661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Computer problem - can't mine, help appreciated on: November 08, 2011, 11:14:06 PM

Also what version of 7?
662  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: How long ago did you get a BTC related PayPal charge-back? on: November 08, 2011, 11:09:37 PM
Never had one as I initiate all necessary transfers to get the money physically into my hands immediately, then send remainder payment of btc.

I too have never heard a first hand account of charge backs and am not sure if a gift can be taken back since it is withdrawable immediately after receipt

In my experience, it's enough a pain in the ass to get 8 gpu's to work well on one rig, moving past 8 sounds like more of a headache than what its worth. Also, running 8 gpus on a board requires 400w of power being pushed through the mobo to the pcie slots, 4 16x @ 75W and 4 8x or 4x or 1x @ 25W. That's a ton of power running through the board and only a few $350 + boards can handle it. Unless your using powered risers, which scare the crap out of me.

Power load doesn't depend on length of PCIe slot.  Regardless of the number of data lanes all PCIe slots have same power connectors.

While a video card "can" pull 75W from the bus none of the externally powered ones do.  I measured my 5970s under load and it was ~30W.  So 5 of them would be 150W.  I do agree though that most MB despite the spec calling for 75W per slots assume nobody will need that much and have insufficient ability to handle that current.  I wouldn't try it without powered extenders even @ 150W.

Wasn't speaking of length, but rather speed. x16 maxes at 75W with 25W required at startup and x8-x1 max at 25W.

Side B pins 1,2,3
Side A pins 2,3

As pin 3 on side B is 'reserved' does it have to be connected? is this the power up lane?
667  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin silver 1oz custom coin... gauging demand on: November 08, 2011, 05:13:35 AM
Like I've said before, I'd pay pay 15 BTC for a pretty 1oz bitcoin exclusive round without hesitation.

I'm curious as to why more people are not interested in this. This right here is you beginning stages of security of wealth people. Speculation of bitcoin combined against/with the speculation of a precious metal. One is quiet a bit more proven than the other and bets against it to hold you're value. If you ever need liquidity you have 1 oz of silver, if you want to speculate bitcoin you have a secured physical value on a coin.
668  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Demonoid.com Torrent Invitation Code on: November 08, 2011, 04:46:49 AM
It's the same as me selling an invite to theswarm.me they are free but you need to know someone who is already there to get one. I'm not going to do it cause I don't want to risk getting banned from it, simple.

If he wants to try to sell them, let him. There is nothing illegal going on here, just a bit iffy and both the seller and the potential buyer are more than likely aware of this.

Eveofwar, if you have nothing to offer then what the fuck are you doing here? No one is trying to scam, torrents typically aren't exactly legal, everyone knows about invite only torrent sites... GTFO.

Some requests have been made for Casascius Physical Bitcoins in silver.

To me it is completely crazy.  But so is the markup people are apparently willing to pay.

This would be for very high denomination pieces, like 100 or 500 BTC.  So they would be paying a price that includes both the bitcoins, the silver, and the markup.

How many rounds does it take to make a run worthwhile?  I can add the BTC value, the only minor oddity being that my holograms are gold, not silver.

I don't think it's worth it for what you do. You are niche and an awesome market. Because of the fluctuation of the market, no, I don't think it would be viable, but what do I know. You put an actual value on the coin itself, but the metal could be worth greatly more of greatly less. I suppose it is the same as the US mint stamping $50 gold pieces right now but that is a collectors fair. I would rather see a 1oz silver bitcoin without a value attached to it as a collector/novelty/asset item than one that has a value associated with it that I'll pay a premium for on top of the silver.
670  Economy / Marketplace / [ANN] Everyday Items for Bitcoin! on: November 07, 2011, 10:29:04 PM

For now, if you are interested or just don't know what Amway is and would like to browse their products please feel free to visit www.amway.com.

I look forward to the possibility of bringing yet another avenue to this wonderful community and providing everyday goods to my fellow bitcoiners.

Sincerely,

You should be PPS mining with 0% fee for profitability purposes. Slush's pool is good but has gone down hill since he went down for I think 3 days and it has greatly effected the amount of blocks found there which will lower your profits
674  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Are risers causing problem? on: November 05, 2011, 10:01:01 PM
are you overclocking the cards? i have had it where they will run for a day or 2 and then fail, lowering the clockspeed by 10mhz solved it

This just sounds like a heat problem. The card will lower it's clocks to preserve itself
