661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you bet on when your league is in break? on: December 05, 2023, 04:41:45 PM
When the NFL season is over my gambling significantly declines as NFL football is my bread and butter when it comes to sports gambling. I will then move to MLB Baseball, NBA and NCAA basketball when the NFL season wraps up, I just won’t bet nearly as much. I also tend to play games like roulette and poker more often.

I do not trust Brock Purdy yet in a big game against someone like Patrick Mahomes.

This is the first time I wanted BCT to have a down vote option. Smiley

Wander in to P&S and I bet you’ll increase that number 10-fold, especially reading one forum member’s post in particular (hint, it’s not good..it’s bad  Cheesy ).

@bbc Brock Purdy wouldn’t face Mahomes. He faces the Chiefs defense. To boot, Mahomes has not been Mahomes really this year, esp of late. Kelce looks hurt (rumors he’s hanging it up after this year) and the KC receivers are absolute shit (Rice is okay).  The Niners are a much much better team all around. Defense obviously much better and Purdy has 100x the weapons Mahomes has. My money would be all over SF in a matchup between these two.
663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What I learnt from a crackhead about gambling on: December 05, 2023, 04:05:49 PM
Gambling is a drug itself (just like music). Two things people don’t tend to associate with being drugs, but they technically are. They both can/do alter brain chemistry just like traditional “drugs” and can be highly addictive. Personally I’d rather be addicted to gambling than crack. Gambling may make you go broke, but it’s not destroying your body as much as crack. Nor is it nearly as illegal in most places. Everything in moderation.

Maybe I missed these and apologize if so..when setting the bot up, do I need to type my name
As “@chibitcty” or would “chibitcty” be okay? When people mention me and I get an alert, do they have to use the “@“ sign in front of my name in order for the bot to flag it?

Thx Ninja for creating this !
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kids and Bitcoin on: December 04, 2023, 04:02:53 PM
How to explain to them the difference when they don't even know what money is, what money is created for and how money is created?...When we talk about money, we are talking about finance, but what do children know about that? They are being raised by us and have never worried about making money. So how can they understand how money works?

Our children need to know about bitcoin, but at the right age, we cannot teach them things they do not need yet. Don't ruin their childhood because your parents wouldn't do that to you either.
Children can be taught some basic knowledge about money, but they definitely don't need to know what and how it works. The best thing we can do is to try now to create some kind of savings for them and when they reach either adulthood or are old enough to independently manage their finances, pass on knowledge to them and teach them how to use finances wisely. Children are also different, but there won’t be many of those who will be interested in money from childhood.

Why would you deprive a child of education if they perhaps could benefit from it? There’s nothing wrong with teaching children about financial matters even at very young ages, as you’re setting a foundation for them to grow on and the earlier you start, the stronger that foundation is going to be, the better off they’ll be for it.

Why am I the one whom ALWAYS has the most injuries in fantasy football. I swear to god every single year I lose key players more so than anyone else. Rhamondre Stevenson looks hurt badly. Prob season ender. I swear to god man smh. Dude had 7pts in the first quarter and was primed for a huge day.

What is everyone's assessment on the Bengals vs. the Jaguars? I am very much aware that the Bengals are nothing without Joe Burrow, however, can the Jaguars win against the spread with 9.5 in this game? Bengals +9 might cover, I reckon.

Also, the Lions -4.5? This might be a good opportunity to for them to come back and win after their loss against the Packers.

I think they could definitely cover this spread. Jacksonville has been playing well lately and could def see them beating that spread.

I had a few CI coins and I realized that often the laser-marked serial is either very hard to read, or had degraded beyond recognition - Not to say this had one, I have no idea, but I did have a coin where I brought it up in the sales thread, just can't find where/when at the moment as there were so many.  Tongue

Edit maybe Pedro himself can chime in here about this, IDK. @CryptoImperator Huh

Edit 2 -

Pretty cool idea to include an article from the coin encyclopedia.
Is this the unserialized version then or if not, which serial does this one have? In any case, great piece of history.

0.0127

I do believe unserialized.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, was this a coin/private key created by the creator of the coin or is it a DIY?

Not a dumb question. Coin was funded by the maker.

669  Economy / Economics / Flash Mob Theft -> closure of brick and mortar stores -it's economic impact? on: December 01, 2023, 08:45:33 PM
Hey guys, I wanted to get a discussion going on something that is effecting our economy here in the United States in a very big way, and that's this new "practice" of "flash mob' theft.  Here in the US we are having a serious issue where in person stores such as shopping malls, clothing stores, jewelry stores etc are under siege from mainly teenagers/young adults who gather in large groups, wear unidentifiable clothing, often masks, and run in to stores overwhelming workers, stealing items and running out.

This had gotten REALLY bad here in the US over the past I'd say 3-4 years.  It's only getting worse.  It's forcing stores to close at rapids rates, as well as re-arrange how items are displayed, often locking them up behind glass cases, and forcing a store employee to open the case to grab the item..this is for even stuff worth no more than $5.

Is this happening where you live, in your country?  How much of an effect on the economy do you think it's having?  Is the effect mitigated by online shopping, where business isn't being completely lost, just not done in person.  I have to assume people losing their jobs at physical stores could be taking a tole on the economy as well and will continue to.  Thoughts?

Here's an example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY_q0IfIJHY

670  Economy / Economics / Re: Black Friday deals and your plan to hold bitcoins. on: December 01, 2023, 08:33:42 PM
I heard on the news that this Black Friday and Cyber Monday were the largest online shopping days ever.  I believe it said that, or at least the largest it's ever been for these two days.  It's kind of sad to see the brick and mortar locations all closing down and everything becoming purely virtual (but also thanks to thieves ransacking stores in mobs).

Anyways, you have to be careful as some of these companies put things on "black friday" sale but were really just the same sale that it was on already before.  Companies getting shady.
671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 01, 2023, 08:26:48 PM
I can't believe my Chicago Bulls beat the Celtics last night.  I was halfway watching, as I was also watching the Thursday night NFL football game, and had forgotten to check back in on the game and all of a sudden the final score pops up on my TV (I've got an alerts thing on my tv) that showed 120-113.. I was shocked to say the least.  No Lavine either is whats crazy.

Lavine is now out for a week. Some speculate it might be so he doesn't risk injury and that his trade is immanent.  What do you guys think?

Glad I didn't put money down on that bulls game!
672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: December 01, 2023, 08:22:13 PM
I agree with you, pretty much. Whenever I watch some liberal media or new channel what they do to keep their voters stuck to the democrat party is to fearmonger about the possibility of Trump having a second term next year. They talk for much of their programs about the surge of white supremacy, the Trump trials and the trials of his former associates. I don't think there is something wrong about talking about those things, but they rarely talk on the legislation the Democrat party is going to take in order to talke those problems you mentioned, specially the crime surge in the United States, last night I saw a report on how criminals are targeting delivery trucks nations wide and mobs are flash-robbing stores.
At this point it would be refreshing to listen to Democrats plan to deal with all of that. If they don't, Trump will increase his chances, as he is not afraid of pushing against robbery.

Minorities want jobs and good economy. Fearmongering is not going to help. One area where the Biden administration has failed is to control the crime rate. Crime rates have gone up in inner city areas and this has forced businesses to move to the suburbs which are better guarded by the police. As a result, a lot of people have lost their jobs. Only section of the society who have remained loyal to the Democrat Party are wealthy white liberals, who live in gated communities in their colossal bungalows, away from the immigrant influx and crime.

Yeah, I agree there is much hypocrisy and problems within the democrat party, it would be easier for the Republican party to win over the Democrat party if they did not choose Trump as their leader and current head of the party. If the Republican party remained as it used to be back in the 2000s or mid 2010, when their politics were about conservatism instead of the ideas of Trump, then the Democrat party would be in trouble, facing a more coherent and moderate republican party.

The same thing goes for the Democratic party.  Joe Biden may be more well liked within that party than Trump is in his party (the Republicans), but there's still a lot of Americans who can't stand either President (myself included).  Because our politics are insanely corrupt and ran by morons, there looks to be no doubt these two are the choices once again. smh

As for voting, I just have no clue how this thing is going to go.  I thought Clinton was going to smoke Trump and bet on her, and where did that get me.

674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys, what's the best Bitcoin wallet for PC these days? on: November 30, 2023, 06:30:55 PM
As many others have mentioned, Electrum seem to be the most popular purely digital based wallet.  I've used it in conjunction with my hardware wallets as well, though for me the easiest /safest strategy is simply using a Trezor hardware wallet.  I know ColdCards are quite popular as well if you're looking for a bitcoin only type of wallet.

Also, I like the Trezor T model best.  It's got a nice little touchscreen on it.
675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 30, 2023, 06:27:51 PM
Ok guys I changed the poll. Our new question is first team to get 20 wins. Which team do you think will achieve it?

Right now Celtics is leading with 14 wins, they only need 6 more. Magic and Bucks from the East, Timberwolves and Nuggets in the West have 13 wins each. Very close race is going on right now.

I haven't look ahead at everyone in the lists schedule going forward, of course that would be the best way to go about deciding your answer for this question, but I would lean Boston not only because they have the most wins currently, but also because I just feel that they might be the most well rounded team in the NBA right now.

I like the Buck chances probably second most.
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Using AI for betting predictions on: November 30, 2023, 06:22:46 PM
This has been touched on here before, and my answer to this is it depends on what exactly the "AI" is figuring out.  If it's helping decide matches based on quickly crunching numbers, I guess I could use it as a guide, or something to "bounce" my ideas off of, but in the end todays "AI" isnt real AI (AGI), so until that comes to fruition, I'm likely not going to be using it to help me at all.
677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why sports betting? on: November 30, 2023, 06:20:39 PM
I bet sports for a few different reasons.  First off I am a huge sports fan, and so I know the games pretty well which I bet on.  I mainly bet on NFL football because that's my favorite sport/the sport I'm most knowledgeable about.  I feel that I've got a better shot betting sports than playing most casino games.  I also don't trust the outcomes of a lot of casino games if I'm being honest.  With sports, the outcome is clear and there's no cheating the gambling house can do.
678  Economy / Economics / Re: Luxury and spending lifestyle fastest way to poverty rich kids on: November 29, 2023, 06:16:01 PM
It's pretty clear that your native tongue is not English, so I'm assuming you're not a United States or Canadian citizen.  I live here in the United States.  I can tell you that there's really nothing backing up your claim that kids of rich parents are the ones that go poor.  Honestly, it's typically the opposite.  There's really no data to back up these claims, unless I'm not seeing something that you are?  I just can't agree with you at all.  It's simply not true (overall...of course it happens).
679  Other / Archival / Re: Wearing Bitcoin Clothing in Public on: November 29, 2023, 06:12:32 PM
As a collector of physical bitcoin/cryptocurrency items (coins, pins, shirts etc) I have quite a few bitcoin shirts, but I never wear them.  I don't wear them basically for the reason you presented.  I don't like to advertise what I have financially wise.  Yes, if you're in the wrong place and the right time, or have someone near you with nefarious ways, I think it's definitely something to worry about.  Better safe than sorry.
680  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risking 1% in Gambling on: November 29, 2023, 06:10:19 PM
For me it's all about the dollar amount ( or bitcoin amount, technically ) and not a percentage, so I'm not sure where I stand percentage wise.  I typically have a set amount that I'm willing to gamble on each game.  If I feel confident I typically bet $25 worth of bitcoin.  If I'm very confident I tend to bet anywhere from $50-100 in bitcoin.  I feel you, I don't take a ton or risk and it's much less stressful.  I don't have huge upside, but I'm okay with that.
