to make any impact on this Australian partnership.

If this partnership is not broken quickly, it will become threatening for India. The Australian team is making the grip firm on this match and the only reason for this is that they are not losing wickets.

Finally the 74 runs stand between Smith and Warner is broken by Kuldeep yadav. Warner is finally out after scoring 41 runs of 52 balls and that's a big wicket from Indian point of view. Marnus Labuschagne is the new batsmen on the crease and this wicket of Warner will push things back for Australia. Both teams are favorite for this WC title and todays match is crucial for both teams.
674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: October 08, 2023, 09:51:29 AM
The pitch is not good for the batsmen. Bowlers get good advantage. Also the batsmen can play a bit better in the first innings. Gradually the pitch became more bowling friendly. So I think the decision to bat will win the toss is right.

Australia quickly lost the wicket of their opener Marsh. The two batsmen at the crease, Warner and Smith, are also finding it difficult to score runs. Indian bowlers are bowling very well. Australia collected only 32 runs in 8 overs. But the Australian batsmen should now try to stay at the crease. If they don't lose quick wickets, they will be able to collect big. Australia can control the match if they provide a target of 280-300. But it is very difficult to give a target of more than 280 on this pitch.

Aussies are going with strategy. They are not going after bowlers and not giving away there wickets. After 16 overs Aussies are steady with 73/1,  Warner and Smith are well set. India need wickets because if Smith and Warner kept going like that then there is possibility that Australia may give a huge target to India. India defiantly will not like a target above 300.
675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 08, 2023, 09:46:24 AM
Indians were a firm favorite to win the gold but if I am being honest then I didn't like the finish.

Teams were not given a chance to chase and defend the total but one team got the medal based on seed ranking. I agree, the result was based on rules but this is flawed and this specific rule should be scrapped for good. We've already seen the same rule going against Associate members a few times, despite being superior sides in the competition.

If you see score card of final then Afghanistan were 112/5 in 18.2 overs. If Afghanistan were allowed to play rest of 10 balls then they could have given a target of 120 to 125 runs, which will be quite competitive seeing the level of competition in Asian games. All I know is cruel DRS method which is known for giving mysterious results, now there is seed ranking in place of DRS.
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 08, 2023, 09:37:22 AM
After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, the Australian team is still looking for a start. So far, the Indian opening bowling spell is accurate and has troubled the batters on almost every delivery. Australia is 16/1 after 6 overs. Smith seems in good touch. The wicket is not easy to bat on, and I think a score anywhere around 250 will be a par score. Indian middle order is strong and plays spin very well. This pitch will test their skills a lot.

That's right. Indian bowlers have kept Aussie batting lineup quite and score after 13 over is 59/1. The good thing for Australia is that they have wickets in hand and if they don't lose wickets till 30th overs then they have a platform ready for big score. Indian must keep this thing in mind that they also need wickets. Warner is going on with run a ball at the moment but he can be lethal if gets settle.
677  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Halving cycle on: October 07, 2023, 02:17:52 PM
According to predictions, the halving will take place in March or April 2024, and if history repeats itself and as you mentioned. Bull season will come a year after the halving, which means we are still a long way from the bull season. So, there will not be any positive movements in the market anytime soon, both before and after the halving.

The impact of the halving is undeniable, however, many people mistakenly believe that the bull season will come immediately when the halving takes place and they are looking forward to more positive developments as the halving approaches. I predict bitcoin will have corrections before and after the halving and will not skyrocket immediately. That could be the last time the market shakes off its last weak hands before entering a new bull season. I predict many people will be discouraged and disappointed when the halving happens because then the price will not increase immediately.

Based on previous halvings data its very much clear that price wont go up immediate up after halving rather it will take a year or two for price to go up. This halving is different in a sense that people are now very much aware of halving and that's the main reason we see a stable Bitcoin price for last few months. Even if price don't up immediately after halving it wont go down as many investors are eyeing halving event this time.
678  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: October 07, 2023, 11:35:59 AM
I don't think that the Bangladesh team will be able to start the World Cup journey in such a great way. The team played great. Especially the Bangladeshi spin bowlers controlled the match. Shakib took 3 wickets and Miraj 4 wickets. Shakib's bowling was excellent. Shakib picked up all three important wickets of Afghanistan's top order. And this is why the Afghanistan team can no longer return to the truck. The coach of the Bangladesh team understood the pitch condition very well.

Although Bangladesh won quite easily, Bangladesh's top order failed as usual today. Tanzid is out like a fool today. Players should play responsibly in such an important World Cup match. Also Liton is yet to return to form. Miraz and Shanto's excellent partnership gave Bangladesh an easy win. Both have collected more than 50.

It's the openers who failed to score runs today for Bangladesh but there number 3rd and 4th batsmen scored fifties today. Its good overall performance from Bangladesh today. Afghanistan is a strong cricketing side and you can expect them to bowl out so cheaply. Mehidy Hasan Miraz had game of his life, first he picked 3 wickets and then a half century.

Asian Games

Gold for India
Silver for Afghanistan

The final ended without any result but its the India who got gold because of better net run rate while Afghanistan have to settle for silver.
Bangladesh got bronze in 5 overs game against Pakistan. Batting first Pakistan score 48 runs in 5 overs and Bangladesh were gk en a 65 runs target in 5 overs which they chased on very last ball.

Tickets were pretty expensive, the visa giving situation was a total disaster, marketing was horrible. They could have pulled a lot more fans easily.

Also, I don't think we would get more fans at all unfortunately as the tournament progress (apart from the knockout and India games, which should be full houses). Usually interest tends to be highest at the start and in the end (knockout games).

With too much T20 cricket going on there is little interest in ODI. It took almost a day to watch an ODI and there are not much people who have that much time. If in India people are not coming to watch ODI world cup match then situation will be much worse in rest of the world. Apart from India games there won't be much attendance in group stages game.
