661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: December 20, 2023, 10:46:27 AM
Basically, PSG management doesn't want to lose Mbappe for nothing. Apart from that, Mbappe is a valuable asset that PSG has. If he leaves, it might make things difficult for PSG, but fortunately, Mbappe wants to extend his contract with PSG, I don't know what the reason is, which makes Mbappe want to stay at PSG even though at first Mbappe is reluctant to extend his contract and wants to continue his career at a big club where he can win a UCL title. But at least PSG managed to retain their golden player to continue contributing to the team.
I don't know where the news that Mbappé will sign a new contract is emanating from. We have not heard any report from PSG or the representative of the French striker. But I know that PSG will do everything possible to make him extend his contract because this is the only way they can make money from the deal. If they allow Mbappé to leave at the end of next season without a new contract that contains a huge release clause, the club will end up getting nothing from his transfer.

One event that could motivate the striker to remain in France is if PSG win the Champions League this season. The trophy will boast Mbappé's opportunity to win the Ballon d'Or which is the long ambition of the young player. PSG are favourites to win in the UCL second-round game against Real Sociedad. The Spanish side is not at its best this season and they are in the 6th position of the La Liga.
662  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: EU adopts 12th package of economic sanctions on: December 20, 2023, 09:55:26 AM
In order to further limit circumvention, today’s decision includes a ban on Russian nationals from owning, controlling or holding any posts on the governing bodies of the legal persons, entities or bodies providing crypto-asset wallet, account or custody services to Russian persons and residents.
Do these sanctions apply to citizens with dual citizenship?
These sanctions are targeted at Russian citizens and  dual nationality does not release a person from EU sanctions. So Russians who have dual citizenship will be affected by these sanctions. But I am glad that the sanctions don't stop Russians from owning cryptocurrencies but limit them from holding leadership positions in any crypto business. But these sanctions can be easily invaded by appointing passive managers while a Russian executive will indirectly control the business.
663  Economy / Economics / Re: Used cars and real estate market very volatile and a lot people will fomo in on: December 20, 2023, 09:04:41 AM
You can not generalise those types of market, I am not familiar with the used cars market but I am a bit familiar with the real estate market and one thing is that you don't generalise the real estate market.
There are factors that affects the value or situation of real estate market and the biggest factor is it's location if it's a sorted after location the value of it is expected to grow, but other factors like the condition, previous owners etc can also play part in the value.
I know that the global market is interconnected but some sector of the economy has relative experience based on different country. The Chinese real estate market is in a mess because of bad debt and constant population decline. In my country, the real estate market is flourishing especially in cities. The real estate sector is experiencing this boast because of increasing population and rural-urban migration.

The used car market is also a prosperous sector in my country because the majority of the population of my country depends on used cars. Due to the low standard of living most people cannot afford brand-new cars. So investing in the used car business is not a bad idea for people who have experience in the business. So I accept the fact that we cannot generalise about these two sectors because every country has different experiences.

I prefer to hold in usdt crypto because it can DCA retain value and sell faster than other investment securities.
Is it advisable to hold a centralised coin for a long time? It would have been better to keep Bitcoin for a long time because it is decentralized which makes it more secure.
664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 20, 2023, 08:32:20 AM
Man City's condition without Haaland and De Bruyne is quite worrying. Especially after Haaland was absent for several weeks after suffering a minor injury. But I am sure that when Haaland and De Bruyne return to playing and recover from injuries, Man City will gradually improve and return to better performance. But I'm not too sure whether Man City will return to the top of the standings. Because if Liverpool and Arsenal continue to get good results for the rest of this season then both teams will definitely be able to maintain their position between 2nd and 1st place. Unless Arsenal and Liverpool start to lose their consistency this season then maybe Man City can return to the top standings.
Kevin De Bruyne was among the players who departed to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup but he was not included in the squad that will face Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds. This shows that he has not fully recovered from the injury. But there are hopes that he would be fit in a few weeks maybe before the end of the year . Other players like Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku will also miss this match which will affect the squad negatively. Manchester City has been relying on the 32-year-old playmaker for a long time and I think it is time for them to look for a competent replacement because he is now facing too many injuries.

Manchester City have dominated the EPL for three seasons but the English league is not like the Ligue One. We have many other clubs that can fight for the title. And the slight drop in the performance of City has allowed other good sides to take the lead. I doubt if City will be able to make it to the top three at the end of the season with the present quality.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: December 20, 2023, 05:41:15 AM
El Salvador continues to walk with President Nayib Bukele's strong principles regarding Bitcoin legal tender.
I can't compare in detail how El Salvador's adoption compares with Panama or Costa Rica because I'm not from those three countries. However, according to updated information that I continue to find out, El Salvador is better.
The difference between Panama / Costa Rica and El Salvador is that presidents of these nations have different mindsets. While we have seen documents proposing to make Bitcoin a legal tender in Panama and Costa Rica presented by parliamentarians there is no willpower from the executive to lobby for the passing of these bills. Nayid Bukele had to lobby the legislative arm and convince them to sign the bill after comprehensively explaining the benefits to the lawmakers.

But in the case of Panama and Costa Rica Laurentino Cortizo and Rodrigo Chaves Robles are not passionate about Bitcoin like their El Salvador counterparts. Maybe these presidents are under external pressure from anti-bitcoin forces or they are too blind to the the future of Bitcoin.
666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have any one had experiences with banned bank/providers because of gambling? on: December 19, 2023, 12:10:16 PM
I find this very frustrating when i see people complain about their funding bank/provider account being banned because of gambling related activities. My younger just called me and told me his raven account was banned and he has been using it to deposit dollars in his gambling platform and also paying for subscriptions online. I want to get this clear.

Is it because of the gambling activities that got his account banned or it is because of the legitimacy of the funds that raven are more concerned about?

Is there any gambling platform that needs to be avoided?

Since i woke up we've been trying to contact their support for complaint and no response yet. Is there anyone with similar experience?
The customer care of the banking service provider should have told him the reason why his account was banned. Since you have contacted the support group I suggest you should wait patiently for their response. But the usual reason for this kind of action is if the bank suspects that the customer is using the account for any illegal activities. Maybe they suspect that he is using it for money laundering or to clean up illegally acquired funds. Another reason might be because he has gone contrary to the provision of the terms of service.
667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether Confirms Extensive Collaboration With DOJ, FBI and Secret Service on: December 19, 2023, 11:31:09 AM
Just a quick reminder for those making use of Tether for large transactions. Just so you know, there is nothing much different between it and using normal fiat, as your funds can be frozen and you can't do anything. The blacklisting mapping gives them access to freeze the funds of anyone whom they think is not worthy of whatever they are holding in that wallet.
Anybody using centralised platforms has decided to give away their privacy, security and custody of their funds. The government can give any reason to freeze your funds and you might do little or nothing to get back your funds. Apart from government intervention in the operations of the activities of these stablecoin, some of these stablecoin issuers are not trustworthy. The claim that these coins are backed by fiat, cryptocurrencies or commodities cannot be verified because their audit reports are doctored or some vital information is kept secret. So users of stablecoins are also risking losing their funds bankruptcy caused by the unhealthy practices of these stablecoin issuers.
668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? on: December 19, 2023, 10:36:16 AM
Let's start with the simple choice: Do you consider yourself to have a gambling problem affecting your happiness, security, relationships, finances, etc? (Yes or No)
I can remember gambling large sums when I started gambling and it affected my finances. There were times I needed to borrow to cover my expenses for the month because I had used most of my income for gambling. But it didn't last for more than two months and I had to readjust my gambling activities. So I would say that gambling affected my finances for a few months. Some of my close relatives were not comfortable when they knew I was gambling. So it affected my relationship with them but they had to accept my position when they understood that I was not an addict.

Quote
Now, here is something a bit different: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? Either you make enough income to call it "adult play", so you do not have real problems, and/or you simply stop for a long time. Then - months or years later - it gets worse again and you are in trouble.

(First question was above)
(Second question) Either way, when it's time to stop, how exactly do you do it? (For example) Change other habits, go new places, exercise more, stop drinking, simply "swear off" gambling... How exactly do you stop? Thank you.
I have struggled with other forms of addictions but I was fortunate to overcome gambling addiction once and for all. I stopped over-gambling within a few months and channelled my efforts to reading and writing. I also avoided some of my friends who were chronic gamblers. Having a gambling budget also assisted me in controlling how much I spent on gambling.
669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Introducing bitcoin to the orphans on my birthday on: December 19, 2023, 10:13:48 AM
I am not too interested in you introducing Bitcoin to these orphans because they are underaged and might not have the financial resources to invest in Bitcoin. However, it is not a bad idea to give these kids a foundational or surface knowledge of Bitcoin. But I am moved by your selfless service to these innocent children. Many of them are going through a lot of challenges and these gifts you brought to them might alleviate hunger for some time. While others celebrate birthdays with friends in parties or clubs where money is spent on alcohol and in some cases drugs. But you have decided to bless humanity on your birthday. Happy birthday and I wish you more fruitful years.
670  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has gambling ever whispered you with different strategic prediction measures? on: December 19, 2023, 09:48:13 AM
Since gambling is most based on luck, who else has ever wanted to set your eyes close while you hits the slot or taking your predictions with the believe that.... "Your eye sight has failed you in number of times at when believing that taking your time and plays according to your heart desired based on sights satisfactories was to be the best for you"
Then probably sometimes you want to try a new trick by closing your eyes while picking your predictions or hitting the slots.
This happens when you surrender your fate to luck. But gambling is not luck because you also need to use your sense of sight to analyze games before predictions. But I understand that in some cases predictions and in-depth analysis can fail so we need to do the extraordinary just to check if we could just be lucky. When I was growing up, we usually sang a song and picked the numbers that fell at the end of the song.  But I don't do such anymore because I have a different perception of gambling. Gambling is not a do-or-die affair, I just enjoy the game, and if I win that's great.
671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: December 18, 2023, 08:45:44 AM
This result is quite surprising. I waited 90 more minutes and I really thought they were going to win the game. A goal in the 94th minute from Jonathan David buried PSG's hopes of strengthening their position in first place. NICE performed poorly in the last 5 matches with 5 defeats but this result leaves them only 5 points behind PSG. Competition in Ligue 1 is still quite competitive because Monaco has the potential to overtake NICE in second place.
This outcome of the game between PSG and Lille has proved that football games just like every other sport are unpredictable. PSG had to pay for their inability to create more chances and score more goals that would have kept the match above the reach of Lille. If they had scored more than one goal that extra time goal wouldn't have made them secure just a point. They ended up making that defensive mistake that allowed Lille to secure a point.
With the inconsistency in the performance of Nice, PSG might still likely win League One. They wasted the opportunity to close the gap to two points with the loss against Le Havre AC. The outcome of that game reduced the pressure on PSG after the loss to Lille.
672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Passionate gambler keeps the gambling boards rolling even after retirements on: December 18, 2023, 07:26:42 AM
This is an interesting story, this happens if you are very passionate about something. This is no longer gambling since he does not intend to gain anything from what he is doing, he's sponsoring the event just to have fun and unite people who have the same interest as he is. When I was a kid, there's a friendly neighbor who enjoys basketball a lot and is passionate about it when he was younger, he used to sponsor a basketball tournament and even gives funds to support young kids who are passionate with basketball, so I guess even if it's not gambling related, you'll somehow feel that they do it for passion.
People will always paint gambling as an immoral activity because some people are misusing it. However, they fail to understand that gambling has so many benefits that cannot be overlooked. This story portrays one important benefit of gambling which is entertainingly uniting the people. I was to appreciate the organisers and financier of this event which is targeted at showcasing gaming skills, uniting the community and also giving out rewards to deserving participants.

As a growing young boy in my location would usually put money together to bet on a game. We used to put up a football competition where every kid would put funds together for the winning prize. Such a competition usually brings the community together and you will see parents, relatives and friends encouraging players to put up a good performance to win the competition. This gambling event also led to the discovery of football talents in the community. But gambling critics will not understand that it was betting that brought the community this great benefit.
673  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: KuCoin to shut in New York, pay $22 million to settle lawsuit on: December 18, 2023, 05:37:26 AM
The US market will be occupied by serious companies and not smart-ass businessmen from Asia.
The clampdown on exchanges through strict regulation in the US will clean the market to a large extent but it also have some disadvantage. The US market is the biggest crypto market in the world but some competitors are making flexible policies to attract more crypto investors. Singapore and Hong Kong are offering some of the most clear and flexible regulations that create an enabling environment for crypto firms. We might see more digital asset businesses leaving the US and moving to more friendly countries in the Asia Pacific region.

If Coinbase becomes the only major exchange in the US, it will enjoy a monopoly and other businesses will suffer. This will give the US crypto community fewer options which is not a good feature of the free market the US claims it is. Other exchanges should be allowed to operate to make the market more competitive.
674  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: BIS Allows Banks to Hold 2% Of Their Reserves in Cryptocurrencies on: December 18, 2023, 05:13:03 AM
The policy will start from January 2025 and it is an improvement of the earlier 1% benchmark for banks. This is a piece of good news considering that BIS is made up of 63 central banks which includes some of the top economies in the world. Projecting to increase crypto reserve in 2025 also indicates that the crypto sector is here to stay and is also considered an important part of the global financial system just as gold. Although this policy promotes centralization it is also leading to crypto awareness and adoption.
675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prove me wrong: Gambling is both more relaxing and entertaining than trading! on: December 17, 2023, 01:51:53 PM
You need to do a lot of work as trader in terms of market analysis than you would do when it comes to gambling before taking your decisions, however both involves calculation but you do more in trading.
No doubt gambling is more entertaining and a bit relaxed than trading because it already designed in such a way that it will be entertaining and fun but trading can be fun too when you understand the market and you are scooping some profits out of the market.
Trading is a serious business and it is not designed to entertain people. If you go to the conventional stock exchange buildings you will see people wearing suits and ties and looking attentively at graphs and charts. There is nothing funny about trading. But sports or other casino games are usually designed not just for gambling but it entertain the players. Gambling could be serious business to some people but if you want to enjoy the gambling atmosphere visit a physical sports bet shop when they are playing live games. You will see someone who has just lost a bet still smiling and chatting with fellow gamblers.

Another reason why trading doesn't bring fun is because traders usually invest huge amounts in trading. So a loss is usually more painful than losing small funds that are used for gambling. Gamblers don't stake more money than traders because they are aware that we should bet what we can afford to lose. But traders see trading as a professional, so they can put in huge funds.
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: December 17, 2023, 12:53:36 PM
I also do not think that Napoli should be very happy about winning this match. Because this was a match that they were supposed to win. After all, they were playing against a team that was literally trying to stay out of the relegation zone. So if this was anything other than a win, and if this was even a draw, I would have said that the performance from Napoli was bad and the result was also unexpected. No did they do well to win this match? Of course, they did. Probably the only thing which might disappoint them is them not being able to keep clean sheets.
The most important thing is that they got the maximum three points. Napoli has suffered from some setbacks that made them lose so many points but they are gradually regaining lost ground. I don't think any club deserves to be underrated because such a club could surprise big teams. This is why I think Napoli deserves praise instead of criticism. I don't also care much about clean sheets especially if the club keeps winning. Clean sheets don't attract additional points, so they are not so important.  I am just pleased that Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are regaining form which is evident in their performance in the game yesterday.
677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 17, 2023, 12:22:03 PM
Manchester City just got from bad to worse as they again at home against a weaker team left point. This time is completely different though as they are not fighting only against Arsenal but also against other teams fighting for the Champion title and I am afraid for them it is already game over despite how strong of a team they are.
City is now in fourth position currently which is very surprising, Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa are all above them. The draw against Crystal Palace shows that they might not easily dominate the league this season. City's next game will be against a strong side Everton in Goodison Park and that game will determine how well they will fair this year. A loss or draw will not be a good result because it might move them down further.

Quote
It looks like Liverpool is going to enjoy this type of result as they are the most consistent team so far in the Premier League and they most likely will continue to be consistent and for me are the strongest league contenders so far.Arsenal has showed that they are a very volatile team compared to Liverpool.com
Liverpool has lost just one game and drew four games which shows consistency. They have a strong side that will compete favourably with other top clubs. A win against Manchester United today will move Liverpool to forty points, six points above the defending champions. I can readily bet on Liverpool than Arsenal because the former is more consistent.

No government should prohibit the ownership of this technology
The government will make policies they feel are appropriate for the people of the country. Such policies might be wrong or right but they will always claim that it is for the good of the people.

Two good back to back wins for Lyon surely good news in this win now just because of these win they are having 16th spot in league table with mostly they were at rock bottom and things were going from bad to worse day by day now their fans are waiting for their next match against Nantes which will play at home and if they win this surely they could be on right way, and also they can jump out of the relegation zone for the first time in this season hopefully now their internal problems ended, and they will be done better in coming matches which will bring better results and improve confidence level of players as well which are currently having huge pressure and trying to do better things for this legendary French club.
I never expected Lyon to beat Monaco at home. Monaco is a more established side with some of the best players in the Ligue One but we saw Nice defending very well and getting the winning goal in the 84th minutes. If Lyon can continue with this winning mentality for the next three games they will be heading out of the relegation zone. It will be a disaster for Lyon to go to relegation because the club has a good history both in League One and Champions League.  A game that Monaco dominated in terms of shots on target and possession, but they defended very well and took the few chances they had to get a goal.

Monaco lost an opportunity to close the gap on Nice and PSG. But such results are what makes a league interesting because matches are becoming unpredictable. Pierre Sage seems to be doing a good job since the sack of Fabio Grosso and I just hope the former academy coach will at least bring the club out of the relegation zone.
