So there is no question?

Systems are subjective because it is people who use them and when it comes to giving merit or leaving feedback there is always a component of subjectivity.

To be honest, it's not clear to me if you're just messing around here, because if you were already writing in reputation posts less than a month after registering, I don't really know why you say things like this:

I don't know if they abuse their power there are consequences for them or not.

No, I'm not messing around here. I just enjoy discussing, writing what's in my head and on my mind.

Hahahaha... Because the likely answer is "yes there are no consequences". Because I sometimes see tags being used for revenge, and merit sources that are too good by sending too many merits

663  Other / Meta / When Trust and Merit Systems are subjective on: October 05, 2023, 03:35:56 AM
I'm still a beginner here, because I just came to the forum about a few months ago. I like discussing on the meta and reputation boards because there the members discuss well and don't just fulfill posting quotas

As far as I know, trust systems and merit systems are built for a specific purpose:

# The trust system was created to protect members from fraudulent activities and keep their money safe from fraudsters
# The merit system was created to minimize account farmers and spammers

Both of these things are subjective and free for the DT (trust system) to mark +/=/- and the merit source (merit system) to send the merit to whoever they like. I don't know if they abuse their power there are consequences for them or not. But they are members with special powers who work like forum police and make the forum better even though sometimes there are members who complain because they feel discriminated against due to wrongful accusations.

I don't want to talk about DT, because I've been dealing with one of the DT members and I've given up  Grin

Regarding the source of merit, I have never had a problem sending your merit to anyone, as it is your right, but this person seems especially nice

So the question is?
A lot has been said about this, so I won't add any more questions. If you want to write feedback, please do so, if not, that's okay. This is just what I wanted to write  Grin
664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I heard about Bitcoin and my experience on it on: October 05, 2023, 02:49:18 AM
I can't remember when I first heard about Bitcoin, but it seems like it's been quite a while and I'm not at all interested in Bitcoin. Before getting to know this forum, I was taught by a friend to hunt for airdrop prizes from the Telegram channel but I didn't get anything. A friend in the telegram group told me about this forum and my college friend also turned out to be an old member here. So I signed up and started reading a lot about bitcoin, but unfortunately my investment still lost because I bought bitcoin when it was $33k, but it doesn't matter because I still hold it, maybe just need to wait more time
665  Other / Meta / Re: Can one plagarise unintentionally? on: October 05, 2023, 01:12:12 AM
In the world of written content, their main enemy is plagiarism. In the world of video content, their main enemy is reuploads. Both of these are acts of copyright infringement as bitcointalk is under US authority (correct me if I'm wrong). And plagiarism will give rise to legal action if the original owner of the writing files a copyright claim. The lowest copyright claim is to DMCA and request removal of the content, however this may proceed to legal jurisdiction

Providing a link to the original article does not guarantee anything as the original author can still file a copyright lawsuit
666  Other / Meta / Re: ? Trust Score Not Shown In Bitcoin Discussion Board? on: October 05, 2023, 01:00:12 AM
Honest question here, and forgive me if a question like this have been asked before, just asking out of curiosity and nothing really that important..

I know this have probably been there for ages but it seems I am just noticing after all, was just scrolling through a thread this morning and reading comment, I saw a comment from one user and immediately got interested to see the user's trust Score, that was how I discovered that trust scores is not displayed in Bitcoin Discussion Board, and I was curious to know why..

Any body or user with an idea why a user's trust Score is not shown in Bitcoin Discussion Board?

I don't know its early history, perhaps because there were no transactions taking place in bitcoin discussions, there was no need to display a trust system on the board. As far as I have read, trust systems function to avoid fraud and/or anything related to money and trust systems do not function for discussion and/or differences of opinion.
667  Economy / Reputation / Re: I do not understand the purpose of the board Reputation. on: October 04, 2023, 11:45:02 PM

PytagoraZ-Bitcoin may be more closely related to gold than Bitcoin is to silverware, but your analogy still needs work. I am not talking about replacing mining with a system built on trust. I really do not want that. Besides, it is easy to build a system on trust, but it is hard to make it trust free. I am not willing to compromise any of the cryptographic properties that Bitcoin mining has in order to solve a scientific problem because that would be way too easy. We need to both solve the scientific problem and secure the network with mining.

The point is, you already know what I'm analogizing and it seems like I don't need to add any more analogies to strengthen my argument. You also know that Bitcoin is actually just ordinary, but why is it so popular and trusted by so many people? Maybe because of the vision of "freedom" that bitcoin has and as an opposition to the fiat system.

If you have a new thought or idea, make it have value. However, the public will know whether this value has hidden interests or not. That goes for altcoins, they talk about decentralization but they are centralized so the freedom is abstract and pseudo.

I think the concept you built by belittling and harshly criticizing bitcoin did not have a positive effect on you because before you there were many more people who did this and none of them succeeded. This is the same as many parties who criticize the fiat system, but up to now fiat is still very strong. So? Never mind, you are free to say whatever you want and no one will stop you here. Welcome to freedom of speech

- I know very little about the general overview of bitcoin, technically and cryptographically I know nothing
- My English is also bad, I hope my writing can be read

670  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quality over Quantity on: October 04, 2023, 12:57:23 PM
From a campaign perspective, quantity is important, you must create 25 posts every week to be considered qualified

From a merit perspective, quality is important

The two must work together, it's useless if you only make quality posts once a week.
Some people just write without proper enquiry of what they are talking about. This is an educative forum, a lot is shared and learned in this platform. So making proper enquiry before coming to share idea is a very necessary part of the process in the forum. Making quality post will help readers get proper information and understanding in the propose topic that is being discussed. But due to the several campaign task given to users, the rush to meet up with the task of the campaign will bring rise to people posting quantity instead of quality.
To ensure proper quality content, do your findings and research on the topic you’re trying to talk about. So that readers can find your post relevant and useful. Posting both quantity and quality post should go in handy this will not only help build your profile but also give you the merit you deserve. Even though you can’t make quantity post, but make sure your few lines is authentic and  relevant to the community.

Do you see that what I wrote above is irrelevant? I'm just keeping it very simple, so quality and quantity are important and they have to go together. The point is, you wrote it quite long
671  Economy / Reputation / Re: I do not understand the purpose of the board Reputation. on: October 04, 2023, 11:45:53 AM
PytagoraZ-"From the past until now the way to eat and drink is the same, the only difference is using a spoon, chopsticks or fork. And no one has ever complained that their way of eating hasn't kept up with developments in technology and AI"-That is a very weak argument. You have made a false analogy because spoons and forks have absolutely nothing to do with Bitcoin. "Then just leave the bitcoin community, it seems like bitcoin will not be affected by anything about it."-May I not post on this forum? Or are you triggered?

From the past until now, people don't care about how to mine gold, the most important thing is getting gold. I think it doesn't matter whether bitcoin is advanced or not, but that people believe in bitcoin. You definitely know that everything that has value is based on trust, and that is the most important thing because bitcoin is value.

Today there are many altcoins or shitcoins that are methodically sophisticated but centralized and thus devoid of trust. From the past until now, freedom is an expensive value

Yes, you are entitled to say whatever you want about bitcoin here or anywhere, I have no problem with that. Apart from that most people out there don't know and don't care about Bitcoin  Wink
672  Economy / Reputation / Re: superman184 account is either bought or hacked, need help sniffing possible alts on: October 04, 2023, 06:02:48 AM
hahaha... thank you, I was going to ask some questions but I didn't write them because might not be relevant. It seems I missed some of the discussion above.

However, it could be that the account owner doesn't dare to come here, that's a sign that he admits his mistake. Actually, I'm not interested in defending him either
Um,  yeah.  I think you asked for a post history review (but correct me if I'm wrong), and you really need to learn what it is to make thoughtful, constructive posts--and that's not even considering other factors like the proper use of the language you're using.  No more reviews for you.  Christ, you left that last "sentence" dangling like a limp dick.

I'm still waiting for feedback from the community.

To everyone who's wondering what the big deal is about accounts that changed hands, just use your imagination and come up with scenarios where the new owner either does something shady or simply becomes another shitty poster among thousands that we already have.  I don't give a shit whether anything scams or whatever have happened; they can happen, they have, and most likely they'll continue to happen.  I'll hand out a red trust in a second if only as a deterrent.  I've been fucking account buyers and sellers for a long time now (with a long break, too, but I've been worn down), and I'm comfortable using the trust system in that way.

Theymos has only given us so many tools to fight scumfuckery here, and you just have to use what's available sometimes.

Sorry, I'm not good at English and still need the help of a translator. As usual, you always use dirty words but it's always interesting to read them

At first I didn't agree with Redtrust for buying and selling accounts, because as far as I know it's not prohibited on the forum, but I changed my mind and it's annoying if new people join the forum and immediately have a ranking and get a campaign salary. I'm not jealous, but it still sucks

The guy didn't come here and defend himself so maybe he admitted his mistake and wasn't interested in arguing or putting up a defense. Have you sent a message? If not, I will send him a message in Indonesian about this accusation thread
673  Economy / Reputation / Re: TheSpiral account is either bought or hacked, 10 years of absence from the forum on: October 03, 2023, 08:36:36 PM
For a long time, people would buy established accounts for the sake of promoting a new coin or token - which were often scams - to make it looks like reputable members of the forum were endorsing them. This is originally why some DT considered the act of purchasing an account to be redtag-worthy.

Nowadays people buy these accounts mainly for the purpose of enrolling in a signature campaign. They take the earnings they have made from sig campaigns and re-invest them in the purchase of a second, third, fourth or fifth account. So I highly doubt this member is at all "new." They probably have multiple accounts currently enrolled in campaigns.

Do you think if they are "only" going to participate in signature campaigns they are not worth the red tag? Or maybe just a neutral tag? If they want to do it honestly they can build up an alt account, but that takes time without getting money for writing. I would say that if they are able to get enough merits, and nowadays it is not that difficult with the number of review threads and that are offered, also forum members like The Skeptical Chemist, in about 8 months they can start getting paid with Mr Member rank. There doesn't seem to be a lack of campaigns lately either. I think it is very benevolent to assume that they are "only" going to participate in signature campaigns when they are bypassing the merit system.

I also agree with what you said. If the redtrust function is used to tagging accounts that may not be trustworthy/proven to be fraudulent, then joining the campaign is not something that harms other people, unless it violates the campaign rules. So maybe neutral is more appropriate? Ah.... trust systems are very difficult to understand, even though I have repeatedly read about trust systems. But because this system is subjective, it cannot be generalized and maybe old members like you, nutildah, lovemyfamily etc, know how to use this properly, although sometimes I also disagree   Grin
674  Economy / Reputation / Re: TheSpiral account is either bought or hacked, 10 years of absence from the forum on: October 03, 2023, 01:27:46 PM

Yes, as expected, I did not receive a response. Therefore, I also leave a negative tag because I do not agree with the position that someone can freely come to the forum and take a place higher than ordinary beginners do. Let everyone who comes to the forum honestly strive for advancement in ranks and not use workarounds.

To be honest, usually I would say that he didn't violate anything because on this forum there are no restrictions on selling or buying accounts. But your statement made me change my mind, it's really unfair if new people immediately have legendary rank status and don't feel what it's like to fight from the bottom. It really hurts, and yes maybe from now I will agree with redtrust for buying and selling accounts
675  Other / Meta / Re: Discussion: "Cybersecurity and Privacy" board + Poll (request v1) on: October 03, 2023, 12:12:38 PM
Edit: I just realized this is a different thread. I thought my vote had been deleted  Grin

It's the first post I read from him and I feel like you're giving him too much credit. It is so badly written that one can barely understand what point he is trying to get across.

Sorry, I'm not good at English so my writing is probably very bad.

So in my opinion, if there is a board about cybersecurity then the discussion in it will be about hacking cases, the methods used for hacking, and how to secure wallets. I think the discussion will discuss how hackers get information, the code/script used, how malware works, etc. This will indirectly reveal how a hacker works, so that from here people will know how to hack and know what to learn in hacking

I know that there are many benefits to these boards if they are available but there are also many dangers in them. I honestly wouldn't mind if this board existed, although I would prefer it not. Security questions can be asked in the wallet section and I'm sure no one will ask about "how to hack a wallet", but the question is "how to secure a wallet?"

If there is a cybersecurity board then there is likely a discussion of "hacker A breaks into site Y with type X malware method". In the discussion, we will discuss how hackers break into sites, how malware works, etc. I think the discussion will focus on hacking (both security and hacking)

I am really curious here. Are you really Joseph Van Name of the University of South Florida? If the name has been picked up on by members with ulterior motives that could mean damaging the name of someone without him even knowing. Your posts suggests you are him but for the sake of clarity, could you confirm?

The entire cryptocurrency community has failed to understand that Bitcoin has a mining algorithm that was never designed to advance science and that that is a bad thing.
This means that the entire cryptocurrency community cannot be trusted with anything because they reject science and reasoning. I have had enough of this madness.

-Joseph Van Name Ph.D.

I tried going to google and writing "Joseph Van Name Ph.D" and I found this. If he is not Joseph Van Name Ph.D, then that is defamation, and that is a very bad act. He should be able to verify himself and there is nothing wrong with his statement because not everyone has to agree with bitcoin
678  Economy / Reputation / Re: superman184 account is either bought or hacked, need help sniffing possible alts on: October 03, 2023, 02:32:58 AM

A few questions: Are there any indications that this account is committing fraud or causing harm to other people so it deserves a negative tag?
A few questions = 1? I think you might need to rethink your wording from time to time. For the actual answer to the question, you might try reading the other responses as there are less than 20 to read through.

hahaha... thank you, I was going to ask some questions but I didn't write them because might not be relevant. It seems I missed some of the discussion above.

680  Economy / Reputation / Re: superman184 account is either bought or hacked, need help sniffing possible alts on: October 03, 2023, 01:55:23 AM
With that being said, I'm not trying to single out good accounts and bad accounts per say. I'm saying that a bought account from 5 years ago who wasn't someone important in the community, probably has no intention of scamming anyone. They bought the account to make money from sig campaigns or to announce a project. If they bought the account with loads of positive trust, they likely have scam intentions, and the community should be warned they aren't dealing with the original owner. If they gain reputation after the account was purchased and become a staple in the community, then that's fine. It's all about when the account was purchased to me.

I think you say that from your common sense, while I do it from a legal point of view, because whoever commits a crime does not change the typology of the crime. This of applying a penalty depending on the status of the person or the perception of whether he is going to scam or not, has a difficult defense based on laws and legal regulations.

If you use a legal perspective, are there any regulations that prohibit buying and selling accounts here? As far as I know, buying and selling accounts is allowed on this forum. So legally in this forum, this account has not violated anything, but if we talk about forum ethics then it might have violated ethics because most of the members here don't like buying and selling accounts.

A few questions: Are there any indications that this account is committing fraud or causing harm to other people so it deserves a negative tag?
